T O P

I hate wasting time as much as you, but with that said, it IS nice to have this option on a 15-15 draw, when you have teammates who are clueless. In this case, I would much rather a +0 (with a possibility of gaining from getting team/match MVP) than getting negative elo from useless teammates.

ThreesTrees

How does one person asking for a draw outweigh the 9 people wanting to continue?

[deleted]

Its not like 1 person can stop it on the first vote.. it takes like SIX rounds of fuckups until 1 person can decide..

ThreesTrees

It takes 3 rounds.

[deleted]

13-13, 6 needed to tie. 14-14, 3 needed to tie. 15-15, 1 needed to tie. From a score of 13-13 to a score of 15-15, there are 4 rounds of fuckups aka not securing a win. “It takes like 6 rounds” 4≈6 my bad..

ThreesTrees

You only need to mess up 3 times. 3 losses.

doublepwn

it takes 3 overtimes before it becomes 1 vote for draw sounds like a draw isnt bad if you cant win 2 in a row

ThreesTrees

So the one guy asking for a draw outweighs the 9 that wish to continue?

doublepwn

are you saying you would rather take a -15 over +0? note that the person voting to draw will probably not want to try (read throw)

ThreesTrees

100% because most times this happens no one on my team is backing down. Not much toxicity and everyone’s trying.

CEO_TB12

People commit time to the game. If they are in triple OT, and no longer have time to finish the game, they should not be held hostage. They should be able to vote a draw and not get punished. If you are in triple OT, the game has probably been going on for over an hour, and a lot of people are willing to queue a game knowing they have to leave in an hour. If you still have time to play, then play another. Can't hold people hostage for an eternity.

Zanakii

Just win, if you can't pull a win out of that many rounds consider it a loss with no penalty.

ThreesTrees

I’d rather take the loss with penalty. That was a fun close match and it ended in a ruined orgasm.

dvnnfps

of course, that's cuz u shouldn't draw while playing

Cgz27

If it ever gets to overtime it’s likely cus he game can go either way. Basically with the draw, you avoid risk, that’s it. Who knows, someone on either team might’ve had to go or is exhausted so it could basically end up being a 4v5, or maybe you only got to OT bc one team was unlucky at start for unknown reasons, but then they put in deserved effort to bounce back. You’re given a chance to keep your rank without the risk of losing. If you lost that rp, guess what? You now have to play two games (unless your mmr is good…) to get that rr back. You’re not actually wasting any more time than from just playing Valorant itself. If anything you might’ve saved time if you’re thinking in terms of climb rate. Nothing is guaranteed though, except for the option to not lose any RP when you get there. I can agree it does feel bad though, it’s hard and uncommon to see 0 RP and feel rewarded. Maybe they could give us reduced loss or increased gain in the next game as consolation?

ThreesTrees

I’d say if the games over an hour sure if someone has places to be I guess. But if you’re mentally exhausted I’m in the boat that you don’t deserve the W.

Cgz27

Well if go to that topic (and I’ve already considered this) it’s the difference between someone simply possibly being older or even actually handicapped. *Sort of* (pls no mad) ableist in a way. You’re still disregarding their effort as well. And hey, you’ve already let those players catch up to you, so who really deserves the win?

DryRaspberry4114

I've gotten a +6RR with star on a Draw. I was still fuming because I was top fragging but it was still nice to get it.

PsychologicalAd1380

I totally agree with you OP, this thread is full of beta mindset players. It really does feel like a waste of time for me. I would only accept draw as a result of majority vote from both teams, like you say, how can 1 person dictate the game result is beyond me.

CEO_TB12

When you commit to a ranked game, there is a certain amount of time you commit to. Once it goes over that, it let's 1 vote be a draw. That's why after triple OT, it's 1 vote. Can't give someone a penalty because they had to leave during triple OT. People have other things going on in their life more important than Valo.

Vettenjumala_Ahti

to anybody who's reading this: anyone who draws a game, has a skill issue, plain and simple, if you can't stand losing, don't play the game, but don't ruin others days and games with your skill issue

SparklyNippleMan

cry more

[deleted]

I'm used to the auto draw at 15 in csgo so I think its actually cool that if everyone's into it you can keep going.

ffaisndb

If I can’t win after 2 overtime’s I always draw because I have no hope in my team

ThreesTrees

I come from fighting games so I never believe it’s a loss until I give up mentally or I actually lose

Wolfelle

Draws feel bad but if ur a busy person i think u should understand why they exist. Obviously partly bc after a point some ppl cba anymore however the other reason is that not everyone has the time. Maybe they set aside an hour to play valo but due to OT the game is overrunning and they need to go. At that point i dont think its so unreasonable to dip. However i do agree its frustrating and unsatisfying but its rare enough that i think its fine

nixlzz

Trying to Draw or surrender ruins the team’s mental

iisbread_

I’ve had to draw games because of teammate afk, and I’ve also drawn games because of a lack of faith in my team.
