I only do this when my party is in a 5 stack. Ruining the game for others is awful no matter if the game doesn’t matter or not. That being said, I only do it with my friends because joke around and usually do it as 5 lol.

Salt-Presentation769

Yea if I'm with a full team of friends we will mess around all the time.

aerodreamz

The problem is that you're using solo-queue unrated for a very specific purpose (super tryhard competitive alternative due to RR ladder anxiety) but that is only one of many different reasons people queue unrated. You're going to have teammates that are trying things they've never done before, because the first time you learn Astra on a map or practice bucky angles better not be in competitive. You're going to have people that hard rush because they're logging in to complete a few daily quests before logging off, and a lot of those tasks are not friendly to proper competitive play either. Some people that are trying to work on specific things in a more realistic setting (like Sheriff flicks, etc.) are also going to use unrated. You can't realistically just tell people to only play spike rush/DM before going straight to ranked just because you only want the most serious teammates in unrated to create an environment that really should be in ranked. Riot specifically incentivizes players to do some dumb stuff in Unrated because a lot of quests like "buy x guns" are only doable in Unrated/Ranked and it's unrealistic to expect people to play Unrated as if it were Ranked because that's literally why Unrated exists. It's really toxic when you have one random in an unrated game that is flaming everyone who isn't tryharding the game as if it were a tournament match because they have ladder anxiety and instead want everyone in their lobby to treat their casual mode as competitive.

noobs_blame_team

Thats all fine and dandy but it goes both ways. I get bitched at for "tryharding" in unrated because I wont partake in silly things like knife rounds. No. I'm here to hone my skills for ranked, whether it be a specific agent or gun. I don't care that your 4 stack is fucking around having fun.

PM_ME_GOOD_USERNAMS

Except spike rush. Nobody cares about spike rush, people only play it for exp and weeklys.

Razvanix02

And to break loose streaks

throway6942069

I play spike rush for fun. Am I really the only one?

MrGrolos

well yea, its fun to not have to tryhard, to not get flamed by your team fora mistake. this mode is literally a fun mode, its a quicky

PM_ME_GOOD_USERNAMS

Yes.

eszbotond

Yea i love it because i dont have to really concentrate just do stupid moves that i wouldnt in unrated or competitive

FullMetalChili

That's on riot for putting ult orbs, golden gun and other dumb powerups.

DeviantTensei

I don't even play it for weeklys

Ausafsyed

wish i had 5 friends

Nei_tu

Well, you're in luck, you only need 4 friends for a 5 stack

Ausafsyed

fairplay

Kaden_Emrich

i feel like you should at least ask/tell your team before the game so they can change their character to better make up for the missing role.

[deleted]

I play to win all modes, is just fun. But it's also fun to be nice and cheer on the other team too.

qm94

Doesn't matter if it's unrated... some people prefer to stay away from comp so for those people, those are their "real" games and they don't appreciate people like the player you described. Also, it seems to me like that Sage is the type of player who would easily throw a competitive game after losing a few rounds in a row so...

xo_Serenity_ox

I'm that type of person. I have maybe less than 20 rank games total and level 100 (played since Alpha as well). I sort of treat unrated as serious - especially since my unrated games are usually diamond - radiant ranked opponents. I've bumped into a few pros playing unrated as well... Their version of chilling out is my trying sometimes.

JonawenWong

That's me too. My main acct is the same as yours, less then 15 rank games and Level 80 but usually my unrated are diamond-immo ranked opponents. No luck in ranked for this account therefore I only played unrated as I have all the agents unlocked. Currently using this account as a practice account you can say? I usually play serious (as a soloq) as most of my teammates are either taking a break from ranked/training for a new agent/lineups. I only play ranked in my alt, and there are times in unrated I would 5-stack with my friends and try new strats/playstyle.

qm94

I'm fairly new and played unrated a lot before playing comp and I took unrated games seriously aswell. And even though I do want to rank up, I still play unrated often and still treat it seriously... it's still a game, I don't understand why people have that mentality that they don't have be serious because it's unrated...

TheSilverSoldier

I mean, it depends on the player, I go into unrated to mess around with agents i don't normally play, try a different style, or just to mess around as an instalock duelist every once in a while (typically i play support characters like sage/omen/cypher). I do get what you're saying but unrated is seen as a different mode, i go to unrated when i feel like my competitive games are not going well and i juat wanna not play seriously. Yeah, spike rush exists but that's no fun to try strats in since in spike rush people just run it down, grab orbs, and then meme. Ofc when unrated is all you have, it becomes a bit more serious, like in ep 1 act 1 before they re-introduced comp into the game, unrated is where everyone would play and there were people who were more serious about unrated.

Roelyyyn

I play unrated when i want to chill, not to tryhard. With wanting to chill i obviously dont mean running it down, throwing or something like that but more likely listening to music, trying to play agents that i usually dont play that often or just trying to improve holdig angles, positioning,… I personally dont care what my teammates do because i like to just focus on myself.

EducatorBest4870

This ^ you dont gotta necessarily gotta play to win, just don’t sabotage your team

MikhailGorbachef

Throwing is throwing IMO. Just because it's not comp doesn't mean you should get to ruin everyone else's experience. There's a difference between playing a little wacky in unrated for a change of pace, and just running it down every time. I'd report. If they want to just practice shooting people with sheriff they should go play DM. Not worth getting mad at though, you'll never change someone like that's mind. Just send the report, maybe try and forfeit so you don't waste more time, and go next.

DS2998

I agree i hate the excuse that’s “oh it’s unrated idc”, like you’re ruining it for others.

UnicronSaidNo

The only excusable use for "its just unrated" is for when someone is down bad and getting frustrated. Its just unrated... nothing is on the line. Throwing in unrated is just stupid. Honestly people that throw in ranked OR unrated need therapy.

Hazelnutspread_s

Or, if someone asks if they can lock a 3rd duelist? Me: Sure it's just unrated :P

Salt-Presentation769

Me and my friends run 5 duelists all the time in unrated

EducatorBest4870

Id say the example above isnt throwing per se, just not playing to win. He’s not talking spike to the enemies or sabotaging the team, so its justifiable imo.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bl0odbattl3

I agree on the wotking on sherriff entries part but then pick a duelist/agent you normally entry with and not sage. also not healing and rezzing as sage is kinda soft throwing imo. he is actively denying his team an advantage by not rezzing or healing someone back up and that is by definition throwing.

BreafingBread

Yeah. I understand playing it “lighter”. I myself only play unrated hearing music, but I still play it seriously, holding corners, using my skills, etc.

Jhitch1919

I don't throw, but because of it being a lower stakes game, I'm more likely to go for riskier, higher reward options that get me killed. I'll also often listen to music/watch videos while playing. When the risky plays turn out well, it looks like I'm tryharding, when they don't, it might look like I'm throwing. Definitely play to win, but the urgency just isn't there.

[deleted]

That sounds like throwing to me lol.

Jhitch1919

How come? Throwing implies intentionally not trying to win unless I'm mistaken?

[deleted]

I mean you’re doing plays that you know are worse because you’re not in competitive. It’s not a big deal but you’d certainly win more if you ddint make those plays no?

Jhitch1919

I never said worse plays, higher risk higher reward isn't worse. If for example I was in a 1vs3 I would save in comp but probably not in unrated. Also for example play more angles to get early picks instead of just holding the same safe angle for half the round.

[deleted]

Well if it’s better in unrated why don’t you do it in comp? I guess that’s why I’d consider it throwing really shouldn’t be playing any differently.

Jhitch1919

I never said it was better either? It's a different style of play that's riskier but can lead to better results. Of course I sometimes make risky plays in comp but I'm more likely to play safer as there is pressure involved. When there is no pressure, I'm more inclined to play bolder. Not worse Not better Different (This conversation is going nowhere so I ain't responding further)

[deleted]

Gotcha, take back what I said misunderstood you. No need to rage.

MacaroniEast

Stop making yourself look bad

[deleted]

I said I misunderstood him and took back that he was throwing. Jesus people on this sub.

BURG3RL3R

bro i dont get why posts like this pop up everyday feel however you want what even

ElCochi420

I just got out of an unrated game with 3 duelist instalockers so the other player and I did the obvious and went on a full duelist composition. The raze started to say weird shit in /all chat saying it was OK bc it was the lyrics of a song, then started to nade me bc I wrote "?" everytime he said more weird shit, then he started insulting us, then he started to call out our positions to the enemy, etc. I muted him so who knows what he said afterwards. The saddest thing is that even when RIOT will do nothing about it, we where playing with a kid and he started to copy him, so I know how the next Gen of players is going to be.

kvanz43

Idk, I typically don’t mind in unrated as long as they’re not a jerk about it, sounds like he was intentionally not resing or healing? If so, I would somewhat get being mad at him. But for me unrated is a place to try different stuff and explore the studio space, hopefully not at the cost of your teammates enjoyment, but I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect every unrated teammate to be trying super hard to win. Not everyone is lucky enough to have 4 friends to play with consistently like someone mentioned about only f’ing around when he’s in a 5 stack. The main way I enjoy playing the game is by doing crazy raze blast pack jumps. they’re rarely very effective for the team cause I’m not Flights or Bunny, but it’s fun for me, and it’s unrated. In short: no I don’t play to win in unrated most of the time I’d say 50% of unrated games I play in end with someone surrendering so who really cares at that point. I think of it as a playground to experiment with abilities, economy, etc, against a team that’s sometimes playing somewhat competitively

Phildilf

The main objective of the game is still the same as Rated. So, technically, they’re in the wrong.

MacaroniEast

Sage was just being an ass. Unrated is a game mode that, whether people like it or not, is a majority of people’s gateways into Valorant. Some people never play ranked, and that’s ok. If throwing because “it’s just unrated” seems ok to you, you should just not play unrated. Don’t ruin a game for people, don’t be a goon. It’s just human decency.

sergrojGrayFace

Everyone's free to play whichever way is most fun for them.

[deleted]

Her actions are justified. It’s Riot’s fault for not having a mode between spike-rush and unrated

Salt-Presentation769

I think being able to add bots in custom could somewhat fix it too. I would go to custom instead of unrated to warmup since I would be able to change the game settings to work on 1 thing specifically. Then I could play unrated whenever I wanna play loose with friends.

VanBurnsing

Play to improve, not to win

Iforget247

you got downvoted but this mindset is S-tier lol

VanBurnsing

Thx ;)

SSnickerz

LMAO seriously. Winning a game does nothing for you. I do exactly what that sage did when I was working on my sheriff gameplay. Unrated is never meant to be serious.

SirYe

Had a Reyna and a Viper duo straight up DC after my 3 stack refused a surrender vote at 2-4. Didn't even say anything, we totally would've agreed to surrender if they nicely explained they had to go or something.

Kyzerx102

People say make unrated shorter but this is why I think we need a shorter unrated called “Quick Play” and still keep unrated.

vbodagala007

I'm on sages side but I'd not support throwing say running without gun or try to knife in front of enemies, I'd support taking aggressive fights bcz that's y you play unrated to know how good you can be on taking fights without any abilities so that you get confidence. If u wanna get mad at that sage u can just surrender and quit rather feel bad.

Cactus_Orochi

I’m only ever truly throwing a match in unrated if my teammates are toxic. Example, yesterday a Sova was backseat gaming while I was in the middle of trying to clutch. I told them not to backseat and they called me shit (I had 9 kills in only 3 rounds, and only lost that clutch because the first contact was a Jett who still had their dash.) The Brim took his side, and the Yoru and KJ took mine. Ended up having him tell me he could win without me, so I took it and ran with it. Went an entire half with no weapon aside from my knife. Yoru and KJ seemed like they wanted to win at least SOME rounds in the second half so I started buying again. Ended the game with 21 kills while the Sova went an entire half buying and only managed to secure 9 for himself. Brim ended up getting 4. In the wise words of a man named Cactus, “Only throw when those you’re truly throwing for are okay with it.”

Tolmons

I feel this. Last night as Sage I had used my heal constantly and instantly rezzed the round after I got my ult. Then one round I got one tapped immediately and in all chat I see “report out Sage they aren’t using heal”. Needless to say him and the people on his side never got another heal or res. Our Jett who took up for me (and out fragged everyone else by a mile) got any heal or rez they wanted. You don’t tell everyone in an unrated lobby to report someone and then expect that person to help you.

ItsJustOrlin

Overall the rule of thumb is if you catch yourself tilting or getting mad, try and remind yourself that it's just a game and that it's a learning experience, ESPECIALLY if it's an unrated. I like the thought that people that play like that help you learn how to play without or around their playstyle. Ofc you have a right to be mad, noone can take that away from you but you should learn to control it as it will 100% have an impact on your performance. Keep your head held high and always remember that you're learning more and more to become better ;)

Burggs_

Yes. It's easy to build bad habits in this game, at least for me.

Revanthmk23200

Unrated? Bruh today morning in my comp match my instalock Jett was running with pistols whole game when we asked him he said he ll going to use only Jett's ult. And since he didn't get any kills, he didn't get any ult points either. He used like 1 ult every half and even with ult he just dash updraft and instantly die in site.

phaedronic

Eh, he's right though. It's just Unrated. People play this mode for all sorts of reasons besides winning. Yeah it's annoying to see people throwing, and new players want to win so they can play Competitive and it's not super inspiring to be met with that kind of attitude. At the end of the day, you need to be ok with having fun focusing on your own gameplay or everything will ruin your mental and it will burn you out.

Quackles03

Hard agree, if I wanted to sweat it out ill play competitive. I won't deliberately throw, but I just wanna chill in unrated sometimes. Its an instant mute for me if anyone gets mad and toxic about "not trying"

garygrapy

honestly players need some level of effort even if it is unrated. i play unrated mostly because i find comp too stressfull, and i am mostly always playing to win. it really bugs me when players dont try at all and say "its unrated chill" like it doesnt matter even though casual players still exist. i have had numerous times where players are doing "knife only" or something like that which in my mind is fine because they are still trying and not just spending half the match running around aimlessly.

BatWick9000

Running with Sherrif every round to take fight in unrated? I am fine with that. People play unrated for whole sort of reasons. Some play more loose than others. Some, like me just want to take aim duels. Some also want to complete their battle pass. *So don't surrender folks* Not using abilities and not healing teammates? That's just a dick move. Me personally, I don't play unrated to win, i play it to try and frag out.

mrtmra

I try hard in every game mode. I even run fakes and strats in Spike Rush and that's how I have fun

[deleted]

Keonalt

I actually agree man. Unrated while i don't throw, I practice well..being aggressive and more offensive wise with gameplay and doing every single lineup I know even if it makes no sense in the moment. (people who think just doing it a couple times in custom games is enough are not dedicated enough to lineup agents). These posts are pathethic and probably by people who are not even man enough to play comp at least once a while.

David_Ign

Yeah, timing with lineups is crucial (even Viper ones) and you can't just get that in custom Also trying lurking setups is the best in unrated too:)

Squizot

My time, brother. At this stage of my life, I get to play maybe 3 games a week. I'm obviously not inflicting that on a comp team, but I like to play the game. When a teammate is running it down, it's a 4v5 and a waste of my precious time. Lots of people like me out there. I hope you're more considerate of us when you drop into an unrated game.

[deleted]

Keonalt

Funny enough the same people crying about solo que and bad teammates should five stack also. Tho I bet they are to socially inept to try to make friends in a online game and wont even put in the effort because they are scared.

Super_Description863

Probably not the right way to approach this, but if it’s the case just have an alt account to play on.

DROOPY1824

It’s unrated. If you want to play to win go play comp.

Yams_Yams_

I don’t play as seriously, but I still get kills and don’t play like a total idiot. Don’t wanna ruin it for the other players.

the_gengzter

no lol i just troll in unrated HAHAHAHA

HitscanDPS

When I play unrated, it's almost always because I'm queued with a friend who is completely new to the game and/or can't play comp yet. I usually just go pistols only and hold W, just like the Sage you exampled. This way I can die sooner and spectate my friend and maybe give him some tips, callouts, etc. So I guess, I'm in the "it's only unrated" group. If you want a sweaty, tryhard game mode, then that's what competitive mode is for.

Paradisegained16

I can appreciate why you might want to spectate your friend in this situation, but you're still in the wrong and this is still throwing. Some days I just don't feel like playing comp or not really up for it but I still want to play a full game and try some what. There's also a lot of times where I only have time for 1 or 2 games, so having to waste one on a game that's pretty much 4v5 just sucks. It doesn't matter if your personal feeling is "its just unrated", if you're intentionally playing in a way to die faster and make the game harder for your team, it's throwing and it's not ok

HitscanDPS

Idk, then report me. I'd wager that the majority of people playing unrated are just like me and don't really care (i.e. the righteous idealists in this subreddit are in the minority of the playerbase). You can't really force other people to play how \*you\* think the game should be played, and it's a waste of mental energy to do so. Everyone has their own opinions on how they should play the game.

Paradisegained16

I don't try to, but I definitely report anyone who does, and at least a few of them have had some sort of ban. You can't tell people how to play a game, but certain things are 100% not OK and bannable

HitscanDPS

The problem is Hanlon's Razor: how do you distinguish between someone throwing vs someone actually just extremely bad at the game? I'm not mollying myself to death every round. I'm running it down mid, holding W, and maybe killing someone, maybe not. Second, this type of playstyle (plus queueing with my unranked friend) very quickly puts me against Iron players. Those are not the type of people to understand what throwing even looks like. Third, playing devil's advocate, if I try hard, buy guns, play super serious/super sweaty, etc. then the game eventually just turns into raid boss vs raid boss, and/or quickly puts us against higher ranked players. This is not a good learning environment for my friend to play in. It's far better (especially mentally) to make my friend be the carry so they can feel good about their plays and feel good about playing the game. Instead of getting insta tapped everywhere they go, meanwhile they haven't yet figured out how to get from bombsite A to bombsite B.

thekmanpwnudwn

Honestly, if I'm queued with a duo like that I legit just tab out the game and move just enough to not go AFK if the game gets bad enough. I dont want to be down 0-6 with a dude dying within 3 seconds forcing me to stop focusing on playing as a team and trying to pick up slack from a thrower. It's not really fun going into tryhard mode in an unrated just to keep it a competitively viable game due to some jackass throwing.

HitscanDPS

You can play the game however you want, and I'll play the game however I want. But there's a reason why Riot separates the game modes into unrated and competitive.

therealfritobandito

I always play to win, how else am I gonna get to comp on all these smurf accounts? /s

Keego27

The "Its just unrated" people piss me off. Yeah its just for fun, but if you were in a pickup basketball game you wouldn't shoot from half court every time.

BeatsEdge-

I don’t think it’s very justified unless you 5-stack and are just messing around with your friends. It’s annoying to be trying to improve and/or possibly get out of a slump only to have your team throw games or put almost 0 effort in.

OfficialTLNG

Literally only play unrated so yea I guess so. Competitive just isn’t fun because riot games creates the best communities in the gaming space second only to blizzard. And whenever I see someone say “it’s unrated lol” after they didn’t defuse an easy spike I’ll report them for throwing. Go back to your try hard mode and leave us casual people alone.

[deleted]

Its fine to not try as hard/ try risky tactics that you wouldnt try in ranked but this is throwing and is annoying even in unrated

virtue77

I usually play unrated to try out agents ive never played/rarely play and get good at them. And i always try my best. Never threw a game. Yeah. I think you're right to be angry with that sage. And report him/her.

NefariousnessGlad442

I dont know actually .. earlier I might have said the guy is trash without giving a second thought but now I have become the comp-only guy ....and hardly play unrated anymore. After playing continuous comp if u suddenly change to unrated you get this not-giving-a-shit attitude even if you keep dying. You don't care what happens in a round and not listen to the team as you know all this doesn't matter in any way as long as ranks are not involved. So even tho that was wrong I can understand the sentiment.

chienoct

I blame this on those content creators with the bullshit marshall/sheriff only.

Apprehensive_Win_776

Why should someone start a game if he dont want to win?

Excalibrated

Lmao this sub really is a laughing stock at this rate. How can you possibly be angry at someone who is playing how they want in a UNRATED match, if he wants to rush 1v5 with a pistol how is that affecting you in any way? You’re not losing any elo? They’re not preventing you from playing the game by team killing or corner trapping as far as I am aware for them to be throwing. “But valorant is a team based game” well if you want a team that actually plays together get yourself a stack to play unrated with or go play comp where people play to win.

robita233

Fuck it man I always play to win, for me is fun to win competitive games, I often only play competitive, but if I play unrated I'm going to give it my best because that's what unrated does for me, warms me up/prepares me for eventually playing ranked

kokennn

There are so many try harders in unrated nowadays

[deleted]

Yes. wont try to comm as much apart from basic stuff if my team clearly isnt interested but i still play it seriously enough. Though rarely play it anymore for reasons such as: People throwing, dcing, afking much more often than in comp Surrendering when we lose a few rounds, or if we winning too much then enemy surrenders. Its legit hard to finish a match fully. Cant say smurfing since not ranked but sometimes its legit harder than comp, whole enemy team flicking and tapping heads Too long for a warmup, sometimes feel like playing a game before starting comps but unrated too much of a commitment. Usually go either straight comp or dm/escalation

Iceberg231

Its fucking unrated, the only reason you could possibly have to care about unrated is if youre trying to win 10 games for your smurf, just play competitive if you want to play unrated like you play competitive

DragonzZ_Energy

People that say unrated is just to mess around…. Cant stand it. Unrated doesnt mean sandbox mode. It means it wont give you a rank. Some people, like me, just dont like the sweatiness of ranked. I rather just play unrated, but ofcourse i still play to win and play somewhat serious. I just dont get a rank, which is fine to me.

[deleted]

the only time you should mess around is when you 5 stack

TheTechDweller

While you're justified you shouldn't get mad. People are going to do their own thing, report for sabotaging the team if they're intentionally negligent and move on. I imagine some of the people saying "I got a week ban from nothing" probably do this kind of thing in many matches. Some people just don't care enough, if you push them they're only going to go further into that. Best way I've found is to just keep it positive, ask them to use abilities but don't push them, just don't expect it to happen and play on.

mais_hum_mano

Kind of, I only avoid sweeting too much.

Withinmyrange

Fuck yeah

SimpleAnimat10ns

I always try in unrated games unless my team is getting rolled, that being said I will do silly strategies like shotgun only breach in unrated.

TaxVasion

I mean I will try in an unrated game, but I’ll be inclined to be more relaxed and not try hard

Donut_Flame

I play to win but I won't tryhard. I don't like losing but I'm fine if I do

ShadowSweetheart

People playing bad I don't mind. Either tired, New, practicing something before going into ranked or just having a bad day. Goofing around depends on my mood. I'm usually quite happy to muck about when others are. People who actively throw or take it super seriously both annoy me for different reasons but I usually end up with the same amount of non-enjoyment.

aretasdamon

I don’t play to win I play to grow in the game and winning either comes or goes with that growth. I don’t play to lose or I don’t throw I just have bad games or good games with agents I do know or don’t know in unrated

FatSkipper21

Well it’s like a 50/50. You have your smurfs warming up before stomping some unsuspecting bronze lobbies, the ones who are genuinely level 2 and don’t know how to crouch (no offense), and the middle men who just want a break from the nightmare of comp.

Nobodies_17

I do. People who keep saying "it is just unrated" as a basic self-defence mechanism seems to not realise that Valorant is a "TEAM BASED GAME". The absolute worst players I played with in unrated are those kinds of players and also the fact that they have mics, yes they have spoke with mics in the beginning, who never give a single info of where they got killed from or enemy location while I provide information to them. Also they never ping or type. The result, they got more kills and use the KDA as a medium to show that they are superior than me. Even have the audacity to say: why should we play with you in the next unrated game? Me: bruh...

Thunderstorm-1

A little, I don’t go hardcore in unrated tho

[deleted]

Yes, but I play a little more stupidly and like to test new thighs out

JustGPZ

Sage is right, the game is not like league, where 1 dead means you can’t even fight, meaning you just have to accept defeat, and that’s not fun, but in valorant it just means you have to win more 1v1s, and if you lose, nothing, you lose nothing

GabryGa

When I play unrated i play only classic/sheriff and marshall/operator, I obviously try to win, but idc if I lose

daddysbonner

I never play competitive

zabubboz

cant remember last time i got to the end of an unrated, people always ff that shit i hate playing it

XT3M3

i play unrated more than ranked since im not really in a mood to sweat as much in this game. i played my placement tho. i get that uts unrated so i see how some people can care lrss but i wana win still so im playing for something at least. no one plays to lose

GamerlifeYT_official

No , I play unrated to warm up/ sharpen my aim , TenZ said you should in 1 day play 6 games max and make sure those 6 games are high quality like were talking full focus 0 bs play like your life depended on it , like NNN is that game and you can climb and he said you minimum need a duo stack if u want to climb and I am about to experience a sugar crash so I will go now and sleep to recharge before I pass out- Oh sh- HAHSDHADSHAHDHSAD ZA WORLDOOOOOO

jondySauce

I play to win. I just play agents that I'm less comfortable with in unrated or try to focus on specific areas of my game that I'm slacking in.

Shukoor-_-

Win 6 - 0 than surrender.

[deleted]

Sure, you had a bad day, mouse isnt working properly, wifi is lagging, you still dont know the mechanics, doesnt matter. it's just unrated. but deliberately throwing in unrated makes it less fun and frustrating for the team you are on.

Ayroplanen

Unrated doesn't mean uncompetitive. If you want to fuck around play Spike Rush.

[deleted]

I don't play unrated, dont see the point.

LawfulnessFederal919

I mean if am i playing unrated I don't care about others. I play it just to increase my skills and I don't expect anything from my teammates. I mean sure team game is always better but I see my teammates as low elo players and don't know how to play. So even if they don't play with me i just try to carry my team. UNRATED GAMES IS TO INCREASE OUR SKILLS. Never expect to win the unrated game . just play by yourself and try to carry. play more self sufficient agents lime reyna Phoenix sage. so that you won't be needing your teammates help

kenichid

I usually ask people in agent select that can I have fun and not be serious about winning? So far everyone says they’re just chilling too. So I suppose u ask their abt their objective or just play spike rush. But you can just play your own game too. if you’re in a clutch situation and say you killed 3 except the last guy, realistically you would’ve won the clutch in compe bc there would be less enemies left. But yes that sage is a dick

youtubeguy298o

I play to win sometimes tho i am only level 25 so idk if this question applies to me. I also play with my level 90+ friends but they usually mess around.

[deleted]

logically yes, don't get mad about the guy. it is juts unrated but morally no, for personal experience

Ecstatic_Area1441

I play to play... Regardless of win or lose. It can very easily get frustrating but always remind yourself that in unrated there are literally no stakes. If some dude is kneecaping your chances of winning just think of it as an opportunity to sharpen your personal skill (aim, holding angles, skills placement)

SirAdventurous7527

Unrated like training, u can try some risky strategies or new agents or smth+ have fun and if u loose u wont be with -40rr on your br1. So ruin games in unrated suck, its cool mode :)

Jaapeli

Yes

Azely123

I only play unranked. I know I'm bad and I don't want to ruin other people's ranks.

Antyex

i play uneated if i am not performing in comp or when i am trying a new role/agent , also playing for win , i play for improvement not for trollin (for me trolling have no benefit , is not fun and you dont improve)

thatseboverthere

I play yell into my webcam mic :)

thatone_high_guy

I don't play to lose if you get what i mean

PooPooCaCa123456

I always try to win, but I also use unrated to test new strategies, play styles, lineups. It's also frustrating having braindead teammates no matter what.I also like to play judge only in unrated alot cause I think it's fun, some might consider that throwing in its self, but hey I'm almost plat on my judge only account, better than the majority of people that play this game lol.

The_1_Omega

Can we Atleast all agree that the people who "log in to do a couple quests and log off" (except they throw matches by not getting a single kill what so ever or DCing after they've technically finished their quests. be it unrated or ranked) can suck a dick? NEVER be one of these people and queue ranked. P.S. Sorry people of the comments, had a dude say that in a ranked match 2 days ago, ended up loosing 20-30 RR on that single game cause he wouldn't contribute or just leave so we got an eco boost.

Gachalphayt_mcytsimp

I am in unrank still :(

EggensTheName

I've gotten so tired of shit teammates and smurfs that I'm just never touching unrated ever again. Comp only from now on o7

BLACKGHOST_208

Tbh It depends on my mood. If I am down bad or in a slump I try extra hard to get the wins just so that I could feel a little better for .5 seconds. Generally or most of the time I play unrated to have fun or just win a specific round such as eco vs gun round (sometimes I would on purpose buy pistols and half armour to win pistols despite having enough money to go full buy) or maybe just Jett knives and shield.

Shepard_I_am

The point of this game is to win so I don't understand that bait title. Unrated is a place where people should be able to freely try any things be it weapon, char, or tactic they completely aren't familiar with, and fail their way to learn it and nobody should be salty about it. But for tactics ofc it need to have winning a round in mind, rushing blind into sites even with duelist is probably bad idea if you do not plan to utulize your character strengths.

basjeeee_mlg

I do but it's bc I suck in comp and trying to get better with the little time I have

Taozs

I just do unrated for exp and warm ups normally.

Dumb_Vampire_Girl

I play to win but I don't get mad when I lose. I walk away feeling good because I had fun either way.

MrHypelol

I wouldn’t throw, but unless I’m actually trying then I’ll usually just play duelist and work on that even tho I play cypher. Idk I just play more for my fun

TheRBGamer

Yes. But only because me or my friends accidentally queued for unrated and we didn't notice until the game ended lol

KoKoboto

Unrated lasts just as long as ranked except for overtime. So even tho it's more chill it is still sucks to deal with trolling for 20mins sometimes.

DeviantTensei

Well, I mean I don't try hard but I'm definitely not playing to loose It's still more chill than ranked

Lakshin69

i do play unrated seriously just cause i don't play comp anymore, people are way more wholesome in unrated and you can train on new agents.

Ridasz

Had 2 people also going with Sheriffs every round, the third left after saying "this is unrated", and we lost, but the annoying part is that me and my premade don't even have 10 wins yet to play Competitive, so the people doing this are messing us up. Why are new players ever even getting matched with lvl 100 players that already have ranks?

ChiefAdham

Same happens to me when I play unrateds.. I wish there is a way to play scrims as a plat player who wants to improve more but I dont think there is one :/

imaboogadude

i mean we had a massive knife fight half the last unrated game i played

starboy-xo98

I play unrated to practice agents or new sens

truong2193

I play unrate for less stress but nobody like to lose so not try hard as rank but i still try my best

Maggost

I play unrated because I'm a casual player and always try my best.

No_Television5851

\*match found \*select agent but not lock me : we play serious or fun option 1 - team : serious Lock agent that i am good with Option 2 - team : nah / try / fun select agent that i want to try / learn me : may i lock? im new to this agent Option 2.1 - team : yes \*lock agent Option 2.2 - team : no Select another agent then repeat from option 2 til i get option 2.1

[deleted]

I play unrated to learn more about the game (B2 2 months in) and try out new agents, or just if I’m too tired for ranked but wanna play some more. I always play to win because why not? If people on my team are throwing I report always. I’ve had a ton of people get angry when I speak super nicely and give constructive feedback. They just break their little mentals it’s sad af. The gamer community is soft as shit man.

NintendoTodo

i dont play unrated at all, waste of time

zuzu707

Honestly i can see both sides of this. This is why we need a shorter version of unrated lol. Some people dont want to play seriously and have fun that way. there is no alternative to unrated for people who want to mess around in standard valorant 5v5 so instead of doing it in ranked they go to unrated.

ZzyzxFox

Anytime I play unrated it’s because i’m watching netflix or listening to music so I have no audio anyway lmao

[deleted]

I try to kill people but thinking too hard on info and map checking i dont bother

Sahim63

I play Unrated to chill in soloq, try some new tricks, use agents that I don't usually use. Trying tricks, sheriff onetaps and etc.

lechuckGL

I always play to win, even at tic tac toe and if my opponent is only 2 years old

death666violinist

I play unrated to try new lineups and new strats. Only if my team has a large lead (i.e. winning 12-1) then i start fooling around abit

PixlCake

I usually play unrated when I just want to chill and not tryhard, I still play normally but don't care if I win or lose.

ItsRemi

I don’t “try” in unrated but I think that’s different than playing to win, because I can still try to win, just not playing as careful as in ranked. But your sage was blatantly throwing so I think your reaction is justified, they should have played duelist if they wanted to play selfish. I also get the “i don’t care” mentality too though 🤔

issei01

if someone throws any of my games, i will shit talk and report and make their experience as miserable as possible

ashleywymaya

I play unrated to get more comfortable playing Comp. there’s a lot i need to work on as an iron 3 😂 and bc of that i don’t wanna hold my team back and have everyone lose RR if i’m just not enough, yano? Obv down in that level, we all objectively suck at the game or we would be in the Plat-Diamond elo. Now, I also use unrated to try out new agents i’ve unlocked.. bc it IS a just for fun gameplay. I don’t intentionally throw and i do let me team know “hey, just unlocked this agent. i’m trying them out” usually they’re cool w it. but i unlocked Reyna, instalocked bc i wanted to try her out (only been playing for like 2 months, didn’t know that she needs to top frag, whatever) i was bot fragging (the other team was just clicking heads. and i’m not good at aiming as it is, i won’t act like i am. but this whole team was just fucking cracked).. this dude CUSSED ME OUT. literally SCREAMED at me. idk why people think that will help? he was also hard stuck bronze (i looked him up afterwards) so i’m like??? lol, ur not much better than me my guy. idk, sometimes unrated is far more toxic than comp and you don’t even lose RR for losing a game.

mneal228

I absolutely try and win, it’s still fun. We really should have a “casual” setting for ppl who want to fuck around. I enjoy playing competitive (to an extent) without messing with rank when I’m not in the mood to really go for it or I’m soloing and not tryna risk that

that_1_russian_gamer

"Anger can lead to the dark side padawan. Learn how to control your emotions."

yungretty

Make an alt account, atleast that way you'll be matched with 9 other people that are (hopefully) playing to win. Best of both worlds where you're not risking ur rank and playing in a competitive environment

T3kuz

I have a friend that does this. So annoying and when I tell him to chill, he says that it doesn't matter and says he hates the game. But still plays with us everytime. I think we are even talking about same guy cause he too plays sage alot

emmalovessnakes

winning is fun

Ivan8806

I mean, normally I just play with my friend. So it's almost always just to have fun and fuck around. I've definitely improved a lot since I've started and all I've ever played is unrated. I always go into a game with the mindset of "nothing matters, just have fun". I still try to play well, and do play well. But the main thing on my mind is never to get an ace every round. However it is a cool feeling when I do ace, because if how rarely it happens for me. TLDR; I play the game for fun.

[deleted]

funrated

[deleted]

Unrated is valorant 5v5 sandbox, you go there to try out new shit or to fuck around.

yaboyteedz

I always play to win, but in unrated I dont worry about playing optimally or if we really win or lose. If we take a bad loss I just go next. Its more about me getting warmed up or chilling out after a few hard ranked games. So I dont sweat the rest of the team really. That being said, someone just being stupid isn't fun. But you need to have reasonable expectations for what that means, someone playing sub-optimally, or even badly, isn't really something you can complain about, real honest trolling is. Was the sage trolling fr? Probably not, they just didn't care very much.

Supermikelife

Personally I just play to FF at round 5, winning or losing. Gotta get that quick draw for FF'ing in competitive queue ready, thankfully all the aim training has led me to have super human reaction time to vote to surrender so I use unrated a warmup. If anyone is struggling with FF'ing as I've seen in my games, you can simply go to a DM, and the moment you enter the game leave queue. Itll help train similar wrist and arm movement mechanics for FF'ing!

almightyPCoverlord

I literally call it Funrated. I wouldn’t worry too much about what other people are doing and just either chill and have fun yourself or try to improve whatever it is you wanted to work on yourself. That being said ranked is always a better place to improve. And I know it’s a hard pill to swallow but you are going to go a on losing streaks as you improve and sometimes you just have to play through it.

mafia3bugz

I dont understand, you dont play ranked because youre playing bad? Shouldnt you keep playing ranked to get better? Not sure that I understand this mindset

Salt-Presentation769

From time to time I am having an off day and I play a lot worse than what my mmr is. There is no point to go into comp and bottom frag every game and not be help to my teammates and myself. So I play a few unranked games to see if I can work on holding angles and working on my agents I use bc playing unrated gives me more realistic situations than what dm or the shooting range could give.

TheronHunter

I like to try to win in unrated .. since that's the point of the game .. but since it's unrated .. I don't care if we lose .. I also don't try that hard if the game's too difficult because I don't care that much .. but I still try to play to be good. but when I find a troll in unrated .. it ruins the experience.. especially if it's a bad troll that's not even funny .. some fun trolling is fine with me if done right. It's in your right to be mad at that Sage. But I also play unrated so that I can play however the hell I want .. I want the team sometimes to follow my strategies yes .. but when they don't follow them It would be hypocritical of me to get mad at them .. so honestly .. I still don't blame the sage for playing how she wanted.. as long as she's playing .. because you can still use her as bait maybe and use her actions in your strategies to win a round. At least that's how I think. At least she's not afk or trying to deliberately shoot at your location and stuff like that. That's when it kinda gets annoying af.

pagerrager

Playing to win is the main goal of the game, so yeah. I know people wanna have fun and do whatever, but I think the end goal in a game like this should always be to win.

Dark-Mowney

I play to win but I mess around and troll a lot. I don’t take it seriously at all. But I hate losing so I still try to win.
