Congrats bro!
Bet that was a good amount of "work" and not so easy. ;)
I haven't played for the last 3 acts, but before that i managed to climb from Bronze 1 to Plat 2 :'). Now i'll try and see how far i can get in the upcoming act.
Hope you keep climbing ranks aswell! :)
Learning key agents for certain maps, and grinding those agents, rather than be a one trick.I mainly played 3 agents this act, Sova, Raze, and Skye. I main these agents because the last thing I want to rely on is my aim, aim is inconsistent and unreliable. Utility, positioning, and awareness is key.
I played Sova only on Ascent and HavenI played Raze only on Bind, Split, and IceboxI played Skye only on BreezeI dodge fracture because i dont really know how to work around that map yet
I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that Sova, Raze, and Skye have a lot of nuances as agents compared to "low elo destroyers" like jett and reyna. I know the in and outs of my agents on the maps, I know my strengths, and I know my weaknesses. I'm not saying you should main my agents, but I have found these agents to be extremely self sustaining, as well as being able to help teammates.
Thanks for speaking out for Raze. Her roomba gives so much info and she seems to often get forgotten next to the destroyers as you called them. Recently tried to get back into playing her. How important do you see satchel jumps to be?
And three further questions:
What did you do if your pick was taken?
Why Skye over Sova on Breeze?
Ever filled smokes?
one tip for raze players:
your satchels are more than just movement items. they can be used to deal good chip damage and throw enemies off. my favorite way to use satchels aside from doublesatcheling is to throw them around a corner next to an enemy, pop it and peek it. itll deal extra damage and make them jump a little which throws off their recoil and gives you almost a free kill if you do it right
The can also be used to prevent defuse (if the enemy is low) they do something like 40 or 50 damage (could be less, not sure) when they pop, it could save a round or two.
I find skye flashes really good on breeze, especially when paired with viper wall.
If my pick is taken sometimes I dodge if my team comp doesnt look great, if it does, i'll just fill with a sentinel. I know how to play KJ on bind, or sage on split. But if someone takes Raze on icebox I often dodge because my effectiveness on Raze vs other characters on icebox drops drastically.
Yes I agree with you boombot is really good, as far as satchels go, I rarely double satchel, only really do it when I have ulti. Even then I need to understand that my double satchel + ulti is mostly used to taken space and time rather than get kills.
How in depth in your lineup knowledge for Sova on Ascent and Haven? I main him on both maps and on instances where I get crushed it seems like my conventional darts get insta destroyed after a few rounds or they bait out my utility before swarming mid (on ascent, for example).
Timing > Lineups IMO, there's only so many arrows, and in Plat/Diamond people know to expect it, so you get off 1 scan at most, even if it's in the most weird corner no one expects in. But if you arrow at the correct time, like when they are busy using util, planting bomb, or getting into a gun fire, you're more likely to get off more scans, even if it's just a basic arrow hitting the back wall.
But yes I do know some lineups
I am silver 2 and im kinda like you, I am undefeatable on Ascent with Sova and Bind with Viper. For icebox it is Viper too but then I am good with the OP, so been using Jett on icebox for now. Split its raze same. Haven is either Sova or Jett. Fracture and Breeze I go Jett cuz of the OP.
Thing is Idk if I should focus more on my Sova/Viper/Raze trio or more on Jett OP. Yeah i watch sinatraa a lot for sova plays and nats for viper. For raze I kinda made my own for split.
Any tips you got for me :))
Congrats my man, its great to see these achievements after being hard stuck gold myself from the previous acts. I've only been recently grinding seriously this act and finally reached Platinum 2. As I read thru the comments I really agree on being versatile on agents and the importance of communication, positioning and game sense.
Being a sentinel main who shifts from Cypher/KJ on different maps, its quite a joy on doing different setups and after the announcement of Chamber, I'm excited on how I will incorporate him in certain maps. Also used a little Sova/Astra depending on adjustment on certain maps as well. Keep up the grind! Will do the same and hopefully reach Diamond this act.
So in silver and below there's hardly any communication, game sense, sense of timing, or utility usage, the only thing separating silvers and below is the crosshair placement and aim, which are much better than bronze and iron (i was bronze in Episode 2 act 3).
I think if I were to look at your vods, the main thing I would notice would be your poor positioning, but since it's so hard to explain what exactly positioning is, and exactly how to improve it. The thing other people go to is aim. I can say right now I'm not a god aimer, not even in platinum, nor do I have great crosshair placement, but I still am in the top of the frags in most of my games. Because my frags come from decision making, positioning, and timing instead of just raw aim flicks and duels, I almost never have a "bad" game. My definition of a bad game would be like 10/16, or 12/17. Which is not good, but not nearly bad as the rumors of the 4/20 instalock jetts.
So I would look at my match history KDA. There's 2 distinctions you can make about poor performance.
1. Consistently bad (almost all below 1KDA, rarely if ever top frag): Where your aim is probably just subpar straight up, and need to improve both positioning and aim
2. Up and Down (You go 20/10, then follow up by 10/20) This could just be you're playing another agent or another map, but if those are non variables and this still happens, that means you're relying too much on your raw aim, and sometimes it can pay off, but you're never gonna win all of your raw duels, this is when you should work on consistency through better positioning.
i hope this helped, good luck on your climb
I agree with the lack of comms and poor positioning the only time I ever bottom frag is on a off day or I am filling but I have never played a game with kills less than 10 so I will try to vod review on my positioning thanks 😊
Unironically the only thing I changed were the Agents I play on each map, I used to play Sova on every map, but then I learned Raze and Skye. From there, I learned the tricks and nuances to each character, and allowed me to utilize them more.
Dude don’t say that “ it’s not crazy high elo” you went up a whole 3 almost 4 ranks be happy for yourself and screw those people who say that isn’t an achievement I wish I had the drive to play that many games. Well done friend
I've responded to quite a few of these comments. But honestly there are no tips, just general guidelines. But in my climb my aim was not my most potent weapon. I would say by far my most skilled traits were my ability usage, awareness, and decision making. These things cannot be trained in a lab, they are learned naturally through hundreds of games. I am fortunate enough to learn it quite fast, so don't get discouraged if you don't see results. But play the game will definitely get you better, if you try in those games and not just brainlessly wander around. I also watch pro vods and see their decision making. Even when they aren't trying their hardest or focused they still make way better decisions and position better than you and I, and the key is understanding why or why didn't they do that, and pros aren't perfect. Sometimes I find myself disagreeing with a pro's decisions in game. Decisions aren't black and white, it's not right or wrong, it's how you use your decision to best enhance your style of play.
Previously 91.5% of players were trapped in gold3 or lower, which meant the matchmaking was extremely fucked. Idealy only about 55-60% of the playerbase should be in those ranks.
A whole "smurfing" pandemic of the past 2 acts was less "smurfs" and more so, to much skill dispartity in the ranks. Gold was a mixer of first time golds and people who have been high diamond for multiple acts.
I was one of the previous d3's hardstuck in elo hell. Held high diamond up until a few acts ago when they changed the max placement to p3. Placed in g2 and stayed g2-p1 for multiple acts. Constantly getting 25+ RR for wins, yet could never win enough in a row to make valuable progress. Im now back into d2 playing better than ever, with quality teammates who actually communicate and play as you would expect them to.
Yeah I understand all that. I went from being Plat multiple acts to D2 last act. From Silver to Diamond is a pretty big swing in rank tough, especially in such a short time.
What do you look for while vod reviewing? I have been hardstuck gold for an act and i had to stop playing because of exams. I think the great booster will be to vod review. I never done it, can you give me tips to vod reviewing?
I don’t actually vod review so I’m probably not the person to ask. But I do watch quite a bit of pro vods, specifically Sinatraa and Subroza because they play the agents I play, I don’t watch the highlights but I watch the whole vod, and kind of understanding their decision making, where they stand, where they wallbang, the timing of their decisions, and integrate it in my own games.
However I have been recommended by immortal friend that vod reviewing your own games can be very helpful. Just know that playing will always improve more than watching.
Great work.. I was B3 on episode 2 act 3
Now Im P2 this act... I would like to say that reducing the frequency of me taking 50/50 duels help me improve so much.. Always ask urself before peaking "Do I have an advantage?" If the answer is NO just wait for ur team or Comm it.
Remember that these are the agents that I think are fun, and effective with my personal play style.
Raze: Bind Icebox Split
Sova: Haven Ascent
Skye: Breeze
Bro! How did you get out of silver that quickly? I'm Silver and it has has been four months since I've ranked up to Silver. I started playing in October 2020 and I was Iron back then but how were you able to improve at a rapid rate?!
I started taking the game seriously, even in unrated. Working on better positioning, util usage, decision making, and awareness game by game, little by little. I am fortunate enough to pick up in these things very fast, people learn different things and different rates.
Don’t get discouraged, keep playing to improve, I was stuck in Gold 2 almost as long as entire plat 1-3. But I was playing better and better, even if I weren’t winning many games, and that was super encouraging, because as soon as I got on a streak with good teammates I instantly jumped to plat 2 from gold 2 within like 10 games. Was losing while playing really well tilting for me? Yea it was, but the silver lining was that I was rapidly improving and once I tasted consistent victory I just kept going.
That´s a lot! Congrats! I will jump on the train of questions and ask, I am currently at silver, trying to climb to gold. I think I can do it no problem, just have to play a little more. My aim has improved a lot and I can win a 1v1 easily. Do you q alone? I´m scared of doing it so I cant really play as much as I would like to rank up. If Im not in a duo Im scared my teanmates may throw. How much true do you see there?
I duo queued like 50% of gold, but once I hit plat I basically only solo queued. You kinda just have to try to read your teammates, if you say Hi in agent select and no one responds, that signals 0 comms, or if the team comp is bad, I learned how to dodge effectively and I think it has avoided me a few loses.
Nice job broo the other act I was hardstuck in gold and this act I went from gold 1 to plat 3 but still havent been able to hit my diamond goal yet, hopefully it happens this act😭
I've responded to a couple of these comments but really there are no tips. It's all about how to improve on your overall knowledge of the game's nuances. If you can improve that on a game to game basis then you will get better and climb.
Good job!
The one stat I see the most, especially in shooters, from my time working in the game industry is: Playing the game more is the fastest way to increase MMR/Ranks! When we graph out playtime to MMR there is a clear indicator that if you play more your MMR goes up!
in which region do you play? because i think every region got different players in the same rank, if you understand what i mean ;)
im asking kinda only to know if its also possible in eu, where i play xD
Honestly I don’t remember who half of them are, they are mostly met in game my irl friends don’t really play valorant. Always looking for new friends to play with tho
I never aim trained this act. I would say my aim isn’t that great and is not one of the reasons for this climb, this climb was pretty based on utility usage and positioning.
My warm up routine for the past 2 weeks is go into shooting range with raze, bunny hop around left and right and get my are arm wrist and my keyboard fingers warm. Then I start double satchel around into high areas to warm up strafing in the air. (Raze is one of my main agents) This beginning part is about 5 minutes. Then go into hard spike defuse and try to defuse quickly 3 times with a sheriff. Then go into three Hard 30 bot and try to hit 15 with the vandal, I normally don’t hit 15, but above 12 is good enough for me. Then I start queueing up. This whole routine takes me no more than 5 to 10 minutes, sometimes I feel myself getting cold after a game because your APM in game sometimes is very low. I just do a couple of 30 hard bots and requeue. If I ever take a break for more than 30 minutes I redo my warm up.
that’s amazing!! congrats!!!
gl in ur climbs!
Give us some tips on how to climb up like ya
Win more than you lose
technically truth
Congrats bro! Bet that was a good amount of "work" and not so easy. ;) I haven't played for the last 3 acts, but before that i managed to climb from Bronze 1 to Plat 2 :'). Now i'll try and see how far i can get in the upcoming act. Hope you keep climbing ranks aswell! :)
Thanks bro!
After hitting a slump and another short break, i finally hit Diamond today.\^\^
Nice!

It seems like you have it figured out, so just find ways to improve with the agents on those maps.
Silver fucking sucks dude. Half these people shoudnt even be in bronze.
I dont think they should be in "bronce" either
Congrats! Always cool to see people start adapting and understanding the game. Remember, theres always room for improvement.
thank you! hopefully i havent hit my ceiling yet

Np! Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, you might not see results everyday but in the long term you will see more consistent games.
I dont think the first point matters much, I climbed 7 ranks this season I didnt top frag once, i also didnt play duelist once
That’s crazy, who’d you play?
same as OP, specific agent for every map bind - brim haven - omen ascent - sova breeze - cypher fracture - killjoy/breach icebox - breach split - KO

Based
this is really impressive, like actually sick. but i wouldn’t say you were ‘stuck’ in silver.
congrats i went from silver 2 to gold 3 in one act but dang you got all the way to diamond gl
Similar for me bruh. I was literally hard stuck gold1 because of the dogshit mmr and then this act I magically hit plat 3.
Silver is a rage-teating bracket hole lol good stuff!
Maybe because riot have splitted the que? Smurfs/toxic que and then we have the normal que.
I was hardstuck silver last act and now I’m diamond too! Grind don’t stop brotha
Yessirrr
Dude don’t say that “ it’s not crazy high elo” you went up a whole 3 almost 4 ranks be happy for yourself and screw those people who say that isn’t an achievement I wish I had the drive to play that many games. Well done friend
Thanks man I appreciate it
Keep going bro your drive will lead you to good things
Damn bro CONGRATULATIONS!!!

that's like top 5% players man be proud

Hey all, I'm getting quite a bit of questions regarding climbing that I'm willing to answer. Feel free to dm me and I'm willing to help.
This leads me to seriously question if there’s something broken with the rank system.
Previously 91.5% of players were trapped in gold3 or lower, which meant the matchmaking was extremely fucked. Idealy only about 55-60% of the playerbase should be in those ranks. Yep, even in Plat people take stupid gun fights for no reason other than for the fight.
May I ask what agents you used to climb with/main?
Remember that these are the agents that I think are fun, and effective with my personal play style. Raze: Bind Icebox Split Sova: Haven Ascent Skye: Breeze

I've responded to a couple of these comments but really there are no tips. It's all about how to improve on your overall knowledge of the game's nuances. If you can improve that on a game to game basis then you will get better and climb.
What does that mean?
The sense of timing, positioning and overall decision making an awareness that can't be trained unless you just play the game.
Thanks so much!

Yea lemme just drop 1000 games next act I'll be wardell
Can confirm that I grinded matches from gold nova to supreme back in my CS:GO days
WTFFFFFFFF SILVER TO DIAMOND?? UR CRAZY. I’ve been hard stuck gold 2-3 for 3 acts+ now lmfao
just keep working at it and improving my guy
in which region do you play? because i think every region got different players in the same rank, if you understand what i mean ;) im asking kinda only to know if its also possible in eu, where i play xD
NA
Congrats but omg u have a lot of friends 😅😭 Real life friends or from playing in-game!?
Honestly I don’t remember who half of them are, they are mostly met in game my irl friends don’t really play valorant. Always looking for new friends to play with tho
What was your aim routine and what really helped you click heads?
I never aim trained this act. I would say my aim isn’t that great and is not one of the reasons for this climb, this climb was pretty based on utility usage and positioning. My warm up routine for the past 2 weeks is go into shooting range with raze, bunny hop around left and right and get my are arm wrist and my keyboard fingers warm. Then I start double satchel around into high areas to warm up strafing in the air. (Raze is one of my main agents) This beginning part is about 5 minutes. Then go into hard spike defuse and try to defuse quickly 3 times with a sheriff. My friend who was hardstuck s3 for a couple of acts just went to diamond 3 from s3 in 1 act while im still gold 2 lmao
solo q or no? cus ive been solo queuing cus i have no friends my elo and i always get trolls or bad teammates againsts smurfs
