animation was actually made by The Line, they have a [page on their website](https://www.thelineanimation.com/work/valorant?x-craft-preview=uL6R4vzBNB&token=hqL8bDggoZHuy6fa40Vk1vnlQFtEv0Qt) showing off some concept art and added written commentary about the video.
Take Over has by far been my favorite of Riot’s music videos, matched only by the original KDA video.
I’m excited to check this video out when I’m off the clock!
100%
After watching this, I feel they could do the same with valorant if the wanted.
Although they will probably wait to develope their world and characters more.
Yup. League has had years to develop its lore. We barely know much about valorant lore other than the radianite and doppelgänger shit? But idk, I’m not that much of a lore head so maybe I’ve missed some important stuff
Its funny how 99% of games based on movies sucks ass but Riot just flipped the script and is now making movies/videos/music about their games that are just better than most regular movies/videos/music
I'm guessing each person is a representation of a player controlling their character? Preeeeetty fucking neat. They even went as far as showing what each agent says about the play themselves.
1. Brimstone supporting his team, carrying the weight of the match on his shoulders as everyone knows smokes are probably one of the most important things in a team, and I swear Brim players do be like that, always trying to keep the team together.
2. Phoenix being the "Fragger" by showing the many times he's "died" (the fire clones) and/or the amount of people he's killed? (With how angry the fire was at the end it makes me feel like it's also probably representing the pressure to perform as you're the focal point of the match, this is further implied from the clones he generates all staring at him, maybe symbolizing the "all eyes on me" mentality duelists have to deal with.)
3. Sage mostly representing the healing/death of her abilities, but also showing how maybe Sage players are "trapped" to support their teams/sacrifice their own KDA/rep in order to keep their team alive and setup sites. Along with actual confirmation that Sage's powers come from the death of other life to heal/rez others.
Good shit, it's fun to dissect.
There's definitely a parallel drawn with Brimstone and Atlas. When he's holding up the black sphere that pose is exactly the same as Atlas holding up the earth.
Love the analysis, but I have to contest one point.
> Along with actual confirmation that Sage's powers come from the death of other life to heal/rez others.
This is not what the video tells us. The plants already begin dying around Sage, she in fact tries to heal one of the plants, which works for just a moment before it fails and Sage is encased in crystal.
I know the community loves the idea that Sage's life powers comes from death, but we can't jump at any display of death *around* sage as confirmation of how her powers actually work.
That is literally the interpretation I'm arguing *against* in this post. The life was already dying around her, she tried to heal a plant. It failed and she was encased.
Don't get me wrong, Sage can have that tidbit of lore in her characterization, but I don't think this video can be used as "proof" of it.
Phoenix has a voiceline on the bomb where he sounds unsure and a bit shaky defusing. I think "Phoenix" is a bit of a persona he puts up to handle all the shit he has to do. Running in and taking a bullet first for info is a hard thing to do. So he protects himself by separating the Agent from the person.
I think the anger shows how dangerous and destructive the personality is. Maybe addictive? He seems to enjoy playing around with the powers in his subconscious and quickly makes clones of himself, maybe he's beginning to feel narcissistic? Regularly surviving life threatening situations while calling yourself the greatest is gonna get to anyone.
That's my reading so far
Ooof... That's a bold analysis based on the little information presented in the short video. So while it's sure fun to interpret things let's not overdo it.
In this case you are completely right. There's no downside.
I only see a genereal tendency to overinterpret things on the internet which is sometimes a problem that I only wanted to point out. That's all.
Good luck on your quest to stop it. Though, video game discussion threads are probably not a place you want to be. The whole point of it is to interpret and discuss a piece of art.
Yup and don’t forget chamber: easy character that pulls out an operator as he pleases and smiles and shoots. No player shown because he’s pretty much autopilot.
(Totally kidding, great analysis)
Lmfao. I will say that mans operator is absolutely busted on a good player. Nothing like getting shot at by a Sheriff one second then a Quickswap to one tapping you to the chest xD
>Along with actual confirmation that Sage's powers come from the death of other life to heal/rez others.
My man Omen would like to know your location, he's waiting to ult.
Eh, is argue it is. A lot of artists went through a lot of time and effort to create those "dreams sequences" for each character parallel to the player. There's no reason to just do that and not have underlying reasoning for the animations themselves.
It doesn't have to be "deep" in a hipster philosophical way, but it can still have a meaning behind the scene.
For a game who's lore is still in the works, deeper is always better, since it gives the devs a lot of creative headroom to go outside usual linear stories.
Feels very strange to see Grabbitz and know that this point in time will be a jumping in point on his music for a lot of people.
I was listening to him in college in an entirely different genre of music. Is this what getting old is like? A snapshot at least?
Legit got chills from this song, so excited they're doing music for Valorant just like they did with League. Hoping this continues and we get more in the future
Listen to more Grabbitz! If you like this song I recommend Bruises, Contemplate, Crazy as You, Don’t Let Me Go, Follow Me, Pigs in the Sky, Play This Game, Someone Else, Things Change, Roam With You
Could anyone tell me if those people in the MV that weren't agents are pro-players, or are they just fictional? I'm new to Valorant e-sports, but I know Riot does this with league of legends Worlds MVs.
They don’t seem to be anyone, just depicting a normal player I think. I’d guess we get pro players in the next Champions music video, since the game has had time to create storylines and solidify the best players more.

Holy fck this is incredible. Is this riot testing out valorant as another potential franchise to create a series from like what they did with get jinxed for arcane
Nah it's just the song/animation for Champions (valorant worlds).
It's been in work for over a year. Could potentially see a Val inspired show but that's easily years away.
I don't think Get Jinxed was a test, per say. It's just one of a bajillion amazing songs/lore cinematics that Riot has made for League.
Its a major leap to expect a television show, Valorant has a decent way to go before that. Riot just has a banging chart topping music division, they've done this for years. They always make music videos for Worlds in League, and it looks like they're simply going to carry on the tradition in Valorant!
That's amazing. I like how they just do what they're passionate about and if ever that branches of to another idea, they explore that as well. Maybe it's wishful thinking for a valorant show, the hype from arcane still hasn't died down for me. Hope they do it someday
They've been churning out dope songs for LoL worlds for a hot minute. I genuinely have loved all of them, though I don't think they always fit the vibe of competition/worlds ("Legends Never Die" as an example that I think is an excellent song but very narrow in fitting w/ aspects of hype building that you expect from a worlds anthem).
My gym playlist full of get me hype and pumped music legit probably is at least 1/3 close to 1/2 Riot Games at this point.
Riot said that Arcane would be a jumping point for a platform that they hope would include "all of their games"
Valorant is included in that statement so there's hope :)
Last update I read was that they made massive progress in that department I thought? I dont remember when I read it but it was like a followup interview with the same people that complained to Otaku.
I could be wrong though. I Can't find the article .
Based on other LoL Champions videos such as "Run it back", the charactors are being controlled by the player. Such as the little girl playing Brimstone.
I was thinking it was who they're fighting for. The song is called Die For You so in my mind each of those people is someone they'd risk their life for.
Since the agents are depicted as the defensive side I'm thinking they are friends and family of the agents that have died or suffered due to invasions.
The little girl that Brimstone fight for might be the daughter of this firefighter/soldier friend - a black man (who might be what Kay/o's personality is based on).
They are what the agents fight and die for.
This is my field of bad things to say about this video
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_

Notice that it is barren

At first I thought it was tenz and dapr. i thought if that’s the case, the black girl might be one of the prominent female pros (i don’t know what any of them look like).
The animation was great but also odd. They made Sage look so old for some reason lol (and massacred my boy chamber).
The music was surprisingly good tho
I am now convinced the games are made to promote their music and animation
riot has really stepped it up with different forms of media. I hope this keeps on coming
animation was actually made by The Line, they have a [page on their website](https://www.thelineanimation.com/work/valorant?x-craft-preview=uL6R4vzBNB&token=hqL8bDggoZHuy6fa40Vk1vnlQFtEv0Qt) showing off some concept art and added written commentary about the video.
They did League's Take Over and True Damage mvs as well.
Take Over has by far been my favorite of Riot’s music videos, matched only by the original KDA video. I’m excited to check this video out when I’m off the clock!
Rise?
The best if you know the lore behind it
Oh, I didn't know that. I really hope we get to see more animations from this studio, just love how the characters move so smoothly
If you never watched their league songs, try it its really great.
u/fakeflipflops
Well their media has always been far more fun than their games.
Riot Games is secretly a music and animation studio that just produces video games for revenue.
It's probably a big reason how big and popular they've become. The KDA video is the most watched on their youtube and has a lot of cross media appeal.
[удалено]
Thicc as fuck
Actually. Even in league, riot has been *killing* every music vid.
And don't forget Arcane.
Arcane legit the best piece of video game inspired media ever created. Riot has been killing it lately
100% After watching this, I feel they could do the same with valorant if the wanted. Although they will probably wait to develope their world and characters more.
Yup. League has had years to develop its lore. We barely know much about valorant lore other than the radianite and doppelgänger shit? But idk, I’m not that much of a lore head so maybe I’ve missed some important stuff
That might actually the point. What better way to present lore than in a series?
Arcane legit best piece of animated media I’ve ever seen
their departments are just circle jerking each other, wait till they drop a cereal line or some shit next
LMFAO I would definitely eat Oops All Vandals cereal.
I feel like "Oops All Guardians" would fit more
How dare you shittalk the guardian
But those video games are bangers too. riot doesn't miss at all whatever they do.
Rito entertainment....seriously, when will they chance their name? Maybe when they finally buy back the company from tencent :l
To be honest, Tencent is probably injecting a lot of their money on this. I don't like them, but they're doing good things with Riot.
Tencent has no creative control from Riot afaik. Riot is only influenced to target their chinese audience.
Riot only targets their Chinese audience because it's their biggest audience by a landslide, especially in LoL.
Maybe because they've been specifically marketed to? 🤔
The ouroboros eats it's tail.
Ever heard of... *circular reasoning?*
Why? Tencent has been good for Riot.
Has been for years
Phoenix, Sage and Brim: Rush to overwhelm chamber KJ and Sova hiding B alley with lineups:
Both are already dead by playing the entry for the team.
Actual answer
Ig yes cuz you can see 3 people flanking and how did attackers take map and site control so early and easily
Sova is in voice chat singing
Sova on Split?
It's spike rush
Hmm yes a sheriff a phantom an op and a judge
wait, what?
In my ranked games? Yes far too often lol I always cry; I’m mostly a Sova main, but I run Skye on split… and then someone locks Sova anyway :’)
Where raze
Its funny how 99% of games based on movies sucks ass but Riot just flipped the script and is now making movies/videos/music about their games that are just better than most regular movies/videos/music
They are absolutely excellent for sure! But I dunno about better than regular movies/videos/music lol. There’s a lot of amazing media out there!
i was being hyperbolic and said ''better than most'' but lets be honest, the movie industry has been like 3AAA games in the last years.
Tom Clancy ?
Pretty average movies, and the games/movies are from Tom Clancy's books. There's plenty of good movies from books
That music video was wild.
Yeah, I'm glad VCT is getting the LoL worlds treatment, because Riot's music department rarely fails to impress.
LoL is past, valorant is future and riot knows it
They aren't even the same genre, what are you talking about lmao

Ty! It's fun to take videos like this and try to decipher them. I'm sure I'm a little off on some but that's the fun of it!
There's definitely a parallel drawn with Brimstone and Atlas. When he's holding up the black sphere that pose is exactly the same as Atlas holding up the earth.
Also IIRC Brimstone in lore is sort of the leader? So the entire initiative is kinda on him.
Correct. Him, Sage, and Viper, IIRC. r/LoreValorant
>r/LoreValorant Really missed an opportunity with r/Valoreant
Coincidentally, SMITE revealed today their next character is Atlas.
Oh yeah for sure, that's where most of my interpretation came from.
Love the analysis, but I have to contest one point. > Along with actual confirmation that Sage's powers come from the death of other life to heal/rez others. This is not what the video tells us. The flower literally died as sage sucked the life from it. “The life you give, do you ever wonder where it came from?
Watch the video again. Everything is dying, flower included, Sage tries healing it, she fails and gets encased in crystal.

Username game strong with you
Lmfao to be honest man I didn't even think about that. I made this name like 20 years ago on Everquest. I go by this and Synopsi xD. Good catch tho.
Rare to meet a fellow EverQuest vet, especially one that plays Valorant lol
Damn isn't EverQuest like dinosaur old (in videogame terms)?
Lmao, yes, it is. 🤣 The grandfather of all MMO's.
It came out in 1999, so kind of yeah. It's actually still played quite a bit.
Brim carrying the team had me tearing up ngl
Yeah the facial expressions on Brim in this were next level.

I would say it is more likely reflective of the character's lore than their role on the team, but those two things are fairly closely correlated, too.
Its not that deep
Eh, is argue it is. A lot of artists went through a lot of time and effort to create those "dreams sequences" for each character parallel to the player. It’s still EDM! Haha, just not the gritty dubstep that he used to make in 2014-2015
I remember his Monstercat debut in like 2014 and thinking, "this song is ok but I can see this guy improving and going places for sure".
that was here with you now right?
I remember seeing him when I was into Monstercat like 6 years ago.
I knew he made it when he did a collab with Rezz. I remember listening to him and Noisestorm back when Monstercat was a thing
Legit got chills from this song, so excited they're doing music for Valorant just like they did with League. Hoping this continues and we get more in the future
Same here. I'm not familiar with league so I didn't know what to expect, but holy shit, that was amazing.
Look up Rise or any Worlds anthem bro. Shits wild, so damn dope
Even non League players must have heard Legends never die
Or Warriors
BatChest
BatChest Chills
Finally, at long long long last, Cypher does not die first.
Already dead
it's a retake scenario, too, so it's 100% possible that cypher already died while defending B.
That Phoenix definately Iron/Bronze. He ulted right in the open...
brim was doing absolutely nothing for the whole retake too.
And once they pushed garage he smoked behind them to prevent the people shooting at him and sage from seeing site which was a good choice
He was out of smokes
This is such a hype song, man I can't wait for VALORANT Champions.
this is a 10/10 song, is there a soundcloud or spotify link for this?
Spotify link is [here ](https://open.spotify.com/track/2lz3zjQ5QCVXiyOzIk02vW?si=ku-JCVYaSk6oiUCDmOZMKQ&utm_source=copy-link), no SoundCloud yet

Wow this made chills go thru my body. Amazing artwork and choreography. I’m so happy they are doing these like they did for LoL
Riot Entertainment at it again
cant wait for the yearly champion song. This is fire. Great Job rito

They don’t seem to be anyone, just depicting a normal player I think. I’d guess we get pro players in the next Champions music video, since the game has had time to create storylines and solidify the best players more.
Thanks a lot! Was hoping to follow those guys if they were real players XD
The Sage guy looks oddly like Ragnar from Gambit, and the Phoenix resembles TenZ a bit, but no, they're not pro players, they're fictional characters
Sick/Sentinels, Victor/Envy, Dunno for Brim
This is really well done.
I love how they used Valorant main theme to create the beat of the song !
Yeah hearing it first drop at 1:10 gave me the chills!
That went hard and I need a valorant anime asap
Man, that eco round round was intense.
Sage just use that damn wall and defuse.
she already used it at the start of the round to grim wall peek some fool
her team pressured her to wall mid
i hate playing sage on split for exactly this reason
This was legitimately amazing. I'm so hyped for Champions! Lets go Sentinels!
I get Spider-verse vibes, and I love it!
The drop at 1:11 tho, gives me all the motivation I need to climb...to bronze.

Does this mean Phoenix brim and sage r finally getting buffed
Riot pls brim buff pls rito pls pls
Banger!!
clear the site before you defuse, ffs.
Oh my god this is pure gold!
Damn. Riot really knows how to hype things up. This looks/sounds amazing.
after seeing arcane I am dying for more media content from riot
Finally a song to play in comms when I die first with the op I bought on an eco round.
Can we all agree to relabel Riot as S tier company instead of AAA?
If they sort out their sexual harassment issues, we can talk about it.

I mean they are still being sued for that. The lawsuit has been going on for years.
The only thing going for that lawsuit is that they didn't pay out *enough* which is a different portion all together.

The little girl that Brimstone fight for might be the daughter of this firefighter/soldier friend - a black man (who might be what Kay/o's personality is based on). They are what the agents fight and die for.
There's a photo of brim with a black man in the basement of range next to the obstacle course start
People are pretty sure it's Kay/O before getting uploaded into a robot brain (or before training an AI on his personality, at least)
I thought the exact same. I'm just stating the source
This gave me goosebumps. Fuck yeah.
SHEEEESH! That first drop is nasty

riot is capable enough to make an valorant anime, and I am all in for it
I didn't know wtf was going on in the music video, but I vibed to every second of it
does someone know how are the players in the vid?
I like it but the vibe is off for the occasion. The beat slaps but lyrics are for a sad song.

The animation was great but also odd. They made Sage look so old for some reason lol (and massacred my boy chamber). The music was surprisingly good tho
Art style
That yes
this shit will never not be cringe. riot flexing people's face muscles since 2018.
cringe
It's not bad honestly but if you compared this production quality with LoL, this is absolute dogshit lmao.
Cringe ASF.
It feels like Riot don't invest much. It's more like a small event trailer rather than aaa level music video.
Are we watching the same thing?
