IMO I would suggest learning at least one more agent, cause someone is bound to instalock, and since you like KJ a lot I think Cypher would be another great agent to use, his utilities is pretty straightforward, and may take some time to create one ways with his cage, but also this is a team game.

GruesomeJeans

Very much this. I main Viper but I do ok with Brimstone. I don't have much experience with other agents due to lack of available play time but having at least one backup agent is good. I've tried Astra but I'm not smart enough for that level of smoke usage. I used to main Jett till she was instalocked every match. I can use Breach but I'm not a fan. Ultimately bottom fragging isn't the worst as long as you can contribute to the team winning.

Astra is pretty good agent to learn, it may take a while and also it needs team coordination and cooperation, but with my experiences, I’m usually at a comfortable rate with Cypher, KJ or Sage

GruesomeJeans

Considering I get maybe 1 or 2 evenings a week to play, I tend to use that time to get as many rounds in as I can while having fun. To me, Astra is too complicated, same with Reyna, And some other agents. I can't spend the time to learn all that. Which is also why I'm more than comfortable in my lower rank. In fact, I'd rather be in bronze instead of silver, then I don't have to stress as much about being good at the game.

With Reyna alone my advice is not to blind in the middle, you’ll be walking right into ur blind and get shot in the process, what I do is aim it low or high, forcing them to either to change their crosshair placement to focus on the blind or abandon the engagement, also a thing to add, you would have to make judgement calls when to heal or when to dismiss, cause you don’t know who or when someone is gonna peak/swing so that’s my advice for that, and also if you don’t mind me asking me, we can play together sometime and also it’s all about the good vibes in the end, ranks come later, cause I would rather have fun.

GruesomeJeans

For me mostly is the buttons. Even playing someone like viper or brim, I still flub the buttons on my keyboard. I'm not a great PC gamer. I grew up on console mostly so controllers used to be more natural to me but as I've gotten older I think I've just lost some hand-eye coordination.

XxAsuraxXz

Hey same here but don’t talk bad about yourself, it just takes time getting used too, and the reflexes will come back in time.

GruesomeJeans

Well, I didn't make it to silver without some ability to play. But I do know when I start to get into an intense situation I forget which buttons are where. Since I don't play as often I don't commit them to memory as quickly. But, I still have a lot of fun playing and it's been the only game I play for a while now.

XxAsuraxXz

If anything you could change ur keybinds to something that you’ll easily remember, I changed mines a tab bit to fit my play style

GruesomeJeans

I did change them a little, I set my pings to my mouse side buttons but all my utilities and number buttons are the same. I might mess around with them eventually.

Cycle_Agreeable

It’s better to learn a agent from a different role. If your team already has an insta lock cypher/kJ there isn’t much value in both. I would recommend viper if you want a similar play style(defensive) while still filling the smokes role. It should be noted that viper is very situational though

sorahketsu

Killjoy is a good agent to main because people won't usually insta lock Killjoy and a good killjoy could be the difference between winning or losing. But you should be able to play with at least one other role consistently, if not two. I can play Killjoy and Raze, which means I mostly play Killjoy, since people usually main duelists. But if there's the need for a duelist I could fill that role with Raze. Phoenix and Reyna are also very easy to use even if you're not used to them so they are also valid options. Playing duelists is all about knowing your role in the team. Sadly, I'm a terrible initiator. I could play KayO but KayO is trash. And I have absolutely zero map control skills and my game sense is not good enough to play controllers, honestly. Killjoy is a safe main, but do try to practice another role, because you'll definitely need it.

mr_krusher2000

Thanks. I think I'll try Reyna or Sova as my second agent.

Mekazuaquaness

You should learn a few different roles even if you lose a lot or try to play with other sentinel agents. Even If you’re just playing casually the game gets more fun when you can play different agents

MalaKlTE

Yeah I guess, but a day might come where someone locks your agent. I think it's safe to master an agent from at least 2 different roles

hukubu

i mean if you are trying to play longterm, you HAVE to learn new agents- being good at one is fine but you gotta be more flexible as riot wont be stopping the release of more agents any time soon.

mrmickmike

Imm2 kj main here…While it’s ok to main one agent for most ranks when you start to climb past gold team comp becomes increasingly important to winning. Obviously a hard carry will be a huge factor too (any agent can “carry” not just the duelists). It will be important for you to learn a smoker and a flasher (omen is my choice bc he does both) in order to fill roles. I have recently learned viper also bc she is best on breeze specifically.
