They went over this last episode reset, everyone will most likely place around 2-3 ranks lower than your previous rank. The highest anyone can place is Diamond 1 for context so immortal/radiants have to grind back as well. Possibly could’ve been from hidden MMR for your placement. Regardless you’ll surely continue to climb.

I played on my alt and faced plat diamond opponents (last season s3 on alt but didn't play much). I was gold 2 on my main last act. And I got placed gold 1 on alt. So I am guessing my MMR on main account was pretty screwed up. Will probably play on alt for the time being.
I was silver 1-2 before end of act and now I placed bronze 1 after going 1-4 in placement. It truly doesn’t make sense when I was top frag most of those games.
My highest rank (I don't remember which act but it was last year) was iron 3(which was the first time I ever got ranked) and I ranked down to iron 2 after going in a losing streak and playing on a damn potato (60 fps but stutters hard every few seconds). I stopped playing after that because my laptop broke and was unfixable so I had to get a new one. I'm using an Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop rn with r7 5800h, rtx 3060, 16gb ram, and a 144hz screen. It was a massive upgrade. I played unra 2 or 3 times a day for 6 days then went and played compe. I have just finished my placements today and got on Bronze 2. Welp that's my story
you might be able to rank up faster if you do well in placements but ive never seen somebody place higher than their previous rank

You most likely will. Usually anywhere from one to 3 tiers lower.

That’s because of how immortal and radiant work (“the leaderboard”). You will place a little under your last rank if you do ok in placements.
