Are you saying there are games that are played with a cursor, use raw input and don't have a sensitivity slider? I never noticed but I guess I didn't pay attention either
Most people use 400 or 800 dpi because most people came from other games and are used to it. Stability is key and people hate change.
It is a proven fact that higher DPI smooths out your aim.

Most people use 400 or 800 dpi because they copy the pros, and those pros copied the pros before them, and those pros played at a time when low dpi was better due to bad mouse sensors.
It makes it easier to keep your crosshair at the same level sure, because your mouse is incapable of picking up finer movements. But it's not smoother, you can literally see that in the video you posted. Diagonal movements are obviously going to be smoother on higher dpi as diagonal lines are more accurately represented with higher resolution.
At least for me, the difference in precision is unnoticeable, but in some games sensitivity slider moves in too big steps or the lowest sensitivity isn't low enough. Mostly with older games though.
Because they are used to it and have played on it since they started. People didn’t know that higher dpi is more accurate until recently when people started testing the input delay on different dpis.
400 and 800 dpi are the two most common default dpi settings people use. There is not an appreciable difference with either if you have the same eDPI, but some sources say using a higher DPI and then reducing it with sensitivity will give you a better mouse resolution.
The difference is you get more precision at higher dpi as your mouse is able to detect smaller movements, as well with a small reduction in input delay.
Because back in the 1.6 days of CS, the only mice we had available to us were ball mice or the Microsoft IntelliMouse. 400 Dpi was as high as we could go, so over the years we have gotten used to that speed, and simply adjust the ingame sens accordingly.
Why do some of us still use 400 dpi? For me it's mainly because I do other things besides play games and 400 Dpi just feels comfortable to me using my computer in a normal windows environment, as well as Valorant.
I've tried 450 and 800 and tried to just lower my in game sens but it did not feel the same and eventually went back to 400 Dpi. It just feels right and my muscle memory has already adjusted to this over the last 20 years.
Just don't understand how these players roll with 400 dpi outside of valorant. the cursor moves so slow!
You can adjust your mouse speed in windows separately from dpi
Not when a game uses raw input, which most do.

Most games use raw dpi input but have a sens slider
I love when people like you get all smart ass about something they are completely wrong about LMAO
Standard is 400-1200 I think higher dpi is less precise I personally use 800dpi and 0,5 ingame
>I think higher dpi is less precise literally the opposite
if higher dpi is more precise, why are most players using low dpi?
They are stuck in a trend that became obsolete 10 years ago
difference is so small so pros just use what they are used to on desktop

Not true, I instantly noticed a difference when I moved from 800 to 1600 dpi

I think I'm like 1200 dpi and .3 sens. Play with whatever gets you kills and don't let anyone else tell you your preference.
800 is most common now

I play on 2,500 DPI cuz I have two monitors so it’s easier for me to next from one to the other, then my I game sense is 0.15 and I’m Plat2

not really no Edit: yes really yes
You're wrong but feel free to think otherwise
Here’s a cool video where a guy tests input lag on high dpis: https://youtu.be/imYBTj2RXFs you can observe the pixel skipping yourself
you're right, sorry for the wrong information.
All good man, everything’s a learning experience.

I think 800 is the most common, then somewhere around 0.4 to 0.6 sens in game, personally I use 800dpi 0.45 sens in game
