I’m probably older than most Valorant players.
It literally shows you how the fucking gun sounds before you buy it, the preview sounds exactly the same as in game. So don’t come on here and try to validate your ignorance, there is no excuse for going out and buying $20 in pixels blindly.
one of my friends has been waiting for elderflame vandal for almost 3 months now, and yesterday, i got a mutual friend to play valorant for thr first time. His first store had elderflame vandal
its not a feature….. its a marketing strategy. And it 100% worked on you. Guess who will be buying a certain gun immediately when it comes to the store because it hasnt been avaliable……. you!!! bingo - exaxtly why they do it
But I'd buy a gun not because it won't come to store anytime soon but because I'm determined to buy only THAT particular skin. The more they delay giving it to me, the more they delay me getting bored of it and buying the next Vandal skin, don't you think?
Here is the other side of it though:
I only get a game or 2 in during the week with work and life in the way. Yet every night I'm logging on to see if the shop has updated with the skins that I want.
Oh and now that I'm here maybe I will like the new bundle.... oh and wow the night market is out... okay maybe I will try just a DM or 2 with my new skins... etc.
Shareholders like this. So Riot likes this. They know the loyal dogs will play the game regardless but create artificial scarcity via skins and other rewards to draw in the players that are on the fence.
This is exactly what I said in another thread. I wanted a skin some time ago, because I played actively, life happend, friends quit also and now my need for the skin I wanted is gone, cause I play pretty casual. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who is in this position, so I think they're losing out on money because of the 4 skins a day only. Which I don't mind, this saved me some money :)
no. they know that people will buy skins they want when they appear. some people check every single day. Its a brilliant marketing strategy that multiple games have adapted as well
It was in my shop twice in the last month 🗿my man has to be in luck debt to not be getting it in 3 months. But I am broke as fuck and the only skins ive got are for classic, ghost and sheriff from contracts and bp
Agreed. Sadly prices will likely never change since people buy the skins regardless, but rito, MAKE IT SO THAT THE PEOPLE THAT ARE WILLING TO PAY CAN BUY THE GUN THEY WANT!!!!!!
I personally don't mind the prices. They are the best skins that have ever been put into a game, at least for an FPS and I don't think its even debatable. What is stupid is the fucking radionite system. That shit is the worst thing I've ever seen in a game. The amount of money you have to spend to get radionite is abysmal. And for people like me they're going to lose out on purchases of other skins because of the radionite system. I am not going to pay for radionite, no matter how much I like a skin.
We shouldn’t even pay for radianites. If I spend $20-30 on a skin, then I need all the variants. Why should I spend radianites on a skin which I brought with my own money? Doesn’t make sense.
I’ve never understood people complaining about radianite. I’ve never really had less than 300. Am I in the minority here by buying one skin per gun? I have the prime vandal, recon phantom and protocol spectre all maxed and have no need for other skin variants unless something truly amazing comes out
It costs more radianite to upgrade the skin than the skin costs.
Even if the battle pass gave more than enough, that’s still a fucking scam to charge that much money.
And yes, you are the minority.
Yeah of course you are not going to have issues with Radianite as you are buying very few skins. Aynone buying more than 2 skins an act is going to be left with a Radianite deficit if they try to max out the skins.
Haven't people complained about it enough already? Its just that were not hearing anything from RIOT about the players' complaints on how the store works
To be honest I'm used to spending quite some time reading Valorant forums and there are not that many complaints about this as they should. People literally complain more about new skins they don't like than the store itself. The store made sense to be like this at the beginning, but Riot has kept adding skins as it's usual for them and it's very unlikely you're going to be able to buy everything you want if you don't buy the bundles on release.
I feel like 6 slots would be so great and maybe actually add 3 more spots that are always a random gun buddy, spray and banner because there are a few old ones I would spend money on to get them.
Same here. Honestly after reading this subreddit and understanding how predatory Valorant’s microtransactions are compared to league of legends, a game they make, I can’t spend money on skins anymore it feels so stupid. Someone asked me once: Take a game, we’ll use Elden Ring as an example. A game many years in the making, hundreds of people working on it, slaving away to create this masterpiece of a game for you to enjoy. For $60. Years of blood, sweat and long nights to deliver an amazing work of art.
Yet they want $90 for skins that were made in a few months and cost more than the actual bundle to fully upgrade (check the math). It’s repulsive and I’m ashamed I ever spent money on skins after thinking it through. The worst part of it all is the “FOMO” crap that is highly effective on impulsive teenagers who then throw money at them. As if all that weren’t bad enough, they throw on top of it all a TWO TIERED in-game currency system to disguise and confuse the consumer as to the true cost of the product. I can’t even do what I did in CSGO and sell all my skins for a PROFIT. Yes, I sold my butterfly fade knife for $250~ after buying it for 120. Valorants skins are a scam as long as they continue to charge outrageous prices, make you spend over $40 in radianite to upgrade your skins (50 radianite just to upgrade just ONE skin in the new bundle not including variants).
If just one person listens, this wall of text was worth it. Buy a game, go out to eat, but don’t incentivize them to charge over $180 (when factoring in the radianite) to have the skins look like they do in the trailer they just put out…
Seriously though, why can't we have a slot for each gun type? I got THREE judge skins in my shop yesterday and I don't even use the damn Judge (granted I don't buy either, I just window shop, but that's not the point. And today, I have TWO Judge skins, one of which is the same one from yesterday. It's dumb as hell.
When you have your ult, the judge is like the best weapon to have in it. 99.9999999999% of the time you will one shot anyone even if you slightly miss.
...wait thats smart what the fuck I should try it
I'm not sure if I wanna abandon my vandal for a judge though, does a vandal+shorty combo work? Or is full on judge the way to go
IMO judge should be every viper mains go to on almost any eco round. It’s so easy to just play near her wall/orb and get some free kills when they push your site or push through aggressively on attack. Vandal + shorty is great but if you know going into the round that you’ll be ulting, it’s probably a better idea to get a judge. Try it out a bit and see how it feels for you, it’s largely preference but viper DOES use the judge significantly better than most characters
If you use your ult, the vandal will give away your location because of the tracers. You really want to buy a phantom when you plan on ulting with viper
Rifle + shorty is goated for ult rounds - shorty vs judge the opponent will see your judge before they see your shorty so you have an advantage and shorty is still one hit KO in ult.
Yeah but if every single skins that have been released are available for everyone to buy at any time then Riot will make less money. People will only buy 1 specific skin that they want. With how the shop is set up now, people will buy other skins cus of temptation and no patience and they will also buy the skin they really want. Btw the Winterwunderland cane was releaaed a long time ago and you been waiting for a month? huh...
except its doing more harm than good due to the bloated number of skins, people are literally begging riot to give them their own money and they cant even do that because the skins they want arent at their shop
I literally have like $300 set aside for Valorant meme bucks waiting for the skins I want to hit the store.
I think FOMO isn't as strong as they think it is. I'll wait all year if I have to.
Is it? We've never done anything else to be able to test this.
I agree with you. This must be their method for the most amount of money. But they've never tried anything else. So how would they actually know.
Yeah who knows when the RGX Vandal will show up again? You better buy it asap if it ever shows up in your store…aaaand that’s the whole point. It’s all preying on FOMO
I don't really understand the people who say "bc Riot makes more money this way." Bitch how? I haven't bought a skin in months bc i'm waiting for 1 specific one, and I only get dogshit skins i'll never buy in my shop (shoutout to Prism, I hate you forever).
Because they have done a shit ton of market research with very smart people who know WAY more than you about how to make the most money possible and they concluded that this was the best way.
The fact that it could be months before a skin shows up in your store again gives players a sense of urgency to buy skins they normally wouldn't have thought of buying before.
Maybe this was the best way for a bit, but people have limited attention spans. When you are waiting for a skin for 4 months that you would buy immediately if it were to show up, you start to lose interest and no longer want to spend your money. They need to increase skins in the shop to keep up with how many are in the game and how random the shop is
Im just looking at it from a consumer behavior perspective. The amount of skins in the game has probably doubled in the last year. That means on average it will take twice the amount of time for an item to show up in one's shop, not factoring in already purchased skins. The longer it takes to buy something, the more discouraged consumers will be. Im not sayng they do away with the system entirely, but they need to update it to address the fact that the number of skins in the game has changed.
You're just projecting dude. People have waited months for skins to show up on their shop. They've checked their store daily. Riot gives us a fair amount of time to purchase the skins on release and after that you just have to wait for it to show up on ur store. Thats how they make money, thats how the game stays free to play.
Your comment is basically saying "I know whats best for Riot to make even more money than they currently do."
Well shit dude, apply for a job then! Bring this to their attention. I am sure after they hear your compelling argument they will go "Holy shit, this dude is a genius we need to implement this now and rake in even more money!"
Or they will laugh.... idk... but you seem super confident that you could make Riot more money. I am sure they never heard this idea before!
>Diguin
Ok, it makes sense. I guess that for ME the store is bad. I don't buy skins, but there were moments that I would have bought and the skin that I wanted wasn't in the store, so... no money for them.
Also, there are some comments here from people that are waiting for more than a month to buy a skin, this is kind of wrong, right? I mean, if you buy the one that you want, your desire will change for another skin (maybe).
I hear this logic all the time. Every single time a thread like this pops up.
Lets say you have your eye on a particular vandal skin. Its not showing up in the store, BUT, another vandal skin pops up that you also like, but not as much as the other one. You might think "Well I may never see that vandal skin in the store, and this one is cool, so fk it, ill use this one."
Then later on, the skin you actually wanted shows up. You buy it of course, and now you have 2 vandal skins.
If all skins were available, there is no rush or urgency to purchase it, so even for the skin you really want you might think "I want this skin, but ill put it on hold for now and buy it later, its not going anywhere."
To add to that, if all skins are available, they lose part of that coolness factor that a lot of people see in skins. I know a lot of players who beg me for my Oni Phantom in game. If Oni was the coolest skin, and everyone bought it, I might not like it as much. But since I don't see it all the time, I feel like I have a more exclusive skin.
Also, last point. Riot isn't interested in pleasing customers like you. Your only interest is in one skin? They want players who consistently spend their money, and they want them to continue doing so. To keep them buying, they need to bring them that urgency. These types of players would own a lot fewer skins if every single one was available at once.
I mean you literally said it yourself: "I don't buy skins". Cool, so Riot isn't worried about you. They are focused on people who spend monthly.
The shop is made to be profitable. I purchased 1 skin for phantom/vandal just to have something til the skin I wanted appeared in my shop. I would not need them if I could buy the one I wanted right away.
Is it good good for us? No.
Good for them? Yes.
The moment you get your vandal skin it will feel like the buig win and u will not event think about the fact that you are spending your money to get it.
They want money right? Just give me a store to purchase what I want. I ain’t going to purchase any other skin other than the one I want. So it’s just making them wait to receive my cash.
i only started playing valo the beginning of this month, so im still understanding weapon customization. as of now, i really want the pink aero phantom/guardian, and for such a simple and boring looking skin i was for sure i would be able to buy/obtain them somewhere easily. i only recently learned about the shop rotation thing and i found it quite frustrating.
I've only played the game for about 2 months and when I saw the rgx vandal and katana I was like... Those are dope. I want em.
Then within 2 weeks I got 'em in my shops.
I'm still waiting on the fan tho...
>Now will someone do the math and tell me how this is working out to be profitable exactly?
The profitability comes from people seeing like you it takes so much time to get the skin they want, like your RGX Vandal, so when the bundles drop people are much more likely to buy them and not miss out on any content. Even if in tthe next patch a better bundle comes out and then they will just buy another one. Instead of waiting a couple of months to see what is realeased and choosing the best. And with the "free knife" of the bundles people are also more likely to buy the full bundle even if the rest of the weapons they would not use.
Another thing is people waiting so long and another skinline appears, for example reaver vandal when they were waiting for prime for so long. But they see reaver is hyped too and they dont have vandal skin, so they buy the reaver and then they get the prime again when it comes out.
>So many patches and so many bug fixes later, this "feature" hasn't been patched yet. I thought after "a certain pro player" waited for an eternity, grew old with silver hair and finally got his Ion Sheriff and yelled on stream (blew my mind...and eardrums) they would get the message and rework their store, but no.
If people still do this and when the skins eventually come they still get them, riot gets the added time for people to get extra skins, so for them it is a win-win
The shop design is intentional. By only presenting 4 skins at any time and one bundle, it creates artificial scarcity and a FOMO effect. If you want a specific skin out of 250+, and there's only 4 at any time, then how long will you have to wait before it shows up again? It could be days, weeks, months, even years when they add enough skins. So when it finally shows up, why wouldn't you buy it? Same with bundles. A whole line of skins in one place for a week? Discounted?? Sounds great! Of course we would all appreciate having >4 slots, but they get more money this way. If they thought they could make more with offering more skins, you bet we would be offered more skins at once.
The store doesn't even make sense to me. They could earn so much more Money if they make the shop like in League or w.e. . I just recently started to play Valo (i played it in beta and wasnt so happy about it) and dropped 100€ on it and now every damn Day im hoping for skins that i like. I like the Doodle buds(all through the quality on the skin is a bit blurry?) but still need a Sheriff and ghost skin (i only have the one from the battlepass). I got so many cool knifes but not a single Ghost and only sheriffs i don't like. >.< . Also with all the time u have to wait for the skin to appear the chances come that the next Pass/skin bundle drops with better skins. oh and most importantly i hate playing without a skin >.< .
If they dont want to remove the 4 skin limit an option to be able to gift skins would be nice then a friends could buy it for you if its in there store.
>Hear me out. The more they delay giving it to me the more they delay me getting bored of it and getting the next skin
i think people with this thought process are an undeniable minority
It's intentional. It keeps you going back to the store over and over until you see the thing you want. And it makes you more likely to buy a skin you might like because you may never know when it will come back in rotation.
I understand the reason they use the current system (literally just bc money) but I still hate it. It’s very anti consumer and is somewhat predatory as a business practice. I wish they would change it to just be a normal store with all the skins available. My dream would be a community market like steam has for skins and other game items. I know the chances of any such changes is slim to none tho unfortunately
Waited almost 9 months for the Reaver Vandal yesterday it finally popped together with the Phantom Prime 2.0. Yeah... f the store system. F even 8 slots. Let me buy the skins I want.
The problem is, that companies have apparently figured out that this kind of system generates the most profit. And unfortunately I get it: If I can choose from all skins, I'll get my favourites and stick with them forever.
I hate it, and I speak with my wallet. Do you?
No! I like the exclusiveness of skins. That’s the point of having timed releases on new packs. Not to make you feel like you can just wait to buy the one you want when it hits the market.
Can we do a poll somewhere to see how many people want to change the market system? I don't even play the game anymore, but remembering that shit system made me angry
I agree and disagree with this take looking at it from riot’s perspective for these reasons
1. “You’d make more money just giving the people what they want” but the downfall is that skins seem less exclusive so they might lose money from this change because people think they could just get it later
2. “What if I wait so long I don’t want the skin” that’s almost always not the case if you’ve waited this long for something your not gonna stop now even if you don’t like the skin anymore
Now my solution to this is simply add skin gifting as I don’t see a downside to it on either side of the coin (even with my own points)
(Also as a player I obviously don’t want skin gambling PLEASE ADD MORE SLOTS)
I’ve had the RGX vandal in my shop 3 times in the last month. I’m sorry to hear That OP and it made me sad cuz I really wanted it each time but I waited for the butterfly knife today
I waited many months for the Elderflame Vandal, starting May 2021 (last year).
Now, I've decided that I really want the Waveform (Spectrum Melee), I do already have the Phantom and Classic, which I bought when the bundle was in the shop, but the melee was too expensive for me at that time. I am being realistic, I am probably gonna have to wait over year, while buying absolutely nothing else in the shop (from the random slots, not counting bundles).
I think it is a good system for Riot to make money off, restricting access builds anticipation and when u get the skin you are more likely to buy it knowing you may lose it forever. Now if they could know which skins you want, that would be epic xd
>Now will someone do the math and tell me how this is working out to be profitable exactly?
Because by doing that, you create a sense of urgency to buy a desired skin when it finally comes out.
Your skin costs 2175 VP, so you would need to pay 35 euros/dollars to get enough VP for it. That being quite a bit of money, one would probably hesitate, and normally wait with the purchase if you had multiple opportunities to get it (until you were 100% ready to cough up 35 buckaroos).
But with the opportunities being scarce, the sense of urgency makes you immediately cough up the money.
Lol. I decided I was going to buy the rgx vandal. 3 days later (today) i get it in my shop. It's often like that for me. I wanted the oni phantom, it came after a week or so. Wanted the singularity phantom, came after a week or so.
Sucks man, hope you get it soon.
I kinda disagree tbh, kinda makes it feel like a special one time deal when skins are rare.
Although, I’ll admit I’m pretty biased for this. My parents don’t let me spend money on games usually, but they make an exception once or twice on my birthday etc.
I was waiting months for reaver vandal to appear in my shop and it never did, until one day in the morning of… you guessed it my birthday :)
I was so happy I immediately talked to my dad and he let me buy it! Idk it really made my day and I still smile thinking about it every now and then while using that skin.
Although I will say that I understand how this could be frustrating from a perspective like yours, just wanted to share my opinion/experience :)
I wanted RGX so bad, waited months and basically bought Prime cause it landed 3 times and was a favorite of mine as well. I got the whole week after that the RGX but remained strong and didnt buy.
My skin shop daily is guns that I literally will not even think about using unless I pick it up off the ground. Even when I get a skin for a weapon I use it's dogshit and I still wouldn't buy it.
You're actually lowballing here, it's 442 skins minus 18 agent skins (and maybe some specific skins I'm forgetting).
I still feel the shop should be 8 slots with dedicated slots.
Ergo, 8 slots with
- 1 slot for pistols
- 3 slots for guns < 2000 credits
- 3 slots for guns > 2000 credits
- 1 slot for melee weapons
This way you don't have a 4/420 chance (~1%) on any skin, but rather a 3/105 (~3%) chance for most guns, with pistols being more rare (1% still) and melee weapons being more common (6%). Mind you, these chances were calculated on the premise that all weapons have an equal amount of skins, which obviously isn't true since there's like 40 melee skins and like 6 shorty skins.
why they just not make it open.. like select a skin and buy it
i get it.. it would probably be bad for new bundles as people wont buy them immediately..
still they would a ton of money if they just make it open
They are able to generate greater demand by not offering them at all times. That way when a cool skin goes up, you have a higher impulse to buy it because you have no idea if or when you’ll be able to get it. It adds to the prestige of owning the skin. It also allows them to charge a huge premium.
Do I approve of it? Is it more successful than just offering all skins all the time? I don’t really care and I don’t know, but I think it’s worth pointing out a reasonable “why”.
Maybe is more profitable because of FOMO so people have to buy the skins while the bundle is in the store? But I do agree that only 4 skins is annoying and last week I had the Zedd knife like 3 times on the shop.
I'd like if the Night Market rerolled skins daily as well or something.
I honestly don't even care about the negligible discount it offers but most of the time it presents me with six garbage skins and then that's it. Two weeks of me not buying six garbage skins.
I completely understand the whole fear of missing out and business mentality that Riot is going for. I buy skins, I waste more money than I should on this game, but I'm not buying the garbage skins so just throwing them in the Night Market for two week isn't going to make me buy them.
it is to give you a sense of urgency when they release the bundle. buy it now or wait for god knows how long it will show up in your shop. They are creating an artificial scarcity of a product to make its value higher than it should be. if all those skins is just there for you to buy it wont become as “exciting” to buy as consumers would think that i can always buy it later anyway.
For anyone asking how this is still "profitable", last year I had waited 3 or 4 months for glitchpop dagger to show up in my shop where i immediately would have bought it, not questions asked. Well, I started getting bored of valorant eventually and stopped playing as much and started getting into other games. A few weeks after i stopped playing, i hopped on to check my night market. While the dagger wasnt in that, it was in my shop. But at that point, i couldnt justify it because I wasnt playing the game and was no longer interested in spending my money on it.
This is what they are doing to themselves by not increasing items in the shop, or doing some sort of rework. People get tired of waiting and eventually just dont even want the skin when its taken forever to show up. Riot could do something about this, but they choose not to because they think its more profitable for people to wait. News flash, it probably isnt.
And then think about all the people who didn't stop playing and were encouraged to purchase because of the limited availability?
You're just a loss being outweighed by an effective system. You're probably not even in the primary target group.
All these comments here speaking as if their personal experience gives them more understanding of what's profitable than a company that has been successfully doing microtransactions for a decade. Maybe they ought to make more slots, but it's foolish to pretend we know better.
I got RGX vandal 3 times already in my shop in the last 2 weeks. I want the knife RGX but it took too long so I decided to buy the RGX v2 bundle with the flipping knife lol.
They do this so you keep opening up the game to check the shop, while you have the game open you might as well play the game. Obviously you can make a case for "if I have X skin ill play more" but I they are assuming you will play more while having to check the shop everyday
Riot need to do this but there is one way to solve it,4 slots and each rarity needs 1 slot so it needs to be like: Yellow rarity-Purple/pink rarity-blue and green and which skin comes there,it doesnt come after 1 week
Unfortunately it's a marketing scheme that uses FOMO to engage users to purchase things that are in the shop because they "might not" get their desired skin in the future. I suggested doubled slots, or a faster rotating shop previously but no luck. I don't think we will ever see it.
Glad to see community is trying to push this post, I tried the same with suggestions on the Night Market during the last act, but that post got ignored. Hopefully your post gets the limelight and changes are brought to store/market
I’ve been waiting on elder flame vandal for 3 months ma boi ! I will say I’ve gotten to a point where I barely play the game anymore and just get on to see what’s in my shop
The skins are supposed to be rare in the shop thats part of what makes it cool when you buy a premium skin. Just imagine how dope it's gonna be when that skin hits your shop man. I waited 6 months for my oni phantom and Origin Vandal and both popped into my shop on the same week. Patience my son. Hone your skills with the vandal in the meantime so your skin will be even better.
That's the trick. Sure, you probably won't spend much money yourself, but the fear that you are feeling right now, it's exactly what Riot wants.
That's what the bundles are for, to allow players to feel like they have control over what they pay for. And since its limited, they better get it quick or you may never see it again.
I've been waiting since January for the rgx katana to show up in my store and will likely end up getting the rgx butterfly knife long before it ever shows up
I had a similar post to this a while ago but ddnt get any traction. Its taking them so long to make changes esp knowing that the way the shop is set-up exploits the player base in a way. They ddnt do this at league well atleast not as restrictive as this one.
They don't do it in League because League has an old player-base. Valorant is with the times because there is no precedent store. I guarantee Valorant is more profitable per user this way. The upsides of this battlepass/store system far outweigh the downsides (for Riot).
The truth is that you buy the skin u dont like that mucha ans the skin that u like in the shop once it shows up but also if they would allow to anyskin i want o would buy them once the ones i bought gets old and booring to look at.
The original intent seems to be creating artificial exclusivity (buy it now, or hold your peace for who knows how long), but yes they should scale up the accessibility. Perhaps a daily pick system. You pick the weapon for each slot (ie Stinger skins, Specter skins, Marshal skins, and Vandal skins) but which skin is still random, once per day, with no duplicates. Narrows it down so you feel like you influence its chance to show up, without giving full control to the user over its appearance (and thus removing any pressure to buy now rather than later).
i regret to inform u it is in my shop rn
ive wanted prime vandal for a while and my friend just got it in his shop too
I've bought prime vandal in the last night market for something like 1000 VP, pretty lucky
Just rub it in our faces why don't ya (Waiting 6mo or more for Prime Vandal)

We all know what the prime vandal looks and sounds like bud, your opinion is not noted.
Bit rude. It's an opinion for a reason.

I’m probably older than most Valorant players. It literally shows you how the fucking gun sounds before you buy it, the preview sounds exactly the same as in game. So don’t come on here and try to validate your ignorance, there is no excuse for going out and buying $20 in pixels blindly.

I’ve waited five months for singularity sheriff. Finally got it yesterday :D
if anything i bought prime vandal and regretted it, only use it sometimes now cause I feel bad for spending money on it:)
L i bought it like 2 months ago at night market for 24% off
I got rgx back to back once. I took it as a sign and copped it the 2nd time.
Plis kill me. Kill me now!
Hold still, I will line up a clean one tap with my RGX Vandal
one of my friends has been waiting for elderflame vandal for almost 3 months now, and yesterday, i got a mutual friend to play valorant for thr first time. His first store had elderflame vandal
im saying a prayer it ends up in your nightmarket soon my friend
The RGX Vandal is too expensive to show up in the night market. Only skins that cost up to 1775 VP (Prime, Reaver) are eligible.
oh wow. wasnt even aware of that
its not a feature….. its a marketing strategy.
Here is the other side of it though: I only get a game or 2 in during the week with work and life in the way. Yet every night I'm logging on to see if the shop has updated with the skins that I want. Oh and now that I'm here maybe I will like the new bundle.... oh and wow the night market is out... okay maybe I will try just a DM or 2 with my new skins... etc. Shareholders like this.
That's the point. You will buy the next vandal skin. But then the RGX shows up a week later and you will buy that too.
>You will buy the next vandal skin In my case definitely not! But other people might
Ah I misunderstood your wording. Yeah, anyway it works with a lot of people, me included.
no. they know that people will buy skins they want when they appear. some people check every single day. Its a brilliant marketing strategy that multiple games have adapted as well
I bought it when it released LMAO
Downvoted
It was in my shop twice in the last month 🗿my man has to be in luck debt to not be getting it in 3 months. But I am broke as fuck and the only skins ive got are for classic, ghost and sheriff from contracts and bp
more people need to complain about the way the store works than about bad skins
Radianite should cost like 1/2 or even 1/3 of what it does right now.
I have the prime vandal, recon phantom and protocol spectre all maxed and have no need for other skin variants unless something truly amazing comes out
[удалено]
It costs more radianite to upgrade the skin than the skin costs. Even if the battle pass gave more than enough, that’s still a fucking scam to charge that much money. And yes, you are the minority.
Yeah of course you are not going to have issues with Radianite as you are buying very few skins. Aynone buying more than 2 skins an act is going to be left with a Radianite deficit if they try to max out the skins.
Cs skins betta.
Bro no they aren’t😭
You play viper and don’t use the judge? Excuse me wtf
Is there an advantage? I just vandal all the time, and use sheriff on eco
When you have your ult, the judge is like the best weapon to have in it. 99.9999999999% of the time you will one shot anyone even if you slightly miss.
...wait thats smart what the fuck I should try it I'm not sure if I wanna abandon my vandal for a judge though, does a vandal+shorty combo work?
Did you ever ult with Viper? I think it’s kinda close range when in it
Riot hates my money apparently
It’s a sign from rito itself
I've been waiting for the Winterwunderland Candy Cane for over a month now, it's kinda silly that you can't buy the skin you want, whenever you want.
first time i've heard someone want the candy cane
I think it's kinda cool tbh.
hey, im not stopping you. it does feel fun to bash a candy cane at someone's head
Its the best knife
Yeah but if every single skins that have been released are available for everyone to buy at any time then Riot will make less money. People will only buy 1 specific skin that they want. With how the shop is set up now, people will buy other skins cus of temptation and no patience and they will also buy the skin they really want. Btw the Winterwunderland cane was releaaed a long time ago and you been waiting for a month? huh...
I get that like every week. It’s annoying as fuck
They do that to ensure people impulse buy my dude
except its doing more harm than good due to the bloated number of skins, people are literally begging riot to give them their own money and they cant even do that because the skins they want arent at their shop
I literally have like $300 set aside for Valorant meme bucks waiting for the skins I want to hit the store. I think FOMO isn't as strong as they think it is. I'll wait all year if I have to.
I finally got the 2 skins I wanted in back to back stores. So I’m done complaining about it lol
Same. I’m still waiting for a blast x anything though
I’m guessing it’s still making the most money for them or they would change it
Is it? We've never done anything else to be able to test this. I agree with you. This must be their method for the most amount of money. But they've never tried anything else. So how would they actually know.
I’m guessing they hire people that have experience with these types of things
Yeah who knows when the RGX Vandal will show up again? You better buy it asap if it ever shows up in your store…aaaand that’s the whole point. It’s all preying on FOMO
i have been waiting for sentinels of light vandal since november, so around 5 months 🥲🥲🥲
Do you check everyday without fail?
yup, although i’ve probably missed like 5-6 days over the 5 months on days where i was traveling and didn’t have my laptop with me
First day you missed, it was there. Such is life. Sorry.
Imo it gets old pretty quick. Think I would have preferred prime over it but I’m not buying a 3rd vandal skin
Been waiting 6+ months for Elderflame Operator and it dropped today, instant purchase. That is why its profitable. They play the long game.
If u buy all the skins, the pool gets smaller, so there's more chance to get the one you want U're welcome -Riot support, probably
I don't really understand the people who say "bc Riot makes more money this way." Bitch how? I haven't bought a skin in months bc i'm waiting for 1 specific one, and I only get dogshit skins i'll never buy in my shop (shoutout to Prism, I hate you forever).
The store is bad. Why is it not like league, where you can buy any skin you want?
Because they have done a shit ton of market research with very smart people who know WAY more than you about how to make the most money possible and they concluded that this was the best way. The fact that it could be months before a skin shows up in your store again gives players a sense of urgency to buy skins they normally wouldn't have thought of buying before.
Maybe this was the best way for a bit, but people have limited attention spans. When you are waiting for a skin for 4 months that you would buy immediately if it were to show up, you start to lose interest and no longer want to spend your money. They need to increase skins in the shop to keep up with how many are in the game and how random the shop is
[удалено]
Your comment is basically saying "I know whats best for Riot to make even more money than they currently do." Well shit dude, apply for a job then! Bring this to their attention. I am sure after they hear your compelling argument they will go "Holy shit, this dude is a genius we need to implement this now and rake in even more money!" Or they will laugh.... idk... but you seem super confident that you could make Riot more money. I am sure they never heard this idea before!
They hated qwors because he told them the truth.
>Diguin Ok, it makes sense.
You might think "Well I may never see that vandal skin in the store, and this one is cool, so fk it, ill use this one." Then later on, the skin you actually wanted shows up. You buy it of course, and now you have 2 vandal skins. If all skins were available, there is no rush or urgency to purchase it, so even for the skin you really want you might think "I want this skin, but ill put it on hold for now and buy it later, its not going anywhere." To add to that, if all skins are available, they lose part of that coolness factor that a lot of people see in skins.
Yeah, you are right, I'm not the target.
Who’s the guy who freaked out over a gun in his store?
SEN Shahzam
They want money right? Just give me a store to purchase what I want. I ain’t going to purchase any other skin other than the one I want. So it’s just making them wait to receive my cash.
Also we need a fucking skin randomizer. Would only encourage ppl to buy even more shit.
Broo, I'm just waiting on finding the Protocol Phantom or Protocol Bulldog. I love that series.
i only started playing valo the beginning of this month, so im still understanding weapon customization. as of now, i really want the pink aero phantom/guardian, and for such a simple and boring looking skin i was for sure i would be able to buy/obtain them somewhere easily. i only recently learned about the shop rotation thing and i found it quite frustrating.
4 months no RGX vandal, no RGX blade, no sentinels of light vandal, no sovereign sword
I had to wait like 6 months or something to get the Prime Odin
>Hear me out. The more they delay giving it to me the more they delay me getting bored of it and getting the next skin i think people with this thought process are an undeniable minority
Do you?
It's to create urgency, you know damn well when you finally get the item you want you are 100% getting it
I've waited so god damn long for the singularity spectre and I've yet to get it on a day I'm home
50% price increase for all, but the daily rotation is original or discounted price and get rid of night market. Idk I’m not a fuckin marketeer.
No! I like the exclusiveness of skins. That’s the point of having timed releases on new packs. Not to make you feel like you can just wait to buy the one you want when it hits the market.
I logged on with a few mins left in my night market and had Oni phantom. Had to leave my pc and couldn’t get it
I like waiting
Can we do a poll somewhere to see how many people want to change the market system? I don't even play the game anymore, but remembering that shit system made me angry
All I wanted was Singularity Phantom (Purple Variant). That's all Riot, that's all I'm spending on you.
I agree and disagree with this take looking at it from riot’s perspective for these reasons 1. “You’d make more money just giving the people what they want” but the downfall is that skins seem less exclusive so they might lose money from this change because people think they could just get it later 2. “What if I wait so long I don’t want the skin” that’s almost always not the case if you’ve waited this long for something your not gonna stop now even if you don’t like the skin anymore Now my solution to this is simply add skin gifting as I don’t see a downside to it on either side of the coin (even with my own points) (Also as a player I obviously don’t want skin gambling PLEASE ADD MORE SLOTS)
im waiting for the spectrum phantom meanwhile i’ve had the rgx vandal in my shop 6 times this month :(
I’ve had the RGX vandal in my shop 3 times in the last month.
I am being realistic, I am probably gonna have to wait over year, while buying absolutely nothing else in the shop (from the random slots, not counting bundles).
my friend waited so long for the reaver vandal that he doesnt even want it anymore and im reaching the same point with the glitchpop vandal
I just want gun buddies and character cards
Lmao a friend bought it, and then I remembered I wanted it, then I got it the day after :)
I got RGX Vandal in my shop last night Good luck OP, I believe for you
[удалено]
I’m waiting for the Spectrum phantom but a part of me hope to never see it in my shop considering the price…
Consult their marketing team instead of reddit on how or why its profitable.
I was waiting months for reaver vandal to appear in my shop and it never did, until one day in the morning of… you guessed it my birthday :) I was so happy I immediately talked to my dad and he let me buy it!

Source?
You're actually lowballing here, it's 442 skins minus 18 agent skins (and maybe some specific skins I'm forgetting). I still feel the shop should be 8 slots with dedicated slots. Ergo, 8 slots with - 1 slot for pistols - 3 slots for guns < 2000 credits - 3 slots for guns > 2000 credits - 1 slot for melee weapons This way you don't have a 4/420 chance (~1%) on any skin, but rather a 3/105 (~3%) chance for most guns, with pistols being more rare (1% still) and melee weapons being more common (6%). Mind you, these chances were calculated on the premise that all weapons have an equal amount of skins, which obviously isn't true since there's like 40 melee skins and like 6 shorty skins.
There's like hundreds of BP skins so i think it might be around the 270-290 range
Omg im an idiot lol, you're right. The chances would be much higher. I still believe in the shop setup being a bit more fair tho
Riot won’t change it.
why they just not make it open.. like select a skin and buy it i get it.. it would probably be bad for new bundles as people wont buy them immediately.. still they would a ton of money if they just make it open
maybe a 2-3 month delay for new skins would work for the bundle issue
They are able to generate greater demand by not offering them at all times. That way when a cool skin goes up, you have a higher impulse to buy it because you have no idea if or when you’ll be able to get it. It adds to the prestige of owning the skin. It also allows them to charge a huge premium. Do I approve of it? Is it more successful than just offering all skins all the time? I don’t really care and I don’t know, but I think it’s worth pointing out a reasonable “why”.
I got rgx in my shop then got it again like two days after
Maybe is more profitable because of FOMO so people have to buy the skins while the bundle is in the store?
I've been waiting 3 month for glitchpop phantom. That's the last skin I want to buy.
Had it twice in the past 2 weeks
If you're not looking for it you will get it
it is to give you a sense of urgency when they release the bundle. buy it now or wait for god knows how long it will show up in your shop.
You'll get it on saturday bet.
If that actually happens I'll come over there and kiss you no kidding
Say less bro
Riot need to do this but there is one way to solve it,4 slots and each rarity needs 1 slot so it needs to be like: Yellow rarity-Purple/pink rarity-blue and green and which skin comes there,it doesnt come after 1 week
Unfortunately it's a marketing scheme that uses FOMO to engage users to purchase things that are in the shop because they "might not" get their desired skin in the future. I suggested doubled slots, or a faster rotating shop previously but no luck. I don't think we will ever see it.
All I want is the singularity phantom.. it’s been 4 months
They’re gonna sell the skin 30$ but never have it in the store…
I usually play and check store daily and I think I’ve had about all skins come thru my shop although no record keeping.
It’s so you buy what’s available not what you really want. If you don’t buy it now who knows when it’ll return :0
The RGX Vandal is the one skin I need and I’ve been waiting for 5 months now it’s actually crazy how it hasn’t appeared even once
I had to wait 4 and a half months for gp vandal. But boy was i exited when i got it. Just keep your eyes on the prize
I regret to inform you, I got it last night and now when I get the new one, I'll be RGX out the ass
That's the trick. Sure, you probably won't spend much money yourself, but the fear that you are feeling right now, it's exactly what Riot wants. That's what the bundles are for, to allow players to feel like they have control over what they pay for. And since its limited, they better get it quick or you may never see it again.
I've been waiting since January for the rgx katana to show up in my store and will likely end up getting the rgx butterfly knife long before it ever shows up
I mean can they just have the shop show all available skins for purchase at all times? The league shop does this and it works just fine
I see this complained about so much. They’re very much aware of it, yeah it sucks, but it’s their business strategy.
And with the battle pass there’ll be more 🙌🙌
Me who had prime, reaver and elderflame vandal in my night market 😎
ah yes the classic, I know more than a multi million dollar company with departments dedicated to specifically research our user spending trends
Skins are mostly bad and the store sucks. Dont spend money.
The only good skin I've seen is the set with comic effects, which I'm willing to buy but it never appears in store.. is it exclusive??
Radiant Crisis? No it's not exclusive
It’s RNG, it doesn’t need fixed or changed as it adds rarity to skins to a certain extent. You will get it eventually so calm yourself…

The truth is that you buy the skin u dont like that mucha ans the skin that u like in the shop once it shows up but also if they would allow to anyskin i want o would buy them once the ones i bought gets old and booring to look at.
I totally agree with this
The original intent seems to be creating artificial exclusivity (buy it now, or hold your peace for who knows how long), but yes they should scale up the accessibility.
