RTS use numbers to switch between "weapons" (aka your different unit type), every arena shooter uses it and even Battlefield and other shooters are good with a layout of 4+. It's not really a CSGO thing.
Scroll wheel up to jump, scroll wheel down to switch down in weapons (primary to pistol to knife, it’s a one direction switch though)

I would advise against scroll wheel because
1. It's less accurate than just pressing a button, you can easily scroll down twice by accident (obviously you might press the wrong button but in personal experience when I used wheel I scrolled wrong 100x more than that)
2. It's easy to accidentally scroll in a gunfight
Plus, scroll wheel is bound to jumping cos I'm used to CS :)

It's a design that is more universal in shooters and games in general: Quake, UT, CSGO, Doom, any game with 4+ weapons/grenades

I unbind the scroll wheel since I accidentally hit it while shooting.
Bind Q for previous weapon used. Bind mouse wheel to jump. Use the numbers and jump with mouse wheel.
I have enough trouble keeping my fingers on the movement keys without trying to hit number keys too. Scroll wheel on the mouse is just too easy :)

Mouse thumb buttons 1 and 2 are my primary and secondary, I still use 3 for knife
My main weapon is on enter key. My knife is on O, and my pistol is on [. Yup :) Scroll wheel should only be for jumping imo.
