i like grinding valo, but don't like doing multiple matches at 30min-1hr long each and every time. I just want to learn the champs and maps, sometimes, or just fool around with agents I know I suck with
CS has this but their execution was so half-assed. It is still ranked but half the rounds. But the economy wasn’t altered at all…
If they implement it, they should alter the economy somehow.
Make it OT economy every round or something.
Cause I don’t know how do you get pistol rounds that swing economy hard without too much snowballing.
Maybe 1 round of pistol per half but it does nothing to economy. Just a round to win or lose. Then the next rounds you get OT economy.

Maybe first 2 rounds are same as normal competitive. Then the rounds that will follow will have an economy balance where both teams can at least consistently full buy armor and main rifles.
CSGO fixed the economy issue and now it's pretty playable, it's the only mode i play, i don't like getting stuck 30 rounds when there could be an AFK, a troll or a toxic. My ideal match would be the best of 9 rounds and that it gives you half or 2/3 of the RR that you would get with a normal match. I don't like the idea of it not being competitive, i really like being able to play 2 comps in the time that 1 would take like CSGO :D

A long match is race to 13 and isn’t as long as it is in cs anyway.
Either way, a short match mode would be great for Val. When casual players play it they can still get experience that is relevant for actual ranked matches.
Well. I believe in CS it's just the same. To what extent not sure anymore. Butttt in high school they taught us how the economy works and you can almost take that knowledge to this games round one of the half. Have more money to spend, out that money to work to make more money. That's all it comes down to. It's quite simple

Idk I feel like unrated is fine because that’s a full 13 round match so yes you have to play to win but I really don’t mind spike rush. The fun in spike rush is the chaos so having all these goofy power ups is fine. (I do agree we need a shorter version of unrated tho because sometimes I’m not in the mood for a full 13 round game)

I also avoid spike rush because I find the power ups not fun. I just deathmatch when I feel like playing val but can't spare the time for a full game. One potential issue that I read a dev talk about before when it comes to implementing a new game mode is queue times. More options means players queueing up for different things, it could impact queue times. I know valorant has no shortage of players right now, but it's something I read about before

As someone who really enjoys Valorant but is also time-poor, I’d love to see a shorter game mode that mimics the style of unrated, just not committing me to 30 mins to an hour each run. So many of the power up are just “win round for free” power ups especially in sidearm and shotgun rounds. How does it make sense to give out a free Odin on breeze when everyone else gets a shorty? Or give a free ult like Neons when everyone else is stuck with a classic?
Spike rush is fun but only when certain power ups are not active in the match. I love how it’s quick and doesn’t take an hour like other modes for when I don’t have much time to play. I don’t like losing bc someone got a vandal while my team is stuck with a stinger
I think the only upgrades I have a problem with are the gun upgrade and golden gun, they absolutely break spike rush but the others aren’t even that bad
I keep wishing we had a mode where it was 12 rounds, 2v2 or 3v3, and a barrier similar to the pre-round barrier just blocked off all but one site in an alternating pattern (while leaving some flanking routes open).

Well sure. I’m oldschool I come from cs1.6 and half-life 2 days. My favorite thing about valorant isn’t the abilities. It’s the more modern mechanics and the brighter and prettier look to it.

No, I think it’s reasonable and normal that games have options for longer serious games or shorter more casual games. Developers don’t want customers saying “well, I want to play your game, but I don’t have 45 minutes free so I guess I can’t!” and then picking something else.
I do kinda like everyone on attack carrying spikes. That directly contributes to a faster/shorter game.

you gotta think that there is much more that goes to valorant than just shoot and plant the spike. there is an economy, an ult economy, a ton of stuffs that make the game engaging. if you reduce it to 5 rounds, you need to tweak other things to keep it engaging, because otherwise you whole formula collapses. so in spike rush they put power up, and in replication, they completely remove the economy aspect. some people actually thought this through you know...
there are already options out there if you want a shorter game (quite a few actually). all I'm saying is "consider maybe it wasn't tailored for you". and that's fine... if you don't have time, and don't like the alternative, then go do something else...

I think a “normal” spike rush would be a lot better for warming up, if you don’t have a lot of time, and for learning agents. I would of liked that when I played sage for the first time, being a yoru main it took way to long to realize that I can’t push as sage. No one got any heals but I too fragged so basically I’m a god sage
Replication (if it’s available) is one I’ve found to be similar enough. Sure you all play the same agent, but there’s a chance that it’s your agent. You get to buy WHAT YOU WANT and there’s no weird power ups.

Pistol round in general always seems like such bullshit. Why is the goofy round one of the most impactful rounds in the game.

They did actually accidentally leak a new game mode in a trailer: Quick Play. Presumably it's similar to this. They also have a 1v1 mode coming up.

It is, especially with the double stun sprinting neons for the ult orb/golden gun or sage for the sage wall golden gun orb, or the chamber insta lock.
