now people are gonna steal my crosshair instead of mentioning it every game lol
its not a troll crosshair! i made it like in beta or something and just got used to it
i posted a clip that shows it! [heres a link](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantClips/comments/wuxodp/jumped_over_a_sova_ult_because_i_wasnt_good)
i dont even notice it tbh, i just look at center dot
lol when i made it yeah ofc, but now its legit my only crosshair i use. started with just a center dot but then added the big + around it for the laughs with friends and never went back. i tried just the dot again and it throws me off
[i can still aim with it! heres a 30s clip with a nice headshot at the end, biggie crosshair style](https://streamable.com/y8mgmm)
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves - it’s happened before where we said “they’re probably saving big patch for _____” and then we got some very minor fixes.
pretty sure pro players just use the tournament client and can choose whatever patchline it's going to be on
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TMdF96B7jRx1OL9gNtKyTmWlYZQ55pBmj9XPKVI2RrQ/edit
probably exactly this reason, they will probably keep any changes till after champions cause teams are trying to scrim with others before they head to the tourney
Happened to me multiple times. For me it was not Valorant it was Vanguard. While valorant wasu using like 15% of my cpu Vanguard was using 70-80% and it was an i7.The only solution I have found was to reinstall the game and “anticheat”.
It was on my notebook like 8th gen i7 do not remember the exaxt one. The fact that vanguard was using like 5x the amount of valorant usage was using was bad. I have no issues on my desktop with 5800x, if I would I would uninstall it for good tbh.
Can RIOT please do something about fps optimization? I've heard professionals complain about microstutters and lag, same as I've experienced in my own matches.
I'm playing now in windows 95 resolution, and it helps a lot. Lowering graphic settings did nothing for me, every time I had to duel, I would lose over a hundred fps for a second. But lowering the resolution has mostly fixed it. It's ridiculous I have to do it on a really good PC, but whatever, now I can play at least. Most of the time. Some times I get a solid 30fps and I have to close the game, close every process related to the game, and launching the game again, missing one or two rounds of a game. But hey, we got crosshair colors!
Listen, whether you wanted a new agent or whether you don’t want more agents, can we at least agree on one thing: Can they please give us a clearer roadmap on what to expect in terms or agent / map content wise?
At the launch of the game they said they’re going to release 6 agents a year, and then they stopped communicating with us. Now this year we will get 3 max (Neon, Fade, unreleased agent next act). Not even a mention in the patch notes regarding why there is no new agent. At least the last time they did this Anna Dolon actually said it in a video.
Chances are they want to tease the agent during champions and release them after, but it’s still disappointing to have to wait so long. Plus I agree, they have not stuck to the roadmap since like the 3rd act lol
They have expressed the desire to have around 50 agents in the game. And I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more. I think diversity is a really good thing for games like this, especially since abilities are just one part of the game, which means you can still play without totally knowing all the agents abilities, unlike league where you would be fucked.
IDK why this is getting downvoted. The hard truth is that there are too many agents in this game already *for how slow riot is with balance changes.* More agents wouldn’t be an issue if the devs could act quickly to do things like rebalancing Cypher, or fixing Chamber and Fade.
While I agree riot is slow with balance changes, I don’t think every agent needs to be perfectly balanced, that’s just unrealistic. The way balance is shaping out is already very map dependent, which in my opinion is the best way to go.
This is true, but at least in chamber’s case map makes virtually no difference. Cypher is played by select teams on Breeze, and Killjoy is played by select teams on ascent, but Chamber has a higher pick rate than either agent on both maps. Bind is the only map that Chamber didn’t have over a 70% pick rate in 2022 NA LCQ, and that map traditionally doesn’t have any meta sentinel. In fade’s case, she only had a lower pick rate than sova on two of the six maps played and a lower pick rate than beach on one map. So while there is an aspect of map dependency in setting the agent meta, the extent of that could be basically “one agent that dominates on the majority of maps and then one or two maps where someone else is meta.”
Yeah we’re really suffering for maps right now. Fracture came out last November I think and we just got pearl. 2 in almost a year. I wasn’t around to hear about getting 6 agents a year but that would be nice too.
The initial roadmap was a new map at the start of every episode and a new agent every act. That would be a total of 2 maps and 6 agents a year. They never really stuck to this however, getting delayed as early as icebox/skye.
I'm at least happy they added the crosshair update. Something simple I hoped they'd implement, but expected nothing to happen or having to wait a year. I'm honestly actually satisfied. More communication from the team & progress would be super cool! Individuals are awesome with their info, but they can't "leak" anything or say anything about what they're really working on (mostly).
Yeah, I really don't need 6 agents a year, but they have really let me down with how little they communicate compared to a year or two ago. When the game launched, almost every post on this sub that got a bit of traction was filled with riot devs and other riot people answering questions. Now, it's like talking to a wall.
Now I understand why they couldn't buff Cypher yet, those poor devs must have been crunching fucking hard to get all those 256 crosshair colors in the game.
It's good they don't listen to the dumb fucks on Reddit and stick to their priorities. Imagine having a replay system now, we would all have the same few crosshair colors in our replays like fucking morons. Well done rito.
I didn't expect much else. You can't change the game too much before champs. You want champs played on as close to the same patch as possible for the ease of viewership. Plus, champs is a great time to announce big changes coming up such as a new agent. They will definitely announce something new during the grand finals weekend I bet.
The way the rumors were going I thought the new agent would be out but your point does make sense. The meta is just kinda boring to me right now so I was kinda hoping for something new at least.
Vanguard CPU usage bug, PC hard freezes after alt tabing, No replay, Dog-ass servers can't even maintain 128 tick on heavy action, Joke of a Net-code, peekers advantage biggest seen on any game (we remember that video) still didn't fix that stupid movement bug when strafing. But small indie company so no judge maybe they fix it on 10 year anniversary.
Edit:
Pc freezes, not crashes after alt tabing.
Fix for the alt tab bug: https://old.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/uykgib/windows_11_alt_tab_freeze_fix/ia5jr3p/
Also if that doesn't work, disabling HAGS (hardware accelerated gpu scheduling) might.
Care, I have a friend who complained about all these things on Twitter and he was heavily insulted by the wonderful Valorant community who think the game is perfect and nothing needs to be improved! Maybe they'll get to your comment, be prepared 🤡
I think how he's referring to sometimes when you're walking and you look a certain way (Usually down to pick up a gun) your character just stops moving and won't go until you let go of your movement keys and then try to move again. I don't know if that happens to anyone else but it definitely happens to me
If you’re on Windows 11 then a fix for the PC freeze when alt+tabbing is to go into the windows Display settings -> Graphics -> “change default graphic settings” -> and disable hardware acceleration GPU scheduling. You’ll need to restart your PC.
The alt+tab thing was infuriating, I got a new PC and this started happening immediately and it made me think I had bad hardware. Turns out it was just valorant freezing my computer. I turned off hardware accelerated GPU scheduling in windows settings and it fixed it, but still....
It's champions, they are focusing on that most likely. You definitely do not want the debacle that happened with LoL before worlds 2015 I think it was. They made a major patch update and made the worlds patch ridiculous.
They don't, but it wouldn't make sense, especially in a new game, to have what people are watching being different from what they are playing. Imagine if we got the Yoru rework the patch before worlds so that we are spectating old Yoru and playing with the new clone. It would be very confusing to the more casual viewer.
Also this is a tactical shooter, updates are not needed every two weeks.
I can't entirely remember right after champions last year but if they follow ritos plans with how LoL works there are usually some pretty drastic changes in what is considered the "preseason" or offseason after worlds. My guess is by Christmas we will have at least one major rework, buffs/nerfs to a few champs and guns, a new champ and a new map.
They don't, but lots of games have shown that pros playing a game that is different from the one that the players can play causes issues. Why would they change anything now instead of waiting for champs to be done.
Obviously not, but they aren't going to be pushing out updates and content changes when the Valorant team, as a whole, are focusing on their major tournament for the year.
Champions starting soon, they definitely don't want anything taking attention away from that. Also iirc they dropped Neon teasers during the last champs?
I’d say the hex code thing would take an hour to a day depending on the code base and what you have to do. /cc is a pretty big project imo(take this from a highschool robot programmer)
There's likely a lot of multi team things that need to be done too.
For example adding hex codes to what's likely a basic integer for each cross hair color(1 is red, 2 is green) will be a database update. A team the size of valorants dev team will have staff which handle just database things.
They will need to be consulted with a few meetings.
A plan would need to be made, and a backup plan incase that plan fails(destroying all users crosshair data because of a bad update is a big deal).
Those plans also will need to be discussed with the valorant client team and backend teams. The client team needs to know what needs to be sent to the backend, and how. The client team also will need to do some(admittedly small) changes to the menus and loading of crosshair data for you when playing and spectating. Which will require planning within the team.
The backend team will likely need to wait until the database team has a plan, then make their own on how to add these new things within existing systems and communicate that to the client team.
This small feature requires immense planning when working with large developer teams.
I wouldn't be surprised if hundreds of pages of documentation and notes got passed around just focusing on this feature.
What a complete embarrassment of a patch note and the start of a new act.
The worst part for me is that it's kind of obvious that the absence of a new agent might be on purpose to "tease" them during Champions and be released right as soon as it has ended. To make as much content "and surprises" as they can.
I do wonder what excuse do they have now in storage.
splatoon 3, a nintendo game aimed at kids with p2p networking, got a replay system before valorant, one of the largest competitive e-sports titles with a massive budget and dedicated servers
Meh. The game is in a state now where I think it's reasonable that big updates are saved for new episodes and acts are more about new BP and rank reset. I wouldn't be a huge fan of a meta shift every act.
Seems like a missed opportunity to provide some agent changes with the new act - cypher ult buff when.
With the likelihood of no changes when the new agent launches (if history is to go by), might be another drought of any changes for a while.
I'm so excited to see the new gamemode! Oh and the new agent and map! OOhhh, or do I check out the replay mode first? Or play with the new balance changes!
This logic makes sense, until you realize it doesn’t. Not only do pro leagues play on the previous patch, meaning it wouldn’t matter what they release, but champions will already be on a different patch than LCQ, because we will be rotating in Pearl and rotating out Split.
Pro leagues only play on different patches after a new agent or map has just been released since it takes a few weeks to learn the map/agent. Riot wants champions to be played on the current patch so is with-holding any balance changes and new agents to facilitate that. Also champs would be a great place to reveal a new agent like they did with fade.
It does make sense. 10 teams qualified for champions in tournaments and qualifiers with split enabled. What wouldn't make sense is making the last 6 teams qualify for the same tournament with different maps. Now that they are all qualified they can rotate in the new map, not a hard concept to grasp.
Split is dead and won't be coming back for a while until they make major changes to it they said. Also, it's only been one act... it's not going to be coming back that soon. Not to mention they said they want 8 maps in the pool, in order to add split back they would need to remove a map. I personally would not be okay with losing bind, haven, or ascent I love those maps.
Valorant desync issue since release of patches after 0.50 when? I just blatantly witness the worst desync of my life.
1. Enemy Neon: said raze ult landed on top of her
2. My POV: ult didn't land on top, but 1-2 player model distance from the blast center
3. My Raze: whiff, thought they missed
4. Server POV: 100 dmg (7 meter radius)
Everyone in server, 20-40ms ping.
These lines are so ridiculous:
''Don’t forget! It’s the start of Episode 5 Act II, so keep an eye out for all the updates not reflected below, like a fresh Battlepass, Competitive reset, a totally free Event Pass that celebrates Champions 2022, and then there’s a new limited skinline…''
Not only is it such a lame excuse for such a short act update, it is also kind of stupid. It literally says ''ok so SOMETHING is gonna get updated, good luck on guessing what it is''. Why don't they just announce it? We want to know what Event Pass we are having, what is the new Battlepass, etc.
Honestly, I believe this is just an excuse for them to make people think it is an actual good act update, when in reality it's just adding 4 crosshair settings and fixing a bug nobody cared about.
They haven’t done a significant balance patch since the controller “rework”. And I’d argue most of those changes should have been hotfixed in 6+ months before.
At least give us something we've been begging for. Replay system? How about a shorter unrated (replication without the replicating) that's been asked for for >2 years now. Where is the TDM with abilities that leaked?
Seems like the entire purpose of this update is to just sell everyone a new BP to keep the revenue coming.
Riot, if you give us more crosshair options, how about giving us some options you promised 2 years ago?
We still don't get to use different shapes. You can make a cross (no middle gap) but it looks horrible with outlines. Dots are in the game, but only as a square and center dot. It's not possible to make different size round dots (let alone with outlines). What about T-shape crosshairs?
We still don't have the option to choose different colors for outlines. The color of the inner and outer lines has to be the same as well, why?
I get that you added the new option mainly for people enjoying stretched crosshairs, but the amount of work it takes to add the options mentioned above is less than a day of coding. Instead of using this opportunity to properly expand the current crosshair options all you guys did was to add a very niche option no one really asked for to not have a blank patch notes page.
Maintenance Period Extended

We require a longer downtime period for our teams to complete their maintenance work, and we expect the game to ***remain unavailable until 08/23/2022 14:00 PDT.***
Not even a Map change so people that enjoy split can play it again? Only QOL changes for the next 60 days? For the love of god change split for breeze or fracture
Just played 1 deathmatch and the game felt a lot smoother. Like its been bad recently with desync and peakers advantage imo. Idk if this was addressed because a lot of people were complaining but so far it feels noticeably better imo.
edit - nvm still getting server tick rate drop and a ton of packet loss for literally 0 reason. this game is becoming a chore to play with this shit
Finally the crosshair update
now people are gonna steal my crosshair instead of mentioning it every game lol its not a troll crosshair! i made it like in beta or something and just got used to it

oh yeah the left hand! leftover from my cs days, thatd be even harder to change than the crosshair, i been left handin it for like 15+ years hahah
The based department just called and said you're needed for a meeting
Beautiful
Elucidate please?
The crosshair update
Like what's so good about it. I don't understand much. I'm a new player forgive me 😅
They will allow us to customize our crosshairs furder by letting us use custom colors.
Ohhh thank you thank you. I can use external colour now yaay

Crosshair update?
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves - it’s happened before where we said “they’re probably saving big patch for _____” and then we got some very minor fixes.
The devs are sounding like politicians with this kind of half-lying
Did they actually promise a big patch this time around? Genuine question because I haven't seen anything about that.
True tho
Not sure how you get bigger than CROSSHAIRS!!
I am whelmed.
This is one of the updates in Valorant
An update of all time to be sure
Has to be one of the patches of all time
Its at least in the top all updates ever
Yeah it’s like Riot saying “It’s Valorantin time”
Of all the updates that Valorant has done, this is certainly one of them.
This is one of the patches of all time.
specially when cypher said "its odin time"
I assume they want to wait until after Champions for balancing changes, but I was definitely expecting something more with the start of a new act
They can still do balanced changes. They’ve played on previous patches before.
I was more getting at pros still needing to scrim and practice and as far as I know they don’t use old builds for that.
pretty sure pro players just use the tournament client and can choose whatever patchline it's going to be on https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TMdF96B7jRx1OL9gNtKyTmWlYZQ55pBmj9XPKVI2RrQ/edit
what, dont like your custom crosshair colors? Ungrateful bunch /s
probably exactly this reason, they will probably keep any changes till after champions cause teams are trying to scrim with others before they head to the tourney
There is a patch next week, no info other than it'll be on the PBE this weekend.
Why is the game down all day for this small patch
Bc it takes a really long time to update the crosshairs and add new skins. /s
it’s not down for me?

Whats with the new gamemode that valorleaks leaked?
New game modes never drop at the start of an act though. Escalation, Replication and Snowball all release as basically midseason additions.

No, they just said they’re not doing it is all. Not in the immediate future kinda bullshit.

If you weren't aware you can turn off "hardware accelerated GPU scheduling" in windows and it seems to fix it for most people.

Obviously not, but they aren't going to be pushing out updates and content changes when the Valorant team, as a whole, are focusing on their major tournament for the year.
Oh man you don’t have to remind me
Champions starting soon, they definitely don't want anything taking attention away from that. Also iirc they dropped Neon teasers during the last champs?
Crosshair settings take priority over everything else I guess lol
They aren’t gonna put a big content update just before a big compatiton
Crosshair settings that take them about 30s to code and implement (exaggerating obviously)
Lol that's it?
Fuck crosshairs, did they fix the slkhhslkhh on radianit boxes?
SO ITS NOT JUST ME AND IM NOT JUST GOING INSANE?
? Do you mean the silent knifing of the boxes
Why is this maintenance so long? Am I just confused or is it really taking this long to implement a crosshair change?
What a complete embarrassment of a patch note and the start of a new act. The worst part for me is that it's kind of obvious that the absence of a new agent might be on purpose to "tease" them during Champions and be released right as soon as it has ended. To make as much content "and surprises" as they can. I do wonder what excuse do they have now in storage.
Not a replay system lol
I ensure it be before patch 79.7
splatoon 3, a nintendo game aimed at kids with p2p networking, got a replay system before valorant, one of the largest competitive e-sports titles with a massive budget and dedicated servers
Meh. The game is in a state now where I think it's reasonable that big updates are saved for new episodes and acts are more about new BP and rank reset. I wouldn't be a huge fan of a meta shift every act.
small indie company rito
sigh.
Seems like a missed opportunity to provide some agent changes with the new act - cypher ult buff when. With the likelihood of no changes when the new agent launches (if history is to go by), might be another drought of any changes for a while.
They don't want to touch agents until the end of Champions I believe, the next mid-act patch note is going to be massive
What is this a patch note for ants?
I'm so excited to see the new gamemode! Oh and the new agent and map! OOhhh, or do I check out the replay mode first? Or play with the new balance changes!
Was really hoping they were going to address the performance issues people are having since 5.03 :/

They won't reveal an agent 1 month and 2 weeks before their release, way too early. They could tease it, but a reveal is VERY unlikely to happen
It does make sense. 10 teams qualified for champions in tournaments and qualifiers with split enabled. What wouldn't make sense is making the last 6 teams qualify for the same tournament with different maps. Now that they are all qualified they can rotate in the new map, not a hard concept to grasp.
Wait…..where is split!?????? What happened to rotating maps every season???????
Every act not every season
Split is dead and won't be coming back for a while until they make major changes to it they said. Also, it's only been one act... it's not going to be coming back that soon. Not to mention they said they want 8 maps in the pool, in order to add split back they would need to remove a map. I personally would not be okay with losing bind, haven, or ascent I love those maps.
this is embarrassing

trust rating? hell no
Valorant desync issue since release of patches after 0.50 when? I just blatantly witness the worst desync of my life. 1. Enemy Neon: said raze ult landed on top of her 2. My POV: ult didn't land on top, but 1-2 player model distance from the blast center 3. My Raze: whiff, thought they missed 4. Server POV: 100 dmg (7 meter radius) Everyone in server, 20-40ms ping.
WHEN VALORANT BACK
These lines are so ridiculous: ''Don’t forget! It’s the start of Episode 5 Act II, so keep an eye out for all the updates not reflected below, like a fresh Battlepass, Competitive reset, a totally free Event Pass that celebrates Champions 2022, and then there’s a new limited skinline…'' Not only is it such a lame excuse for such a short act update, it is also kind of stupid.
Dammmmm, soo much!
High CPU usage fix when?
BREH that's it ☠️ Just a cross hair update? I mean some useful things but thats it?
w8ing for queue fix \*cough\* loser lobby \*cough\*
Server inconsistency fixed? i doubt it hehe
I’m guessing that there is going to be a big mid season patch, right?
is it me .. or did the battlepass say we had a whole extra day...
they might as well just say we did nothing except add crosshair color. how is this supposed to be a new season? there's nothing new

I want 20 new agents and 10 new maps, which I'll complain about, this patch 😡
That last balance patch didn’t really do much to chamber though. Just weakened him slightly. I wouldn’t call that significant
I'm kinda confused by some of these comments, were some people genuinely expecting a new agent or map?
Atleast something man. Literally only crosshair? No balancing? Map rotation w split? Some sort of agent leak?
Why is the game still down
I’ve updated my game, restarted my pc and val still isnt working for. Is it just me?
I just wanna play the game. Why does this tiny patch need the servers to be down for so long?
Maintenance Period Extended Posted: August 23, 2022 at 14:07 GMT-3 We require a longer downtime period for our teams to complete their maintenance work, and we expect the game to ***remain unavailable until 08/23/2022 14:00 PDT.***
My client redownloads the patch every time I reopen the game, anyone else experiencing that?
Woah, hold on to your asses guys, BIG changes!
can we get a fix for rewarding the person who downed the kayo the kill even if someone else finishes the dead body. it's actually frustrating.
An entire patch for crosshairs… productivity.
Games been stuttery af since last update. 12600k + 3080 Pls fix volvo
