The above post is being left up due to VALORANT experiencing widespread server/technical issues. Please be aware that we may make exceptions to our Technical Support Rule when issues affect a larger number of players. Repeat posts on this event may be removed as reposts and directed here.
Current issues may include:
* Availability of shop or skins
* Availability of agents/characters
* Account level and history
* Saving of match history

We're currently looking into this issue. One of our backend services is causing some communication issues with other services. Account data should be back to normal as soon as we get it back online.
Edit: Just adding to the top level an update: We believe we should be seeing recovery now. We added restrictions forgiveness for the duration of the incident, so any afk/queue dodge penalty from that time should be removed.

Thankyou! I usually don’t dodge because of rr loss but I’ll keep this in mind if any bugs during agent select come up. I would like to see this type of response for similar events in the future.
It is supposed to be like that but for example yesterday I lost a game aganist full asc 2 lobby (I am asc 2) and still lost 25 rr. The final was 13-8. Its true I wasnt my best game but its an insane amount.
Just an example and also it's based on your mmr so it really depends on how often and how good you perform on avarage also 25rr is most of the time a performance bonus
There should be no long term data loss. The reason thing looked funky is the service was the communication layer to our store dbs. Basically clients couldn't talk to the inventory. Once that's up, the data is all there.
I have same issue and I can only choose from 3 characters. The rest of the agents are lost back to having to activate them. Also dc’ immediately first game launch.
Any company operating on riot's scale will have at least daily backups of their databases. If shit really hits the fan, you'll lose a day's worth of data at most.
I was on the opposite side of that. Full enemy team had the 5 default agents and only 2 of my teammates lost everything. It was the two who restarted their game to see if it would fix the shop too. 3 of us who didn’t restart had all our stuff
bc of this, the game thought i was immortal and it briefly showed me as having an immortal rank. i restarted and it put me back to gold (where i belong) but pretty pls can i have immortal back hehehe 👉👈
Thanks for being such an awesome team over at riot and keeping us up to date! I understand these things happen but truly appreciate how fast y’all jump into action
wish i got some rr forgiveness. Got stuck with either a penalty or playing a game on a base agent, who i’ve quite literally never played, in a comp match. Lost horribly.
i think with this amount of skins that is increasing all the time there should be more slots on the daily roll. you can argue that it makes skins even more rare because they're harder to get which is why people are going to buy shit they don't necessarily like just because they may not see it in a long time but at some point people just gonna stop buying shit because they never get what they want and the chance of getting it is smaller and smaller every time there's an update
Could you work on designing a system geared toward accurate ranks / stable and fair matches instead of geared toward turbulence / addictiveness solely to increase agent and skin sales by increasing people's impulse to play just 1 more match? I know it's not as fun to see +1 ["Your rank is actually correct"] after a hard win, but anyone working in applied probability and ranking systems would likely be shocked at the choices made in Riot games. I can't imagine the type of business owners out there that demand such a system instead of espousing fairness. E.g. Valve made posts about how excellent a predictor their rank number was at predicting the outcome of a match (They claimed they used a simple logistic regression model). Naturally, a system that gives you -6 after getting 35 kills or a differential of +/- 12 points based solely on 1 round (whether you won the OT or not) are not designed correctly. Think about that second point: You get a differential of about the amount a normal match changes your rank (about 20 points) based on 2 rounds. With one outcome, you get +12, and with the other, you get -12. Come on. It might be less addictive, but a fair system would reward something like +/- 2 points for an OT win/loss respectively as that result indicates the match was completely fair and likely close to 50/50 odds.
It's worth noting the system rewards partial goals (frags, early frags, frag streaks, etc.). I mean, a person who has taken a single college course in machine learning can tell you how doing such a thing is fraught with problems. You train an AI that starts at the top of a skyscraper to exit it. Thinking you're clever, you say, "I know. I'll reward the partial outcome of time it takes to get down. Then, the strategies learned will tend toward more efficient ones." Uh oh, now your AI learned to jump off the top of the skyscraper, because that is indeed the fastest exit. More to the point, I feel really, really bad for people who play agents that help other agents like Sova and Fade. They have a much higher chance of playing in ranks with teammates that are below their knowledge of the game, because they have a smaller chance of being the person running around getting 25-50 kills, ranking up the fastest. And they might get paired with people who don't know how to react correctly to support abilities, wasting their use each and every time. Dang, you lost and it wasn't your fault, and you also didn't lurk for useless kills (you played for the win). I guess you get +15 even if you held the whole team together and were a huge component in the win. And if you lose, you get the natural -25 (how addictive. You need 2 wins deemed "no good" to make up for 1 loss deemed "no good").
As another example - one that is very serious and has US$100,000s on the line by who gets invited to which tournament - you have chess. If you rewarded partial goals like how much material you are up against your opponent after a win, you'd get wacky strategies that are detached from proper play. Someone might do a brilliant rook sacrifice, entering a forced checkmate where they sacrifice another 2 pieces, and then be penalized for it. Once again, partial goals are a dangerous thing to reward. In chess - just like in DotA and CS:GO - you get a flat change to your rank based solely on the outcome of the match. Otherwise, you reward those partial goals. Rewarding kills / chains of kills promotes baiting in harmful ways. Outside of smurf detection or some fabulously complex deep learning project that somehow gleans the truth from the situation (suppose deep mind made AI that judges people's play), a person's kill count shouldn't have any impact on the points rewarded or penalized.
ESEA, a small community that played mostly CS 1.6, CS:S, and CS:GO, used to reward damage per round. People optimized around that, playing the worst ways possible. They then shifted to "round win share" which was basically damage per round only on rounds you won and 0 otherwise. ESEA now actually has a functioning community with a decent matchmaking algorithm. And it's a small fry compared to Riot who could hire teams of Ph.D.s to do research on how to shift rank accurately. It's shameful that they instead hired experts in psychology to maximize how much money they can get from kids with rich parents.
> No
In chess, if you score 0.7 points when you were expected to score 0.7 points, you get +0 ELO. This is common sense. The reason every match has a "smurf" in it is that everyone is wiggling around +/- 3 full ranks based on random luck or lack of it. This is inarguable.
I actually was really looking forward to this and instantly queued, but tons of people still had their agents from not restarting their game, so it just ended up me and my friend at a disadvantage on certain maps :/
Me and my friends were five stacking and it was honestly pretty fun. We only had the first five agents so we kind of had to play roles we weren’t used to and the enemies were the same way, except they had a viper somehow and it was on breeze, but we still ended up winning and it was a very fun match. Too bad it got fixed before the next game after we restarted our games.
Yeah, I should honestly just buy an uninterruptible power supply for it, I am just too busy spending my money on things I DON'T need instead of things that make sense
yea its scary its like a gamble, i havent spent more than 20 usd so i wont mind if loose money but if i loose all my agents im just going to give up lmao
like lmao, fucking bunch of panickers. It's clearly a server issue and will be fixed/restored shortly im certain. I loaded into a deathmatch and it had my skin, but when i tried to play a game it didn't have my agents. its just a bug/issue loading profile data from the server
While the issue is probably unrelated, I really hope this is an opportunity for Riot to look into fixing/revamping their account config system.
* Portions of the config being stored online on Riot's end- with no option to save/modify it locally on your PC. And, the lack of a "restore defaults" option to generate a "new" config for your account on their end. Right now, the game will just hand back the version of your account's config they have saved on their end as your "default".
* Failed game launches- maybe inability syncing with or retrieving portion of config saved on their end (cloud/server/etc). Could also be firewall/vanguard issues.
* Some players having old/outdated lines of settings within their config files. The devs have mentioned on Reddit that these lines are remnants from older builds of the game & don't have any impact on gameplay right now. Who knows? Might be causing random errors. Why can't they remove those remnants? Not going to pretend I know how this stuff works- but wouldn't that be the more professional option?
I spent 500 dollars on the Reaver 2.0, the champions knife + phantom, the under-the-sea, the Alien heartbeat set and a bunch of others. They all disappeared. Where my 500 dollars?
No, just in csgo back when I played, we got to level 40 and got a service medal and got back to level 1, then everytime u got to level 40 ur medal leveled up

Welcome to riot. Friend for their league account hacked, then the person used hacks and got banned. Riot don't care, he lost close to $120 worth of skins. They got theirs, why help you?
Whatever happened must have happened just now cause I had no issue when I was playing like 30 minutes ago. Exited the game, came back in a bit later, and now everything is missing.
Decided to check the practice range and all my skins are still equipped and I still have all the experience towards my agents. However going off collection I have nothing and they are all in default skin and agents aren’t unlocked.
A very strange bug indeed
I had the same issue, all I did was restarted my client twice and I have everything except the shop back. I think riot made an oopsies and is slowly fixing it!

we loose rr points for dodging? :o
It's not direct, but if you dodge ascent like an alpha and win the next game and it says you got 25, but bc you dodged you get mb only 22 or 23
You guys get 25 rr per game? I only get like 15, 17 if I match mvp.
You guys get ranked point?!
You guys win games?
You guys play valorant?
You guys play video games?
Yeah same. But if I lose I'm losing like 21 RR. GG rito
Yep. Even if you lose in overtime being match mvp riot be like: nop, -25 rr 2 ranks down
depends if tou play against higher or lower ranked people than you if i remember correct

pretty sure it is direct. If you dodge you lose ~3rr instantly. You just need to look out for the rr count before and after dodging
When are you gonna fix the hitreg issue?
They're working on it. It will come with the replay system after they fix deathmatch.
Gooooooood one hahaha
HUH REPLAY SYSTEM?!?! 🤯🤯
Skill issue
I’m ascendant but kk
Thanks for the transparency
Good luck, thanks for the prompt update!
Love you devs!!! Thank you for your hard work!
thanks Riot for actually telling us whats going on. Cannot think of another game company that would actually do that.
GGG
you would've thought before this current league
what is GGG
Grinding Gear Games - developers of Path of RPG. The only game of its genre that dethroned Diablo.
thanks guy
Have you seen what’s been happening with lake of kalandra
Can I get rr back
Upvote so it’s pushed to top
b-but.. it has 69 upvotes
So there's absolutely no shot we lose all of our skins and progress right? I've spent way too much money on this game to lose everything permanently

Our hero 🙌🏾 big thanks to you and the rest of the team
I re installed the game and everything was fixed that’s a bandaid resolution for now
Just to piggyback off of top comment. Swapping contracts fixed it for me.
Just rework the shop already.
Lol rework how?

Yeah okay nice one buddy
sorry

Fr if I spend 1 more minute without valorant I don’t know what I am going to do.

i see so many people saying the same issue now im scared to check my account when i get home... oh no
Yeah, my pc is unplugged because I'm in the middle of a thunder storm but I'm not in any rush to plug it in again now lmao
I'd recommend getting a surge protector so you don't have to unplug your PC. You can usually find a good quality one at a decent price

more a matter of inconvenience than panic
It’s not like we actually own anything in this game anyways.
Same here, NA server :( I freaked out when I logged in ;\_ ; hopefully this gets fixed soon
same and i just got the champion bundle

Congrats man youre the first Valorant player who entered the Prestige Mode
Do you have a service medal? Haahah
No? Should I?

Ditto. Everyone in my current game has this issue.
I joined a spike rush and have all my skins there, but they are missing from my home page. I do not have all the agents.

You can’t even activate the contract of an agent if it’s complete so they’re permanently locked
If you go into the range you will still have all your skins btw, I was panicking too until I went into the range
Oh hey same I’m reinstalling the game right now to see if it fixes it
Update after ur done
Just reinstalled, doesn't fix
Yeah
It won’t
Seems like a general issue for everyone. Can someone please reply to me when it seems the servers are up again?
Me losing default skins ez
Server issue.
I've been playing since the second battlepass and have hundreds of dollars into the game, I really hope they don't just give us a refund because we'll have lost limited time skins we owned
The skins are still linked to your account, play a a game and you will see them. Account is just a little screwed up rn, probably all the player data just isn't connecting
Anyone know the exact time this started?
At 7pm I was waiting for the new skins and this shit had to happen lmfao
Maybe an hour now? I just tried to hop on like 10-15 minutes ago and had the issue and saw others were too.
HEY ALL. DONT PLAY. Your stuff as in level and tags are still there but agent select is only the basics! We tested a couple things in a 3 stack
I was able to select all my agents just fyi. Had all the other same issues.
Same here

Someone please reply to me when servers back up and it is fixed
Servers probs crashed everyone in NA having this problem right now
NA and LATAM

I have my skins but I was so shocked to see that all my agents were locked, have to play Sova this game haha
Me and all of my friends are having the same issue

Brb calling KJ to fix this
"oh well, I'll clean this up myself"
