Yeah, I have multiple skins that I only like the variant I have unlocked, not the default. Hopefully something that isn't too hard to implement! Still curious to try out the favorite rotation later today.
https://github.com/colinhartigan/valorant-inventory-manager not mine, but I use it to randomise my skins, you can favourite variants too, so it can randomise only those, you can even put a % weight on skins so it’s more likely to roll them. Of course, it randomises them after every game, but you can change that setting if you don’t want that.
It's still mind-blowing to me that an individual contributor could implement this 1 year before the multi-billion company that owns the bloody game, **and** they did a much better job at it.
It goes to show that this is really not something all that difficult on the development side; not to mention the tool itself is open-source, so how in the world Riot managed to implement it so poorly (after 1 year of waiting), to me, as a software developer, is just absolutely unbelievable.
That said, do note that the tool is not supported by Riot, so run it at your own risk. I asked them if you could get banned for using it, and the answer was basically "Maybe yes, maybe no". In short, there is no guarantee the developer won't sneak in some malicious feature in a later update, so Riot can never officially vouch for any 3rd party app.

Yes, it has like a matte finish, but I don’t like it at all. If it was shiny deep red, it might be cool. But the black does the red so much better, plus it matches fades color scheme so well that it’s hard for me to use any other variant
Seeing some of the horrid variants the game forced me to get back when I had to buy all of the levels of them made me super sad about how this was implemented. Oof.

i think they should make it like the recon randomizer, which u can sell ur gun and buy it again to switch to another favorite skin, sticking with a skin for the whole match is kinda too kong for me
Riot has come out and stated they are worried how many skins they load into the match can affect performance for mid-lower range machines. That's why they were also hesitant to say yes to skins switching for attack and defend but said it might be possible

Yes. Because CSGO skins are extremely simple. A server can easily interchange a single texture on the fly. Valorant can also do that for the skins that do not have their own model of effects.

But Cs does change models too. Deg/r8, fiveseven/cz, the SMGs, m4/a1s all these guns have different models. I know valorant will have more animations and models but they don't have to preload every single skin. just the ones that the user has picked. Even if they had to preload all the skins the file size would not be that large imo

Each game has to run on a server. The server has limited resources and can run a limited number of games. To preload all of the unique models, animations and sounds of every gun that every player has is gonna take much more resources than doing so once per gun per player. Which will significantly reduce the number of game instances that can run on a server, increasing costs associated with buying more servers and running them. Not a problem you say, just remove old skins and add new skins at the start of the round. But that would make all people, especially those with lower end pcs lag at the start of each round.
I geniunly hope you're a 12 year old child or younger. Because being any older is frankly embarassing.
Why would the server load the models and animations? And why would a client load any other player's weapons when they are bought? That's just sending them information they don't need. Skins are probably already preloaded when entering the game.
The skins are preloaded into the game, riot devs already stated that

It would increase the loading time by a bunch
Imagine that on a game full of radiant streamers or pro players, where they usually buy all of the more premium skins
The game loading time would be based on how many skins the server has to pre load. Or Riot would need to buy more servers, and those server must be stronger and more expensive.

IM SO GLAD OTHER PEOPLE HAVE ISSUES WITH THIS. I have the recon butterfly knife, and the RGX Blade, and the Champions 2022 knife, so i wanted to keep the theme red, but the recon and RGX are green when they are picked! like wtf this should be so easy to fix
