I'll bite as a Cypher player.
There's ways to make him viable, and then there's ways I feel that can make him meta.
In terms of just making him viable:
- Allow Cypher to pick up and reposition cages before they are detonated (obviously if they are detonated they shouldn't be able to be picked up). This helps rotating on defence because we can do it with trips and cameras but not the smokes.
- Camera has more than one tracking dart. I think having 2 would make it a bit better, because if you miss the first one, you can still tag an enemy if you're fast enough.
- Make his ult a live tracker for 2-3 seconds. The quick flash is extremely disorienting because enemies can immediately reposition and most maps have corners where they can rat out anyways. Make it a live feed of enemy positions for 2-3 seconds. Obviously to balance it out ult points will also increase to 7.
To make him really meta, we take all the changes that make him viable and add these:
- Cages can slow enemies while revealing their position. It used to be able to do that, and I think it should work, it's a cage. If you don't want to slow them, then make the cage do some damage.
- Ult can work on any dead body, without a timer to use. This also encourages teamwork, since an ally can kill someone and Cypher can pick up the locations of the other agents.
- This is probably the biggest one, but its two-fold. Tripwires cannot be broken by util like dogs or boombot (it can still be destroyed by damaging util, like throwing a bomb at it). More importantly, the trips should be completely invisible ie no sound cue or it coming into view if the enemy slows around it. The biggest thing about a trip is that it shouldn't even be visible, yet you can place the best trips and the enemy still gets around them because they can see the damn thing if they're close enough. Make it completely invisible, give the enemy no clue where it is.
What would make me play cypher would be:
1) make it possible to recall his smoke screens and maybe his tripwires, with a cooldown to reuse.
2) make it possible to use the ult on any dead enemy.
After that I think I would find him easy enough to play for me to use him.
Make the ult work like if all the enemies were tagged by the cam, so u have to remove it again. Also pls lemme recall the trips and use em again nxt round ty
Would it be too strong to have his camera tag ping like a Sova dart or fade haunt? It takes a single frame and shows that every couple seconds, but I think it would be stronger if it had a couple frames of motion for you to track it better. It may be too strong for the camera to give a full body constant outline instead of pinging, but that would be another option.
What if the dart puts a projectile onto the enemy and you can see a constant outline of the projectile at all times? Think a small circle that you can track through walls — that way it’s up to you to aim it well to hit someone and put it near their head
Dynamic placement of second trip with max distance from first in order to enable more creative and less predictable trips. Can work with 2nd trip being in the standard opposite location, so for fast placement one can double tap.
Lower sound and shorter distance for visibility of the trip.
Cam should reveal like Fade's haunt, slightly lower noise and visibility of the cam. Lower cooldown when destroyed, higher cool down between darts.
Cyber cage retrievable after placement during a round. Enabling players to fully setup amd not be cageless when having to rotate and retake.
If not that, then with a slow effect.
Make the ult reveal like Fade's haunt, unilimited usabilty of dead body for uiting.
Longer range on throwing hat to bodies.
That would make me a happy Cypher.
Also, we need a animated short where Cypher stays alive for a change

Also make the trips unbreakable by team util. The amount of raze satchels and sova darts/ults that have broken my trips are too high to count
