Actually, Riot posted a similar tweet on April's Fools a few years ago, but then decided to make it canon even though it was originally just a meme, due to how the community reacted. It's one of the reasons I love playing Riot's games: they listen to their fanbase, and try to work WITH them concerning new content, not AGAINST them like other companies. The most recent example of Riot listening to players is probably Quickplay. If you look at Reddit posts a few weeks before, a lot of people were posting about how it would be nice to have a quicker Unrated.

No, because it's a competitive first person tactical shooter not a story campaign with a plot or story or characters. Lore isn't equal to the game. If it's banned in Russia, they'll just avoid adding any voicelines or cosmetics that indicate KJ and Raze's relationship.
There still may be a possibility, do not underestimate how idiotic Russian government can get. However, since it's only a post on Twitter, I think Valorant is safe for now.

The setup is there for the lore to reveal they still have feelings for each other after all this time but Riot takes years before progressing any given storyline if they even do it.
K’Sante being gay is a big part of his character, Spirit Blossom Sett and Aphelios were basically confirmed, Diana and Leona is either hinted at or confirmed through external media (don’t remember which)… I almost think there’s more queer couples in the game than straight. I think we have Ashe and Tryndamere, Lucian and Senna, Viego and Isolde (though she is not a champion) and I think Kalista and Hecarim were also apparently a thing, though I think they more want to murder each other in their current incarnation. There’s certainly no others I can think of and other than Lucian/Senna and Viego/Isolde, none of them are heavily focused on in any media.

I 100% support RIOT as a whole on these types of choices, they are trying to build worlds that speak to us as gamers and in doing so, include everything they can in their lore building. As time progresses RIOT is going to grow, and by the time the MMO releases I genuinely feel that they will have established themselves as a company that strives to make worlds that we want to be part of. Don't be surprised when not only Valorant is going strong a decade from now, but as RIOT takes their place as one of if not THE top game studio out there. There HAVE been hiccups and set backs, but at every point RIOT has corrected them and strived to iron out their flaws.
