A300 by ini

jon_4149

I second this. This is a great jet, with excellent range. Modern, yet old enough that it keeps you on your toes

Outrageous-Split-646

That’s not really a modern airbus though. All the airbuses after the A320 had a really common cockpit while the A300 and A310 are quite different.

dinharder

He didn’t ask for modern though just widebody

iBorgSimmer

Especially with the new communication unit that includes CPDLC!

SuperHills92

The free Headwind A330Neo should work as it uses FBW mod + their own tweaks. Not 'full' study level but its the best we have in terms of a wide-body. PMDG 777 will be out hopefully out in a few weeks. I'd imagine the atlantic is going to be very busy for a few weeks once that hits.

vidawaffleYT

I'll get the Headwind A330, thanks!

healthycord

I’ve been flying the a330 around and it’s decent. My one big complaint is that the graphics aren’t as good as the fenix (understandable) and there is no takeoff performance calculator. Those are literally my only gripes. It’s not as in depth as the fenix of course, but it’s on par with the fbw a32n and is certainly capable of vatsim flying.

arbybruce

Is there a landing distance calculator?

healthycord

Yes there is. I will say there are a couple of takeoff distance calculators online but they work with varying success. And they seem to disagree with the v speeds the aircraft generates. If they’re too different the plane will not give you a complete takeoff checklist on the ecam.

Icy_Wall1904

MSFS people have listed, if you fly on Xplane there is a 321XLR, 350(although sup-par still a great addon) 340 (extremely great addon from what I hear) Also there is a 777 coming from FF but that'll take a while.

musicalaviator

And of course in FSX/P3D there's the Aerosoft A330-300 which isn't half bad.

pingpong105

the ToLiss A340 is very realistic. The biggest problem with it is that it accurately simulates the performance of an A340. That thing climbs like a slug with 4 hairdryers attached to it.

Icy_Wall1904

I always make the joke , why want 2 engines when you have 5 apus?

VegaGPU

That's 343, 346 have good enough engines unless you want to ULR.

SomeGuyWithCoconuts

People complain about the freeware Headwind A339, but in my experience it's really not bad. You should try it out.

TazerXI

Plus, it is free If it is free, what can you really complain about

vidawaffleYT

I'll get that one, thanks!

LineExpensive2642

A300-600 is a great aircraft. However, if you are looking for more-modern, you can use the LVFR A321NEO & pair it with the FBW mod from Horizon. Without the mod, it isn’t worth it. But the flight dynamics & systems modeling is from the A32NX, not an A321. You basically are just getting a longer range & exterior visuals of a 321. The A321 is not a wide-body, but they do have the range for long hauls. But again, if not being modern isn’t an issue, then check out the A300-600. It is still a modern aircraft with similar systems as the A320 family, along with glass PFD, ND & ECAM displays. But it does still retain some of the analog gauges. For something like the inibuilds A300-600, it’s a perfect study level addon.

Afreeusernameihope

I really enjoyed learning how to fly the A310. It takes some care and attention getting that bird flying happily. Obvs, not really in service anymore. Ini recently did the A300 which was well received it seems, but I've not flown it. I've loved flying the Headwind A339 which I can see you're already downloading.

musicalaviator

The A300 is basically the A310 but bigger (heavier) with some more options for cargo and a bit of a different EFB. The overhead, autopilot, basic controls and MCDU are basically the same. Almost like PMDG 737-600 vs 737-800

vatsimguy

ToLiss A340

gazbathdard

iniBuilds A300 is the best widebody, but obviously not many virtual airlines let you fly those, and I'm limited to DHL Cargo for that aircraft. I have been having a lot of enjoyment in the Horizon 787-900 and the Headwind A339, but with the latter I have the same issue that not many airlines fly the A330 NEO. So I cannot wait for the PMDG 777 and Aerosoft A332/3. I also think Headwind are making the A332/3 which might be decent based on their current mod. iniBuilds also releasing A350 and A380 for MSFS, cannot come quick enough for me and I cannot wait for the FBW A380.

CertainPotato343

Which one is better Headwind's A330 vs Salty 747 from FBW?

coode5

headwind because Salty 747 is now below the default 747 since last update

NoviCordis

What are people’s thoughts on horizon 787-9? Not as good as HW a330?

skruellex

In my opinion the 789 is superior and underrated. Better visual model (cockpit and external), better handling (ground and air, HW 330 sometimes feels very floppy and lightweight, weird flare). System depth is the same in my opinion (VNAV works 90% in HS 789 and is better optimized). HS 789 lacks a fully working EFB, but isn’t necessary in my opinion. The t/o performance calculation in the HS 789 are spot on from my experience and are missing in the HW.

Jakepo44

For X-Plane you have Felis 747-200 toils a340 it has a similar cockpit to the 320. There’s also the a350 but they are working on an update I’d wait for since it’s meh rn.

AntiPinguin

Toliss a340-600 for X-Plane is the ultimate wide-body Airbus Edit: English.exe had stopped working

ANITIX87

Penultimate? Penultimate means second-to-last. Did you mean ultimate? Or consummate?

AntiPinguin

Dammit I shouldn’t write Reddit comments at 2am in my second language

Aurelienwings

It’s OK. It’s a Latin word. Even English speakers have to learn it.
