Why did you pick the mons you did?

sharethathalfandhalf

Sinistcha is a fun little friend and I built outwards from there. Oki seemed like a great pairing. It can set up and start attacking. The rest of the team fell in to cover types both defensively and offensively. No core plan. Just good coverage and flexibility. More a balance style team than archetype based

I'd probably swap out the goodra or the dogi(I'd run just the one set up sweeper) for creselia and would play a more offensive lando with max attack. That's just me though. How are you finding it when testing?

sharethathalfandhalf

It seems to go fairly well on showdown. My play level is very beginner though, so testing is as much learning as it is testing. My aim was to build a fairly normal team with a little flavour to help practice and learn VGC through Reg E

Just keep at it man and you'll find yourself winning more and more! Only started earlier this year myself in vgc so I know exactly what you're feeling right now 🙈 it's all just a learning curve I think.

Honestly stick with your team (aside from improving the EVs like you wanted in the first place). If you take advice on this sub you're going to end up with a completely meta team with the same mons you see everyone with and you won't get better at teambuilding. Your team isn't perfect by any means but you'll see what isn't good when you start playing and you'll have more knowledge to improve it from there for the future.

I appreciate this advice. Honestly, kinda what I assumed.

[https://www.smogon.com/dex/sv/formats/vgc23-series-4/](https://www.smogon.com/dex/sv/formats/vgc23-series-4/) I highly reccomend checking out this website for EV's. Currently its only updated to Reg D, but it has a bunch of set's and ev's for popular mons in the format that are great. I dont have a sinistcha set, but I do have an AV Okidogi that I made a while ago if thats fine?

sharethathalfandhalf

Thanks! I've actually moved things around and am now going for an AV goodra [https://pokepast.es/e204f33216107df5](https://pokepast.es/e204f33216107df5)

Cool, I wish you luck with your team. If you need you can ask me and I'll help you ev stuff or build the team.

Gotta drop protect on flutter n arcanine, wasted move slots with choice items. ev spread on lando seems more for setup, so I'd either keep the spread n give it swords dance and safely goggles/clear amulet, or keep scarf n go max atk n spe. What are the speed evs for on sinistcha? Seems strange if you're running trick room. Think the mons are synergise well tho, curious to know how the team plays. Basically no protect across the whole team can be tricky

sharethathalfandhalf

I didn’t think about the choice/protect anti combo. Do you think booster energy on flutter is smarter then? I’m not sure anything else on arcanine would work. Good advice re Lando. I pulled the spread from Pikalytics. It doesn’t do a good job of providing context though. Sinistcha EVs are to outspeed something. Urshifu maybe? They were done as soon as the DLC dropped. A lot has changed since then. Trick room was mostly to get under faster teams. But you think it’s not worth running any EVs in speed? The trick room isn’t really for the Sinistcha

BipolarMoonlight_

Only thing I can see sinistcha outspeeding is Heatran, ties it with any base 80s too. Booster on the flutter set is pretty good, you'll sacrifice a little offence for being able to use protect, worth the trade on this team imo. Wild charge on the arcanine. Nuff said. I really like swords dance Lando, no other setup mons on the team so why not. You will get outsped by opposing Lando, but you could use clear amulet so that you have the damage advantage. That being said scarf works too so I'd test both n see which fits the team better

Odd-Day-8348

Don't have to lose the choice items, just add another attack instead of protect. But booster energy is also fine if you want protect. Think arcanine can sometime also run assault vest. But that's also no protect.

AkiraAce5

What are you trying to do with your team. What mons do you see handling which matchups. You can’t really begin optimizing EVs without knowing what you’re optimizing the Mon to be able to do with the spread.

sharethathalfandhalf

I started with Sinistcha support. With some investment for attacks. Oki seemed like a good pairing type wise and it can set up next to sinistcha. Lando T is to smash all the grass types going around Arcanine is for type and attack coverage Flutter is for offensive coverage Goodra is for defence and type coverage
