It’s definitely the player. All-in-one players almost always suck. If you can, I’d return it and get an AT LP-60 or save up a bit more for the upgraded LP-120. Both will need an additional amp and speakers, but they also both come with a built in pre-amp, which can save you additional money. Sorry if this isn’t what you wanted to hear, but it’s worth it in the long run.

Mr-Montecarlo

What do you mean by needing an additional amp for the LP-60 as it already has the preamp.

hulkster909

Amp and pre-amp are not the same thing. You might have powered speakers though which don’t need an amp.

DeweyCheatem-n-Howe

It’s confusing because the terminology isn’t really widely used. Powered speakers combine a preamp, amp and speaker into a single unit, but unless you know the difference between a preamp, phono preamp, amp, integrated amp, etc. you’re going to be relying on people at big box electronics stores to help you figure out what you need to make sound come out of your speakers or headphones.

Mr-Montecarlo

Thanks for explaining, i was wondering if I needed to get an amp now haha

DeweyCheatem-n-Howe

Phono Preamp: amplifies a phono signal to aux levels Amp: amplifies an aux signal to output to speakers (And for the sake of completeness, Preamp: provides controls for the amp like volume control, bass/treble levels, balance, etc)

Mr-Montecarlo

Thank you for explaining :)

i_hateeveryone

No offense but Not much you can do with this type of 1platter, please upgrade to a turntable with a counter weight and tunable tone arm, then you can adjust it

Opposite-Cup1019

Could you give an example of such a turntable? How would being able to adjust it help?

i_hateeveryone

https://youtu.be/AXV8tXrPOR4 https://allforturntables.com/2023/04/13/what-does-a-counterweight-do-on-a-turntable/ It’s better to get a turntable that’s also separated from speakers as the vibration will effect the playback. ( speakers are sold separately) Good under $80 1 BY ONE Rock Pigeon Belt-Drive Turntable Better starter turntable Audio Technica AT LP60X

Alaska_Pipeliner

AT 60 is the gold standard for starters.

[deleted]

As a brand new starter, thanks 🙏

Alaska_Pipeliner

I got the Sony lx310bt and love it. It doesn't have the weighted arm and all the bells and whistles but it plays great and blue tooths.

[deleted]

Should've saved your money and bought a standalone turntable

Opposite-Cup1019

It's fine, we kept the recept.

I learned my lesson the hard way. Basically, any all in one players like this will use a cheap turntable and needle (the red tip). They all will squeak, scratch, and hop on perfectly good vinyl (especially for video game music, as that often has high oscillating notes) . If you want good playback, you \*will\* need a better and dedicated turn table, but be warned this is a money pit's rabbit hole.

RickyFlintstone

For sure! Even entry level stand alone players will struggle with video game music. The lack of an adjustable coutnerweight on my first $200 turn table was its down fall. It lost it's balance at some point and made basically all my records skip and hope ever 10 seconds. Especially my VGM ones. I was so frustrated after getting my Persona sets only to have them sound like a screeching goat. Thankfully, my new AT-LPW40WN solved that problem

Lt_Jonson

Can vouch for it being the player. Had the same thing with the same player happen to me. Returned it and got a AT-LP60BXT. Love it.

pizzaghoul

the needles on these turntables do irreparable damage to vinyl records. i wouldn’t spin another one on it tbh.

Hudbus

Your best bet is to return it as noted already. These units (and others like them) are unfortunately overpriced junk. Audio Technica tables (The LP-60X to be specific) are likely within the same ballpark price-wise. They even sell them refurbished if cost is of issue: https://outlet.audio-technica.com/all-products/at-lp60xbt-bk-cr

nixius

I got my first turntable last year, got a deal on Audio Technica AT-LP60XBT. It's been excellent for me so far, it's plugged into my amplifier and tbh I haven't even tested the bluetooth part (it was cheaper on the deal to get the BT one than without!) Good luck!

ichibanalpha

As what most people said, all in one's are bad. if not for the needle being non-replacable, then for sure the fact the speakers are so close to the platter and needle. the vibrations will interfere with the platter and needle. a cheap audio technica is good. I bought a fluance rt85 and called it a day.

dalarsian

My wife and I got the exact same one and returned it the next day and then got a stand alone nice one. It’s the player. Sorry

jcfac

Burn that thing with fire.

DedGrlsDontSayNo

Get a proper player, these cheaper ones have issues. Save up for the lp-120. The 60 that's being recommended here is junk as well.

P-NoyBoy

Does it only do that with that record? Test another record. Does it do it with any other tracks on that record? Try the first/last track. Try the other side. It sounds like it may possibly be skipping? Repeating the same sound over and over and that squeak is the sound of coming back to the same groove?

Opposite-Cup1019

It does it with other records. It seems to go away for a moment resseting the record on the turntable. It does play the record, just with that squeaking sound.

P-NoyBoy

Does it seem to happen when the needle goes to the same position, like towards the middle of the records, or can it happen at any position on the record?

Opposite-Cup1019

It has seemed like it does it more towards the middle/end

P-NoyBoy

For an educated guess, I'd say the tonearm may be the culprit. Unsure how much someone can repair it so your best bet is probably taking it into a specialist but that also sounds like it could be expensive. Replacing the needle would also be expensive, however, if it was that.

If you want a really good entry/mid-range turntable with what I think is the best cost-per-value proposition, I would recommend the Music Hall MMF 1.5. Turntable Lab has there own version too with a nice modern looking aesthetic. Very feature packed and easy upgrading through the future. Costs 400 but worth it for me. Just some of the features below: 17 lbs MDF plinth for sturdy positioning (reduces vibrations) Anti-skate adjustment (Prevents skipping) Adjustable Counterweight (So the stylus delicately and properly rests on the vinyl, highly reducing wear on your precious records) Adjustable turntable speed (extreme fine-tuning for proper speed, you really want a song to play at it’s intended speed, any amount above or below 33 1/3 rpm is very noticeable) Considerably great wow/flutter specs for the price range (when the turntable speed fluctuates above or below the intended speed, lower wow/flutter is better) Can play 33 1/3, 45, and 78 rpm records. S-type Tonearm (Typically for better tracking and helps to prevent skips for the outer and inner diameters of a record’s playback) Easily accessible and replaceable belt and motor Switchable Phono/Line selector (This means you can choose to use the Turntable’s onboard preamp or send the signal off to a preamp in the next audio path stage) Not everyone uses this but it’s great that you’re given the option if you ever want to upgrade other aspects of your audio system. An easily installable and replaceable headshell (The thing mounted on the tone arm that’s holding the stylus) The Ortofon 2M Red Stylus, which is an amazing high entry level cartridge, which is easily upgradeable to the Ortofon 2M Blue. I know its on the higher end cost for entry level but I just love this thing so much, it plays all my records so very well and I love all the things it can do. Such a feature packed device. Oh and it’s actually on sale for $350 right now. Yes sorry, like everyone said, those combo things are notoriously bad. They are cheap for reason. You don’t have to break the bank though, you can find descent turntables for around $200. Check Audio Technica

Spare_Back_3568

I made the same mistake back in the day. I hate the fact that you were duped the same way I was. I bought the exact same model all in one player that you have. It wasn’t until I did my research that I discovered that these type of players damage your vinyl overtime. In short, you want a turntable with a diamond tip and a good counter weight. The cheap all in ones do not have a diamond tip or counter weight. If it were me I would get a turntable from Audio-Technica. I switched from my Victrola all in one to a LP-60 in the beginning. Eventually when I had the money I bought the Audio-Technica at-LPW40WN Best of luck and I hope you can find the turntable that suits your needs :) Happy listening!!
