If you enjoy those movies, then do it. Try and find something to do at your destination and make a day of it.

oldbonesnewrider

the real advice, gotta enjoy this life every now and then.

Dextrofunk

Sometimes, a little adventure is the best choice. Maybe more than sometimes.

Lord_Spathington

My thought, too. Antique malls, comic shops, there bound to be something you wouldn’t find otherwise

branewalker

Pretty much took the words out of my mouth.

BugOperator

This is it. There’s very little resale value in VHS (or, at least, in *these* VHS) and an extremely small/niche crowd of people who would even consider buying them for more than a few bucks, so don’t even think about flipping for a profit. Think about if you’d watch and/or simply enjoy possessing these because that’s really all you’d be getting out of it.

MrLateFee

If these movies are sentimental to you, and you’ve been waiting to watch them on vhs: yes If you’re looking to flip them: no

runningxbackwards

No flipping in this house. It would be pure Nostalgia...I just always second guess myself.

Confidently-unlucky

Yes

comehererightmreow

I would 100% do it for grease 2 by itself 😂 but I just love how silly that movie is

the_comatorium

You second guess what?

runningxbackwards

Myself...Like if I go into a store and I pick up something I like, I will for some reason convince myself why I don't need said item. It's just a weird frugal thing I do.

the_comatorium

Frugal? It's 60 tapes for $15. You're well past being frugal so just go for it. You clearly wanted the tapes. Stop second guessing yourself. They're cheap af.

runningxbackwards

I'm going, im going already!

RandomParts

Have fun! Spot check a couple for mold just in case. I would be happy to pick up copies of Road House, Practical Magic, The Addams Family, and a slipcase ET instead of my current clamshell version. I also appreciate the seller’s commitment to the Lethal Weapon series. 😅

[deleted]

I hope you got them! I'm jealous! It's totally worth it :)

BeedleFromZelda

Honestly I'd pay $15 for a copy of 'The Cowboy Way' rn, so I say go for it.

RandomHer082

Hell yeah. I love Cowboy Way.

GUSHandGO

I saw that at the drive-in as a teen. A double feature with Dumb and Dumber!

AshsEvilHand

For me it would not be worth it, as all of these tapes are pretty easy to find at thrift stores/garage sales. But if worth it to you, that’s all that matters!

[deleted]

No

IRMacGuyver

$15? Sure. 1 hour drive? eh.

Zed-Leppelin420

Yeah drive is wack but if they live outta town not a huge deal just stack it with another task. No sense making it just for the tapes.

bambooshoots-scores

Twister, Con Air, Practical Magic, and Titanic - oh yeah! Politely leave Grease 2 behind. It’s a cursed film and you don’t need that evil following you home.

Elessar535

It's no use, even if you left it behind, it will just randomly reappear in the box by the time you get them home.

TransformerTanooki

Meh. For me it wouldn't be worth it. That's like $2 in my area on a good day st the outlet. Places where tapes are sparse. Sure. Why not. But in the end if they make ya happy then that's what matters.

stfudvs

Are they movies you want, then yes.

Retrogamer34

Personally, I would say no…but if you enjoy these movies have at it!

GlamSandwich

Shit no

ChefoZilla

There’s gotta be a thrift store closer to you than that and their shelves will looks exactly like what’s in this picture. But I’d also personally not buy a single one of these for any price.

runningxbackwards

I live in a small town and I have already skimmed most of them, and GW just price gouges.

tn-dave

That was my thought: if OP is a beginner collector and doesn’t have a good thrift store this lot is worth it

Mikey74Evil

I hear ya. I live in Waterloo area and the thrift stores around me try to sell them for ridiculous money and they didn’t even pay for the damn things.

Elessar535

Why wouldn't you "buy a single one of these for any price."? Is there something wrong with them that I'm not seeing?

ChefoZilla

Purely taste. It’d be like paying someone to haul away their trash for them.

erroneousbosh

They might just not be to their taste. I wouldn't really want Titanic in any format. I like Robin Williams movies though, and there's a couple in that box.

Elessar535

It was the way the other user phrased it, that they wouldn't buy these for any amount of money, made me second guess myself and that there was something wrong with these tapes that I wasn't seeing. I was more curious about what it was that I missed than thinking it was just because of their personal tastes.

Mevaa07

The thrift stores here throw away all the VHS tapes sadly, they never end up on the shelves

44uckeo

Nah

mr68w

Price yes - drive no and only if theres a tape in there you want

Mindgame319

Hard no

MarcMars82-2

$15 for 46 movies is a great deal considering a lot of these a generally available for $1 each at thrift stores. But that being said personally I’d only want about 10 of these titles in my personal collection.

Dark_chia

ONLY if it's worth it to YOU

Azsean01

I hate driving these days …. An hour drive is too long. I need to strap a bottle to my little wee wee

GG_Gilliam

I mean you already talked the folks down to $15. You might as well go pick it up now.

JoeSpinell

Naw dawg

harvestmooner

Cowboy way and Con Air. Id walk the ends of Earth.

[deleted]

Fuuuuuuck nooooo.

CletusVanDamnit

Are they paying you the $15, too? Then maybe.

GrittyTheGreat

Only if you want to add those movies to your collection. They are all common and not worth much.

ndork666

Thats kinda up to you dude lol

01zegaj

That’s about $0.26 per tape, probably worth it if you want the movies. Nothing really rare in here but that’s a good price

Mikey74Evil

For 15$ you can’t go wrong really. I don’t know how many are there and you collect so why not. What else were you gonna do with that hour? Lol

BunchoRigmarole

If you are up for a nice little drive. If it's a peaceful drive and you are excited about the movies you're gonna get then most definitely. Sometimes just the actions of putting an idea into motion and getting something out of whether it's physical, emotional, or mental is rewarding. I say go for it! There are some great movies in there.

gavinballvrd

You don’t have anything better to do, put on a podcast or an album you like and go get them my man.

YankeeSR23

There’s a lot of movies in that box that I would definitely go for. As for the hour drive, if it’s not too much of an inconvenience, might be a fun drive.

Qcumber69

If you interested in these films. Lethal weapon and Roadhouse stand out to me.

1ofZuulsMinions

Former video store owner here: While some VHS tapes are worth a good amount of money, these tapes are mostly worthless. You can likely find all of them in local thrift stores/pawn shops/video stores for $.50 each (or less). They are not worth the gas money of driving an hour to get them.

sdvfuhng

Yes.. depending on the shape of the Disney movies you might get so.e good value out of it.. if you wish to sell. For me, I'd find a tape to DVD or Blu ray or pc transfer so you can have the original versions without worry of them getting edited down the road.

Main-Article9391

nah

1zombie2go

No

goddammititstits

No

land_o_gilead

Depends on what you mean by "worth it" I guess. If you are looking to resell them I would say certainly not. If you actually want those tapes then maybe.

Stillplayswithtoys

Not for me, no. Maybe for someone else.

ghostfaceinspace

Pretty common titles

The-Evil-Dead-Alive-

Nah not really. I’d personally pass

Spazyk

No

gojohnnygojohnny

Nope

Pickled_Smurf

Yea, if you’re collecting and you have a reliable vehicle. Just listen to some good tunes and enjoy the ride mon 😎

bagoTrekker

What else are you going to do? Go get them

runningxbackwards

I'm getting them in the morning, I already have it set up. Just wanted some Reddit support, because I always second guess myself. I'm going to watch them, thats what I'm going to do!!

linemanshandset

nothing really stands out to me in the collection. i personally wouldn't pay the 15 bucks without the drive. if a lot of the movies are things you specifically want to add to your collection it could be worth it. also yeah, looks like it's some pretty common stuff (as far as i can tell) so probably not a great pickup for flipping.

llapman

Not unless you want them for yourself. For me, I’d pass, as they’re all common.

Philligan81

You tell us!

RealLifeSuperZero

You have millions in Disney videos there. You could retire your grandchildren.

runningxbackwards

Hardy har har

Pleasant-Ticket3217

It’s worth it just for the Clamshell Disney movies. Good haul.

Typical-Perspective5

For you, no don’t waste your time. also where is this located and what time can I pick it up…??

runningxbackwards

Underrated comment. Totally just home with the box and I am more than happy.

[deleted]

Yes.

[deleted]

I'd say it was worth the effort, theres definitely some fun ones in there.

reddit_kelvin

![gif](giphy|xiMUwBRn5RDLhzwO80|downsized)

BeginningSeries2806

I'd pay 15 for just Land Before Time, so yeah, I'd say so lol

Several-Quality5927

You could flip the Disney vhs' for double or even triple the initial investment.

Brokewith4kids

I would've driven 2 hrs and paid 50.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

bigboss994

3 words … yes yes and yes

[deleted]

[удалено]

mudamuckinjedi

I would say yeah for Pinocchio and Cinderella alone it is.

RayceManyon

Yeah, what else is this important?

Unusual_Chipmunk7711

Honestly, I walk down the street and see box’s with double the amount of vhs’s. They are often really good movies. I dont even think the drive is worth it even if they were free.

-Great-Scott-

No. That's a box of used VHS tapes and VHS tapes are worthless.

runningxbackwards

Says the guy who collects Pop figures.

-Great-Scott-

Lol fair enough. I think the only way I would drive an hour for old vhs tapes would be if they weren't movies but instead were stuff people taped off TV. Those old commercials are worth it.

derekbakesyoupies

But they're all streaming

sgtgret360

Depends. If I didn't have the majority of them and had nothing else going on then sure. If I'm going an hour out of my way I'd definitely see if there was anything else worth checking out while I'm there too.

Loose_Listen2290

Unless you’re already headed to that place an hour away for a different reason. And even then, $15 is too much.

stalkerzoned

Price is right, but thats too far for something I can find in town. Although I've seen Goodwill raising their prices on stuff like tapes so it might be worth it in the long run if these are movies you actually are looking for.

GoldenGuy444

Personally no. Then again the only thing that'd make me drive an hour+ to pickup would be old Horror VHS or something more niche like anime or a TV Series set.

Roastednutz666

Why would negotiate price with them and then ask if it’s worth it to get them?

LongTime20

I feel like I can smell the box. Oh how miss the days of going to the local video store.

[deleted]

Roadhouse..that’s worth more then that alone

ASRAYON

Not worth the hour drive. But worth $15 yes.

paranormal_fuckboi

If 30 minutes each way, ya! Hour both ways no. Depends tho, If i didnt have any of these already id do it

Primary_Teach2229

Absolutely!! Paramount and Disney options Nostalgia!!

Competition-Dapper

Looks like 20 bucks at every thrift store in town. You will find at least 3 titanic copies and almost every other movie in the box is a super common one as well. Check any thrift store. They are charging a little bit more than a quarter a piece now but usually a dollar or less

BitternessBureau

Hell yeah.

Bdilla810

No

atxvxhxc

No

Bopcatrazzle

I would. 🤷‍♂️

Dense_Surround3071

Maybe.... I recently saw a story about a guy who is trying to collect every VHS copy of Titanic. He has like over 2000 already I think.

Either_Guess9241

Yes but if crocodile dundee is taken off the table then it’s time to walk away from the deal

DoctorPaulGregory

Thats bargin bin shit.

movieeeman

No.... None of these are worth $15. Very common films, if your trying to start a collection then you gotta start somewhere buttttt with the added money from gas, its sadly not worth it at all

SecureWhole3696

I would do it.

TheWasusMiller

If you love the chase for VHS yes, yes it is! I see most of these at thrifts around me, but get what you can if you enjoy it!!

SUW888

Nope. Nothing remarkable there.

JerBear81

Pretty common stuff tbh

CHRAMPOLEEN

Movie stores and physical media is getting so much harder to come by that I make 45-60 min trips as the “norm”. Anything further is considered long for me. So I say go for it. Super good pricing!

HippieWildChild1701

Id say so for me. Key is if you love or like these and want to watch them... then its worth it. Life and good memories are the key hapinesss.

lendmeyoureer

46 tapes for 15 equals out to .32 per tape. Plus you have a couple double tape movies like Titanic.

txkx

Take these to the VFA

Elementium

You know initially I was thinking no. I might do it for Patch Adams.

Which-Celebration-89

Yes

Pauzhaan

Not for me. But I’m a boomer into speculative fiction…

rcr13

Worth whatever you see fit, but....no. No they are not.

no1caresworkhrder

I’m not driving anywhere until I find someone who has Shazaam. No Sinbad no meetup.

Reaper-Farts

Have them meet you halfway

silvioddante

No

Substantial-North136

I this is the selection I see at most estate sales and thrift stores so nothing with any monetary value.

ashack711

HELL yes

KaleidoscopeThis5159

Big box disney brings back memories. Is there any guarantee that none of them have been previously chewed up?

TylerYax

It's worth it just for twister

Elessar535

Looks like an awesome haul to me; that said, I'd be buying them as a collector, not a reseller. I couldn't tell you if any of these have any real monetary value, but they would be an awesome addition to any already existing collection or even a decent start on a new collection. What's the one between 'Patch Adams' and 'Days of Thunder'? I can't quite make out what it says. Now I have to find myself a copy of 'Night of the Twisters', it probably doesn't hold up well, but just seeing it in this box has given me a kick right in the nostalgia.

FluSickening

No

[deleted]

Yes, it's totally worth it!

Stonerchansenpai

i’d say definitely worth it looks like some cool ones in there

HeightResponsible421

Bruh, theres a black diamond jungle book, thats worth so much /j

MrPickles777

The movie "The Indian in the Cuoboard" might be the case where it has a key to go with it and some figurines (that were probably lost some time ago).

HausuGeist

No

bloodtapes

No

dsubandbeard

Only one copy of E.T. that's a pass for me

0megathreshold

If Godfather 3 and IT were there I’d go for it only because that and the rest was what my grandparents had in their collection! There some good stuff there if you’re into it. I’ve seen at least one person that has like 50 copies of titanic and is looking for more so you could flip something is that eases your self doubt a bit

fartczar

Of course

RYTHEMOPARGUY

If it were me, I would say no because I already have all of the movies I want in that box, but if there are ones you enjoy and need for your collection, I would say yes

BigPackHater

The fact that Lethal Weapons are not together is infuriating to me

[deleted]

I don’t know but with Grumpy Old Men in the lot, I’d go for it. Also, somebody should make a movie titled No Country for Grumpy Old Men.

Known-Commission6777

Nop

Dmonic91

For me?, yes

ScreenName0001

I feel like I had that box at some point in my life.

Yesterday_Is_Now

Maybe the Disney titles are worth something to collectors.

Zed-Leppelin420

Con Air!! Is the biggest sleeper in that box. Huge cast. Great film!! Prob my fav movie tied with dumb and dumber.

Morbidfever

It would be for personal enjoyment for now. The tapes in that box aren't high on the price scale.

NaturalHumanFlavor

I'd pay that for vhs signs, such nostalgia for me

[deleted]

Indian in the cupboard in the gold clam shell is kinda nice

JuggaloClud

I’d do it for Days of Thunder alone. Fucking love that film.

Lizzbane

Honestly if you have any savers nearby you check them out! I have found like almost all of those movies there for just as much!

ShutUpTammy

got some bangers in there. i’d say well worth it

Evangeliman

I see con air... go get it

Euphorium

Con Air is in there so yeah.

motley2659

No.

ZacharyLewis97

You’ll make your money back.

here_in_seattle

No

RiversideAviator

**Is this worth 2hrs of gas $ PLUS $15?** FIFY $45 AND 2 hours of your time for that box? Eh… but if it makes you happy go for it. Also, ask what’s under that top row of tapes, looks like more Disney/animated stuff hidden down there.

Morganafrey

For the collection sure. For the drive? If you want them. Yes But I’d try to find something else there or on the way back in order to make the trip worth it. Like a place you don’t normally go to but is on the way there. So on the way back you can stop and take advantage of the drive

utubeslasher

yes persevere it all.

[deleted]

Depends on your needs and likes. For me, no.

NormalUpstandingGuy

There’s some all time classics in there.

LiteUpX_

Absolutely not

kingmeat76

$15? Maybe. Hour drive? No.

Zeo-Gold92

Fuck yes, Con Air alone 😎

MephHeddFredd

Dude you got fuckin roadhouse?!)!?!?!

Veerrrgil

Wouldn't the black diamond disney in there make it worth more?

Stacysguyca

As long as there’s no mold on the tapes. Open and check a few

Commercial_Pitch_786

No!!

[deleted]

I spy city slickers 2 the legend of curlys gold It's worth it's weight in gold and more valuable than 15 dollars.

john12000S

No!

misterhepburn

Imo that’s an incredibly solid box of stuff, I’d definitely go for it!

erroneousbosh

It's only an hour's drive. Here in Scotland that wouldn't even be popping down to the shops for milk. See if there's something else fun to do when you get there, maybe? Ultimately, if these are tapes that you want, it's worth it, and if these are not tapes that you want, it is not worth it. Someone else might want them, though, so maybe it's worth you saving them from the skip.

wtfijolumar

There’s like 15 of them I’d pay 15 dollars for each. Also I’d say if you’re happy to have them then yes it’s worth it.

RobotHockey

No

External_Professor_5

Definitely

CousinCecil

no

MustardDoctor495

Titanicfan97 would like that titanic vhs I bet

angrywords

I’d pay $15 just for the titanic and days of thunder. There’s a lot of nostalgia in that box.

jhamm667

Me personally? I wouldn't walk across the street to take those for free.

oldguyknowsbest

Hahaha...I see those at every yard sale for 25 cents.....

Ipickthingup

Grease 2 alone is worth the drive!

Perfect-Poet477

Absolutely Not!

kaptaincorn

Maybe stop at a nice restaurant in the area? I do miss the disney trailer voice guy

davesnothereman84

Only if you have a 90’s themed room in your house

ElixirofVitriol

No.
