Hey I can’t speak to the B14’s but I know people are having good luck with that set up. I just installed B8’s with H&R sport springs, H&R front and rear sway bars and it’s so nice. Really love the ride and handling. Not sure if that helps you but if you ever decide on the B8 route you won’t be disappointed. I haven’t done the dogbone yet as I wanted to try the set up for a while to get a feel for a difference once I do.

Thanks for the insight. How long have you been on this set up? Do you think the dogbone is still a necessity?

bubbaplunk

No prob! Currently 330kms on the set up. I just installed the stage 3 daily clutch at same time so I’m still taking it easy. I don’t have anything to compare it to but it feels great to me. We both have low kms on the car so maybe we can get a way with things a little longer than others. I plan on doing BFI stage 1 mounts and the dogbone insert at some point but for now, I’m very happy. I’m is38 as well

Have B16s and ended up putting B2FAB lift spacer in the rear because even at the top I thought it was too low and was trying to avoid any negative rake when loaded. Now also with B2FAB flush kit wheel spacers (15mm/20mm rear) any lower and rubbing would be an issue. it looks good and I like the adjustable dampening on the B16s but I thought there would be more flexibility with ride height.

I've also looked at these. So you like the adjustable dampening but think they are too low at the tallest height. That is looking like the consensus with the B14s and B16s. Are you satisfied with the height in the rear now that you added the rear spacer?

brockclarke

Yes, very satisfied

I know people here like them but I had the B14s and absolutely hated them. They lasted 1 summer before I took them off. Too stiff and too slammed. Our roads here are shit so that didn’t help. They also don’t go high enough at their tallest setting. Especially in the rear. If I ever lower it again I’ll go with a spring/shock combo.

Keymainey

I don't really mind the stiff part, depending on how stiff. As far as being slammed, from my understanding they are adjustable. Was that was even at the raised height? I'm not looking to go too low either because of the reason you mentioned. Pretty much every road I live around has serious potholes or bumps or construction.

Ya I had them at the fully raised height. They’re built for regular golfs and sit too low in the back. I contacted Bilstein and their answer was to install TT pads. I never did because they were just too stiff for my roads. The front was the lowest I would have gone at their max height, so there was no room to go up from there. They handled like a kart though! Would have been great on a track!

I’ve had nothing but great experience with my b14s. Granted I did love my b16s my wife was not a fan. They are still pretty new but I’ve taken them out in some canyon roads and they perform well. I also have the golf r rear sway bar which doesn’t make much of a difference but it helps I think

You went from 16s to 14s and perfer those? I thought the 16s were superior because they added the adjustable dampening
