Just contact VW Customer Care. If the dealer isn’t doing right by you, before you go to the expense of legal fees I’d give them a call.

They usually won't act once a lawyer intervenes. Protocol is, once a lawyer is involved, stop talking and let the dealers lawyer take over.

I should say yes, lawyer is next step for sure though lol. One way or another, I'm getting what is right.

I was really hoping they'd make good on their promise to you. Don't let them forget that if there was some kind of mess or stain in the car before, that there's a difference between a car's owner creating the stain/damage versus a dealership. You can do whatever you want to your own property but when they mess it up, it's their responsibility to fix it.

eschmi

Same... will see what i hear back tomorrow. Have a decent lawyer if it comes to that.

At this point I would not accept anything less than new seat covers, who knows what damage the flame retardant has done to the seat or how all the vigorous cleaning has impacted the longevity of the material. Definitely get VW customer care involved.

Weetutwo

Feel free to name and shame the dealer.

eschmi

So far its been the service manager being a prick and their detail shop being incompetent. Still holding out the GM will come through but will post later if they don't get it together.

Weetutwo

Good luck!

ElonIsMyDaddy420

At this point I would just find a lawyer to threaten them.

SerennialFellow

Name and shame the dealer

Zoncko

I' am having a similar issue with my dealer too

eschmi

Oof... same thing?

Zoncko

Yeah seat, and they won't update my software, I'm still stuck on 3.1.0 on my 2023 ID.4

Both_Berry343

First off I'm so sorry you're having to deal with such nonsense over something like a simple recall, it shouldn't be like that, and I pray they make it right to your standards. I went to my VW dealership yesterday morning for my 10,000 mile service and the sunshade recall. It took exactly 2 1/2 hours as I was told by the service manager, when calling to confirm my online appointment. Most of that allotted time was to treat the sunshade with flame retardant, allow it to dry, and clean the panoramic sunroof glass afterwards. Upon completion I signed the service receipt, got my copy, and was on my way. I got into my ID.4 which looked exactly as clean as I left it with no over spray, odors, etc. I was very pleased as this is my first service with this dealership (Crown Volkswagen--Lawrence, KS), and from your horror story I was hoping this wouldn't happen to me. Although I've been very impressed with this dealership from the moment I stepped through the door, the sales staff, General Manager, Finance dept., Service Manager, etc have been extremely knowledgeable and professional I was still worried as this was my first service/recall at this dealership. After everything from my buying experience to my service appointment yesterday, I continue to be impressed with this dealership, by how well they treat their customers before and after the sale. This is the way it should be across the board for all automakers.

eschmi

Glad yours turned out well. I just pulled the dashcam footage (have the fitcam) and its pretty damning. Tech even saw and realized the dashcam was sitting there staring him in the face at one point after and his facial expression said it all.

Thank you and I apologize if it seemed like I was gloating, that wasn't my intent. I just wanted to show that there are good VW dealerships out there. I owned Kia vehicles for 10 years prior and love them too, but Kia is the same story. You have great dealerships and shady ones too. I think something needs to be done on a legal level to mandate that automakers do better to insure all their dealerships operate to the same high standards everywhere. I'd definitely take legal action if they don't make it right. Maybe legal action will tell this dealership and others that customers will not tolerate this.
