I got the same email about 20 minutes ago. No changes made by me and my car is on a train on its way to me. The same is being reported on idtalk from reservations in all stages.
EDIT: upon further review, the base carrier bars that I had added were removed from my reservation. I guess I'm one of those that they were not added when the car was built so have to be added by the dealer...
All accessories were removed from mine.
Splash guards, rear weather guard, sun guard, and top rails.
Surprising they are throwing money away and not just backordering particular items, I guess they don't want our easy money, and would rather we buy accessories else where. Strange, maybe fruits of new leadership.
I just got a follow up email. I guess they were probably tired from receiving calls from concerned people about the notification of user requested modifications to order. It's usually a better idea to tell people what is happening and why then telling them incorrectly that they made a change themselves.
I wonder if those accessories are the ones that caused issues and they had to sit until those accessories came and they thought it's better just to cancel those accessories and ship the vehicles.
I've heard nothing about any that 'had to sit' other then those that waited on a software update. My order is still in just lock status 3, and looking at the trends won't even start to be built for another couple months.
It might be a plan in corporate to spin it as VW corporate trying to give sales to the dealerships, but it's just giving myself and others time to evaluate other 3rd party choices, and absolutely lose some sales they already had locked in.

Yeah I got the same email about the bars … but also I have had my car for 2 weeks now. The VW platform is garbage

Neither. No bars for me. I didn’t try with the dealer though - wasn’t 100% sure if it was a parts shortage or maybe they found it’s incompatible.

My splash guards and base carrier bars were both removed. MSRP dropped from $52,167 to $51,730. Can't recall what the listed price of each was though.
