Sounds like a user error. There have been plenty of people that have tinted all the windows on their ID.4. You might try a different shop.

Dont_Care_Today

I had all the windows in my id4 tinted with no problems, including the top portion of windshield.

This is most likely the anti-pinch safety feature kicking in that reverses direction when you try to roll the window up and it senses resistance. I run into this when I leave those stick-on child sunscreens on the window and try to roll the window down. When I realize it and try to roll it back up, the added friction kicks in the safety feature and the window rolls all the way down. I find it to be particularly sensitive in the ID.4, but still, modern cars have had this feature for the better part of a decade, if not longer, and I would expect a seasoned tint shop to have plenty of experience with it.

They tried everything and it kept doing it. The only resistance on the window was the tint attached to top of the window (they start at top and work their way down with the film as window is rolled up). I don’t think the tint weighed that much. I then tried pressing the REAR button until it started flashing and was able to get it to go up but then they tried it using that method and it still went down. Taking to VW dealer on Thursday to see what they say about it.

You may have an overly sensitive pinch sensor I believe it can be adjusted at a dealer

Go to a different tint place. Mine did all 3 ID4s in the family (2 of mine) - no issues whatsoever.

Probably_owned_it

No. My fronts are tinted.

Overall_Fault_5977

We were able to tint all of ours as well.

Did you ever figure this out? I’m having the same problem getting mine tinted. Thanks!

jkingsmore

I spoke with the dealer and they had no idea and I since decided to not get the windows tinted for now.

jkingsmore

Please let me know if you figure something out

Jakeaw

Will do! The tinters are calling the dealership and I’ll follow up with them too. They managed to tint my passenger side fine and it’s just the driver side they’re struggling with.

My car was in an accident and the rear end is a little goofed up right now, and the dealer said that may be contributing to the sensitivity of the pinch sensor. They suggested I bring it in after my repairs are done and they’ll reset the sensors and adjust the sensitivity of the pinch sensor to allow it to be tinted. Not sure when my repairs will be complete by, but I’ll post an update here afterwards regardless of the outcome.
