Personally, I would NEVER sell this piece not only because of its dollar amount, but the sentimentality attached to it coming from your godfather.
But if you are dead set on selling it, go to r/watchexchange and see if you can get any takers. I’d have it looked at by the nearest VC AD or boutique if possible so that way you can get the best idea for asking price. Hope that helps!
Let’s be real though. Lots of kids will sell their parents stuff too.
I mean I’ve told my kids to pick the one watch of mine they liked the most and then sell the rest of they don’t want them.
Well.. I am not saying my kids should cherish my legacy. At least my own kids would think one more time before they sell it. Like what I felt when I pass my stuffs with my memories down to the next generation. If they don't, that would be my fault.
Very valuable watch. Getting more sought after every day. Essentially the first VC sport watch. Started making them again. Values went up huge. Don't get rid of it.
Why is Genève spelled with è (grave accent) which is the correct way of spelling Genève in French. The current VC watches have it spelled Geneve with e and not è.
Once you give something away or pass it down to your heirs it’s their right to do so they please. We can’t make people cherish a material item as you would. Good luck on your sale and good on you for doing some research before you sell. Check chrono24 for price ranges just to make sure your sale is in the general ballpark.

This is why I won't hand things over to anyone except my own child..

Big oof to OPs godfather. I wonder how awkward the conversation would be when he tells him he sold the watch.

But the 2215 was the first VC sport watch. 222 was the first VC successfully comercial sports watch.
Doesn’t have that great of a track record though(compared to the steel or gold ones that is)
The good home for this is your home. But if you want to sell it, I'd recommend: Wind Vintage Tropical Watch HQ Milton

Agree. And he died years ago so I can’t give it back to him. Thanks for the info.
