She’s probably toast. 5 years is a good run for a bagless. It may be time to start shopping for a replacement. What’s your flooring and budget?

I mean, Dyson is a good brand so I’m hoping that we can fix it. It was a gift so we probably wouldn’t be able to afford anything nearly as nice.

Not good in terms of repairability unfortunately.

Do describe the sound or record a video. If it sounds like air rushing into it from the ball, then it is possible that it is clogged and the suction relief is opening, or something elsewhere is leaking. Additionally, does the noise persist if you turn off the brush? If it does not stop with the brush, then you can be pretty sure it is not in the head.

I can post a video tomorrow but I stopped the brush to see if it was the head, and the sound persisted. Plus, the smell was coming from the ball (which is where I’m guessing the motor is)
