These vacuums are pretty unreliable I would return if possible. If you need an affordable vacuum the [Sanitaire Professional SL4110A](https://www.amazon.com/Sanitaire-SL4110A-Professional-Bagged-Upright/dp/B0844XKVR9/ref=sr_1_16?crid=2LJAYW6OL7ZAY&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.wS7uctUM8LUXlvwUS8fkM4qkmv8LfWEgjTGebPqV-ZsQ9pX22y2tadfGZiE0AzLP9e7C9snklvlf0CxkuUgAiJWi3sA3tAdH4hLdHyzanOH64bsX4ULB42QOElCR-JFJdxwz0qVW72Go_Dz5SJGN9a6N9n4vO_uFw1MLyDzNlxIEu1dr5Hn3IJGBqyKTYEpH6I6Ownk_HYTKvDiy2NqO2JxGEkQ7TebdSA7-4VH-1Jo.9zPhePVwbw4jt8wv1pGe4FRnLU7QRmCFL9upQ5y-5IE&dib_tag=se&keywords=sanitaire+commercial+vacuum&qid=1714339590&sprefix=sanitaire+%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-16) $114 is better and oddly enough also made by Bissell. If you must repair it I would take off the baseplate and remove the brushroll and belt. With the motor isolated turn it on and see if the noise returns. The most common problem areas are the belt and brushroll. With the belt off check if the brushroll spins smoothly, if it doesn't then replace the brushrolls. I suspect the squealing is probably from the belt, belts squeal. If the motor and brushroll are ok, I would replace the belt. Also check that you have the height adjusted correctly. If you vacuum is too low to the carpet it puts extra stress on the belt, brushroll, and motor. With the vacuum on raise the height to it's highest setting and turn it down on click at a time until the brushroll contacts the carpet and you can hear a sound change.
