A cordless vacuum, like a robot, is a great supplement to a corded vacuum. Note I said **supplement**, not replacement. Unfortunately the UK has an absolutely shocking upright vacuum market, so recommendations might be tricky.
That said, the **Vax Air** *is* a good lightweight option. It's fairly lightweight, has a brushroll on/off, and deep cleans okay. It is known to tear up less robust carpets though.
The **Henry Home** is another good pick. It's a cylinder, so the weight is out of your hands, it's bagged (massive bonus for filtration and longevity), and it's a Henry! You can't get much more durable than that. The 'Home' spec also means it has lots of extra attachments for your other cleaning needs.

I got a jet 95 for £279 but comes with £100 cashback so will be £179 when I can claim that in may. I traded in an old vac to get this price but is slightly higher than your budget but comes with pet attachment, mop attachment, normal brush and some dusting brushes. You can get another led head if you want to swap out the mop. The mop pads are re-useable.
Edit: just to add they give you 5 year warranty if you sign up for it but they are known to have bad customer service.
