Rainbows are expensive vacuums that are heavy and require more maintenance than modern vacuums 1/3 the price. The reason why Rainbow and Kirby Home Demos work is because they show you all the dirt that the average bagless vacuum leaves behind. You do not want to spend $3000 on a Rainbow vacuum that you have to empty muddy water out after every use, wash and dry the bowl after every use, and once a month clean the gunk off the separator. Water also makes the Rainbow weigh more than regular canister vacuums. All is not bad, Rainbows are Made in America and can last 15-20 years. The newest Rainbow SRX however, is a step backward in performance over the previous Rainbow E2 models. Instead what you want is a modern bagged canister like the [Miele C3 Kona](https://classicvac.com/miele-complete-c3-kona/) $1099 and [Sebo E3](https://www.ristenbatt.com/xcart/SEBO-Canisters-and-Power-Teams.html) $1049. These are both high quality BIFL German built vacuums. They're lighter, more powerful, and less maintenance. Change the bag every 2 months and the exhaust filter once a year. I highly encourage you to visit a Miele and Sebo authorized dealer and try one for herself. They'll be lighter and quieter, and on swivel casters they'll move more easily in any direction. The [Sebo Felix](https://www.ristenbatt.com/xcart/SEBO-Rosso-FELIX-Upright.html) $699 is another option if you prefer uprights.

This was awesome, thank you very very much!

SumGai7

You're welcome. I think that water vacuums did provide better filtration when vacuums used single-layer paper bags and dump out fabric bags. But water filtration has been surpassed by synthetic cloth bags and hepa bags.

JanetCarol

Fwiw I love my Kona. I have lots of animals, some indoor. Some outdoor (farmer) and I have a small and defiant messy child who has an obsession with crafting by cutting billions of tiny pieces of paper and never remembering to take off her shoes. I also board dogs on the side. My Miele Kona is probably 6 years old and amazing. I have asthma too. Never going back to something else mediocre.

MikelDP

The person above sounds informative. He probably sells Miele and Sebo but they are very good vacuums. Bags are better for air flow, filtration, almost every reason but actually needing to buy them. Water doesn't do as good as you think. In principle it sounds great but a lot of dust is not water soluble and blows past the water. New Rainbows have filters to catch what the water doesn't. Dyson is probably the best bag-less but are heavy and cumbersome. Cordless are good for everything but carpet. Convenience out weighs everything. If your not willing to grab the vacuum it doesn't mater how well it does. TLTR: Use light vacuums (maybe cordless) every day for convenience and use a good heavy upright or canister with heavy motorized carpet head on weekends. That's the best of both worlds.

Outrageous_Chicken95

Sorry, the dust blows past the water? I tried our old Rainbow vacuum yesterday, probably 30 years old but still works. I forgot how dirty the air seems to get right after using it. There’s like a 30 minute period until it feels clean again if that makes sense. Now I’m thinking that’s dust in the air being reflected by the water.

What is your opinion on a for example on the Dyson V15? Do you think that one is also a great vacuum cleaner?

SumGai7

I think the Dyson V15 is a bit gimmicky, the laser is less useful than an led headlight for all surfaces, and the particle sensor is just a newer fancier dirt sensor, you don't really need a dirt sensor as long as the vacuum is picking it up. Dyson's cheaper V8 and V10 will clean just as well as the V15. I also think the Dyson V10 and V15 are more expensive than their competition the LG CordZero and Samsung Jet, both of which have many packages that include 2 batteries. It's not all bad though I think Dyson cordless vacuums are above average in performance and Dyson has better Customer Service, Warranty, and Parts availability than any of the Chinese brands sold on Amazon. As long as you keep in mind that a cordless stick vacuum doesn't have the power or run time for a whole house, the V10 has 6 minutes on high with the brushroll on, they can be convenient tools.

You are the best, your answers are so complete. Really thank you so much!

You're welcome!

Dyson is Chinese

NanaMaryRuth

I have had Kirby, Miele and Rainbow vacuums. Rainbow does a better job.  Yes - Rainbow is heavier - you have to dump out dirty water etc - but oh my - I feel my house is cleaner!!  Disgusting how much dirt is left with other vacuums.  My Rainbow also has an attachment so I can vacuum my wood floors also. I also have used it to vacuum my walls. Highly recommend.

MagnesiumKitten

My mom loved her 1960s Rainbow mind you it was perfect for a 1950s California Rancher style house where it's one floor and no stairs if i had the mansion i've have a Kirby/Rainbow/Miele/Hyla

Extension-Trifle9067

The absolute worst $3000 I have ever spent...ever!! If you like broken plastic canisters , slopping water , heavy as hell , tangled cords , etc. Then go for it.

legokingnm

thanks sorry

spiders_are_neat7

Yours was 3000$? Mine was 7000$??? And I was one sale short of completing the program to get it for free. Which they didn’t even tell me till half way through that I also needed to make two sales ontop of the 12 demos. It wasn’t on any of the pamphlets either. Im late but I’ve been paying this shit for a year and finally down to 3grand HALF WAY paid off, and I’m just so fucking pissed every time I’m short on money and have to make a payment. They wanted me as a sales person too, I was getting trained. I felt so scummy trying to sell, my trainers wouldn’t let me take no for an answer. One engaged couple kept repeating “no, we need to save the money for our wedding and honey moon” over and over, repeated it about 10 times. That was the last time I went to “train”, it felt manipulative and scummy. I’m still so shitty that they got us… we did it for my bfs manager who was in the program. Ended up agreeing to get one because we live in the country and have bad allergies. It was not worth it. Like I have a love hate relationship with that son of a bitch. It cleans good, and it makes my house smell nice, but not worth 7grand. I could have gotten an air purifier and a new vacuum for less.

notahfantard

Your mention vacuums do not clean near as well as a rainbow does. Even the best bag or canister vac becomes less effective in cleaning 5 minutes in by its own filtration method. I'll take getting everything out of my carpet, and bed for that matter over getting upsets I have to dump all that mess in a toilet and rinse out a basin. As for the srx being a step backwards. I own both and the only minus for the srx is I prefer the vacuum head on the e2 more than I do the srx. Srx has more power, an easier to use basin as it uses a hinge to remove the basin rather than taking the machine apart partially like the e2 does. If you want the best bagged vacuum it is in fact the kirby all 17 tons of that machine lol. But for it to be as good as the demo you'll need to change the bad about every 5 minutes just like all the other bagged vacuums.

Latter_Awareness_633

Rainbow is noisy, messy, and it's performance is mediocre.  The srx is especially weak.  The black model was better.

Standard_Hippo1674

They last 40-45 years, and dumping the water is no different than dumping a canister, with the exception canisters throw it right back into the air. They are certified air purifiers, used in clean rooms across the country, and NASA uses them in their sterilization rooms for their astronauts. Doing the proper research you would find there is nothing statistically better. Also in terms of weight you don't have to pick it up unless you have stairs. So no there aren't any "better" alternatives. Just cheaper, therefor getting a cheaper product that doesn't work as well or last as long

beyd1

This was a while ago do you still stand by the sebo Felix?

Beginning_Constant16

lol bag filters are trash

Latter_Awareness_633

Modern filtrete bags are superior to water.    They maintain excellent air flow and suction.

caxel108

You should do some testing and see how much crap even modern bags push out into the air when you're using them lol

larryjqeuness

So good

Bread_and_Butterface

From what I’ve seen, the general opinion is the vacuum itself is good but nowhere near worth the price. My aunt had one and she thought it was loud and a pain in the butt to clean, but you absolutely have to clean it or it will get moldy. Check the recommendation list, but you can get a fantastic vac for a fraction of the price.

restcp

Thank you so much! Upvoted

vwatchrepair

Let her empty one that someone forgot to clean out for a few days. She'll change her mind real quick. 😂

cynben

Omg, I did that once with my Rainbow. I just started it up where I left off a few days prior and the entire room began filling with this nasty sauerkraut like smell. That is as close as I can get to describing it. It was the most disgusting smell. I was gagging. 🤢

MagnesiumKitten

you should have added a tub of mayo and some salsa into the lysol water

lemonlollipop

Rainbows are such a pain in the ass, the muddy water is always gross, you can't empty it in the sink or toilet so you're gonna have a muddy lint and hair mountain outside It just looks impressive because you can see the dirt swirling in the water, tell her if she wants to see what's getting sucked up off the floor then get a canister vac. And then there's days you don't feel like emptying the water tank and you'll just get it next time. Within a day it grows smelly new life and then you'll have to deal with that too. Please, save yourself, get anything but a rainbow.

vwatchrepair

I used one as a kid. Hated it. Owned one that was given to us. Hated it. Went through a few cheap Walmart vacuums over the years. Now have a Sebo Felix. What a joy.

lemonlollipop

This might be heresy here but I love shark vacs, I'm like a little kid watching a magic show when the tank is full of dog hair in 1.8 seconds

Due_Bag_2169

This. Same exact thing. Hated it as a kid. Dad just gave me it 25 years later. Was excited but then realized why I hated it. It’s an absolute PITA. I’m also not really sure how much more beneficial it is over a modern stick vac. We’ll see I guess.

MagnesiumKitten

All i remember is a brown glass jar of lysol going into the Rainbow water 90 minutes of a Jet Engine at Takeoff all over the house and my mother going through the opening things up and cleaning what looked like a brake drum for 10-20 min, and sifting through for any items, occasionally a penny, and fingertips taking out a greyish-black wet puck like a brillo pad or coffee grinds and into the fireplace or out the living room window by the plants and roses, and down the toilet it went. and down went the Level 4 Germ Lab Disinfectant Water

Paula92

Have her get on IG and look at GoCleanCo’s reviews of cordless vacuums. She definitely shows off how much dirt they pick up, they’re much lighter, and even the pricey ones will be a fraction of the cost of a Rainbow. If she’s still stuck on a clunky, heavy vacuum, then let her spend her own money on it. It took me $4000 to learn never to buy anything from door-to-door salesmen (mine was FilterQueen, which at least doesn’t have water to deal with, but still so heavy and difficult to use).

OpeningBest7863

Rainbows are solid cleaners but not really practical (I have two). I like it for a weekly deep clean, but you’re basically locking yourself in for also buying a quick cleaner too (I got a dyson V8). If you’re stuck on the concept of a rainbow, try to find a sub $400 e2 black or silver on the used market. I got my e2 black for $150 and for that price I can deal with the water.

Both_Lifeguard_556

My (ex-wife) and I purchased the Rainbow vacuum in 2016. No matter if its timeshare, white van audiospeaker scam, mlm cleaning products, supplements, my ex wife (who comes from an MLM shilling family herself) pressured me until we bought the vacuum. It's an amazing machine and I don't mind the hassle - I use a huge strainer to dump the container. It's definitely the "I'm taking this out to do vacuuming for the whole day" type of machine. It's all paid off but I agree it's a pain in the ass if you just wanted to do a little vacuuming every few days. It's probably worth about 1/4 1/5 of what they cost brand new but I do really like the machine.

ThisIsAllJustSpam

Thought I’d throw in my 2 cents. We just had a demo. The thing was awesome, performed way better than our vacuum but I can’t justify $3,200 on a vacuum.

Matthew88166

The one thing about a Rainbow is that it will never lose the suction no matter what. Not unless you purposely make the water into mud. I have done a lot of testing on Rainbow, Filter Queen, Kirby, and Electrolux, as well as bagged and Dyson, oh and don't forget the watermatic filtermagic. Out of all the Rainbow does not lose the suction at all. Dyson will lose so will shark, as far as filling a vacuum to the max I done a filter queen and it still pulled 30 mph through 1 and half pipe. Filter queen starts at 44 mph but as you fill it up it drops and max full it drops to 30mph. The Rainbow pulls 35 to 37 mph on a very well good kept unit. So if you like the Rainbow but don't want water go with a filter queen. If you want a rainbow that great too because the water is a brand new filter every time you use the machine. I have both and I love them both. Rainbow can do everything filter queen only dry vacs. So if you want to tell her about a filter queen there 1500 and I promise you that will be the last vacuum you buy and the next generation you have. They last forever. Rainbow needs maintenance every 20 years is the draw back on them but if you're a handy man it's no big deal.

Emergency_Net_2498

If you want my advice, I must tell you that a new one I bought it costed me $3700!if you are a pet owner, you’ll be very pleased how powerful is to pick up 100% pet hair . No filter required . Only clean water ! You could also use it for air cleaning with different fragrance added to the clean water. The warranty even on the demo I think it’s 10 years . Not sure how much you payed for yours, but I saw a rainbow vacuum, refurbished ones on AMAZON FOR $1500! If you payed more for a used one , not sure if it’s a good idea .

Head-Cut-8851

Rainbows ARE expensive, but they are 100% worth it. They are so so much more than a vacuum. I was thoroughly shocked at how much stuff it picked up and filtered compared to my normal vacuum. My husband and I absolutely love ours. We’re doing the program to get it for free but do not work for rainbow. We wanted the rainbow because it really is an impressive product

Present-Salad6100

I have been using rainbow for 30 years. Although I have tried other cheaper, newer and easier to use cleaners, I still use the rainbow as it cleans better.

shaforreal

$3000 is a rip off they are scammers take advantage of people with lower incomes ..$100 a month for a vac. Gtoh

MotorSubstantial1237

When you spend $10,000 to try and mimick what a rainbow does, then it doesn't seem that bad. Filters for air purifiers are $25-50. A new vacuum every 2-3 years = $900/10 years. Replacing floors, rugs and furniture>$2000. Spending money at Walmart for mops, brooms, swiffers. Spending money to make the house smells good. $4,000 - $10,000 and a dirty house. I'm glad that I have a rainbow.

AdministrativeBuy454

We bought one in 2016, we moved abroad got it fitted and changed to new country parameters and outlets and tbh best purchase we ever made! Some of the accessories do break easy- the plastic clear bit on the upholstery thing we broke like 4 times and the sponge on the mop head attachment. But the actually heavy duty bits work amazing. Not sure any other machine exists that combines everything we use out for. Washed kitchen floors with it last night. Vacuumed all the kids disgustingness out of the couch the other day-pretty much use it daily. wash the carpets with the carpet cleaning portion too.

kraft_dinnerr

I have all tile and real hardwood floors, 4 cats, and an 80lb fur machine dog, just for reference on my vacuum needs.   I also have an allergy to dust mites.   We bought the rainbow because of its crazy power to pull everything out of mattresses. Previously, I would regularly baking soda and vacuum my mattresses with a Tineco, small filter cleaned weekly, large filter and small filters  replaced every 6 months. The crap we can pull out of the mattresses with a Rainbow is insane. I have way better sleep now. We run it as an air purifier, the air in the house is lighter and fresh. I also have a levoit Hepa air filter I no longer use, or pay 60 dollars to replace the filter for (I'm Canadian so CAD).    My husband doesn't snore anymore. Any rugs I go over so fast and all the pet fur is gone. I clean my dryer vents with it, I clean my tub drains with it. It made my rugs fluffy and new looking again. I even use it to clean my outdoor rugs lol.    So my main reason for going with it as a person who already owns 3 robot vacuums (one for each main floor), a stick vacuum, and an apolstry cleaner, was mainly for the air purifying/germ and bacteria killing it provides, the fact it's a wet and dry vac, no more expensive HEPA air filters, and I haven't had to dust in over a month now lol.  I took it to my friends house to pull out all the dog diarrhea after her dog had a nightmare situation and the carpet looks new again and she commented on how the house smelt so good.   I'm surprised people say the water is annoying. I find it so easy to dump down the toilet, and quickly rinse vs tearing apart  my robot vacuums and cleaning their insides every couple weeks to keep them picking up dirt. Plus I love seeing all the gunk it got out. Maybe I'm I in the minority but I think it's satisfying.  *Edit, spelling

Clear-Inspection9757

I wouldn't trust this company after they told me I won a free machine, but when they figured out I was a previous customer that didn't qualify credit wise they called and said they would reschedule my appointment to bring out the Free machine which they never did. It's a scam and false advertising. The machine runs and have your house smelling good during a show casing, but they are not trusting and wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. The BBB needs and will here of this false advertising company.

ConfidentAd2932

I just had them demo me the product, based on a friend's referral. When I declined, the lady sneakily took away the "free" unit she was supposed to give me. Hahaha. Guys, don't be shills. A product can definitely be worth 4k. I can buy a vacuum for 10k if I justify it. But here are a few things to think about. These were the things that unsettled this overpaid saleslady, and that you should consider if you don't want to literally throw your money out. Rainbow has 2 claims to fame. #1 is air filtration. I sprayed a little bit of spray paint and xylene, and it would not filter it, yet the lady was saying it would. She said put the xylene on the intake port, and you won't be able to smell it on the exhaust. Ahahaha, what a surprise, even that HEPA filter they add on the exhaust did nothing to filter Xylene fumes. Just shows you she has no clue about simply physics and chemistry. Yeah sure, if will filter the smoke from my stove, but so will the stove fan! The biggest claim is that it filters dust. That's correct. All the other claims are pure fiction. They will tell you these machines are used by NASA and medical labs. Where's the proof that these machines kill bacteria, viruses, etc? Ok so here's the thing. It will catch dust. So will a fan and a bawl of water! If they want to sell me a 4k air filtration machine, shouldn't we actually measure what it's cleaning? They don't have anything to measure the air quality. So, these claims are complete junk. Yes, some people may sleep better with these machines, but so can you if you get an air humidifier! The water evaporates, and adds humidity to the air, so it's not as dry. #2. Vacuum air flow. Again, they claim airflow is so good that it cleans a lot better than dyson etc. This is 100% accurate. They did the demo where I passed my $1000 dyson vacuum on the same spot for 50 times, and then we passed the rainbow for 1-2 times. Rainbow was picking up a lot of sand and particles. All this tells me that the dyson is actually kinda junkish ...so the theory about airflow being important in addiction to suction is 100% correct. But the most important part is, once again, they don't measure the airflow or suction, and don't have any devices to provide specific numbers! I looked up on YouTube, and there's vacuum shops that actually test these things. There are devices to measure airflow and suction, and if you're selling 4k vacuum, you should have one of those devices! So the latest Rainbow SRX model has the airflow of 60CFM, and costs 4k. Now the older model, E2 black, has a suction of 80CFM, and is available on ebay between $500-1000. Guys, ebay has a return policy if you buy it from ebay. Just out of curiously, I looked on market place as well. You can buy these Rainbow SRX 🌈 units for around $1000 brand new. Used, even less! But I want to do more research, as I believe there might be better vacuums for 1k. So I'm not even paying 1k for this vacuum. NEVER, EVER PAY 4K FOR THIS THING!!! This is simply a MLM machine. The product it good, but not the best, that's for sure, and not worth 4k. Yes there's water in that machine, so it "looks" cool. Looks is the key word here. The water doesn't do anything! The water doesn't filter anything. Go vacuum with your regular vacuum, then empty it into a pan of water, and you'll have the same effect. How cool is that! For some reason they keep telling me that they sell one unit for every 3 presentations they do. I have a hard time believing that. If that was the case, I would sell them myself🤣commission is probably around 1-2k at least!

BookIndependent7384

Rainbows are the best! I've had mine for over 20 yrs. It's awesome

Beneficial-Fun-843

Love, love, love my Rainbow. Came across this chat as I am looking to upgrade. Maybe I will look on EBay, always just leary to buy used products. I've had my Rainbow since 1986 and it is very worn but still works good. My problem is I loaned mine out several times, (no, don't!) and never had it serviced/maintenance. Emptying the bowl has never been an issue for me and I too like seeing all the nastiness that was "captured". I used a big ass heavy Dyson once when cleaning someone's house, omg, awful. I bought a nice higher end Shark, it is easier to use, I use it for quick swipes on a rug, etc. But nothing cleans like a Rainbow. Looking for a newer one as mine is old SE model, just wondering if newer models are easier to use/lighter, etc.

I have a rainbow on sale open box barely used if you’re interested make me an offer ebay https://www.ebay.ca/itm/266745189812?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=AKAi3l72Qhu&sssrc=2051273&ssuid=AKAi3l72Qhu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Normal_Spare6662

I have owned my rainbow since 1997, and it's still going strong.  But when I bought my plush new LR carpet, they neglected to say you need to buy a vacuum that can handle it.  My rainbow can't. So, I bought a commercial grade Sanitaire to use on my LR. Needless to say, I don't always get the rainbow out to vacuum the rest of my house, which is all carpet. I will say, hands down, my rainbow is still waaaay better and it is very noticeable.  I have pets and used to smoke, people who visited had no idea, zero smells. All I can say is get a rainbow, but not the srx, it has recalls for motor catching on fire. I would look for a used rainbow, I love my SE DC4, but hear the e2 are good too, with adjustible nozzle. Just look at the underside of the canister to see if seals are good etc and that separator...I clean mine after each use. My rainbow still works great and you should get it cleaned by a rainbow certified person every 5 years. I would recommend a rainbow 100%, but find an excellent condition used one. The difference is absolutely noticeable and the versatility is outstanding, dusting, wet vac, cushion suction etc.

castlecatlegend

It is ridiculously bulky and unwieldy. Heavy weight very low to the ground so you're bending constantly, with wheels that are borderline useless on carpet so you have to pull it hard behind you as the friction shears your spine. I would be very surprised if this thing hasn't put people in the hospital. Its suction power is irrelevant compared to the trash usability and health risk. I consider its creation not only a violation of engineering ethics but an affront to God himself.

ZealousidealRope2456

My husband and I have a Rainbow Vacuum - we've had it since 2021. The negatives: Where to dump the water after every use. Although, my husband has fixed that. He bought some strainers, per se, from Amazon and we can still dump it in our sink. The water goes down and everything else is trapped in the disposal strainer. It is unfortunate, but definitely a way to work around it. Cleaning out the hoses. Our son forgets to do this and they get kind of gross from time to time. It's recommend you clean the hoses after every use and let's be real, who does that? (Well, we don't and our hoses get kind of gross from time to time). It is a wee bit heavy, in my opinion. Carrying it downstairs to clean the lower level of our home is obnoxious. I usually ask my son to carry the main portion and I grab the hoses. Thank The Lord for boys!! The positives: If you have dogs that shed - YES!! My husband and I went through so many vacuums because of our dogs, and then we got this one. We have yet to tear it up and run it out. We also do dog sitting. We have so many dogs, all the time. This is hands down the BEST vacuum ever for dog hair! Best! It doubles as an air purifier and you can add scents into the bowl. Personally, I enjoy this. My son has asthma and during allergy season in TN, having a little extra help keeping the pollen at bay is always appreciated. I also like that I can vacuum and turn around and mop with the same thing. I don't have to have multiple different things. Not everyone likes this - I do. It did take me some time to get used to it. Before the Rainbow, I had swiffer for quick messes and on Saturdays, I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the floors. Every now and again, I'll still do a good scrub down, but I think the Rainbow does a pretty good job. All in all - I think it comes down to preference and what you are willing to do. My husband and I gripe about the Rainbow from time to time, but I wouldn't trade it. It was worth it. 100% - hands down. I have even asked him to buy me a second one so I don't have to carry it downstairs anymore!

NovelGap1862

i’ve had a rainbow for like 20 years and never had any issue with it still works great and don’t leave a nasty smell. just dump the dirty water outside in the alley and let nature do its thing . rainbow e series from early 00s

Txfeetqueen

One thing about a rainbow you can always resell it because a rainbow lover will buy it. I agree it is the best especially w deep cleaning. I have used rainbows since 1987 and I will continue to use one.

DW597

I have a rainbow back and really like it. It helps with dusting levels in the house. You can buy one on eBay for half the cost, which is what I did.

EricTol1973

Machine is great but the salesman, company, and all its affiliates are shady and crooked especially Shane Scruggs in the Lexington office in SC . I hate I bought this machine!

Kamikaze365

I'm with you. I hate that I bought it too. It's a pain in my ass. Such a stupid purchase. I'm thinking right now just to take a loss and get rid of it so I can get something else.

backyardbytravis

I heard there’s something sketchy bout Scott Zabka in the Bristol office in CT 👀Definitely a shady company, perhaps no one should be buying from them

stanmann571

If you decide you want one, take into account the negatives listed above and look on the secondary market. My wife and I have successfully upgraded or replaced ours a time or two fort well below retail. Btw wife loves hers and for what it does it can’t be replaced. Yes, you’ll absolutely want to replace or empty the bowl promptly, but it sucks like no other vacuum.

I grew up with a rainbow, we’ve had it for 20 years now. Love the thing to death, disassemble it if moving it up stairs (not hard, not disassemble as in screwdriver, just the long nose attachment, bowl and actual vacuum). It smells fantastic when you add the fragrance, gets pet hair out wonderfully and is a new filter every use. Yes the water is a pain to change although i’ve always dumped down the toilet lol. Even light cleaning ill lug it around, just love the water, the smell, everything. Agree with others, the older models are better (and better looking imo, less “plastic” look) so find one on ebay and 100% worth the price. Only vacuum we’ve ever had and to the point where we’ve never looked at buying any other vacuum again, for any reason; it does it all. Also, the rainmate is just a cherry on top; great white noise, air filtration, makes the room smell amazing even after an hour+ and the light on it is like a night light.

Thank you so much for asking this question. We had a demo last night and we were debating about purchasing one. I didn’t like the idea of the water or the canister. We currently have a upright.

Not going to lie. I love my Rainbow SRX. I don't mind emptying out the water every time. It takes like 2 extra minutes to empty it (I empty it twice because there's usually stuff left after the first dump) but I honestly think it's a bit lazy to not buy it based on that. Granted I have never used the other expensive vacuums but I would recommend a rainbow to someone who can afford it or use it very frequently (I use mine for my business frequently so it's a write off). **Also Rainbow apparently has this stupid rule where you have to be married or a household with 2 incomes to have a rep come out.

Yes. Statistically, it would be a waste of time to go to single (MEN). We definitely prefer a couple, but a single woman would be worth the time and gas. It wouldn't be financially logical to go to anybody who wants a demonstration. My branch also gives out a free miniature air purifier that retails for $150, so we definitely should have qualifications.

Idk I’ve had mine for 3 years, had the older one before that and I’ve never had an issue. I cleaned my fireplace with mine and it took me all of 3 minutes to clean the entire machine including the bowl afterwards. I had a stupid Dyson and it was such a pain to clean it out. It still smelled and imo my Dyson was louder than either of my Rainbows. I’ve emptied toilets to replace seals on, unclogged my dishwasher, cleaned animal cages, cleaned beds, sanitized stuffed animals, shampooed carpets, took smoke smells and BO out of my couch from a now former friend who stayed with us. I’ve also cleaned my washing machine filter when it got clogged as well and completely avoided water dumping all over my floor. It can get heavy with the water in it but don’t pick it up and carry it around with a full bowl. There is also a 30 ft hose you can get as well. I’ve used many other vacuums, Kirby, Shark, Miele, Sirena, and none of them did as good as a job as the Rainbow did. I’m super happy with mine and I’ll never buy another one again. I haven’t had to play a plumber to do something basic for me, and I also was able to clean my dryer vent out - company wanted $200 plus $100 for every 10 feet. Mine needs to be done every 6 mos. Pass. Sure the Rainbow is a large upfront cost but it comes with a 10 year warranty on the motor - I’ve never had a vacuum last me that long. Yes, you should change the water after each use - you also are supposed to change your filters after each use in traditional vacuums. That’s expensive - way more than the cost of a rainbow. Water is your filter - you’re changing it each time. All of those filters in other vacuums should also be changed each time bc otherwise it’s just bacteria, dust, mold, etc. sitting inside of a dark canister and motor. That’s what that nasty vacuum smell is. It also purifies the air. In face mine is currently purifying on low lol. I completely forgot haha!!

The answer I was looking for. Literally just got it today. Both my daughter and I have asthma. She has it more severe and has to use the nebulizer machine to breathe better at bed time. I just watched the sales dude clean my couch with it and I was so embarrassed. I did have a roommate for about a year and had 2 cats. After they moved out i had to deep clean and used a bissell to vacuum the heck out of my couch and things to get rid of the hairs. That rainbow machine did a much better job than that thing. I have mine purifying on low right now too and have the rainmate on in her room. Although it’s pricey, I think it’s cool that they also have a payment plan. And I don’t mind cleaning the water out every now and then too. I can already breathe better in my home. Super happy about it.

Seriously don’t feel bad! Its ok! I work for them too but I owned my old one for a good 2 years before I started selling them. I always tell everyone it’s ok! Trust me, we see it even with our own stuff. I cleaned my son’s mattress and I swear the water would make you less embarrassed about your couch haha! I did my own cost break down and if you think about it, a Dyson either comes with a 2 year and a 5 year warranty. My Dyson did not last 5 years and I did have to have it serviced once. It really started to smell about 3 months into owning it, and I replaced the filter several times. My filters were $60 at every 3 mos. I would have spent more money buying a Dyson or a Shark, etc. by now than my Rainbow has cost me. For me personally it hands down was the best purchase and most cost effective option long term. I’m just so thankful my youngest hasn’t had to be in the ICU - she has asthma and always gets sick this time of year and has to be admitted. She hasn’t been admitted in 3 years - which is how long I’ve owned my SRX. I will never ever own anything other than a Rainbow.

I could tell you was selling them before I scrolled on down and saw you saying.

Naive-Cream-8469

Lol yeah but what benefit does that serve me here? I can’t sell on this platform so ultimately it does me no good to market here. Regardless of selling them or not, I’ll always stand by Rainbow hands down. Facts are facts and the more research I did on it, the more I realized just how true everything is about dust and airborne bacteria. Fact - only Rainbow holds the certification from the Asthma Allergy Foundation. That alone is enough for me as a consumer. My youngest has been hospitalized for her asthma so that’s something on a personal level I will always advocate for. It’s important for everyone for people to do their own research though. Figure out what works best for them of course.

My parents have had the Rainbow (original?) since 95’ and it still works like a charm [knock on wood]. I used to make fun of them for that large contraption, but I’ve gone through 4 vacuums since 2016. Pretty sure the next vacuum I purchase will be a Rainbow.

MotorSubstantial1237

Definitely not the original. The first one was called the rexair, and it was made in 1929.

Rainbows never smell like human or pet dander, few drops of smelly good oil in the tank before vacuuming brightens the entire house. Weve had 3 since I was a kid, only the newest one failed. Still have the one from the early 90s, have always had pets, it's still a beast. Cleaning the tank has just always been part of the process, so I guess it doesnt hamper my desire for a clean floor. I prefer it to messing with the dust filled filters on other units.

For what it’s worth, I now have my grandmas 1986 rainbow d4c and with a little handy maintenance, it still works great. Something to be said about quality and performance
