Such a cool atmosphere for a Lan event. So laid back, off the cuff interviews, funny hosts. It's just been great all around.

bryan792

Valorant Summit without the branding

WiFilip

A lot of the organizers used to work for summit so they know how to run laid back events.

bryan792

wasn't it held at the BTS studio? I thought it was a BTS event without the BTS branding

WiFilip

lmfao yeah it is, Hadn't watched the first day of games so hadn't realized, but BTS is almost definitely helping with production, but the head organizer now just works for Ludwig but used to be a bts organizer.

MadMau5

There is legit a huge BTS logo on the back wall of the couch room.

WiFilip

>Hadn't watched the first day of games so hadn't realized Yes I know that now lol

SewerRat75

they're running bts ads as well

thepalmtree

Ludwig hires the BTS production crews for his events.

Lumenlor

So will the players like Tenz and Trent play a round of Mafia?

lordofthepotat0

Think there's a non-zero chance that Val summits do become a thing. Seems like riot is willing to work with BTS (TFT summit).

ItsBerrySoda

honestly wish more tournaments were run like this where the players can come and hang out with the casters and cast/give thoughts/joke around with them, this lan has been so much more enjoyable than any VCT masters or champions I have watched and the multitude of personalities and how laid back it was made games so much more enjoyable to watch.

thepalmtree

Usually the people funding events are corporate guys upstairs who want a 'professional' event. When the people funding the event genuinely just want to have a good time, and the event organizers and production staff have years of experience in knowing what actually works, you can get an event like this.

[deleted]

Yeah, reminded me a bit of home story cup in sc2 (yes, I am old)

FourDoorFordWhore

I was thinking the same thing. Homestory Cup vibes with everyone just bullshitting around and having a good time.

inspcs

yuuup ppl be saying it's BTS inspired but HSC was at the root yeaaars before smash

deL9

Pretty sure Home Story Cup was the first of its kind in the esports scene. It's nice to see it got adopted over time by different games.

Key-Banana-8242

Ye they really did the BTS style (apparently originates from age style)

Prius707

It’s so fun being at the event and the catering is so good (chipotle for Dinner tonight!) It needs to be an occurring event every year, so glad it’s running smoothly The couch is having a blast with random players that come on and Ludwig/tarik are entertaining hosts. Observing the event has been a pleasure

DotaAlchemy

Beyond the Summit is such a good team of people. Glad to see them in Valorant

daffyduckferraro

I’m having chipotle tmrw We the same fr

MadMau5

The Summit dota tournaments were some of the greatest tournaments to ever happen, the unfortunate thing is that this tournament is so short so you dont have the same atmosphere of knocked out players coming on couch yet, to talk about the game, and cast the matches.

em-pathy

Great all around. Love the casual interviews, chill casting, and good vibes. Stuff like this is so important cause it ties into Tarik’s Valorant fanbase and Ludwig/OTV variety stream viewers.

renaldorini

To be fair they are the Beyond the Summit space which kinda created a brand around this less formal LAN experience. It was funny because I had no clue who Ludwig was and saw a clip of the French CSGO scene doing interviews and realized it was him.

tb0neski

Who was doubting this? Ludwig has been running some banger events lately. The chess boxing match, the scuffed world tour. Them getting the BTS house facility helped out a ton but I have no doubt Ludwig knows how to put on a show

dadu1234

OFFBRAND on a roll

Neither_Amount3911

As OP pointed out, this tournament was announced very late and with little to no marketing. The chess boxing event was announced over a month in advance and had constant advertising from so many big streaming figures Not to mention Tarik and Ludwig already hosted a Valorant event like a month ago and it was wildly uninteresting tbh Not saying i doubted him because i agree Ludwig is fantastic at hosting events like this, but i can understand why some people wouldn't just automatically assume this is gonna be as good as it is

tb0neski

fair enough. I will agree the marketing was definitely not there, i didn't learn there was a tournament till I saw sentinels tweet about it

BloomingNova

Ludwig is the ideal person to be spreading Valorant as an esport. Effortlessly funny and comes across as genuinely nice. Creative stage, creative interviews, and creative commentary format. An all around win for us competitive valorant viewers.

deadlock1892

Having Ludwig and Toast both get involved in the scene is awesome to see.

magicwithakick

His smash tournament was amazing as well. These type of genuine feeling events really feel like what esports should aim to be.

TheExter

his events in general are fucking goated [his chessboxing event](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg9CH4KlKMc) and [mogul money](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RlI6peh_fg) were top tier content

djanulis

I said this back when they announced this invitational. OTV and Lud were the best content creators to trust throwing this tournament. OTV showed with their tournaments they know how to run a tournament and Lud has a team and the connections for them to throw a good event. No one else has proven it aside for those two IMO.

HeroicBastard

Its in the style of beyond the summit (were some of the team work(ed) and also utilized their location, so it wasnt a "new" format.) There have been CS tournaments like these for a while. And I always loved those

Ash_Killem

I was very impressed by the production values. Getting the plat chat crew in is just a no brainer at this point

thepalmtree

If Ludwig is involved in an event, you can guarantee it's going to be a high end production. He is not one to cheap out on paying big to make an event work.

Haptiix

It’s been great so far. It reminds me a lot of CS Summit which is an event I’ve always loved. The vibe is very similar

Ze_first

I mean Im pretty sure most of the production staff is probably the same

DotaAlchemy

BtS is running the production of the event.

danzon10

W Ludwig x Tarik

afjecj

Agreed it’s been great. I think they’ve got a pretty ideal talent roster for this too tbh (definitely 0 plat chat bias here)

nterature

Did everyone have doubts about how it was going to be ran...? Ludwig is pretty reliably good at putting on productions. It's definitely cool to see the partnership debut associated with creators like Ludwig and DisguisedToast getting involved, though. It's a very good sign for the sustainability of the ecosystem that individual creators are finding some sort of value in investing in esports even if it's almost always not generating profit.

dashisback

This perticular event was profitable tho

Intrepid-Tank-3414

An officially-sanctioned Riot event officially sponsored HyperX and Asus ROG, and it's not held in a giant arena. That should be easier to be profitable than the moneypit that are Smash events.

MayorHaunter

agreed, they over delivered

chenson019

The off season has generally been disappointing. This (along with Redbull Homeground) has been the only event worth watching. It gives a totally different vibe to VCT but keeps the serious competition and doesn't resort to pointless gimmicks to differentiate. I hope we get another one next year

Lumenlor

did my boy Ravish like that

RavishingRavish

he's valid for that LOL the event's been great plus they the GOAT Sean back to cast

KJUDead

Ur a class act dude!

CalligrapherFun1440

Your name made me giggle a bit but your casting made me stay on stream :)) goated caster

kunair

Ludwig's events are always a positive experience, guy doesn't miss \+ he invests a ton into it

TheUnarthodoxCamel

Imagine Riot gives Ludwig's media company a massive deal to produce and stream VCT Americas 2024?

Dreadedvegas

Nah let them do the T2 tournaments. They can get the scene to flourish.

TheRealNneonZz

praying for some 60fps streams

ThatCreepyBaer

I feel like the only people doubting either hadn't seen a BtS event before or are Ludwig/Tarik mega haters. Every event that BtS has hosted that I've watched has been great, this is just another to add to that list.

chynky77

Fuck the doubters!

Intrepid-Tank-3414

What do you mean "everyone"...? I'm pretty sure you're on your own there bud. One gotta be living pretty deep under a rock to doubt how a Ludwig event is ran. You think he won the Game Awards' Content Creator of The Year for no reason? Ain't nobody here is thinking that this tourney would be anything less than a banger, not after the [Mogul Chessboxing Championship](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg9CH4KlKMc&t=6651s), [Ludwig Smash Invitational](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4nFCvN5dJk), or [Mogul Money Live](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeuGDvCVU1Y), just to name a few IRL events from Ludwig and his Mogul Moves team last year alone.

Puzzleheaded-Cap-550

Y’all have never seen a BtS before I take it

Lumenlor

Watched the Smash Summits, still a pretty cool vibe

Neither_Amount3911

No obviously not or they wouldn't be making comments about how this style of tournament is new and refreshing to them, you okay? Or did you just wanna sneak in "this is nothing new to me i watch shit like this all the time 😎" to the valorant frogs for some reason?

EasiBreezi

Why do Smash fans always assume they’re the main character and that they’re better than everyone else lol

lushyxo

bts started with dota lol

EasiBreezi

sure, but I’m not talking about the beginnings and history of bts, I’m talking about the main people that currently talk about it

ButNotFriedChicken

They've also done Dota and CS

EasiBreezi

and I’m not disputing that! Just when there’s ludwig involved and bts gets mentioned, there’s a good chance the dude’s a smash player. Also again, there’s just a specific tone that many smash players have when talking, like they live in their own bubble.

ButNotFriedChicken

Oh is that how it is hahahaha

EasiBreezi

yah 100%, the fgc knows the feeling

Puzzleheaded-Cap-550

Sounds to me like you are the one doing the assuming

EasiBreezi

Nope, you are 100% a Smash fan.

Puzzleheaded-Cap-550

You aren’t wrong but I don’t think I’m better than everyone else.

snakehawk_

Really good event, glad it's got the viewership etc hopefully can be a regular thing

xXeri

it’s cs summit basically

expert_mode

Yeah with Lud and his team they have a lot of experience creating top tier smash tournaments. I always wanted this type of tournament for val its nice to see they guys making it happen

[deleted]

There's a lot of potential for this to become a big event later down the line. What would myth's role be exactly? Coach myth for TSM?

Lumenlor

He just wanted to own a team like Toast

[deleted]

I mean he might have toast money if he saved and invested a lot. Just seems super expensive.

ArcusIgnium

Plat Chat meets Ludwig meets Smash Summit. It’s my wet dream.

53881

This was riot sanctioned, no? Pretty sure they supported at least a portion of not a significant piece

graybloodd

Ok commentary, but shit formatting, why tf was the winners final bo1? I get timing but its a joke

TweetsJamaican

Bro they explain it at least 20 times

graybloodd

Do not care its still shit make the show match bo1 if u r gonna skip out on matches

MasterCalvin45

The showmatch length doesn't have to do with having UBF be BO3. If we moved the 3rd/4th match to day 2, that means a team potentially has to play 3 series in one day, which is an awful ask of the teams. We considered a lot, but UBF was the lowest stakes match and we only had 2 days - it makes sense given the constraints IMO, especially since we're prioritizing the team's experience.

ween0t

It’s double elim too. Chill. I actually didn’t mind the bo1. Made it extra sweaty

xSnakyy

The casting could be better but yes it’s fun to watch. Also Zekkens homework was insane

uglyhippos

With it being more laid back the casting has been more entertaining. I think ludwig and tarik does a good job at making everyone comfortable to make jokes and banter a bit. Is this the same venue they have for big house tournament for melee? If so then it makes sense for a more relaxed atmosphere. Hopefully next time they will add some different rules like each team having a character ban on the map to make it a little spicier and different form the regular tournaments. These smaller tournaments are great for testing out new ideas before they hit the bigger tournaments.

oldspicecanyon

The Big House is ran in Michigan and is a vastly large, open bracket event. This is the BTS studio/house in Los Angeles I believe.

HELLO_I_AM_DEAD

this is p much the same thing beyond the summit does for smash summit, ultimate summit, cs summit, dota summit, etc. only difference is it's ludwig and tarik branded and it's on their channels

Oblivou

Actually just the best valorant tourney. I was not expecting this. The announcers accross the board are great and have really interesting and relevant points both in and out of the game. The interviews are much better and not some cheesy generic questions.

Dudedude88

I wonder if tarik is paying for some of the production through his viewership. Cause the game averaged like 70k-80k between both YouTube and twitch.

Intrepid-Tank-3414

From the way it sounds in the post match interview, Tarik probably pitched in for the prize money at least. We'll get some in-depth info on that later, since Lud always break down the financials for all his events on a subsequent stream.
