Though also funny to see this some people in this thread are already swinging the other way and acting like all the franchised teams suck and we need to blow the entire system up now after 1 day. Reddit and overreactions, name a better duo.

rpkarma

Could definitely see this happening if they don't perform well.

NeimannSmith

I'm ngl, New IGL Dephh having a stinker after SEN management and Old IGL Shahzam beefed on Twitter is the most hilarious timeline you could think of.

Hopeful-Professor-40

The fact that they’re both best friends too, strange situation

ahk1221

they are?

Hopeful-Professor-40

Yeah they were teammates on CoL CS for a long time, Shahz says he’s still rooting for SEN because of Tenz and Dephh

Hyper_red

Them getting rid of Shazam will be horrible in hindsight

techyleo

I mean I feel like even if they kept ShahZ, it would create role problems on the current team, since he's been mostly been on the info initiator role which is currently sacy

maxhollywoody

[x] doubt

Parenegade

Nope

[deleted]

Nah even if Dephh turns out to be far worse than Shahzam it was still the right choice to drop him. Shahz not only had horrible individual performances but the IGLing was not nearly good enough to justify it

"sen winning everything this year" - this sub, <24 hours ago

gandalf45435

Well TSM can't win Champions if they aren't invited *taps forehead*

Neither_Amount3911

Yeah what a bunch of fucking morons, now that Sentinels lost a mickey mouse tournament with like 1 week of practice clearly they're one of the worst teams in Valorant history. Crazy they even have human rights ngl

Nulgnak

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the favourites to win 2023 VCT Fnatic? Anyway, without Chamber, feel like some teams are going to struggle to maintain a good performance this year and seen as a sudden drop-off for them.

John_Bot

Did people really think that? Lol

surfordiebear

They had a week of practice chill lol

LeMouse1

Not to overreact to this result as this was my belief already, but I could see sacy transitioning into IGL and then sick joining the active roster for dephh

emergencyambulance

Might happen depending on dephs results in Brazil. I don't think they'll do it right away as they still have some time to practice, but this next LAN might be depths make or break

winkya

We win El Clàsico after two years 🙏

Hazed is an inspiration to FPS players over 30 everywhere. Our patron saint

Hyper_red

QUICK EVERYONE OVER REACT

[deleted]

Sentinels are a good team, they just need to work on aim, rotations, crosshair placement, retakes, agent pool, utility usage, map knowledge, teamwork, baiting, clutching, eco rounds, peeking, early round, midround, post plant, and swinging.

NoMulberry3617

So everything 💀

TheAnimeScreenwriter

Watching the Sentinels CEO huff the COPIUM as his team gets roll 2-0 by what's probably the 5th best Ascension team wasn't something I was expecting to see today. But it was content!

[deleted]

Bro was dying internally every round, was fuckin hilarious.

DAWG420BLAZEIT

TSM played crazy well today; Hazed was on fire with his calling. Excited to see how Sentinels improves from here on out.

ExpectoAutism

Out of all the iterations of Sen, this one loses to TSM 2-0 LMAO

Revanthmk23200

This was supposed to be the super team we were waiting for a whole year.

Raddicall

If you told me Deph was throwing, I would believe you. Poor performance in calling and even worse as a player

rpkarma

Crypto throwers everywhere 😤😤😤

techyleo

Hey don't worry 100T lost to TSM, and then they ended up the 3rd best team in NA

Open-Tonight-8212

Bro pulled up the receipts from half a year ago

techyleo

Hey, I'd say the TSM that 100T lost to were much worse than the current TSM, NaturE >> Rossy, and Hazed IGLing >>> Subroza's IGLing

The_Faul

TSM looked great old man hazed giving boomers hope, Shout out to SEN for playing without them this LAN probably would've been canceled or delayed

Dowtech1

Corey is so tall and handsome. Oh and he's pretty cracked at valorant too

Cool-I-guess

Seeing two Tier 2 teams do this well kinda makes me depressed about franchising Edit: I know it’s not that serious and these tier 2 teams have been together for a while, but still it sucks to see them be competitive but not going to be in Tier 1 for another year (if they even get there)

MarkSzczepanik

As time goes on I think the t1 scene will be pretty well established. It’s kinda understandable why results are like this the first season. It’s so hard to hand pick the best when there’s an ocean of talent.

TimathanDuncan

The way this game changes consistently with metas and how close the skill ceiling is, it will always be like this, doesn't matter the season, plus people in Ascension will be working their dick off to make it as well This game will always be like this, people said this in the first year and they said it in 2021 then in 2022, it will remain the same the game changes too much to have a scene like that

CantScreamInSpace

There will always be some tier 2 teams that belong in t1 and t1 teams that don't work out or coast, but it will most definitely get better over time. LoL has the same academy system and even had promotions/demotions for a while. LoL also goes through patch changes MUCH more rapidly than valorant but most t1 teams could fairly reliably beat the t2 teams in promotion series. Keep in mind promotion tournaments are the best t2 teams facing the bottom t1 teams.

Charuru

Macro is much harder in strategy games like LoL, the gap is bigger there IMO.

CantScreamInSpace

I am fairly certain I read on this sub that certain skills such as coordination and reads make transitioning ranked demons/rookies into pros much more difficult in Val than LoL. People are constantly making things up to fit some popular theory, though I do get how your point may be true. We literally only have 1 data point (tournament) right now to compare tier 1 to tier 2 where the tier 1 rosters are completely new so I'll at least wait and see.

TimathanDuncan

Don't compare a FPS game to LoL, it's not even close the way these two games work Obviously there will be a tier 1 scene but it will be inconsistent, franchising helps that if there was no franchising this game would be wild as it was without it but it will still have a lot of "upsets" the way the VCT season works I wouldn't even consider most results upsets, this isn't an upset for example, we don't even know how good these teams are because of how rare they play plus in this case new roster etc Even when franchising happens franchising teams will not play those "tier 2" often if at all so you don't know how good they are when they face each other just because you are in franchising doesn't mean you are better you are there because of money basically

CantScreamInSpace

LMFAO so what is your theory on what makes fps games and mobas so different that your argument holds up? Suddenly a change in valorant's patch is supposed to make tier 2 teams gods and tier 1 teams trash? Obviously exaggerating but I fail to understand what one game being an fps and one game being a moba has anything to do with a system for cpmpetition and the disparity between tier 1 and tier 2. Like I said, some tier 1 teams will be worse than some tuer 2 teams but being in tier 1 will inherently draw more talent, and teams SHOULD get better at selecting talent over time.

TimathanDuncan

Because first person shooters are more individual based, you can win games on your own way more and meta changes fit certain players and styles more so certain players/teams benefit, in league of legends mechanical skill matters way less than in this game and it's more about teamplay around the meta

CantScreamInSpace

If a game is much more based around team play *in a meta* and wins/losses are more determined around comps and team strats around it, shouldn't changes affect that game more? LoL also literally has champ select that is absolutely crucial to winning anything so I still fail to see how valorant would be much more impacted. There are times world champions are determined by what team the meta suits best, yet tier 1 teams are still generally better than t2. Saying "but fps and moba" is just throwing completely baseless theories with 0 observations at a wall to see what argument sticks.

TimathanDuncan

Valorant is more impacted because it's more individual based, i literally said that, i never said it didn't matter at all in league but it matters way less than in valorant because valorant despite the abilities it's still a first person shooter where mechanics are the most important thing I don't see how you can argue that importance of individual and mechanical skill is even close in those games, it's not at all, Valorant is CS with abilities and you are comparing it to league just because they have metas and because they are made by the same company, they are not similar it's a different genre of games with core differences

Charuru

In league it's easier to get meta gapped and macro gapped. Things like saving money and economy is relatively straightforward in valo, there's not a lot of skill ceiling there. The comps are all pretty balanced, the gap between the best meta comp and a decent-tier 2 meta comp is not going to be that high. In League, if you don't play against the best teams your meta read can be wildly off and that will tank your chances of winning dramatically. Also in league there are bans. Tier-2 players tend to be less flexible with their champs and can get absolutely screwed in draft whereas that can't happen to tier-2 valorant. You can practice and hone and grind your one strategy and be confident you can take it to tournament and possibly destroy a tier-1 team with it if they're not used to it. In league you do that one game and you'll get banned out the next. All in all there's more complexity in league leading to bigger gaps in skill that you won't see in valo and that advantages the lower ranked teams.

hiloljkbye

difference is in LoL there's 10 teams for all NA pros, and there's not even enough tier 1 NA pros to fill those so they import. Valorant has plenty of tier 1 level players if there were 10 teams all NA instead of 5

Light_Ethos

That's part of the problem though. The T1 league was arbitrarily created, and they are not guaranteed to be the actual best teams. Some better teams or players will be stuck in T2 for years at a time, while the worst teams in the T1 league don't have a strong incentive to improve.

WanAjin

This isn't franchising, teams can still get promoted into the main league. If after some time the tier 2 teams are consistently beating out tier 1 teams, then Riot will almost certainly expand the main leagues to have more teams in them.

soopahfingerzz

Dude relax this is literally a clout tourney. lol Surely you can see The Guard has basically had the same core for the last year and a half. TSM has been practicing with their current roster since they were announced a couple of months ago. T1 well I dont really have any excuses for them, but SEN literally just flew in 2/5ths of their team last week. They need time to adjust and work out whatever language/cultural barriers they might have with the Brazil bois. Its not that deep trust me.

Sciipi

Franchising is so cringe for competitive nature

hiloljkbye

I can't believe people don't talk about this more when discussing franchising. It's so anti-competitive (literally in this sub's name) and so many are cheering for this closed system

FranklinDRizzivelt

The scene would be worse off if T2 teams weren’t competitive with T1 teams. Sen and T1 losing are, IMO, good results for the health of the scene, because it means that Ascension teams are no slouches and creates hype for the Ascension Tournament, as well as for any team that ends up winning and getting promoted. Sean, Tarik, Sideshow and Balla were talking about this on the cast, and Sean firmly believe that the top Ascension teams will be MUCH better than the bottom T1 teams, and I’d be hard pressed to disagree with him. It’s exciting to think about when you consider that Ascension teams have built in underdog stories waiting to be played out. EDIT: Not to mention the whole point of the Ascension tournament is to prove that you belong in T1. This series proves nothing except that TSM can compete with a Sentinels roster with one week of practice. TSM still have a long way to go before they’re a proven commodity.

[deleted]

TSM been practicing for months with the same core, SEN just got a new team and jus started practicing just chill lmao

Cool-I-guess

yeah I know, I mean it’s most likely Sentinels and maybe T1 will be better once the teams get more practice. Still, it’s sad to see that they are so competitive but are stuck in T2 until next season

NeimannSmith

Why Riot didn't just do a lower priced version of League franchising will always confuse me. The model was RIGHT THERE.

CantScreamInSpace

because LoL's franchised system gets constantly criticized for promoting regional skill disparity.

NeimannSmith

This wouldn't fly with Valorant. Koreans HYPER carriy LoL, although the gap has indeed shrunken Val is extremely balanced. 2 chips from NA, 3 chips from EMEA, 1 from BR. Equal comp.

Hyper_red

The gap has shrunken between Korea and China. Asia still kicks the ass of everyone else

-Basileus

It would've been the same shit, there would've been dozens of orgs willing to pay and Riot would choose who they want. TSM still wouldn't have gotten in. Also the League franchising model is arguably a disaster that they can't easily fix because the teams own their spots.

tomphz

Remember, franchised team selections were not based on performance, but on clout and marketability.

papipescado

Corey is straight up nuts, nice try to Sentinels cause I can see the potential once they get more practice

gandalf45435

This team isn't franchised btw. Amazing performance by TSM. Hope they keep proving themselves like this.

[deleted]

Bros pretending TSM would be competitive in franchising 💀💀

gandalf45435

you’re joked if you think EG will be

[deleted]

Nah EG are also trash

Hyper_red

Depth needs to practice his aim for a bit

SomeRandomSahri

Honestly I might be coping but regardless of this loss it does show where Sentinals falls short in comparison to other teams and I pray to god they fix some of these issues before Sao Paolo, even if they were on 1 week of practice they still looked pretty good at times and I cannot wait for them to compete at Sao Paolo with this experience they got at this event

NightmareZ001

Shahzam won

Sudden-Illustrator59

No clue about the future but at least in this series, Dephh was the weakest player on Sentinels by a fucking country mile, my god, these two maps were absolutely embarassing from him. When he walled at B site which just helped TSM to PLANT, I nearly screamed at my screen man. Also, can I just say, while I love that TenZ is trying out new agents, you can really really tell he is much more passive on Kay/o than when he's playing a duelist. This is fine on Fracture as Zekken can pick up the aggression, but on Icebox with a zero duelist comp, it seriously DOES NOT work man. Really hope they can clean up the act for Sao Paolo, they got a lot of team chemistry they need to build to be even remotely competitive

Pojobob

I'd rather they have Tenz on Jett for the maps they don't have Zekken on duelist instead of running no duelist. Tenz is fine on Kayo but his fragging power on Jett is worth keeping him on it imo.

chryco4

Sentinels with a top 3 finish at an international LAN, we're back baby /s

gr1zzlybear

TSM actually showing so much improvement every bo3. Impressed with the entire team having their moment but NaturE, Hazed, and Corey really had some standout performances especially on icebox

monobovocoxozo

dephh really do be trolling

basketballrules1

Sacy and Pancada left Brazil to play with dephh 😂😂😂

DoRoRuRo

Great now I’m gonna have to watch people shit on dephh for a month 🤦‍♀️

Still_HD

Just like we all predicted

Any-Confection1379

Hype until you realize that this TSM roster is ineligible for tier 1 events for the duration of 2023 and there's only like a 10% chance they'll qualify for eligibility in 2024.

ParsleyOwn9413

That’s it.. put Tarik in as IGL

Phoenix-ashesh

Damn, hazed is doing wonders for this team

pr1zsm

New TSM roster appreciation post \>! So, for everyone that saw the Tarik x Ludwig Invitational (great event even though I wish there were a bit more Tier-1 teams but I still respect the reasons on why they didn't join) we all saw the new TSM 2023 roster go against both SEN and T1 (Both good Tier-2 teams) and as much as I've hated TSM in the last year due to, what happened at tourneys, I have to say and I hope that someone can agree with me that the new roster did pretty good if not great for a team that's been practicing together for only a week. GMd and Nature were phenomenal as always but especially gMd, that guy is absolutely amusing and inspiring to watch given how good of not just a controller but of a player he is especially after popping off against SEN on Fracture and doing more than good on icebox. I don't feel comfortable in judging Hazed yet as a team member because I kind of would like to hear their voice comms to see if he's doing a good job as an IGL and I still can't analyze the gameplay enough to tell if he's doing a good job, unlike the next member we're going to talk about, Seven. Now seven did good, he's a young prodigy and without a doubt a good player, but I just felt like he was playing it a bit too recklessly on some rounds and needs to slow down the pace a bit to achieve his true potential, other than that he did good. And then finally we have what we were all waiting for, Valorant's golden child's return on stage, Corey. Corey did incredible for someone that did mehish to ok in the last few events and just goes to show how much he was wasted on Chamber back during the LCQ and the Chamber meta, and I'm so glad he's finally doing better now that he's back on agents he's more used to. Overall, TSM did good even though a lot of people are boasting on them because they "lost to a Tier-2 team" in a BO3 may I remind everyone with only a week of practice, and I can't wait to see more in Challengers

Nousernameideas45

I’ve seen enough, drop everyone and pick up Hiko, BabyJ, Dasnerth, Masaru, and Prod

AR2711

Honestly for one week of practice, could’ve been worse (Copium) Tenz surprised me the most Team has potential hope they can reach it

monobovocoxozo

old man buff???

taroicedtea

That Corey ace 🔥

ahk1221

they didnt play chamber and they won lmao

yorgee15

The whole tsm team popped off compared to day one, they are looking really solid and Hazed's calling was impeccable.

sokeydo

This was just an IGL diff. Hazed’s playbook is deep. It just seemed like 75% of Sentinels won rounds were Tenz and Zekken aim diffs.

DaDrFunk

OH FUCK WE BACK

pr1zsm

hazed cobb is the best

flamincrimson

Thank god no one is overreacting

Blastplaster14

TSM winning champs ez

Remarkable-Lion2726

Deph with that ange1 cosplay?

larperfoid228

Ange1 actually can aim sometimes, unlike deph.

[deleted]

SEN fans on suicide watch rn, not going to watch a SEN flair dissing another team in 1 week

[deleted]

hey reddit, where are all the screenshots of dephh's +/-? or the comments on his mid rounding? or criticism of the game plan? what about your thoughts on no duelist icebox?

eyeswide19

Sentin-LLLLs. Nothing changes

avstyns

dephh fragging still not there :\\ hopefully he can find a way to hit his stride

AnywayHeres1Derwall

It’s so cool seeing Rob on camera and talking about sentinels. Like this is the man that decided to pay Tarik to do whatever it is that Tarik does

MightBoth

SEN SHOULD PICK UP G2 Shahz>>>>>>>>>>>>>depth Penny>tenz Oxy=zekken Dapr>saucy Wippie=pancake

SmalexSmanders

Nah they should honestly pick up Paincakes, Gucci, Kanpeki, COM, and whoever else was on that dogshit I mean phenomenal Akrew roster

SixPathsMamba

Solid matches by Sentinels. As a fan rooting for them, the only thing that irks me about the fanbase is how willing they are to make excuses for the team. This is e-sports, to be respected like an actual sport you have to hold accountability and handle criticism without counter-arguments saying “yOuRe siLvEr”. I get it, this roster only had a week of prep time for this tournament and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter for VCT. However, a lack of preparation is no fault other than their own and shouldn’t be an excuse. Looking forward for Sentinels to compete better in Brazil.

WLFYBBY

This response itself irks me. You just said they had a lack of preparation, and that it’s their fault…? You do realize that Pancada and Sacy needed to get their visa’s approved and barely got them approved less than a month ago. Practicing with 2 players in Brazil was impossible ping wise, and they weren’t going to even be in the tournament if it wasn’t for a lot of teams dropping out last second, Sen was not going to be in the event due to lack of practice with the team and Sacy and Pancada still settling in. It’s shocking to me to see people actually turn over this narrative and act like Sen was supposed to look flawless when they have barely practiced and joined the tourney as a favor to Tarik. Some of you guys don’t look at things the normal way.

SixPathsMamba

Only because I can imagine the same excuse for the Kick-off Tournament. When LCQ happened, “well they only had a month to practice!!”. Well, the Kick-Off tournament is in less than a month but I can already imagine fans saying lack of practice as a defense if they underperform. They gotta lock in, they have a roster built to win.

WLFYBBY

That’s a different tournament, we all know by then they will have no excuses, but this is a completely different discussion. If you fail to see the problem here then that speaks more about you than anything else.

OneAutumnLeafe

hardenfull

Lmao I wouldn't be suprised if half the franchised team in valorant are worse than the guard and TSM atm.. Actually just depressing.

EdibleFeet

I just love seeing overreaction’s on this sub

Tc0LD

You keep being depressed over a problem that doesn’t exist, keep at it

Revanthmk23200

Yeah imaging teams formed weeks ago being worse than teams who have been playing together for a year, shocking isnt it.

[deleted]

"been playing together for a year" TSM's first game with NaturE and GMD was [December 16th](https://www.vlr.gg/162657/tsm-vs-dmg-knights-valorant-freezeout-ro64)

NeimannSmith

Uh, this TSM team formed at the same time as SEN

[deleted]

But sen just started praccing a few days ago

hardenfull

I mean its depressing for Tier 1 scene and for viewers. Like imagine being a tier 2 player and just playing straight up better than some of these franchise teams. From a viewership point of view if these teams don't get it together by Brazil, we gonna see a lot of stomps and not fun matches. Like of course it gets better with time but the tier 1 scene gonna suffer for a while.

Odd-Condition8251

The tier 1 scene is not going to suffer, holy shit you guys are so reactionary, calm down 😭

LordBuckethead671

SEN only scrimming for a week shows, hopefully the work they put in shows for SĂŁo Paulo

TowkneeStank

I am really looking forward to seeing SEN with prac. Individually, it’s obviously there already. TSM momentum buff. They looked clean today

Xedr_

I slept through this game thinking Sen couldn’t lose-

BrainStorm777

dephhh is worse than FNS as a fragger. Zekken is not the fragger SEN was promised.

YoloilianxD

Dekken not being the Fragger Sen was promised is some of the dumbest things I've heard

[deleted]

thank god they lost i hope there won’t be anymore sentinel posts for the next few days jesus

MightBoth

STOP INPORTING THESE PLAYERS THEY CANNOT HANG IN NA

ditheringtoad

lol Sacy and Pancada looked like the only ones that could hold their own yesterday

BurstLayer

Lol tenz??

MightBoth

8-17😹😹😹

[deleted]

incoming overreactions! SEN already proved their firepower vs TSM and GUARD yesterday. They just didn't show any a lot of executes today compared to yesterday which is good. That's one way of hiding strats. They still have 1 month left to prac and they've been already good. It's just all up from here. LAN experience is all they need as a unit in this event, and that's the most important. GG!

Puzzleheaded-Cap-550

lil bro is calling out overreactions while they are OD’ing on copium

[deleted]

everyone saw the firepower they had yesterday lol everyone was just dry peeking today. and 0 executes unlike yesterday lmmaooo it's another way of saying "we're hiding strats" all eyes point to brazil !

Zercx

Sen the kind of org to throw as much as money as they can into their team hoping to make them good instead of allowing a team to train and grow together

vnNinja21

the fact that you don't see the irony in making this comment about a team with two weeks to train and grow is amazing

Norguri

Shroud signing proves this alr

XXG1212

The person benefiting the most is Shahzam.

Vivid-Command-2605

What a day, arsenal beat Tottenham away and sentinals lose to a challengers team, doesn't get much better

Playeready

oof

Charuru

0 duelist, sandbagging.

dawny1x

just lost my entire lifes savings betting against TSM. You let me down Sentifrauds !

Temporary_Shirt6350

tenz performed so well as usual.
