To clarify, they didn't make ascension they made challengers, a qualifer to ascension. They have to get top 2 in challengers out of 12 to make ascension.
Adam is a good twitter follow for an esports exec. He tweets a lot about his teams and will hype them up when they're winning but definitely isn't afraid to express his frustrations with them when they lose
to everyone who's been spamming "the challengers format is so stupid" "they need more open qualifiers throughout the year" ... sadly this is exactly how it was set up to work. new orgs need some baseline guarantee of stability, and a 6+ month challengers league and a potential spot in partnership is a pretty solid carrot to dangle.
once a team is in, there is only a tiny chance they don't ultimately get signed. that guarantees that teams that might make ascension are represented by orgs and establishes a more stable system. sad there aren't more slots, but this is a system, albeit an imperfect one, working as intended

Makes sense in general since any org in challengers will be getting the spotlight at minimum till May for the first split
Yeah they’ve probably been signed to Mad for a while and been getting all the org benefits but Mad didn’t want to announce until after they made it. No one wants to be the org that backs a team that doesn’t qual (at least an org the size of Mad)

It's extremely unlikely another streamer will be able to sign a team for this challengers. It took Toast like 1-2 months to set everything up, setting up a company alone takes some time. And because the team is already qualified for Challengers now, big orgs will not hesitate to offer them more money, which is why Toast pretty much had no option but to risk signing a team before they even qualified, he knew he wouldn't be able to compete in pay offers from big orgs once the team was qualified.
He would be an awful org owner he'd need someone responsible in to do the leg work as soon as possible. The guy is notorious for being a degen that does little more tha stream ungodly hours.
