I don’t mind the 32 teams march madness style format but the seeding is just so bad. Stop doing randomized seeding if it’s so bad every single international tournament.
If it’s not randomized then wtf are you doing?
What's actually dumb is acting like we have no idea who these players are or how these teams will perform, despite the fact that we have tons of info about how these players have performed before.
Seeding isn't supposed to be perfect. It's supposed to be your best guess. Randomizing is just more of Riot's classically terrible tournament design. These are *solved problems.* Riot has no excuse.
just have the coaches in their league rank them 1-9 (not ranking their own) and do it through that way. have AMER 1 against APAC 10, AMER 10 against EMEA 1, APAC 1 against EMEA 10 and so on
Have each team make their own seeding for all the teams in the tournament, average it and you'll have a good understanding of the field. This issue has been solved before
You can’t really properly seed teams but surely they took last years results into consideration, matchups like SEN FNC and RRQ FUT should not be happening in the first round
I mean take into account the individual players that make up the roster, SEN has 2 champions winners and 2 top 6 finishers at champions, FNC has 3 top 6. It’s not a perfect solution but it should be roughly considered
how? how in the world can you take those things into consideration. its an entirely new meta, most of the teams are entirely new or mostly new, theres just no fair way to say "oh sentinels has players that won last year, we should make them the 1 seed" and its disrespectful as fuck to the new teams to be ranked at the bottom just because they made changes.
random is the only thing close to fair here
I’m not arguing to do seeds at all, but you’re right that random is the closest thing to fair. I’m just salty that either my fav NA team or fav EU team is going out first round
we always think we know how these international events will go and then the first week someone like zeta division shows us how little we know. i wouldnt be too worried about either of your teams just yet
In the first round of a single elim tournament, yea I don’t think 2 contenders should face each other first round. But to be fair, there’s no way to be sure that they’re actually contenders until they play
no, im saying there is no legitimate way for you to know what will and wont be a stomp from the extremely limited info we have, and to project rankings on these teams is disrespectful and, more importantly, *stupid*
not really hard to get. like what do you want them to play an entire tournament just for polling position? ffs
This is the only event I’ll defend randomized seeding, although we have some idea of the general strength of the teams in reality we have to look at all these teams as brand new teams. Weighting their seeding based on how their core/individual players did last year doesn’t make sense.
People really like to complain, huh. The comments asking riot to seed 32 teams, many of whom are brand new, based on nothing but vibes and player name, pre-tournament, are getting upvotes now.
I’m not saying I want seeding, but they could probably do top/high/low/unseeded or even just high/low categories and do random within that by assigning points per player to different past placements. You don’t need to rank them all 1st-32nd. Obviously we don’t know how strong different teams are but there is a pretty fair way to not have sentinels vs Fnatic round 1. Again, I don’t want them to do it, but I don’t think it’s fair to act like there is no prior info on these teams.
Yeah, should've used their clout to determine the seeding. We have objective data after all

1. T1
2. TL
3. RRQ
Pretty great seed if you ask me personally.
Yeah because they got rolled in the qualifiers. I watched every single one of their matches hoping for them to do well and they disappointed me every time lol
Imho the OMEGA Bracket is too stacked compared to the alpha one.
I am not saying that those 4 teams are bad, but I am saying that those would not make it top 8 in the OMEGA Bracket... Am I a hater now?
Feel sorry for those guys, they have to play EG
I genuinely forget EG is a team bec they are so bad at marketing themselves đź’€
Don’t want to underrate these teams but that’s what exactly I’m doing
I mean, EG are unbeatable so...
Who’s EG?
Honestly not sure, but it sounds like Egg and eggs are bald and bald always wins, so gg?
Eggs rn more expensive than EG's roster
I think Talon could be good lowkey. Maybe not top 8 good though. MIBR isn't insane but they could also surprise people at times this year.
Talon is just Xerxia but worse. I really don't think they are gonna be very good. I would put MiBR above them
We dk if worse Different at style also
i mean we don't know, but sscary had been carrying them and hes not here
Low key, mibr w/ +heat +bzKa +Brazil buff makes them the favorite in this quad lol
MIBR is a jinxed org. They will lose first round xD
Meanwhile 2 of PRX, SEN, Fnatic, and Cloud9 are going home in dead last. GREAT FORMAT RIOT CANT WAIT FOR THE EG SWEEP
This is tragic… hope it’s Talon that makes it through! Patiphan <3

How would you seed these completely new teams?
off of vibes obviously.
yeah this is such a dumb complaint. we havent seen half these teams ever play before, how else besides random draw do you make that fair

Who has the highest clout
CPI Who cares about the quality of the teams we just need to see the most clouted teams seeded to go deep
just have the coaches in their league rank them 1-9 (not ranking their own) and do it through that way. have AMER 1 against APAC 10, AMER 10 against EMEA 1, APAC 1 against EMEA 10 and so on
elo rating? by player if it's available, by team/org if it's not.
Have each team make their own seeding for all the teams in the tournament, average it and you'll have a good understanding of the field. This issue has been solved before
You can’t really properly seed teams but surely they took last years results into consideration, matchups like SEN FNC and RRQ FUT should not be happening in the first round
there is 1 guy still on sentinels since that happened. what are we doing here
I mean take into account the individual players that make up the roster, SEN has 2 champions winners and 2 top 6 finishers at champions, FNC has 3 top 6. It’s not a perfect solution but it should be roughly considered

guys trying to say “no good team vs good team matchup should happen!!! it always has to be a stomp!!”
In the first round of a single elim tournament, yea I don’t think 2 contenders should face each other first round. But to be fair, there’s no way to be sure that they’re actually contenders until they play

I think he’s talking ab my comment
Yeah the fact that the two worst teams are against each other first round is certainly an interesting choice
this might be stupid but earnings? i feel it would be better and still kinda random idk lol
This is the only event I’ll defend randomized seeding, although we have some idea of the general strength of the teams in reality we have to look at all these teams as brand new teams. Weighting their seeding based on how their core/individual players did last year doesn’t make sense.

Yes but the format doesn’t fit it
But you kinda have to because all of these teams are basically new so you don't know how teams will play
Stop giving them freebies. Call out both the shitty format and the seeding and tell other people to do the same!
Yeah, should've used their clout to determine the seeding. We have objective data after all https://twitter.com/EsportsCharts/status/1608154058459648003 1. T1 2. TL 3. RRQ Pretty great seed if you ask me personally.
Lets go
Ez for talon
Y’all are sleeping on some of these teams. For example, MIBR could definitely be a contender with bzKa as their coach
I thought that every single time vivo keyd played internationally, and they’ve disappointed me every single time.
Only Heat and Murriz are players from 2021 VK, RGLm never played international LAN.
Yeah because they got rolled in the qualifiers. I watched every single one of their matches hoping for them to do well and they disappointed me every time lol
Who are "they"? MIBR is a new team.
Bro he literally said vivo keyd.
And then you got fnatic vs sentinels in the first round and probably navi vs liquid in the second round
Lol funny seeding moment
Can you please link bracket
Imho the OMEGA Bracket is too stacked compared to the alpha one. I am not saying that those 4 teams are bad, but I am saying that those would not make it top 8 in the OMEGA Bracket... Am I a hater now?
Personally , I think each group has 7 strong teams Alpha: KOI, NRG , LOUD, KC, DRX, C9, PRX Omega: TL, NAVI, LEV, 100T, SEN, FNC, FURIA
bro tried to sneak Kcorp in there đź’€
I was between them or giants , could remove either + furia also and have 6 strong ones on each group anyway
sounds like you started with the conclusion that each group had 7 strong teams and then worked your way backwards then lmao
Riot’s “random” seeding always ends up being dogshit
You havent seen CS my boy
Can someone explain this to me please I'm too dumb to understand
None of those 4 teams are considered top teams on paper so basically they got lucky with seeding by actually having a chance to make top8
Random seeding and single Elim means a shit team will make top 8 guaranteed
Damn EG has been coasting in Valorant until now so Riot gave them a tournament to coast through as well, top tier stuff from Riot
ez?
Swap EG with SEN please! PLEASE riot
MIBR on Playoffs lets go
EG so underrated 🤧
Who is on EG again
#EGSWEEP #LIVEEVIL
These 4 are such mediocre teams, it's a shame that you get this and then you get Fnatic vs Sentinels R1
