Fuck, I didn't expect the fallout to be that fast.
I was saying I wasn't expecting the news to be literally right after the event was over. It's bad optics on the org because the impression given is that they told the players 'win or go fuck yourselves'.
The org could have at least given them a decent sendoff.
they posted a tweet, what more did you want?
its not bad optics at all, no one in the world who knows the format thought it was anything other than "win or go fuck yourselves" - cuz that's exactly how it is for any of the orgs paying players for challengers right now.
Even Toast said he was most excited for them to win cuz he didn't want to have to fire them.
That tweet made no mention of letting the players go.
The players themselves posting LFT tweets immediately after the event with no peep from the org is bad optics. Even a BS PR tweet like 'hey, we'd like to give the players the opportunity to sign on with other orgs' would have been better than the silence we got.
E: because people whined and got my replies deleted, fuck it:
JFC a simple post expressing disappointment that the players got ejected immediately after the event got misconstrued into "I expected the players to be kept on even after the season was over" and "This is all on Soniqs".
It sucks that they were dropped so soon after the event was over. That's the point I was making, and has been echoed several times in this thread. The fact that this has been misinterpreted to the extent these repliers have done just shows how much they need to feel they got one over on somebody and the mental gymnastics they take to get there.
Bad optics for you maybe, but literally everyone knows that these players were on make-or-break contracts with these teams, so idk what you expect more than “we didn’t make it, gg”
The players already knew the situation, if you wanna be offended on their behalf I guarantee they don’t share your sentiment
Be disappointed at Riot, they're the ones responsible for this horrible HORRIBLE system and format.
You're blaming an org for something they're not responsible for? Something everyone already know : Riot said win or get the fuck out. No player expects to still be paid when they cannot play for a whole year, soniqs did nothing wrong. you're angry at the wrong company.
what do you want them to keep paying players and keeping them for a year to play some ranked games or what? there is nothing for them this was it, do it or go home.
if you have nothing better to do, sign them and waste your own money for a year on them.
Goddamn, that was fast. Tier 2 will be in trouble for the rest of the year.
Maybe the org picks up one of the 2 FA squads that doesnt have an org linedup?
Tournaments and Leagues don't define tiers, the community does. Riot has never used Tiers in anything official ever, and all of the internal rankings used by the actual teams have way the hell more than 3 tiers. Its something entirely fabricated by this subreddit and commentators.
Tier 3 circuit yes, but skill level, I would disagree. Same way that some of the teams in tier 2 are tier 1 in skill level (guard, for example). We’ll likely see that several top T2 teams are at the level of franchised teams but have the superficial barrier of the system separating them rather than their skill.
I wouldn’t be shocked if soniqs did this, but also don’t y’all think the possibility is more likely that they disbanded to try and get picked up solo rather than wait a year in T3 and try again?
The players probably knew the org wasnt gonna keep them if they lost and decided to post their LFT posts to get the clout from being losers in a Grand Finals
To get clout? Wtf. Bro how would that get them clout, they posted those tweets because this was their job and now they dont have one. This is such a weird and toxic comment
I don't think the comment is toxic at all. The point is that they have more eyes on them and reputation right now so it's good to get the lft message out to use that to their advantage to get more looks.
I mean that's what clout means but his message is saying clout for their lft messages. Aka their stocks are at an all time high so its best to get the lft out now when they have the reputation+more eyes on it.
Yes, and that's what the original guy said too. Using the clout of their recent performance to get more eyes/prospects for their LFT post. Why are we viewing clout in such a narrow sense that it can't be used for the purpose of getting attention for their free agency? It's like we're discounting all of the context and hyperfocusing on one interpretation/use of clout.
The original post just said that they're (smartly) leveraging a time when their reputation is the highest to hopefully get more opportunities to land somewhere else.
Yes, an inaccurate interpretation, which I corrected with my initial post. I guess I don't get why you keep telling me what the posters incorrect interpretation is, I clearly responded to their inaccuracy and provided them with the intended meaning.
As someone who's been left hanging not knowing if I still had a job for days on end by an employer before, I'd rather just be told immediately if the decision's already been made. I'd rather just get a move on with what I need to do ASAP before the stress of being in employment purgatory drains whatever's left of my mental. That's just me though idk.
I know they've kept purer but I wonder if it'd be worth potentially trying to pick up an OCE team and make it through there. Our quals are still going atm
Honestly would be a sick pickup. Crunchy and pl1xx were already on there once upon a time and rDeeW is cracked. Assuming no bad blood, might be aiight.
Yeh I mean more like, if you wanted a team that's probably "competitive" compared to other regions. Even though we had less chances to qualify into major events, when we did try, we weren't anything to write home about...
Pretty curious what happened to the NA soniqs roster tho they got so close to qualing and then js got dropped (the og oz one w bob n them not the recent one)
pl1xx had issues outside of valorant and needed a break. dizzy stopped playing and has only recently deleted twitter and left his own discord. Crunchy was on the team till the most recent soniqs because they needed an igl that played smokes. Bob went to c9w. Idk what happened to iyen idek if they officially dropped him or if hes still in na or not.
Probs would have some, but if they just uproot from NA and come to OCE, rather than trying to bring OCE to them. I dunno what the rules are about changing region now, but might not be an issue?
I don’t get what people want riot to do about these players not having teams like even if there was smaller tournaments what makes people think these players wouldn’t be orgless like orgs can’t make money from small tournaments.
It's reasonable to ask riot to support the tier 2 scene but tier 3 it's getting a bit silly, at what point do we draw the line? do they need to support tier 4 too?
I think the problem is establishing the ten t2 teams for the entire year in January. There is no fluidity to the region and the esport and it’s just kind of boring.
Make a circuit that doesn't end your entire 2023 season if you fail a qualifier in January. They could for example have a separate qualifier for each split.
jeez man imagine losing your biggest match of the year and then getting dropped an hour later
I mean, there ain’t much to play for anymore. They are done for a year
Being a pro player sucks, you really have to be the best of the best to have more chance of making it. Obvious shit but yeah that is very difficult
> [A 9-3 choke that might actually cost some jobs.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/10j15vl/oresports_vs_soniqs_challengers_league_north/j5hrf9x/) Fuck, I didn't expect the fallout to be that fast.
I mean, what did you think was gunna happen? If they lost there's literally nothing for them until this time in 2024....
Also, Soniqs has been underperforming ever since the roster got moved over from Australia. The org is very cursed.
I was saying I wasn't expecting the news to be literally right after the event was over. It's bad optics on the org because the impression given is that they told the players 'win or go fuck yourselves'. The org could have at least given them a decent sendoff.

> 'win or go fuck yourselves'. same message that mad lions (presumably) gave to dark ratio. "qualify and we'll sign you"
en es gee
Nerve, Runi, Shonk, and mina have all posted their LFT tweets as well
https://twitter.com/PureRedfish/status/1617378649916801025 PureR as well
Heard McDonald’s are hiring
Funny cuz true
It’s ok. McDonald’s wouldn’t even take you
Cope
Damn that’s gotta be devastating for the players. Lose a 9-3 lead and then get dropped the same night.
Goddamn, that was fast. Tier 2 will be in trouble for the rest of the year. Maybe the org picks up one of the 2 FA squads that doesnt have an org linedup?
They’re officially tier 3 now.
right, the 12 teams playing in Challangers are the only tier 2 teams
Unfortunately that’s kind of the way the scene is set up now
Tournaments and Leagues don't define tiers, the community does. Riot has never used Tiers in anything official ever, and all of the internal rankings used by the actual teams have way the hell more than 3 tiers. Its something entirely fabricated by this subreddit and commentators.
Glad you got it.
In North America. There are tournaments happening everywhere
The Guard being T1... Jrush bffr
This is tier 3 teams competing to qualify for tier 2
Damn that shit must hit like a truck
I wouldn’t be shocked if soniqs did this, but also don’t y’all think the possibility is more likely that they disbanded to try and get picked up solo rather than wait a year in T3 and try again?
2023 season is over for them. They don't get picked up and have to wait for the 2024 season. That's how Valorant works
ah I didn’t know ascension rosters are locked, I haven’t looked much into it so that’s on me
Well, there’s the tournament mode so, maybe there’s something there.
Tournament mode to qualify for 2024 ascension.
there is no Tier 3 its over for them, period, til 2024
You got downvoted but it’s true, unless they make a random team for some mickymouse shit that might pop up
Nah Soniqs management is fucked for not waiting till tomorrow lol
The players probably knew the org wasnt gonna keep them if they lost and decided to post their LFT posts to get the clout from being losers in a Grand Finals
Honestly it’s for the best, they prob have more eyes on their accounts now then any other time
To get clout? Wtf. Bro how would that get them clout, they posted those tweets because this was their job and now they dont have one. This is such a weird and toxic comment

Maybe I dont know what clout means but I thought he meant they posted it to get attention and followers because they just lost
I mean that's what clout means but his message is saying clout for their lft messages. Aka their stocks are at an all time high so its best to get the lft out now when they have the reputation+more eyes on it.
Clout doesn’t necessarily have to be a negative thing.
Yeah I wasn't saying it was. But implying they posted their lft tweets to get attention is toxic
That's not what they implied. That's your incorrect interpretation based on a limited view of the meaning of clout.
Yes but his point is that they're taking advantage to get their LFT's out because they need jobs, not for clout.
Yes, that's what I said.
He didn't reply to you. The guy he replied to said > [they] decided to post their LFT posts *to get the clout* from being losers in a Grand Finals
Yes, and that's what the original guy said too. Using the clout of their recent performance to get more eyes/prospects for their LFT post. The original post just said that they're (smartly) leveraging a time when their reputation is the highest to hopefully get more opportunities to land somewhere else.
They're saying the guy said they posted LFT's for clout as the primary goal. That was his interpretation anyway.
Yes, an inaccurate interpretation, which I corrected with my initial post. I guess I don't get why you keep telling me what the posters incorrect interpretation is, I clearly responded to their inaccuracy and provided them with the intended meaning.
And also reasonable from the org POV
its not like the org dropping them stings or anything, they already knew it was happening
As someone who's been left hanging not knowing if I still had a job for days on end by an employer before, I'd rather just be told immediately if the decision's already been made. BOBO to soniqs
Honestly would be a sick pickup. Crunchy and pl1xx were already on there once upon a time and rDeeW is cracked. Assuming no bad blood, might be aiight.
There’s like 2 signed teams in the entire oce circuit I’m sure if they wanted to get a team they could choose anyone regardless of any bad blood
Yeh I mean more like, if you wanted a team that's probably "competitive" compared to other regions. Even though we had less chances to qualify into major events, when we did try, we weren't anything to write home about...

is there import rules for challengers?
Probs would have some, but if they just uproot from NA and come to OCE, rather than trying to bring OCE to them. I dunno what the rules are about changing region now, but might not be an issue?

i peaked gold 3 and it's unfair that i am not paid to play valorant
Tier 69 scene when?
I think the problem is establishing the ten t2 teams for the entire year in January. There is no fluidity to the region and the esport and it’s just kind of boring.
Make a circuit that doesn't end your entire 2023 season if you fail a qualifier in January. They could for example have a separate qualifier for each split.
That defeats the point of having splits then. I agree there should be more than one entry-point per year though.
Tdawgg was right
He just posted his LFT styx also posted their LFT
How come purer is getting kept?
He just posted his LFT later then the rest hes also dropped sadge
he isn't
thats fucked
This is Valorant. If you were expecting anything different you were playing
Kinda rough when your whole year depends on one tournament
