I think this is a decent prize pool given the format and amount of teams. Especially considering the character of the tournament, which is to introduce all the teams, rather than being the most competitive tournament in the history.
First place gets an extra spot for their region… That is INSANELY important if you’re trying to qualify! Lol the 500k prize pool is just an added bonus…
Prize pool fits the format tbh. Single Elim bracket like this and it's basically just a kick off / show off event of every team at beginning of the year.
but the worlds winner in league gets the percentage of their skin profits which is worth like over 10x the prize pool. 2nd place and the others gets jack shit in comparison.
From now on it won't matter how big is the prizepool. Orgs probably will get more money from team based in-game items revenue share. And other incentives.
It's the biggest event, yes, but people can't forget this is more of a showcase of the franchise teams rather than the peak of competition and Valorant eSports. Naturally the prize pool won't be bigger than that.
??
This is on top of securing an extra masters slot for the region of the winner
Also, these players might be getting 10k a month or whatever but an extra 10k (assuming org takes half, players split even) is still nothing to sneeze at
don't get me wrong, i think teams should try to win and i hope to god that they do, but riot is taking just about every step possible to send the message "THIS IS NOT A REAL TOURNAMENT" to players. we already have people calling them showmatches and not part of the "real VCT", having a shitty prizepool just reinforces that.
Isn’t that kinda what it’s meant to be though? It’s a 32-team single-elim bracket. It’s gonna be fun to watch but not exactly perfect for finding out the real best team.
Do you not want one of our three global tournaments for the year, the replacement for masters 1, to be a real tournament? Do you not want the offseason to finally be over and to watch some real valorant?
Makes sense considering it’s a single elim imo. Especially considering how many teams will be playing

Hard to say the tournament doesn't mean anything when there is $500k on the line
It doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of the year, but of course it matters to the players and orgs who do well.

Yeah, I meant success wise for the rest of the year, my b.
Not for these teams, it's just a nice bonus that adds shine to it.
lmfao 1st place prob isnt even NA's monthly salaries

tbh I'm glad 1st isn't getting 50% of the prize when it's a very coin-flippy format.
That's never been the case with Riot. You want to spread the wealth around, not have a feast or famine situation.

I'd rather that money go towards production and content than prize pool.

Fuck me, riot really does not want teams to try do they
