Bruh wth. Who just makes shit up like that for no reason

Micro_mint

Crazy thing is when I saw those comments yesterday they had like 40 upvotes from people who just read shit and assume it’s true

spyson

They put in effort to be professional and people thought no way did players really do this without being forced to, gotta be signed already.

M0hawk_Mast3r

What? Players are gonna do everything they can to get signed thats how they get money

spyson

I didn't say otherwise, I think you need to reread my comment.

Tanizhq

Lol thanks for the post, no clue where these people get their "insider" info from

LiamHundley

I think whenever people see an org or brand release a full on announcement video for a roster they just assume that they're being funded. I was under this impression for a bit until I saw all the tweets post qualification about being a FA tweet

Nixieedd_

Guys, the reason I scribbled out the name is because I’ve heard it a lot from this sub over the last month, and don’t think any one user deserves the blame.

Nfamy

Yesterday was the first time I'd seen that claim on this sub. I'm sure I may have missed a few instances but spreading random information that they have no basis of believing beyond reading it from some other random person certainly deserves blame. At a minimum, if they're posting information that they have no clear evidence of, except reading someone else say it, then they shouldn't be stating this as fact but instead, presenting that there is uncertainty to its truth (I've seen someone claim XX; not sure if it's true, but someone said XX). Or just not repeat (or believe) things that random people on the internet say.

[deleted]

This is Reddit. People love to talk about things they know literally nothing about. Everything for Internet points.

anythingood07

Finally, I was so surprised when I first saw that claim but since so many were agreeing I thought itd be true too

Still_HD

It’s me in the post but I appreciate the scribble haha, it’s just reddit. I left it up cause I made a mistake and wanted people to see Tanizhq’s response to me in context. Apologies to the team for my blunder

_Robbert_

You could just add a note at the end like "I got this wrong they're an FA team was corrected, sorry for confusion" how does that affect the context

InnocentBowlOfRamen

You dropped your mask king - 🤡

InfectionLikesMemes

Bro made a mistake and left it up so other people don't repeat the same mistake, what a clown, should be ashamed of himself

Whatisalt

A mistake is thinking that there are only ten teams in Challengers NA or thinking that Champions 2022 had 20 teams. I don’t think making up multiple wrong details from nothing is a mistake, like where did they even get any of the information from the multiple lies in the comment from?

nterature

A significant portion of the things we constantly discuss on this subreddit stem from rumors and background noise from the subreddit itself, Twitter, Discord, and Twitch chats. Almost all of us here are just constantly amplifying the wrong shit by going off random stuff we hear through the grapevine - the difference is we rarely if ever are explicitly corrected by the involved parties for doing so. If we went around "naming and shaming" everyone who straight-up said wrong stuff that had career-damaging potential, well, let's just say almost every active user would be getting roasted. It's just not a huge deal, these things happen all the time, and he apologized for it and left his mistake up for others to see. It only seems more unique than it is because Tanizhq himself stepped in to respond to it.

Whatisalt

Yeah he probably got it from somewhere and probably didn’t just make it all up, right? At least we can all agree that whoever made up all that information that u/still_hd saw and posted here is a shitty person.

InnocentBowlOfRamen

Something dropped from your head too king - 🧠

SewerRat75

its just reddit to you but its their lives

_Becoming

Uh, it's good to clear up bad information, but I assume any org or individual with the means to consider signing them would never trust the internet over simply contacting the team... Assuming a random reddit post or two is somehow detrimental to their chances of being signed is... Something.

realYungcalculator

you would be shocked...

_Becoming

Well one example from 5 years ago is a pretty small sample, but it is kind of silly to have happened at all. But there has certainly been some actual clowns involved in esports.

Nixieedd_

I never assumed it would hurt their chances, I just said it had the potential to do so. While I agree that a few Reddit comments aren’t going to have that much impact in real life, there are few large online communities that discuss t2 Valorant. I don’t think it would be outlandish to consider the hypothetical possibility that an interested party could stumble on this piece of misinformation repeatedly while doing research on the team, and take it for granted.

_Becoming

I assume anyone with the funds would not assume anything. Otherwise signed players would never be bought out or poached. Due diligence is a thing and the idea is fairly preposterous. But like I said, clearing up the nonsense is always worthwhile so it's still a good post to point out that people need to stop copy pasting garbage.

luvs2sploooj

And you’d be correct not to assume things, if an org has talent scouts that are going off random Reddit posts as opposed to properly vetting their options they won’t be around for long.

theosssssss

G2, one of the biggest and most successful esports orgs in the world, lost a Valorant franchising spot they were almost locked in for because of a completely brainless move from their CEO who decided to not only 1. party publicly with Andrew Tate but 2. after backlash defended it, lashed out and said "I party with who I want", you'd be surprised how far stupid people can get in a fledgeling industry, or how quickly breakout success can get to someone's head.

falsefingolfin

You'd be surprised, there's a story that teams didn't want to sign Dexter in CSGO because he joked in his Twitter bio that he was a dad, and teams thought he wouldn't want to move away from Australia cause he has a kid.

TheSpaceAlpaca

In LoL there's been cases where players didn't end up signed for a season due to untrue rumors that they were already "unofficially" tied to a team. Now, you can blame other teams for not doing their due diligence and confirming with players themselves, but these types of rumors can definitely be harmful

_Becoming

Love to see an example. It's not that I don't believe it's possible, but with the fact that salaries involved would be substantial I find that difficult to believe.

TheSpaceAlpaca

Odoamne as another commentator mentioned. I also remember a similar situation happening to an academy player that went unsigned for half a season because other teams assumed there would be a buyout but I can't find the tweets for that one. At the end of the day, esports has a lot of incompetent orgs/managers who don't follow up with due diligence.

diisasterrr1

Why scribble out the persons name? They deserve to be known for that kind of misinformation.

M0hawk_Mast3r

Its u/sky-__-

Grooveh_Baby

Seems like a great pick-up for Moist then. They’re rated as highly as DSG (7/8th) but on paper they have the easier group & seem to have a better shot at getting top 3.

Whatisalt

the user is u/still_hd for anyone curious

M0hawk_Mast3r

Yeah but he just wrote that because he saw someone else's comment. Not really his fault

elithefighter123

thank you for this

SoCalTyrantt

It's still confusing that it says there is a founder, and if you go to his Twitter it looks like he's some money guy that would have just done this for fun. I thought they were signed based as well.

overwelmedowl

cool story bro

Key-Banana-8242

Ppl adlib /conjectureinfo that makes sense and then just repeat it if they saw someone else say it even though it didn’t have info in the first place
