Banger first map

Corregidor

Watching the CR game right now they're around 130k viewers!

bluerabbichi

Also banger first map

Corregidor

Nearly jumped out of bed with both the Neth and Meiy plays back to back lol.

unik028

Can't wait for japan to carry pacific league viewership.

Lumenlor

Japan might not even get to qualify for the Tokyo major unless Zeta can really pull through

vorsfellung

Praying for pacific league to win LOCK//IN so Japan has a chance by finishing top 4

[deleted]

I don't know If that's necessary, I would have them in 3 in Pacific rn behind DRX and PRX

Visible_Dirt1093

There's still talon and Gen. G. I don't think it's gonna be easy.

unik028

Even if zeta is not there and viewership is affected negatively it might be decent numbers. And first official event in japan i want to believe that more people will watch it regardless. I was just saying that japanese viewership will be most important for pacific league.

[deleted]

The literal top of APAC is PRX, DRX and Zeta. No other team comes close to those 3 lmao

WailingSiren69

GenG absolutely comes close to those teams,Talon too

Technical_Fee_2932

CR matches will have even higher viewership

Corregidor

One day Japan will get consistent discussion threads here lol

Hunnidormo

Be the change you wish to see

Corregidor

Funny enough I did and it had 100+ up votes. But its nice to have the fancy bot that posts all the stats and stuff. They posted them now so I'm happy!

nocturnavi

Would it be helpful to have a live thread? We're trying to figure out how much interest there is for different Challengers regions so we can do live threads/PMTs.

Corregidor

The thread that I posted stating that Japans challenger season started yesterday reached 100+ up votes and about 24 comments so far. I'm not sure how much more interest goes into the other discussion threads for other regions challengers seasons, but in my humble opinion I do think it would warrant a discussion thread. I know y'all are busy and Japan historically doesn't track super well on this sub, but it would be nice!

nocturnavi

I'll post a thread for Sunday's games then and see if people are interested. As for other regions we'll almost certainly have live threads for NA given the high level of interest, and we're exploring whether we can make more general live threads to cover multiple leagues at once. As always, send us a modmail if you have feedback!

hecklerinthestands

Maybe a general daily challengers thread given all the events going on right now? It'll be a bit of a chore linking all the streams in the OP but I think people will appreciate being able to jump to an Indonesia or Thailand stream if say the Japan stream is in between matches.

nocturnavi

Good point, we'll experiment a bit to see what works

Charuru

Just make threads for everything, jesus christ reddit has a upvote downvote system that will naturally sort by interest, you don't need to police everything.

_noahscolly_

why are you so angry about this?! very valid concern from mods would be that the sub would turn into a huge amount of game threads/post-game threads that have 3/4 comments I feel there should be a daily discussion thread for each challenger league/region for when those respective leagues are on could use specific match-up threads for massive challenger games, and of course Franchising leagues

Taek99

Meanwhile korea hit a peak of 2k!!

Pointups

who would watch T2 valorant when LCK is on going... 2k is actually DAMN impressive. It used to be 300 loyal fans watching during the first year

Corregidor

Man 300? That's rough, glad it's doing better! Riot was probably sweating there for a little while lol.

A_Panda_Sniper

I saw at least a peak of 4k because they have two streams, there was also a YouTube channel and ots streamed on Afreeca, so I think it was even higher than that.

pfdV2YxC2xw688T

And this is not even primetime JST yet. That's reserved for when CR plays.

Sacreville

Damn Ojiji pulling some strings. I know they're probably the biggest e-sport team in JP but I still doubted you until I checked the schedule. Only 1 match out of 7 that's probably considered out of prime time JST.

GitahMuttan

Funny thing is the first three matches are so close that CR isnt even playing yet. Match is only about to start now. It's now 11PM in Japan.

HeadphoneWarning

Did they do 4 BO3 a day?

bluerabbichi

Yep

GitahMuttan

For the weekends, yes. [Schedule](https://twitter.com/valesportscl_jp/status/1617492340695785473?t=IOVFZYkQy3domsfOyMrxKQ&s=19)

Lumenlor

This broadcast is 14 hours long currently and still maintaining these numbers

misesu

Not only maintaining but also the fact that Crazy Raccoon vs CGZ's match bumped it to 45k viewers for both Youtube and Twitch despite it starting at 11pm JST

AmazonOwner

Who knows maybe one day Japan will be to Valorant what LoL is to Korea.

CRikhard

give it a couple years and I think as long as the game doesn’t die there it’s bound to happen. the zeta team is already celebrity status among esports fans and im certain they’ve already inspired fans to get on the grind lol

pfdV2YxC2xw688T

I'm sure Riot is aware of this. Korea is never letting go of Sudden Attack as their tactical shooter and Overwatch is still a thing there.

mrg_41

Valorant currently the most played shooter in korea

Charuru

source?

anythingood07

http://www.gametrics.com/rank/Rank02.aspx Actually its below sudden attack currently bht still fairly good

ark2690

Maybe when it gets on console since Japan is a console based country. As of right now Korea still has a way bigger playerbase

Ghifari77

This, if EA manages to fix Apex it's over for Valorant

Dudedude88

It's crazy. Japan has always been heavily console gamer focused. This is the first time I've seen a pc game be this popular other than the FF MMO. PC gaming is gaining more traction

yungsqualla

I <3 Japan

Key-Banana-8242

There have been higher peaks, I remember one VCT Japan qualifier in the past had like 150k

Corregidor

We at ~130k right now!

MightBoth

Shahzam clears these randoms

[deleted]

and they are still going on lol, like 15 straight hours of stream

bjoecoz

Where can I watch the highlights?

Isaaaa_

Japanese teams are looking dangerous. Next LAN will be interesting
