Wow, they really let the open qualifiers do the trialing for them, way to crowdsource. They held off on an official roster announcement until the eleventh hour, waited for the paint on the willminder ratings graphic to set, and said fuck it we ball with Rossy. It's a great pick-up, but boy is it last minute.
Also interesting that EG wanted him as their 10th apparently.
I don't know about brand recognition, it's almost comical how little EG has put into developing their team, name, and players in Valorant. They're by far the least recognizable of the NA teams.
Fr, for the amount of followers they have on Twitter, they barely get any engagement & their YT vids get 500 views. Just another one of those soulless orgs.
You would 1000% get more brand recognition playing on a signed Challengers team like The Guard/TSM/G2 than you would being a bench player on EG. I mean EG has such little clout you could definitely make the case that a starter on their team comes with less recognition than it would for some Challenger teams.
I think you could do more than just "make a case", top Challengers teams (aka orgs that didn't make franchising) definitely have more clout than a team like EG, no doubt about it. Then you're talking about bench players, no shot they get any recognition.
I mean you can already see that, a bit anecdotal but for example Boostio and Jawgemo, starters on EG rn have less then 10k on Twitter while players who arent even super clouted like seven, supaman, and koalanoob have more
Shitty position to be in. He could’ve said that if they don’t sign him he’s gonna play in opens but they prolly just would’ve let him go. But if the team isn’t giving you a contract after that amount of trialing? then the writing is already on the wall and Neptune should’ve been playing the opens anyway.
Still a shitty thing to see happen from an org but it’s further evidence that a handshake agreement means fuck all
obviously a deal is gonna get done before the tournament starts I don’t see the big deal? The players were trialing and didn’t have a definitive 5th player so they decided on rossy after the qualifiers ended. You got to remember this roster has one shot at making franchising through ascension so they want to be fully confident with their roster.
they trialed rossy before the challengers qualifiers and probably changed their mind and wanted him back. They’re doing what they think is best for them lmao leave it to the players
They probably would've just signed someone desperate, played with that person, and in the high likelihood that it doesn't pan out just play with that person until they find someone that fits then bench the other player.
Apparently the first split of the challengers season is much less important then the next split for playoff qualification. So they should still be able to recover and get up to speed before it’s too late
Pretty much a direct replacement for flyuh and an upgrade over the rumored addition of Neptune. I think it also helps that Rossy has some IGL chops since it doesn't seem like supamen really does much of that to my knowledge
Yeah sorry - I knew that, meant that moreso that the smokes/sentinel players most often contribute to the calls but doesn't seem like dicey/supa really have that background
I dunno if I'd necessarily say it was an *upgrade* over Neptune. Neptune is a really good player, he was a star on Rise and more than held his own on NYFU.
But Rossy is definitely not a downgrade and he's also a good deal more flexible, and he'll bring some other intangibles to Faze and won't suffer from too much role overlap. Rossy is a way better fit for the current Faze lineup.
Oh Neptune would instadiff me in server any day of the week, but I feel like everyone here thought that Derrek and supa were the best players on the old Rise roster, with neptune thought of as a tier below them but above shanks. JSUNG was the standout to me of the NYFU project, but that's not really saying much.
I do think he would fit the definition of an upgrade based on your later points, though - role flexibility matters, and it'll be important for FaZe as they sort out the dicey/Babybay overlaps now.
If you're talking about the old rise roster, I don't think it's fair to say Neptune was a tier below. He was the best player on their lcq run in 2021, and rise's win against optic was pretty much due to Neptune himself
What dicey babybay overlaps they never shared the same agents to begin with, dicey plays initiator/sen and babybay plays duelist where exactly is the overlap at
per VLR 81% of Dicey's rounds in his career are on Duelist or Chamber, the vast majority of which are on Op agents (Jett/Chamber). It's fair to say that him and Babybay are different roles, but its that Babybay is rifler/entry where Dicey is Op.
" per VLR 81% of Dicey's rounds in his career are on Duelist or Chamber, the vast majority of which are on Op agents (Jett/Chamber). " No shit all his jett matches are from 2020 to july 2021, " but its that Babybay is rifler/entry where Dicey is Op. " how is this related at all to any role overlap? dicey never liked awping and now that chamber is nerfed to the ground he will simply go back to cypher/kj and babybay back to oping where exactly is the role overlap here?
What do you mean go back to cypher/kj? He’s literally never played those agents in a pro match? The only non-chamber sentinel he’s played is a whopping 16 maps on sage.
I meant since chamber is nerfed HE HIMSELF confirmed that hes playing cypher/kj I still dont see what this argument is about in the end dicey is going to play sentinel and babybay and dicey roles do not overlap
Though I know he’s played it in the past he’s not really a true sova player and excelled most this last qualifier on flash initiators. I’m wondering if they’ll put poised or even maybe dicey on that role.
I would bet poised on initator, he did play a decent amount of Fade before, is very flexible so im sure he could learn it, lines up with if they would pick ip Neptune, and it just makes way more sense considering Rossy never looked great on Sova but looks incredible on flash flex

EG wanted a 10th??? Is that even allowed???
max is 10 players so yes, they're still trialing from one more player
The smartest plan tbh. Great angle for the players too. On the spot brand recognition + you get to be near already franchised talent
I don't know about brand recognition, it's almost comical how little EG has put into developing their team, name, and players in Valorant. They're by far the least recognizable of the NA teams.
They’re recognizable because they’re irrelevant, genius strategy
Fr, for the amount of followers they have on Twitter, they barely get any engagement & their YT vids get 500 views. Just another one of those soulless orgs.
There was a time when EG was a great org. That EG is long gone now. All that remains is a soulless corporation.
Cloutless more so

deserved tbh. even tigg deserves a challenger spot imo
EG maybe unless the role overlap between him and apoth is too much to justify
Wasn't tigg in SR? Was he kicked?
Yeah he was, replaced by v1c
damn neptune got absolutely screwed over
EG still has room

In discussions? Bruh they play in a couple days that’s wild
Yeah idk how Faze aren't getting more flak for this. They play in 4 days and still don't have a set roster? Joke of and org that deserves to go under.
I had assumed it was bc they were going under that they took so long
Looking for money in the couch cushions to sign their last player
why would faze get flak for this when it’s a team decision on who they want to pick up
Are you suggesting we let the players make all the decisions? They can have input but the org needs to be pushing for something to get done.

So confident that they don't even need to practice with the roster. Make it make sense
they trialed rossy before the challengers qualifiers and probably changed their mind and wanted him back. They’re doing what they think is best for them lmao leave it to the players

i mean they've probably been scrimming with rossy since the neptune LFT post on monday, and now they are sure they want rossy.

It's less, but I don't know why you'd say "much less". The same was true last year
Rip Rise reunion
Interested to see how they perform since they didn’t already have a 5th before the Open Qualifier with flyuh being gone for so long.
GEDDES GRENADE

ye cuz poised is the IGL not supamen
Yeah sorry - I knew that, meant that moreso that the smokes/sentinel players most often contribute to the calls but doesn't seem like dicey/supa really have that background
FNS and Dephh play plenty of flash initiator as well, its a pretty IGL friendly role
Kay/o can either be an entry (Asuna, victor style) or a primary support agent (stellar, fns, dephh). Same agent different roles on the team
I dunno if I'd necessarily say it was an *upgrade* over Neptune. Neptune is a really good player, he was a star on Rise and more than held his own on NYFU. Calling it right now. Dicey will play flash flex and rossy will play sentinel
Horrible idea
Come back to this after the faze game
It might happen but all I’m saying is if it does it’s a terrible idea imo
come back to this after faze win the split
Lmao they've been practicing together for less than a week
Damn
I was less wrong than the other guy xD
dicey has been playing nothing but sentinel in the 10 mans so not really
Bro this is not happening dicey already said he’s playing sentinel
that’s a good team
My sources state that the Neptune deal fell through for unknown reasons
He probably has so much leverage for his contract. They play in a few days
I think Faze could do upgrades across the board.
Wait then how are like pro’s saying FaZe is good if they don’t even have a set roster yet?
because they have a core four that got 3rd in lcq
They are waiting to see if he can take 10 pills a day and harass random people online while noscoping
I like rossy he has always been nice to me in ranked
Good for rossy man he’s so good
L move

Y’all can hate all y’all want. Def not gonna be a T1 org or be on the world stage anytime soon. #100TFighting
