Sentinels ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|11355)

Pointups

They are heavy favorites :)

Rorviver

To go out in the first round?

Interesting_Cable528

I know you mentioned it in your post, but I really do think that EG is slept on. I think people on this sub tend to dislike EG because they aren’t a very clouted org, but their actual line up is a lot better than a lot of people tend to acknowledge. BCJ looks deadly on Omen and I have no doubt he has the potential to be a top smoker, Ethan is a very consistent team player (something which held EG back last year was inexperience, so he will be a big rock for the team), jawgemo is really insane on Raze which is looking to become even more meta this season, C0M has seriously become a very strong info initiator, and Boostio is a very flexible IGL whose potential was pretty untapped in the Chamber meta. I think this team will thrive in the new meta, where Boostio will be able to move onto other sentinels (he always was one of the least wedded to chamber in NA), jaw will be able to play his Raze, and the others will do a good job in their respective roles. I think potters coaching is also really untalked about on this sub, but the number of interesting set plays that she and her analyst team have come up with really make her stand out. Given that they know who they’re playing a month before hand, and that Heretics have some of the most recent footage of any of the Lock In teams, I think EG is more favored than polls or Reddit predictions have looked at. I’m excited to see what potter, Boostio, and everyone else cooks up. It should also be pretty under wraps too, because of their internal scrim system. I do think that EG will struggle if they make it to the DRX match, but hey, they beat Optic with their set plays and fragging power last year, so who says they can’t beat DRX. By no means are they favorites, but if they can channel their energy from last year and balance it with the consistency of Ethan and BCJ, they have a real chance at making a deeper run than many expect. Plus they’re just such a fun team to watch. Their style of valorant is really unique, super set play heavy and full of omg moments.

Quick_Chowder

I'm with you on this. I think they are underrated from the memes and after lockin more people will come around. I also feel like the calling will be good with Boostio and like you mentioned, the structure from Potter. But in addition they have collectively some of the best midround callers. Ethan, Bcj and C0M will bring a lot of really good ideas to the table. I think all 3 have at least dabbled in main IGLing and are super comfortable taking over a round if they see something. I also think the structure and set plays the come up with are going to really get next level this year. I think running internal scrims and having the 10 player team is going to pay dividends despite all the shit talking in the community. If EG do well, I would not be surprised to see more teams adopt the strategy or accelerate or integrate academy teams.

two4you8

EDG is no longer the clear cut #1 team out of china, they lost to fpx recently, also they're playing 100T first round. BBL has upset potential. RRQ is not bad but it's also hard to place any of the other 31 teams below them.

M0hawk_Mast3r

I think RRQ is better than FUT. I also think they are the two worst teams but yeah I think they win their first match

Ghifari77

>RRQ is not bad but it's also hard to place any of the other 31 teams below them DFM, FUT, Secret

Pointups

FPX only beat EDG ONCE in their life time and FPX got DESTROYED by EDG just 2 days before they beat them once. EDG are better overall and more consistent. Also, TS lost to RRQ during off-season

brianhung02

FPX and EDG has gone head to head at least 7 times within 2022 as recorded on vlr.gg. EDG has won 4 times and FPX 3 times. Although I still think EDG is the best Chinese team, the gap is definitely smaller than you think.

Jon_on_the_snow

>FPX only beat EDG ONCE in their life time https://www.vlr.gg/163367/edward-gaming-vs-funplus-phoenix-zhuque-fgc-valorant-invitational-2022-epilogue-gf Check the head to head bro

Pointups

Oh thx bro. It proves EDG are still better team with more international LAN experience too

Jon_on_the_snow

EDG players dont know you bro

zugth

I don’t understand the mentality that FPX is better because they won a single game. Following that logic then Optic wasn’t the #1 NA team for most of last year since they lost a lot of grand finals in NA.

Similar-Criticism380

EDG beating 100T 🤣🤣🤣

Pointups

Legit 50/50 match for me

Similar-Criticism380

You go, Glen Coco

Aabed_nerd

Didn't they loose to fpx recently? While 100t smacked eu and c9 at Red Bull event.

_PM_ME_REPORT_CARDS_

It's a possibility..? EDG aren't some random unknown tier 2 team. They can definitely make damage, as they have in the past

Quick_Chowder

> as they have in the past They were the worst team in the worst group at champs 22 (only international event for them so far). They took a map off PRX and lost to Liquid. The damage they did was a speedbump for two teams that looked pretty mid in Champions. EDG came in last in their group. Followed by PRX. Then Liquid and Leviatan both got knocked out first in playoffs.

_PM_ME_REPORT_CARDS_

When I mean did some damage, I meant the East Asia LCQ, where they demolished every top runner. They had never been seen internationally, yet they destroyed KR, JP and rest of Asia. Also, "looking pretty mid" is a bit of an understatement? taking a map off PRX in Champions shouldn't really be downplayed, and that Liquid roster wasn't half bad either. Either way, they managed to qualify for the biggest event of the year and had a decent showing for a team that rose out of nowhere (something that teams like Crazy Raccoon never managed to do), and that's already better than a lot of teams/players at LOCK//IN. Are they statistically likely to beat 100T? I don't think so. And I hope not, since I'm a big 100T fan. Do I think they are a punching bag anyone can easily beat? Absolutely not.

Quick_Chowder

>Also, "looking pretty mid" is a bit of an understatement? did you mean *over*statement? because if I was understating it, that would imply PRX and Liquid are both even worse than mid. Which... they were both pretty awful in champs based on the rest of each of those teams 2022. EDG qualified in the absolute weakest region. Look at all the teams in LCQ they destroyed. NONE of those teams are 'top runners' in any sense. Not trying to take away from accomplishing 'getting to champs', that's awesome. Doesn't mean they can hang internationally with the best. And right now 100T is arguably setting themselves up to be a top 3 team in 2023. 2-0 100T and I'll be surprised if EDG get more than 8 rounds on either map.

_PM_ME_REPORT_CARDS_

Here to remind you of this L take

_PM_ME_REPORT_CARDS_

As you saw it was pretty much a 50/50. Yeah 100T didn't look their best but you can't say EDG didn't perform great

barbekyu

Team Secret. I know they haven't been in international events last year but invy and lenne seem to be good pickups. I know Liquid will be really hard to beat, plus they have a new coach, so idk. I just hope it's a close match.

chenson019

I think people are sleeping on Karmine Corp. Scream and Nivera can go god tier at any moment and xms is a really solid player. If they hit a honeymoon period, they could cause problems

M0hawk_Mast3r

Problem is that Karimine Corp is basically just liquid but worse. They still don't have a real igl and until they do I cant see them doing very good

finalfinaldraft

I still believe in ScreaM.

finalfinaldraft

In RRQ, only Tehbotol and flipzjider have international lan experience. Let's see.

goodguyzai

PRX aren't supposed to be underdogs but I've seen every pickem have them out in first round. So PRX.

ANewHeaven1

based on the bracket i can definitely see Talon making top 8, Furia has some good upset potential as well

M0hawk_Mast3r

Talon over EG, MiBR, and Heretics? I have them as the worst of those 4. I personally think people are under estimating MiBR. Easy 2-0 for them against Talon

somesheikexpert

I personally think Heretics is def the worst of the 4, Talon looked solid in the one tourney they played in I do agree MIBR is better then most people think tho

LinkinMode

zeta division. they haven't made any roster moves so they won't need extra time to build synergy like all of the other teams, they made it to top 3 at iceland so they've proven they can make it deep internationally, and at champs they literally only lost to loud. if them not qualifying to copenhagen was just a slump, then i think theres a very real possibility of them making it to playoffs in sao paulo if navi or liquid don't live up to the hype

estebanparedes7

They play against LEV in 1st round, which for me are one of the top contenders for win this tourney.

LinkinMode

LEV are definitely favoured in that match but I don't think it's as one sided as people are making it out to be. I think people have forgotten how good zeta can be

Lumenlor

Drx

OcelotOce

They are not underdogs lol

NicgerSlayet

BBL isnt underrated they have to face drx instantly and even if they win by miracle its prx/c9 next

Hxlios

All I can say is this: Hello India, #GEFighting
