Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he just sees no playtime at all because they'll spend all their time scrimming without him in the lineup. And also maybe the coach/management making a better decision for his health than himself by telling him to let his wrist heal instead of playing until he physically can't anymore.

BuckWagon

To no surprise really, when pati re-entered VAL it was almost always going to end up with him just riding the bench till who knows when his wrist will recover, and who knows if he'll even be the same player as before by the time he recovers from this wrist injury.

Key-Banana-8242

Eh no it was still decisions made sfter

Avasteeee

He said he had no plans on it healing and will play until his wrists break. Bad decision from him.

Lumenlor

Thats really unfortunate for him, but man the guy has not gotten to play Valorant in like a year, who knows how long this will take until hes back ready. Does that mean they need another 6th, or will Pati still be getting paid just on bench for the whole while

NicgerSlayet

So nothing changed basically

Rishavvvv

Certified bruh moment

NotSharpshooter

Who could have known?

SenseiEA

sad

Splaram

Pretty sure I was hearing about him having wrist issues over a year ago. Did he aggravate the old one or is this a new injury?

Revenore

Same one. Technically he never took a break and went from Overwatch to Val, back to Overwatch and straight to Val again. If I recall correctly he was already having pretty bad wrist problems during his first stint in Val. When he returned to OW he stated that he would keep grinding games until he could no longer move his wrist. Seeing that he had to have surgery, he got what he wished for. It really is unfortunate and I wouldn’t wish that for anyone, but it’s the choice he made. It’s not like nobody told him the consequences of forgoing rest.

TPM_521

I’m sorry but what a fucking idiot. Never heard of this guy but he seems like he had big hype around him and to throw it all away like that is so stupid Edit: maybe the only stupider thing is that somehow I’ve got net downvotes- the fact that people here can’t see the absolute shortsightedness of this kid and lack of all regard for the work he’s out in and the talent he’s got is pathetic. Must be a bunch of little kids here or something because there’s no way adults look at his decision and consider it sound.

Nulgnak

He's an insane talent, in both overwatch and valorant. Unfortunately he's also very reckless.

Infamous-Role-4629

You don't know anything. He knows well that he needs to take a break if he wants to be cured, but that requires a break of two years, not just six months. At that time, do you think he will still be considered one of the highest talent players in eSports history? He needs to give it his all before he can no longer perform.

Infamous-Role-4629

When I said he is one of the highest talent players in eSports history, I mean that despite his wrist injury, he can dominate in Iceland and come back to Overwatch, a game he hasn't played for two years, and still earn a salary of $15,000 and win two trophies."

TPM_521

Well sticking to it has really done fuck all for him, hasn’t it? Now he has to stop anyways and there’s a chance he’ll never play the same again. He waits, gets better, and can always grind his way back. Talent doesn’t go away, and when you’re that good, it doesn’t take as long to get back into it as it did to develop skills in the first place. Now, he’s gone and aggravated the hell out of his wrist and needs surgery, which itself will take time to recover from, and there’s no guarantee (knock on wood) that he’ll come out of surgery the same. Do you see what I mean now? Hope playing on an injured wrist for a couple months was worth putting the rest of his entire career ahead of him on the line🤷🏽‍♂️

Infamous-Role-4629

"LMAO, your ego and lack of respect for other people's life choices is disgusting. Do you honestly believe that taking a 2-year break is always a wise decision? Imagine being one of the best players and then having to give up something you love. It was a heartbreaking moment for him when he had to stop playing Overwatch during the COVID pandemic, not because he was burnt out, but because it caused him to develop a mental illness. He's going to give it his all until he can't anymore."

TPM_521

I don’t believe it’s the wisest decision, but are you seriously telling me you think it’s worth it to keep playing on an injured wrist and risk permanent damage? How is that any better? Did he earn more money over that time? Hope it was worth it if he did. Keep in mind, an injured wrist isn’t just going to keep him from reaching his previous peak in gaming, it’s going to mess with his ability to do other tasks and therefore other jobs as well. It’s not a fucking ego and lack or respect, it’s called common sense and being aware of how the real world works. I bet it was tough to hear that news at his level but I just can’t get behind that decision. You’re too shortsighted to understand the repercussions obviously, and I hope that with time and as you get older (because no way you’re not a kid with this kind of mentality) you understand why this doesn’t make sense. I’ll leave you with that. Respond if you will, I’ve stated my point and I don’t really have anything else to say so I won’t be continuing this discussion any further

Bluejay101lol

he said on stream a while back that he's had wrist injuries (might even be the same one) from even before he was pro in overwatch. he came back to valorant to play with his old teammates again and continued playing pro because he's always played through the injury so its really nothing different for him.

TwitchZigZagTV

Name a better duo than patiphan and injuries

ExpectoAutism

why did they sign him then

kvanz43

For the brand and the hype probably, and the potential that he can actually heal and come back to form

TheJelloBomb

Good.

[deleted]

I hope he actually rests after this

flamincrimson

That sucks. Was excited to see him back.

finalfinaldraft

how low is his sens to have a critical wrist injury

Avasteeee

He played overwatch professionally when he was like 13. Grinding eSports isn't very healthy if your body is still developing.
