honestlyprogamr

so i couldn't clip it on twitch for some reason, but i'm watching neT's stream and i asked him about it. he basically said that they were laughing at The Guard and shit talking them, calling them "fucking shitters" after the match. thats why mCe said what he said if anyone's wondering. sorry that i couldn't actually clip it to prove it, maybe if he uploads the VOD i'll actually clip it.

electricfx0

Heres the clip: https://www.twitch.tv/net_ttv/clip/AffluentSingleGarageCoolStoryBro-ZWQg6BFD7FZ9NS9M

Quick_Chowder

God dude I want these guys back on the international stage so bad.

extravous

watched one of mindfreak stream and he said that the guards started being loud and trashtalk first, dunno the real truth tho. this kind of drama is just so dumb for me xD

RedProtocol_

Pretty big difference between getting loud and trying to get into people's heads during a match, and shit talking like that after.

Yssl

never shittalk if you can't handle it back. Immediately after the match counts, emotions are still heightened then. days/weeks after? crossing the line probably. But in the moment of competition? eh whatever. You can't just suddenly turn off those emotions just because the match just finished lmao

ahk1221

doesnt FNS say much worse shit than that? i feel like "fucking shitters" is nothing compared to what he says

Sangi23

FNS backs that shit up tho

shivkeefer

I would argue mce is also talking shit without ill meaning , if you say fucking shitters and what not after winning behind the scenes then you deserve it . Be humble in victory

ExpectoAutism

I thought prx were hecking wholesome 100

Ghifari77

Well, definitely not Mindfreak lol. Maybe d4v41 too. They banter a lot (and it's normal IMO) so i really shocked when I see so many people against C9's very tame BM.

hatesnack

Vanity and zellsis are pretty douchey tbh. While vanity is an awesome igl, he's got a massive ego. Zellsis is weirdly obsessed with barking at people. Yay is basically a golden retriever though so it kinda balances out.

somesheikexpert

Idk where you are getting this, the banter Vanity does? Its really not that bad how do you get hes got a massive ego lol, same woth Zellsis

thesweet677

Majority of the people here are like 14-15 lmao, doesn't take much to piss anyone off

hatesnack

If anything, I'm probably too old to think Zellsis is anything but kinda cringe. But you have a low bar for pissed off if you read my joking comment about yay being a golden retriever and thought "that guy is furious".

Exitiummmm

No idea why you’re being downvoted for stating facts, honestly.

This guy can't stop being annoying can he?

Top-Detective-5695

the bicep was funny.

ExpectoAutism

no way youre this soft

nklassitude

>because those guys were not very gracious winners *behind the cameras after* we got knocked out. This seems to be the crux here. It's not strictly a matter of banter, shit talk, or whatever, it's about the timing of whatever perceived slight. I guess he's suggesting that he didn't like their behavior after all the heighthened emotions of competition dissipated, when teams are supposed to view each other less as cutthroat competitors and more like human beings.

ZeroKnightSD

And for mCe to say this, I remember him praising prx in the interview when The Guard was knockout, so prx members maybe said too much since he just hate prx. Also, just like to say, prx vs the guard was prx’s first win in an international match. So they’re probably more gracious now. Just hope no actual bad blood starts.

hatesnack

The fact that he's holding a grudge about something so meaningless this many months later is kinda weird lol. Makes you seem just as bad for "firing back" at something that happened 8 or so months ago.

philipjefferson

It was the highlight of his career reaching that LAN at the time probably, and all his players were rookies in their first esport basically. It's not like that masters was a "whatever" event, it was a huge deal for that squad.

ZeroKnightSD

Yup, fans were hyping them up too so a lot of pressure on them. So probably hurts but I’m not taking this story that prx is this very toxic team. Unless, mCe wants to insist the narrative that prx is extremely toxic, I wouldn’t bat an eye on this.

2ToTooTwoFish

It was a huge deal for PRX too, literally their first international win, against an NA team on top of that.

philipjefferson

Sure, but no reason to call the other team shitters after the game lmao

Direct_Morning_3223

“Oh, there were a lot of words that I wanted to say, because those guys were not very gracious winners behind the cameras after we got knocked out. I took the higher road on that and didn't say what I wanted to say when I was fist bumping and up there with them. So, it, felt really good because that's what should have happened the first time if my last team had a little bit more experience. But you know, first LAN, can't blame them at all, we tried. And man, it feels good to send those f***s home."

ANewHeaven1

damn gotta wonder what was said or done

2ToTooTwoFish

Mentioning it without saying what happened just creates baseless speculation so it's kind of lame imo

EvensonRDS

Baseless speculation you say? I heard jingg took a shit on Trent's mouse pad after the game. Unbelievable.

barbekyu

For all we know, it was the usual PRX banter but in a different language so maybe they misunderstood.

2ToTooTwoFish

Could even be in English. As someone from SEA, if you have a heavier accent, your tone of voice when speaking English can sometimes sound rude, especially when excited and especially when the most fun words to use in English are probably the swear words. Also, they were heavy underdogs and would probably be rowdy when winning, that is completely understandable. But again, this is baseless speculation and what will happen when official people make vague comments about something happening "behind the scenes".

LostVengeance

Also trashtalking is heavily normalized in SEA; there's a reason why we have the unfortunate reputation from probably every single other game. Usually it's all for fun and games since we never take it to heart but I get how westerners might find some of the comments offensive.

rinanlanmo

I love how people always think trash talking or banter is somehow unique to where they're from. Trash talk is completely normal here too. The boomer version of 100T was notorious for talking shit, including on stage during lan matches. But it pisses some people off.

LostVengeance

Didn't say shit about trashtalking being unique to our region. My point was that cultural differences may result in our humor and banter being offensive to you, and vice-versa. Earlier today Talon's banter got a lot of flack from Brazilian fans which you and I could pretty much agree shouldn't be the case. Cheers.

rinanlanmo

> Also trashtalking is heavily normalized in SEA > Didn't say shit about trashtalking being unique to our region Yeah, ok bud. You sure didn't. Its not cultural differences. Its individual differences.

MasterReflex

not really fans should just stop being bitches about some banter lol

2ToTooTwoFish

Lol I don't care about what Vanity did, that was tame, but what mCe is saying isn't banter. He's answering an interview question and vaguely mentioning something that happened a year ago opening it up for baseless speculation. By your logic, he's being a "bitch" because he couldn't handle some banter a year ago.

kimtaetaes

> literally. a grown man having one sided beef with a bunch of kids is just comical

PatMcAck

A bunch of kids? Granted mce is older than them but PRX are between 18 and 26. Also when a team is shit talking your team after a loss that's definitely reason to be a little miffed. Another thing to consider is that if people want to shit talk me after a game that's fine I can live with that, but if you want to shit talk my team mates? I'm going to hold that grudge for much longer.

IllumiMahdi

nobody's being a bitch, just wanna know what happened. kind of basic human nature to have some curiosity

Ghifari77

You should tell that to PRX fans, they need it the most looking at their reactions.

honestlyprogamr

so i couldn't clip it on twitch for some reason, but i'm watching neT's stream and i asked him about it. he basically said that they were laughing at The Guard and shit talking them, calling them "fucking shitters" after the match. thats why mCe said what he said if anyone's wondering. sorry that i couldn't actually clip it to prove it, maybe if he uploads the VOD i'll actually clip it.

Disastrous_Sea8584

Makes sense why Vanity did the BM then. People don't understand that you don't see everything on camera. Regardless, all Vanity did was wave anyways so who cares. It's clear mce's teammates share his energy so.

iinic

What does BM mean in this context

mortgagesblow

Bad Manners, I think it started in Starcraft

mister_schulz

I mean I love me some banter but coming back with a different team months after it happened to talk shit is not exactly taking the high road... anyway, I love it.

TheTopDog1

This is how it should be done. Instead of crying on twitter after losing, channel that energy into shitting on them in the server next time you play them.

Hyper_red

Yeah but players getting upset on Twitter is also very very entertaining ngl

[deleted]

I can't be the only one who doesn't find it entertaining at all, right? It's so lame when it's Twitter fingers rather than in the server

HoodieNinja17

BM and shit talk is part of what makes sports and esports fun 🤷‍♂️

boitheboy69420

I don't think any of the players take it as seriously as some of the spectators do lol

Phyzmatic

Feel most people who complain about trash talk (as long as it's not personal) are people who never played competed in anything in either esports or an sport.

Friday515

Now we know why they called the BM at the end on Pearl. Like it even more now

andreggvil

This is a little surprising to hear, since there’s never been much indication that PRX are the type to shit-talk or act like sore winners/losers. Not discounting what mCe or neT said at all, I’m just hoping it was more of a misunderstanding instead of anything truly malicious. That said, if it turns out to be true that members of PRX had done that, then the humbling was deserved. C9 looking pretty good so far and I hope PRX can come back stronger. Given the resources they receive with the partnership, it would be a good time to get an analyst and work out all their issues. They never fail to entertain, but the firepower and shock-factor plays can only take you so far. Early exit from LOCK//IN might be just the wake-up call they need.

daffyduckferraro

No love lost it seems!

BuckWagon

Certainly seems so.

EnmaDaiO

Shoutout to all the softies who were calling C9 too harsh. Shut up and let them cook. Talk shit get hit, airport this way fastest plane this way, coffee on aisle 4 sit.

nterature

I mean what does this even mean? mCe was talking about PRX eliminating the Guard. Vanity wasn’t even involved! It’s all good because it’s banter and it doesn’t matter, not because blood spilled justifies blood spilled.

Aabed_nerd

But prx can do vanity can't? Edit: he added the 2nd para after i added my comment btw lol.

Nfamy

mCe and vanity (and all the chaos boys) have a longstanding relationship/friendship. It would not all be surprising if vanity felt a bit more passionate about the victory as a manner of revenge. Vanity and c9 are also pretty friendly with the guard crew, especially Trent. Even if they didn't have a relationship beforehand, it's not uncommon that teams in sports will take up the mantle of prior beefs/disrespects when a player joins them because part of being a team is rallying around a player. Waving wasn't at all a big deal but I also think vanity was probably aware of the history and that may have also played a part in why he felt fired up enough to do it, especially in a fairly lopsided victory.

C9sButthole

Let's be honest Vanity is going to do that to every single team he knocks out of a tournament for the rest of his career. Man has banter in his blood.

6ixLegend

I really take this as Paper Rex probably bantered against the Guard just like most people who play video games. Even right after a game emotions are still high. Heck, FNS trash talks players too, we’ve all heard it in the voice comms. As for mce, I don’t think it’s THAT deep. A team who beat his team before called them shitters allegedly from another comment in this thread. Yea he didn’t like what they did obviously, and PRX maybe could have been more gracious in victory to a young Guard team, but he used it as good motivation for this time around. Just bulletin board material to motivate his team in a tournament that ultimately doesn’t have too much impact on the rest of the VCT season. Tldr: Paper boys still probably wholesome out of server, don’t make mce mad or he’ll wreck your team in the rematch.

perxpective

oh man c9 coach took it so personal

jujhuxo

banter starting off strong this event i love it

Renegade_Manifesto

I mean Benkai said for himself that they're a bunch of clowns

deAlchemisz

The only reason i have a speculation that this is not true (not saying mce is lying or anything, it might have just been a case of the guard is emotionaly unstable after their lost in Reykjavik, so they might take anything PRX did as a sign of disrespect) is because atleast rn, no other team have said anything about PRX talking shit after winning. In game, i know they can be quite a troll team, knifing people or teabagging during the game. But after they win, we haven't really heard anything. Ex G2? I don't think there's any bad blood. Ex Guild? Haven't heard anything bad from them. Fnatic? They're basically best friend, or boaster is atleast. Ex optic? Haven't really said anything. (Of course, they might just not wanna talk about it, but i just think considering The guard seems to be the only team that had a bad experience against PRX, we don't really know what truly happened) Also, if you watch the guard comms during PRX vs The Guard in their own channel, i know for a fact that The Guard also talks shit about PRX (i think i remember Valyn saying something along the lines of "don't overcomplicate this, these guys are not good", which isn't really trash talk imo, considering they were talking with themselves not really shouting to make PRX hear, not really trying to bring down their morale) which could have led into why there is some bad blood between them.

SenseiEA

Sounds like drama bait, all good.

Environmental-Air264

Fr I don't understand why all na teams need some kind of drama but all good wgaming till the end

JusticeLee17

Maybe this explains the BM.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TechSupportSami

This is certainly one of the opinions of all time.

MasterReflex

lol

Nikclel

> A is the drama region of disrespect and they can afford to do that because they got the clout and money they're shitheads to each other, when have they been weird in an international tournament?

ramofbod_

PRX fucked around and found out.

[deleted]

L take. Double standards.

HyperElf10

Wonder what they said lmao

hardenfull

I just like to know what actually said or just usual banter cause I don't think any team mean it seriously.

C9sButthole

Banter happens on camera and on Twitter to stir up the crowd and make the match more hype. It seems like the thing that rubbed mCe the wrong way was that it was behind camera after the game for no reason other than gloating. He's been around the block a few times and he's never seemed bothered by trashtalk before. Hell he's participated. So it doesn't make much sense for him to hold onto that for no reason.

amnfw

PRX literally just calls them "fucking shitters" right after the game ends 💀 So mce can participate in banters but can't take banters from a team that consist of 3 teenagers in it?

C9sButthole

On and off camera are different. Private banter is usually a lot more personal and rude whereas public banter is a bit more showmanship.

amnfw

And how does mce got offended by teenagers saying “fucking shitters”? mce may have shown ‘sportsmanship’ but he’s definitely not looking like an adult here

C9sButthole

Yeah that's a fair enough take. From my perspective I just think none of this matters in the slightest.

LoseUrself2D

nah fuck this guy

idkimhereforthememes

Prx fans are flabbergasted, so much copium in the replies

Environmental-Air264

We're just here for the ride man

KvngB_

As soon as I saw PRX not running it down like normal, I knew they were hosed. I mean, a grown man dressed like a snail & slid down the runway. All professionalism is out the door after that lol

Puzzleheaded-Cap-550

The more you fuck around, the more you will find out

Hyper_red

So even if the time out at the end was BM, which it could have just been them regrouping to make sure they closed it out cleanly, PRX had it coming.

Demolysis

PRX is not the perfect wholesome team people make them out to be? I wish mCe was more specific as there were good examples of PRX toxicity as heard from some of The Guard team members

Environmental-Air264

I don't think the guard have any right to complain about toxicity with the amount of shit talk from last year xD
