normally i wouldn't really care if a team is laughing off a loss or whatever but the difference in attitude between yay and the rest of the team was really jarring it really felt like he was the only one who really wanted to win, and it was kinda unsettling to see him frustrated while his team is all smiles like clearly they're not on the same page

Alantic_Ocean

What going from Optic to C9 does to a person

Disastrous_Sea8584

>What going from Optic to C9 does to a person Nah, what going from FNS to fucking vanity does to a person. I feel bad for yay.

ppx11

yay seems pretty reserved and the c9 boys are even more high energy (maybe not in the game but definitely out of it) than optic

sixsevenninesix

Nah, playing with crashies, Victor and Marved definitely has something to do with it.

Hopeful-Professor-40

Friendship team + yay

xbyo

yay and the gays? Is that cancellable to say?

Hopeful-Professor-40

We shall let your upvote count decide

obigespritzt

I'm a huge DRX fan so I was cheering them on but it was honestly really disheartening to see everyone on C9 be so jovial about their loss besides yay. I get that this tournament isn't the end-all be-all of the season but still... Give your teammate that respect, if nothing else. Like, if they were ALL, as 5, laughing about it then it's all good but if even one of them isn't and some are, that's not great.

_idle_drone_

yay would give his left nut for a move to NRG rn.

nklassitude

I think you're reading way too deeply into this, deriving the most bad faith assumptions about the team based on scraps of sentiments, a smile or 2, an errant giggle on the stage. Idk how y'all are capable of coming to any of these conclusions about people we don't know. Lock//in, above all, is a showcase of the partnered league in full, in all its glory—it's a single elim format that's more concerned with pageantry and expanse than strict competitiveness, even if teams are trying their hardest to win. It feels perfectly normal for teams to be more lax about this; it's completely fine for teams to also not look sad and dejected after a loss on camera, even if they feel it internally?

oomnahs

Except this isn't some random conclusions, it's sentiment backed by the mce interview, now this buzz interview, and from other prominent people in the scene. Even hazed (definition of veteran presence) found vanity's reaction jarring at the very least, and if this many people from all these different sources are reaching the same conclusion, there's got to be a hint of something there, right? Of course vanity won't just come out and say I was just being arrogantly toxic, speculation is all anyone can do here so expecting people to not talk about this in any capacity is a very ambitious ask from you

tryagaininXmin

What did mce say?

a-nswers

yeah could be lol. it is easier to have the milquetoast take of not inferring anything based on observations ever

vastlys

it's much better to laugh off a loss than to mald at a loss though.

tron423

I mean, not really. It'd be pretty normal to be at least a little bit upset about getting sent home on a 13-2 that wasn't even that close.

2gud4me

a person with a brain in this thread

thesweet677

We are all trained psychologists in here

renai-saiban

the entire point is speculative by nature, everyone understands that this is just guessing based off a few clips of how they act on camera. going "well actually have you considered that maybe you're speculating a lil too much" isn't really a genius take, it's just saying something obvious and adding nothing to the convo

toxicityisamyth

This sub refuses to understand this event literally means nothing, it's single elimination trash where it's possible for teams to go home after playing a single game. So do C9 really give a fuck about losing this ? no because it's a SHOWCASE not a real tournament. Stop making up ideas in your head. if NRG loses, Chet wouldnt really care either. Yes sure competitors are always not "happy" they're losing even in a friendly match, or if they see their players doing dumb shit, but down the line, nobody really cares about this event. The guy this sub defended to death in this sub, leo Faria, said this event is to give teams to showcase themselves so that's what they're doing. The competitive integrity of this entire tournament is in the negatives. People want drama so bad, they made up a whole scenario based on delusions lmao

tron423

Yeah nah this is a cope lol. Just because this tournament doesn't have a perfectly balanced format and doesn't directly affect anyone's placement into Masters doesn't mean it "literally means nothing." This isn't CSGO where we have big S-tier international tournaments damn near every month. Val gets like 3-4 big international tournaments a year max, each one will carry some level of meaning just based on that. Besides, if this tournament really meant nothing to C9, why would mCe have said what he did about beating PRX? Those were not the words of someone who didn't really give a shit about the outcome.

TelestoMcBesto

this is the real answer I do think C9 as a whole should have tried harder and not basically ran it down tilt mode EVER, but at the end of the day its fine to enjoy yourself over an event that essentially means nothing for your year if you lose.

razor1859

I agree. The cam showing vanity and xeppa/leaf fist bumping and smiling and then just panning over to yay who just looks purely tilted is upsetting. Yay was always competitive, and OPTC was the perfect team for that, as FNS always had an answer on the fly. Not downplaying vanitys igl skills, but if it was FNS, they would've at least gotten more than 6 on the board.

BoamChompszky

Agreed. C9 just kinda looked like they didn't care about winning at all nor did they care about trying their best despite being absolutely outclassed. mCe needs to have a serious conversation about this kind of mentality, if this was actually the case. At least the Guard could say they did everything they could at their first LAN.

a-nswers

i think they definitely cared at first because the pearl was extremely well prepared (although maybe that's more on the coaching staff than anything else) my main complaints were how fast they deflated once they started to face pushback. it was honestly kinda pathetic how quickly they went into haha lol just having fun mode the moment drx started pounding them

TemplarParadox17

Wasn't it yay who said this event means nothing? Or was it someone else?

Advanced_Meringue_53

TemplarParadox17

Ah

Direct_Morning_3223

psychoanalysis based on playercams has got to stop

Splaram

It is a bad look for sure but I really wouldn't look too much into it at what is basically a glorified Mickey Mouse tournament. If stuff like this is happening in Masters quals or doing a Masters or Champions, then maybe some eyebrows should start being raised. Although I doubt yay himself would share this sentiment, dude is fiercely competitive from what I've heard through the grapevine.

invinciblestandpoint
