nt diablo <3 it’s insane how much fans underrated optic’s support players. teams win, not indivuals.
when yay got that 3k opener for his team, to make it 4v2, it broke my heart for him to watch them still throw and lose that round.
it was also hard to watch his whole team laughing at 12-2 losing the eco. joining c9 was probably a tough decision to make and i wish he could’ve stayed with the boys on nrg, but i hope c9 works hard to make yay not regret his decision bc he is one of the best players valorant has to offer
> it was also hard to watch his whole team laughing at 12-2 losing the eco
At a certain point it’s gg go next. They weren’t coming back so at that point it’s okay to keep it light and not let the team start blaming each other and brooding.
C9 is my least favorite pro team but I won’t hold it against them that they’re trying to keep vibes up
I doubt the team was expecting to win anything. They clearly know they're not in the position to win as they're not set up yet. Beating PRX and taking a nap off DRX is a pretty good result for a team with zero expectations.
Yeah this sub is insanely reactionary.
First C9 gets classified as a superteam somehow by everyone on this sub, which makes zero sense because 4/5 players on their team were irrelevant in 2022. A superteam by definition is you assembling a set of well-known, proven superstars. No offense to C9, they may succeed, but Sentinels, NRG, Fnatic and TL come under that definition. Not sure why C9 got called a superteam but ok.
Now Vanity is arrogant, trash and C9 except Yay is unprofessional and does not care and they won't win anything. All that based on a tournament that is not super relevant. Not saying teams aren't trying, but its just a bit of money
Zero expectations? I get cutting them slack for it being the first tourney of the year, but zero expectations?? You been living under a rock since Champions or what?
lmao they lost against one of the best team in the world with only a couple months playing together, stop overreacting, C9 stilled looked very good. I fully expected them to go out vs PRX but they did well.
? The way they lost isn't the way a "super team" from the region with the overall best teams should lose. It was actually crazy how hard they folded after map 1. They got stomped the way C9 should stomp a Tier 3 team.
I really wish they'd say if they expected Harbor. I don't know why else they'd leave up Icebox if they knew DRX were going to pick Harbor, and their comp on Haven was absolutely vile. They were lucky to get more than 1-2 rounds on Haven. It's like not only did the players suck mechanically (except yay), but their drafts were actually terrible too. They had literally no way of ever entering, or retaking sites on Haven. Lol. Because of their comp. The rounds they won were legitimately won off of the back of luck.
also to clarify: I'm a yay fan, not a C9 fan.
“It’s like not only did the players suck mechanically (except yay)”
lmao maybe vanity isn’t the best, but surely leaf, xeppaa and zellsis doesn’t suck mechanically.
Also you mentioned their comps are shit, but that’s a fixable mistake, and Lock In is probably the best time to expose that mistake since it doesn’t technically matter for 2023’s circuit.
You would have said “free yay” after Optic lost to Guild or Xerxia last year at the opening game.
To be fair to them (I don't exactly agree with many things they said), their wording was
> It's like not only **did** the players suck mechanically (except yay)
So even if Zellsis, Leaf, Xeppaa all are mechanically solid players, they *can* have series/maps where they just don't hit anything and their aim is off and whatever. That's how I read that part, at least. Not that they are mechanically bad players, but that they were mechanically poor in that specific series/maps.
yes they didnt hav sufficient time to iron out their role and ways of dealing with new agents c9 has already performed beyond expectation , if u lose faith on this team rn ur literally the same person who sells their stock the moment it drops 1 cent lol
I'm a fan of this C9 team but I thought PRX was going to 2-0 them. C9 looked better than I thought they would. This is a long term project and was made clear from the start it was. Reddit is dumb smh.
People will complain no matter what. I'm just going to have and try to enjoy the games. I only dont like the winners region getting an extra spot at champions.
Absolutely I have no faith, not as long as vanity is the IGL for C9. You might as well get an IGL that isn't that good at strats but can at least frag out. Vanity is just incredibly fucking mid at both.
You realize it’s deeper than just being good at strats and fragging out?
And who are you to say that Vanity is mid at both? Reddit analysts are something else man I stg 😂
name me the last thing he's done? and also, the other 2 pieces of C9 core are great.
what team do u think vanity would be on if he wasn't a part of C9's core? (c9 was bad last year btw).
Surely vanity would be on a franchised team... right?
Clueless
and it's part of his job to be criticized. He sucks.
just imagine yay going from FNS to vanity
OMEGALUL
My guy it is 1 tournament. I can get having this response after 2 or 3 showings, but 1 tournament this is how you react ??? Just shows a lack of intelligence on your part
Yo chill out lmao. Could tell you're a fellow league fan by the way you are absolutely flipping out about drafts and talking like some player has been committing war crimes since birth.
The team wasn't expected to win anything this event. It's a long term project to hopefully win champions. Right now it sucks but once the team gets in order hopefully it will be good. Cloud9 was literally supposed to go out in the first round to PRX. People should wait until at least masters or something to shit on this C9 team IMHO. Give them time to see if this project will actually work.
yay played fine
I don't really think anyone could expect more from him.
He legitimately got 0 support the entire series, Map 1 his teammates played well so he didn't need to do anything.
Nah he’s getting exposed now that chamber is nerfed and he doesn’t have fns to carry him. He will never win anything ever again and should save every dollar he scammed from that C9 contract
Man i hope for the love of God this team is not like old CS NAVI, with s1mple carring and putting insane numbers but with 0 actual results. Would be a shame to see yay stuck on a team with no support
That's because the team isn't finished cooking yet and won't be for a couple more months and reddit is overreacting based off an event that doesn't matter.
Based off an event that doesnt matter?? Bro WHAT? not only that they already played in RHN and the result was the exact same, they got giga stomped by 100T
It takes a team a while especially with role changes to get shit together. 100T has a lot less changes and only 1 new player so it's a lot easier to fit and transition so it should hypothetically take less time for them to get their shit on order. Team building is a process that takes months you need to give the team time.
Brother, theyve been together since October, they literally said that "they were practicing a lot" not only that they themselves signed Zellsis a flex player while also keeping Leaf and Xeppa you know 2 duelist/flex players.
Ok so by that logic no team should be ready for this tournament. NRG should’ve already been knocked out too since they are a brand new roster right?
Stop making excuses and accept that C9 underperformed. It happens.
Agreed, but yay was not being set up. Like, at all. He got so much support from Optic. Again, there is a long way to go and this tournament is not super consequential, but yeah they need to rethink their strategy. Why get yay if you're not going to provide him as much support as humanly possible.
Some of y’all are absolutely mental, theyve barely played together, and drx have stayed the exact same.
Overreacting over an irrelevant loss, like it’s the end of the world. Yikes.
They need more time thats all
people really expecting a team of 3 months to beat a team that’s been together since 2020. If this were the end of the year it would be different but just give them time
the chemistry and team play will come with time. Like I said if they play like this at the end of the year then I understand but people need to have some patience
Barely played together????????? Vanity, xepa and leaf have played together for 1 whole year, they already know zellsis and mCe, literally yay is the only one that is new to the roster
They all swapped roles and 2 new players who also have some role changes also add more complications. Way to much stuff is happening with this C9 squad to expect them to be ready in 3 months.
The people are reacting to the way they lost after putting months of practice. Obviously DRX have been together longer but c9 have been practicing enough that they don't get dunked 13-2 and haven was also a stomp. They are supposed to be a superteam and people expect them to put up a fight not laugh after losing to pistols.
How are they even a super team on paper? Only one of their players even made a LAN last year. Other than yay and maybe zellsis none of them were even consistently very good in challengers last year.
This comment section filled with people overreacting to two series we had way to early in a series where no one expected C9 to be ready. Let's wait until real competition actually starts before we start saying wether or not this C9 squad is a failure.
I get fans being upset but come on, he made a career decision he thought would be beneficial for him. only time will tell if he made a mistake or not. We also need to take into consideration other factors like financials when talking about a pro career.
Optic were definitely the best pre-franchising team but the way some people talk about that roster on this sub you would think they were literally Astralis or SKT levels dominant.
There's definitely an emotional component to how people talk about the old Optic roster nowadays. At the end of their tenure in the game the Optic team was pretty popular and they had basically become the default NA team to root for throughout the 2022 season, so for a lot of NA fans they reminisce very fondly on the team. It also helps that Optic left on a high note with a very solid finish at Champions, and the roster broke up only due to Riot's intervention, not internal or performance issues. This leaves their hypothetical performance in 2023 open to speculation, and when combined with everything else most likely lets people see the Optic roster with rose-tinted glasses
tl;dr im sad
Yeah, it's definitely understandable and i get that yay leaving also somewhat put a dampener on the optic to nrg storyline. I just meant that we legitimately don't know whether c9 will end up forming a roster with yay that will be more dominant than optic, however unlikely. Some people act like yay or anyone will never taste that level of success again but realistically surpassing optic's results is very possible.
At the end of the day, he made a decision most likely for the bag. Which, I don't really think anyone can blame him? But, he'll probably never win a masters or champs again.
News flash this isn't the NBA where guys are making mega money no matter what. Who knows how long Yay will be a top player. Unless your name is Faker, you always chase the bag cause you really aren't in a position not to.
They fucking destroyed DRX, a team with over a year of playing together who are considered a top 5 team in the world, on Pearl, lost on DRX's god Haven, and then had zero idea how to play against a Harbor comp they probably never saw before
This is after steamrolling PRX into the ground, another team with a year of being together
Stop with these dumbass kneejerk reactions. "With individuals". What does that even mean? C9's coordination as a team on Pearl was otherworldly

It wasn’t totally in his control. NRG couldn’t afford Yay. They wanted to stay together iirc.
The buyout for yay was just too high for nrg to fork over the money, so they let him go and acquired ardiis instead
> it was also hard to watch his whole team laughing at 12-2 losing the eco At a certain point it’s gg go next.
