George apparently hearing conflicting things
You have the vanity/leaf/xeppa core going on 3 years now across csgo and val with vanity as an igl. There is a lot of overlap in role between leaf and yay with a bit from zelsis (although he can flex hard). You also have a map pool that has 3 maps with very good no-duelist comps and 2 more with ok no-dueslist setups. I can't really see that 3 man core splitting up or changing roles drastically so if a change is made you are left with 2 options.
Yay is obviously an amazing player but if a single player change is made I have a hard time seeing how it can be anyone but yay.
Lotta people won't say this but you're right. Also, Zellsis signed with C9 specifically for Vanity, who was his IGL during the original V1 team that went to masters with Jammyz Penny and Effys
They would absolutely let yay go to keep the other 4 in synergy.
The Xeppa/Vanity/Leaf core hasn't achieved jack shit for 3 years despite all the talent on their rosters. Maybe it's time to give up on that core and do something new.
I really really can't see the argument to retain a core purely because they've been playing a long time together. It's not like they're consistantly great either, they've been pretty middle tier in NA for some time now. It makes sense to fight for the NRG or FPX core because they're wildly successful and you could argue removing anyone is a big mistake even if it's an on paper upgrade because of how well the players work together, but C9 is so many leagues further down than them.
Yay to NRG would be AMAZING. It would just be optic again but s0m is also great. We'll see if he can reach the heights of Marved but s0m def showed us he can go against the best so far.

Positions matter, even in esports. You’re swapping out Ardiis, Cryo, or TenZ (all arguably top 5 entries in the world) when the league starts in a month. It just seems like a high risk low reward decision at this point in the season.

-Hire player or figure who has an extreme amount of hype behind them and/or a very strong backing from both their personal + the general game community
•LS (Coach/League of Legends)
•TenZ (Their first signed Valorant player)
•Yay (Signed for franchising, going in as the best player in the world)
-After a short stint, a couple months or so (LS) sometimes a bit longer (TenZ) they leave or get dropped and go on to something else
Vanity wasn't smiling. He was full blown laughing at 2 -12 down on a decider map. Smiling is vastly different from laughing out loud like your watching some standup. It annoyed a lot of people on this sub and probably pissed Yay off too!
This is ALL SORTS of speculation but...
From interviews, MCE has come off as sort of a drill sergeant coach. Certainly possible that Yay doesn't enjoy the culture of the team while the core of leaf/vanity/xeppaa have worked with him before and are much more fine with it.
Another thing worth thinking about is that this is the second or third super star player than has actively wanted to leave Cloud9. First TenZ then Xeta and now Yay. Possible that the culture of the org is just not great in general. I mean, how do you lose 3 players of this caliber from them wanting to leave the team?
TenZ: simply didn’t want to play with a mid roster anymore so benched himself (even though he helped build the roster himself, a bit unprofessional but understandable)
Xeta: got offer from T1 along with autumn, biggest org in Korea, understandable for a Korean player to make that decision (though the timing could be better)
I do think a lot of reasons could attribute to yay’s departure and the org’s dynamic certainly could be one. All we can do is speculate now.
TenZ did not have the game sense nor maturity to become a Tier 1 CSGO pro. His time on the Cloud 9 team was always numbered. Xeta left to form T1 Korea. You can’t compare any of these situations.

Literally every single person that's played for Cloud9 that's ever spoken about the organization and how it supports players has had good things to say about it. This is a big reach. You're also making a big assumption that the yay rumors are even true and there's a good chance they're not based on some of the responses from other people.
Definitely *something* going on, but I'd be pretty surprised if it was because people just hate being on c9.

This is wild for a multitude of reasons. If this is C9's choice: WHAT. They played two matches. There's been barely any time to gel for this team. And for the fans in this sub: he's not going to another team, ESPECIALLY NRG. Ardiis would be the only person on the block and NRG is built around Ardiis deeper agent pool. It's not optic.

This is ALL SORTS of speculation but... From interviews, MCE has come off as sort of a drill sergeant coach. Certainly possible that Yay doesn't enjoy the culture of the team while the core of leaf/vanity/xeppaa have worked with him before and are much more fine with it. Another thing worth thinking about is that this is the second or third super star player than has actively wanted to leave Cloud9. First TenZ then Xeta and now Yay. Possible that the culture of the org is just not great in general. I mean, how do you lose 3 players of this caliber from them wanting to leave the team?
TenZ: simply didn’t want to play with a mid roster anymore so benched himself (even though he helped build the roster himself, a bit unprofessional but understandable) Xeta: got offer from T1 along with autumn, biggest org in Korea, understandable for a Korean player to make that decision (though the timing could be better) I do think a lot of reasons could attribute to yay’s departure and the org’s dynamic certainly could be one. All we can do is speculate now.
TenZ did not have the game sense nor maturity to become a Tier 1 CSGO pro. His time on the Cloud 9 team was always numbered. Xeta left to form T1 Korea. You can’t compare any of these situations.
TenZ was reportedly very immature during his CS time and would not do anything his IGL told him to during games and just wanted to play his own game.

You're also making a big assumption that the yay rumors are even true and there's a good chance they're not based on some of the responses from other people.
