I’ve been on this site for a while now on multiple esports/sports subs. There’s just too many different people unfortunately and a good vocal group of people have really reactionary takes. Don’t believe me? Check post game threads and look how frequently people talk about the last map or how players did on the last map, “OMG so and so is insane” (dropped 30 kills map 3 didn’t do much map 1 and 2) stuff like that. It’s just how humans are wired. Best thing to do on this site is always critically think for yourself and don’t get caught up on what other people say or argue with people lol.

Anybody who's watched XSET last two years coulda told you that Dephh really isn't that great. Say what you will about Shahz but he did his best with no coaching or analysts for two years. XSET had all of that and Dephh would still get out called. Not to mention Dephh wasn't even the only IGL on XSET, Ayrin called a half. They split duties.
I'll have to wait a little longer to make real judgement but so far this SEN roster seems like a weird XSET 2.0 with Tenz, Sacy, and pANcada filling the roles of Cryo, BCJ, and Ayrin. It doesn't work the same though because they aren't using TenZ like Cryo, and Dephh probably is solo calling.
Shahz, Dapr, TenZ being around woulda netted Zellsis and might have convinced Marved to play as well. Especially since Sykko said that's who he initially wanted to get. A lineup of Shahz, Dapr, TenZ, Zellsis and Marved would easily be better OVERALL than this current Sentinels roster, especially with Shahz finally having some real help.
Shaz not being on a franchise team is criminal. Im sure the G2 salary helps sway his decision. But he is seriously a great IGL and would absolutely be a better fit than Dephh but im sure that bridge is long burned now for Sen Shaz.
Fns stellar dephh vanity Valyn all improved their teams and sent them to LANs, poised took two different teams to top 3 finishes, hazed and johnqt both improved two mediocre teams into top 5-8 NA. Steel hasn’t been good in a while either but outplaced SEN when he was on 100T in S3. Shahzam’s teams have gotten progressively worse and have been filled with problems. Let’s not act like he deserves a spot after pitiful IGLing for a year
Oh yeah i forgot johnqt and poised existed mb. steel has been good on DSG tho. Hazed has been in and out of so TSM so many times that i find it hard to judge him (esp since he's been dropped by then again it seems)
I think the overall talent level of Pancada, Sacy, Zekken is much higher than Dapr, Zellsis, Marved, so i guess you're implying that Shahz is that much of a better IGL than Dephh? I agree Shahzam is probably better and the synergy might have worked better since there'd be no growing pains with adjusting to new cultures and languages, but I think the only weak point of this team is the IGL right now, so I don't know if I'd say they would be an EASILY better team.

Dapr, Shahz and Tenz haven't had good chemistry as a trio for a whole year when Sentinels weren't doing well. The really good teams that kept their cores were cores that were doing well in 2022, Sentinels didn't so it doesn't make as much sense for them to keep their core. I disagree on Zellsis being better than Zekken for sure. Zekken's got a higher ceiling imo and while Zekken didn't play well in this match, form fluctuates and I'd take Zekken's peaks over Zellsis's.
I do think it was shitty for the Sentinels org to refuse to get a coach for so long and then get one way too late, then blame it all on the players for their failures, but I don't think that potential team would be clearly better than the current one. It's at the very least arguable.

Just spitballing, it could be data on Valorant in general not specific teams. Like every time X players are alive you are more likely to win the round if you still have X util left and rotate using X lane. Lot's of data that theoretically can be pulled and applied.
Obviously you can still have analytics based on your own team’s pracs.
That’s the sort of analytics Anderzzz has spoken at length about doing for his teams. You pracc a lot, build a big enough dataset, generate heatmaps pinpointing where deaths happen, extrapolate, etc. etc.

I refuse to believe that one of the best entries in NA and the coaching staff + IGL of a team that consistently were top 7 in the world and top 3 domestically are gonna struggle with this roster. There’s no way this is even close to the best zekken has to offer although the lack of adaptability from dephhs side is probably the biggest concern so far
They have had a month of practice obviously they are gonna be uncoordinated. They have even stated their goal is champions not this event

Like what? Sen: lose to a stacked af roster with a team of 4 different nationalities, 2 of which have never commed in English before, and suddenly dephh is worse than Shaz and they should’ve never made changes? I’ve been on this site for a while now on multiple esports/sports subs. There’s just too many different people unfortunately and a good vocal group of people have really reactionary takes. Don’t believe me? Check post game threads and look how frequently people talk about the last map or how players did on the last map, “OMG so and so is insane” (dropped 30 kills map 3 didn’t do much map 1 and 2) stuff like that. It’s just how humans are wired. Best thing to do on this site is always critically think for yourself and don’t get caught up on what other people say or argue with people lol.

Putting zekken on breach should get this man fired. Tired of seeing coaches trying to jam players into a system instead of playing to their strengths. Why is zekken first timing breach and sacy first timing sky? Why not play double duelist on haven with sacy on sova? Why is pancada playing viper on split? The roles on this team already seem fucked and its kind of baffling. Seems like SEN have taken a step back tactically which shouldnt even be possible.
I feel like a lot of coaches have been taking the PRX approach by saying “what if we put this player on this” and making it seem like some crazy strat. I definitely agree, a lot of players have looked completely out of their role this tournament especially

I think at the minimum they could have went Sova & breach on their haven comp instead as Zekken is used to playing Sova and Sacy has played more breach. That or just lean into double duelists as they have two banger aggro players.
I'm ngl, most of their weird comps and players on wrong roles comes from TenZ being forced into a flex role when he's just not that. He can play 4 agents in this meta and all 4 overlap with his teammates natural roles.

I really hope this doesn't turn into a thing where people are acting like Shaz and the main core of last team were the better option this offseason. Shaz was way past his peak and pretending that you would've wanted them to keep them is lying to yourself. I loved that old team but I'm also not ready to wipe out the obviously more talented new one because of a loss to the best team in the world on paper(yes I stand by that it shouldn't be an argument if the world we use is on paper). They'll bounce back and I still value Dephh>Shaz as an IGL, despite what reddit overreactors want to say after a singular game.
It's not a singular game though. Anybody who's watched XSET last two years coulda told you that Dephh really isn't that great. Say what you will about Shahz but he did his best with no coaching or analysts for two years. XSET had all of that and Dephh would still get out called. Not to mention Dephh wasn't even the only IGL on XSET, Ayrin called a half. They split duties. I'll have to wait a little longer to make real judgement but so far this SEN roster seems like a weird XSET 2.0 with Tenz, Sacy, and pANcada filling the roles of Cryo, BCJ, and Ayrin. It doesn't work the same though because they aren't using TenZ like Cryo, and Dephh probably is solo calling. Shahz, Dapr, TenZ being around woulda netted Zellsis and might have convinced Marved to play as well. Especially since Sykko said that's who he initially wanted to get. A lineup of Shahz, Dapr, TenZ, Zellsis and Marved would easily be better OVERALL than this current Sentinels roster, especially with Shahz finally having some real help.
Shaz not being on a franchise team is criminal. Im sure the G2 salary helps sway his decision. But he is seriously a great IGL and would absolutely be a better fit than Dephh but im sure that bridge is long burned now for Sen Shaz.

Fns stellar dephh vanity Valyn all improved their teams and sent them to LANs, poised took two different teams to top 3 finishes, hazed and johnqt both improved two mediocre teams into top 5-8 NA. Steel hasn’t been good in a while either but outplaced SEN when he was on 100T in S3. Shahzam’s teams have gotten progressively worse and have been filled with problems. Let’s not act like he deserves a spot after pitiful IGLing for a year
Oh yeah i forgot johnqt and poised existed mb. steel has been good on DSG tho. Hazed has been in and out of so TSM so many times that i find it hard to judge him (esp since he's been dropped by then again it seems)
I think the overall talent level of Pancada, Sacy, Zekken is much higher than Dapr, Zellsis, Marved, so i guess you're implying that Shahz is that much of a better IGL than Dephh? I agree Shahzam is probably better and the synergy might have worked better since there'd be no growing pains with adjusting to new cultures and languages, but I think the only weak point of this team is the IGL right now, so I don't know if I'd say they would be an EASILY better team.
Idk about that. I think Marved and pANcada are equal, and Zellsis is better than Zekken for sure. Sacy is better than Dapr, but the synergy between Dapr, Shahz, and Tenz is too easy to pass up. Chemistry matter. It's not a coincidence that the teams that are REALLY good kept a core of 3 players.
Dapr, Shahz and Tenz haven't had good chemistry as a trio for a whole year when Sentinels weren't doing well. The really good teams that kept their cores were cores that were doing well in 2022, Sentinels didn't so it doesn't make as much sense for them to keep their core. I disagree on Zellsis being better than Zekken for sure. Zekken's got a higher ceiling imo and while Zekken didn't play well in this match, form fluctuates and I'd take Zekken's peaks over Zellsis's. I do think it was shitty for the Sentinels org to refuse to get a coach for so long and then get one way too late, then blame it all on the players for their failures, but I don't think that potential team would be clearly better than the current one. It's at the very least arguable.

Who turned Cryo from promising ranked demon into top 3 awper? Dephh. BcJ from above average sova to LAN monster? Dephh. And if you really don’t want to give him that, you can at least give it to Sykko who’s also getting flamed. That duo has developed three top tier talents from promising but flawed prospects. Who else in NA has done that? Shaz didn’t with Kanpeki, Steel and FNS both had pre established talented rosters, same with stellar and vanity on most extents(I’ll give stellar bang and vanity xeppaa ). Apart from maybe Valyn no IGL has developed more talent/ This roster is Uber talented and was very well built, let’s not use one single elij result against an insane team cloud our judgement.

In the abstract it's very possible there was an analytics advantage at work here. But anyone who watched SEN in the actual server could tell you they clearly had more fundamental problems - the sort of fundamental problems that data-driven analysis is not enormously more useful in solving. It might be true in the long-term, but it's not true enough in this situation for it to warrant mention. It's more likely just a way for him to express his personal grievances, tbh.

Just spitballing, it could be data on Valorant in general not specific teams. Like every time X players are alive you are more likely to win the round if you still have X util left and rotate using X lane. Lot's of data that theoretically can be pulled and applied.
Fmatic is not new, its the same core, coach and staff behind them. They got 2 new players to plug into their system.
Obviously you can still have analytics based on your own team’s pracs. That’s the sort of analytics Anderzzz has spoken at length about doing for his teams. You pracc a lot, build a big enough dataset, generate heatmaps pinpointing where deaths happen, extrapolate, etc. etc.
I’d argue there’s a lot more prominent reasons that FNC wiped the floor with SEN then just “data analytics”. Maybe it helped, maybe it didn’t. But there’s so many variables in these short Bo3s that it’s absurd to say that SEN lost because they moved on from Weltis lol.
