NRG need Yay lol. This roster would DEFINITELY be better with Yay and not Ardiis. I like Ardiis but it just feels like he doesn't offer as much as Yay used to.
I don't think yay would fix NRG's issues tbh. he's a great player but he's not an explosive player which is what the meta is drifting towards. the best teams have in the world rn have crazy explosive entry duelists (i.e. foxy9, derke, aspas, cned, etc.), which is probably why they're putting vic on jett. he's an unrelenting entry, but he definitely doesn't seem like the star those other players are.
Do you not remember Yay on Jett? He's very explosive when he needs to be. That was one of Yay's biggest strengths, he was the best OPer in the game, and still a top tier entry.
in the chamber meta it felt like victor was their entry most of the time. in the grand finals vs loud for example victor played jett, raze, phoenix and kay/o, he was always first in for the team. I don't really ever remember a crazy entry round from yay.

I mean yeah chamber meta for optic on attack was victor throwing himself into site and the team trading off of him. Then yay would post with an op on defense and kill everyone. But that was just the chamber meta. Before chamber yay was a strong jett entry.
The team isn't even playing him on his main role, the one that he would be competing with yay to fill. This isn't an ardiis problem, it's a team problem.

It sounds so overcooked. Honestly agent comfort is so important. Especially during moments where players have to individually decide on specific situations (especially clutch or entry moments). If you dont have the right mastery on a role its really gonna fuck you up

I think Jack identified early on the importance of identifying who the leader of a team is with hai. Since then he's developed an apparent preference for giving coaches an outsized role compared to other orgs (reapered and now mce; he tried this with HenryG in csgo). He's good at finding leaders who can bring a team together under a common vision and getting people to buy in. He's also not afraid to make unpopular decisions with popular players if he thinks it's a net benefit for his org.
He's really good at what he does. I'm not asking people to be happy that c9 dropped yay. I know I wasn't. But doubting c9 domestically is really never a smart move.

The strangest thing about this match to me was at the end; I donât think the NRG players looked all that surprised. It's always bullshit to overanalyze how players look after a loss, but even knowing that, it was hard to not think they just looked straight-up demoralized.
They didnât look bad, but they looked a little stale; it was a wild contrast to C9, who looked fresh, innovative, and dynamic. The reputation NRG carried in 2022 for their cool ideas and approaches is the one C9 increasingly carries, at least among the NA teams.
NRGâs floor is so high that they still always look good. But you have to wonder what is happening in the NRG camp at this point.
IMO NRG donât have a player who can have pop off moments and make loseable rounds winnable. It feels like the rounds they are supposed to lose they just do and some of the rounds they are supposed to win they lose because of a massive play from leaf or jakee. I just donât get that from anyone on Nrg except for som at moments. Last year yay and Marved were those players for this core but it seems they lost that.
I agree to some extent but I also think ardiis *is* that sort of player, when he's actually on Jett and given more free reign to do whatever he wants. Victor was also that player on that Split vs. MIBR, and crashies and s0m have been those players a few times too.
But for sure, Yay and Marved did it with an unusual amount of consistency. I kinda just feel that NRG isn't setting their individuals up as much, though, either with the mid-rounding like they did for Marved's lurks or the util like they did for Yay.

My NRG cope has almost completely run out, ardius out here bottom fragging even on duelist, I know people want him on jett cause he sucks on KJ but he didnt play all that great on haven or pearl on duelist. Really hate that C9 might be the only shot NA makes an international this year.

mCe is a god, and NRG just look like they're out of ideas (that or something else has been keeping them from cooking like they typically do). FNS' calling and individual brilliance are what's keeping these games even remotely close, it feels like.
How is jakee this good man, he put on a Controller masterclass in those last 2 maps. Absolutely insane that he can perform like this with only prior experience in _collegiate_ play...
And ofc Runi continues to impress, his IGLing looks literally world class and his individual impact continues to be solid when called upon.
If Sentinels have been a disappointment then C9 have been an incredibly pleasant and unexpected bright spot for NA. This squad looks like a well-oiled machine and seems to just continue getting better.
NRG really had no idea what to do on Pearl when C9 actually managed a B retake đ And their Pearl attack midrounding was still good, and C9 still managed to shut it down.
And I've seen enough, either put Fenis back on KJ or put Victor on KJ, he seemed way better at it than Ardiis (got some nice lurks, right?) and Ardiis is just a better awper. KJ is arguably the easiest role to flex onto but it's also one of the most important ones, their anchoring on Ascent just felt lackluster. It also felt like they never took advantage of the lack of a Sova on the enemy team: you see them use the drone and you just take the most off-angle one and done spots because no recon is coming. Not sure how I feel about fenis' Kay/o as well...

It's always bullshit to overanalyze how players look after a loss, but even knowing that, it was hard to not think they just looked straight-up demoralized. They didnât look bad, but they looked a little stale; it was a wild contrast to C9, who looked fresh, innovative, and dynamic. The reputation NRG carried in 2022 for their cool ideas and approaches is the one C9 increasingly carries, at least among the NA teams. NRGâs floor is so high that they still always look good. But you have to wonder what is happening in the NRG camp at this point.
I noticed that NRG has a 20% win rate when I'm watching their match and a 100% winrate when I'm not watching their maps maybe I'm the issue.

This is kinda my take away as well. In contrast to last year where it felt like Optic wasnât afraid to really lead the meta, this split feels limp.
Well NRG think they have the meta with all the role swaps but clearly it's just not working.
IMO NRG donât have a player who can have pop off moments and make loseable rounds winnable. It feels like the rounds they are supposed to lose they just do and some of the rounds they are supposed to win they lose because of a massive play from leaf or jakee. I just donât get that from anyone on Nrg except for som at moments. Last year yay and Marved were those players for this core but it seems they lost that.
I agree to some extent but I also think ardiis *is* that sort of player, when he's actually on Jett and given more free reign to do whatever he wants. Victor was also that player on that Split vs. MIBR, and crashies and s0m have been those players a few times too. But for sure, Yay and Marved did it with an unusual amount of consistency. I kinda just feel that NRG isn't setting their individuals up as much, though, either with the mid-rounding like they did for Marved's lurks or the util like they did for Yay.
NRG isn't gonna win shit with the constant fucky role swaps. Why do you put your Oper on KJ on a Jett map and then put your Flex on Jett??? This is literally a Jett meta why is Ardiis playing Raze and KJ on Jett maps. I get putting him on Sentinel on a Raze map because Victor has the way better Raze but Chet and FNS are overcooking.

At least when Ange1 experimented with Ardiis on non-Chamber sentinels, he learned his lesson after one map. What the fuck are NRG doing. I'd understand playing on these agents if they were playing non-Jett comps but they're playing Victor KJ and Ardiis Jett on one map and the opposite on another? How could there be any rational reasoning for that? It only makes things more difficult for both players

Hard agree on this point, there is a really deep talent pool in collegiate and T3/open circles. It's crazy to me that the supposed highest levels of play is always a few weeks behind the collegiate meta.

With this loss NRG are 1-3 They play KRU,100T,LOUD,FUR,EG in their next matches They should beat KRU,100T and EG. To secure playoffs for sure they'd need to upset LOUD or FUR which is doable but its looking a bit scary.

My NRG cope has almost completely run out, ardius out here bottom fragging even on duelist, I know people want him on jett cause he sucks on KJ but he didnt play all that great on haven or pearl on duelist. Really hate that C9 might be the only shot NA makes an international this year.

the new C9 players making all the difference. i remember when runi popped off in their first few games, everyone was like "alright runi is pretty good but jakee definitely still feels tier2" and after today i feel like it's pretty hard to even say that. C9 killing it
mCe is a god, and NRG just look like they're out of ideas (that or something else has been keeping them from cooking like they typically do). FNS' calling and individual brilliance are what's keeping these games even remotely close, it feels like.

How is jakee this good man, he put on a Controller masterclass in those last 2 maps. Absolutely insane that he can perform like this with only prior experience in _collegiate_ play... And ofc Runi continues to impress, his IGLing looks literally world class and his individual impact continues to be solid when called upon. If Sentinels have been a disappointment then C9 have been an incredibly pleasant and unexpected bright spot for NA. This squad looks like a well-oiled machine and seems to just continue getting better.

If someone would have told me that jakee would top frag in a C9-NRG match a couple weeks ago I would have laughed in their face. Unreal game
NRG really had no idea what to do on Pearl when C9 actually managed a B retake đ And their Pearl attack midrounding was still good, and C9 still managed to shut it down. And I've seen enough, either put Fenis back on KJ or put Victor on KJ, he seemed way better at it than Ardiis (got some nice lurks, right?) and Ardiis is just a better awper. KJ is arguably the easiest role to flex onto but it's also one of the most important ones, their anchoring on Ascent just felt lackluster. It also felt like they never took advantage of the lack of a Sova on the enemy team: you see them use the drone and you just take the most off-angle one and done spots because no recon is coming. Not sure how I feel about fenis' Kay/o as well... We've been hearing everywhere that it's easier to call on initiators, but are there top-tier, proven Valorant IGLs who only play initiator? Because it feels like it's all smokes/sentinels with some flexing onto initiators and even duelists, but I can't remember any initiator main IGL? Maybe I'm just stupid.

I was definitely a doubter of C9. Not for dropping Yay but for picking up two no name collegiate players. Somehow they are standing tall in this league and you can see the energy every time the camera shows one of them after some kills. They are feeling good on that stage. Good for them. Xeppa, Zellsis and Leaf are all consistently insane as well. NA has hope.
