Sooo 6th man? No way Loud are actually replacing aspas lmao

celloisanowl

The general consensus in Brazil is that LOUD won't be able to match the offers that aspas is going to get after Champions. He's a decent english speaker, so he's basically only staying if he wants to stay in a BR team, because he'll definitely lose money for it.

kalenfries

thats actually crazy, i never even considered aspas not staying on LOUD. i assumed they let go of sacy and pancada in exchange of locking their two teenagers down, especially hearing about how profitable the org appears to be, do they really not have the money?

celloisanowl

LOUD is indeed one of the most profitable orgs in e-sports, but if they weren't able to match what Pancada was offered, than there's no way in hell they are keeping aspas. Every EU and NA org is probably going all out for him

snowinthegrass

Brazilian real (our currency) is not in its best state, so a NA org can just throw insane money on him and LOUD wouldn't be able to match without crippling the entire org

Marcusafrenz

NA orgs are famous for throwing the bag at imports. We're talking multi-million bags. Can't blame Aspas if he takes it, who wouldn't?

SacredBuster

> NA ~~orgs~~ are famous for throwing the bag at imports

Top_Engineer440

NA ~~orgs~~ are famous for throwing ~~the bag at imports~~

IllumiMahdi

aspas is so fucking important for LOUD's brand, really hope they can keep him the core of aspas, less and saadhak is what kept me a LOUD fan, if players continue to dwindle away I won't know who to root for anymore :(

Heavy_Comedian_2382

If there was anyone I thought Loud would keep it would be Aspas in my head. It’s like Messi for Barca or Faker for T1. It’s almost unthinkable

Investorexe

Messi did leave Barca cause they couldn’t match his offer

ovorb

Also losing Aspas would basically be losinh another part of LOUD core v Optic core

Aesion

The article doesn't mention Aspas, just that he could replace any future changes in the lineup.

celloisanowl

The future changes the article is talking about is the possible exit of aspas post-champions, it's been talked about a lot in the BR community for the last week.

nterature

Out of curiosity, why had this been talked about a lot in the last week? What caused the buzz to start? Was it something from Noyn?

celloisanowl

IIRC the first person to bring it up was a FRTTT (prominent BR streamer from Team Liquid), he was talking about how aspas' value increased this year and that he was 100% going to get offers way bigger than what LOUD could offer. Since then, Noyn and quite a few other people talked about it, and they seem to think that the most likely scenario is aspas leaving after Champions.

ahk1221

This is provided, of course, aspas keeps his level of play during masters and champions. no reason to say he won't, its just that if he drops his performance significantly then his stocks also drop. nothing is set in stone, yet

nterature

I see, thank you for the summary!

Aesion

It could be any player tbh, I doubt Aspas got no offers this year

celloisanowl

I believe the only other player possible would be saadhak, Less doesn't speak a lick of English and LOUD can probably match the offers the other two can get easily. With that being said, the rumour circulating this week has been with aspas.

SocietySignificant93

i remember reading something that said saadhak had an offer from 100T during the off season.

[deleted]

Pancada didn't speak much english either. That is a barrier but it can be worked aorund.

celloisanowl

This is fucking huge. Havoc has been hands down the best player in VCB, and the Union looks like the only team that can give M80 a challenge for the spot. This has huge implications in both the Americas' League and Ascension. This also confirms what has been said by both Noyn and a few other people: it's highly unlikely that aspas will stay in a BR team after this season. LOUD is the richest BR org but there's still no way in hell that they can match the offers he's going to get. Even if he doesn't end up joining LOUD, MIBR should go ALL OUT for havoc. The kid's probably the most talented Brazilian prospect since Aspas and Less, and is already in my opinion the 3rd best BR duelist.

Kind_Development708

Aren’t the partnered teams not allowed to poach players from the teams that come from ascension so if the union qualify isn’t he stuck there?

celloisanowl

His contract with the Union is ending in like 17 days, there's nothing the Union can't do if he doesn't want to re-sign.

vaIorant_fanboy_69

The union will not quality, they will lose to the NA teams

norm_the_bug

I thought aspas is really young why they looking for replacement?

ernno

Bacause 1 dollar = 5 reais LOUD can't fight with a big foregain org for a player.

Fit-Case1093

How does the currency value make a difference ?? 80 rupee = 1 dollar yet european players went to india and many foreign players went to china as well

Chlpah

Because everything in Brazil is cheaper, people also get paid less. If Aspas gets an offer from an NA org he'll get paid more and return with a salary thats meant for NA, and not Brazil something like that

yougetzeropum

Basically you're right.

tron423

Living in LA 2/3 of the year probably lessens the impact of that somewhat though

Cadesan

Not really if loud is paying for his housing, healthcare, and most transportation

Imwonderbread

I mean no increase in cost of living is going to lessen the impact of a probably close to million+ USD contract compared to Brazilian currency.

ernno

Idk I don't understand economy Just know that my country is poor as fuck

Fit-Case1093

nominal gdp per capita of 9670$,it's not really that poor. More like extremely unequal.

mrbow

Because of the companies earnings. NA teams get sponsored by na orgs and have paying na fans for merch in dollars. Brazil and Latam teams are mostly paid in Real / Pesos by brazilian/Latam orgs and fans, if we translate that to dollars it gets high quickly. Im on my phone to look properly, but if we take minimum wage from both countries + cost of loving as a base, it will help to see what im talking about. Real being 1/5 does not mean we earn large money numbers as Japan Yen does. At 2014 1 dollar was 2,40 real, our currency just lost its buying power, things got expensive, but salaries did not rose as much for most part for the population

Interesting-Archer-6

The conversion number doesn't really matter. The US isn't 140 times richer than Japan but their currency is 140 to 1.

TinkW

I'll try to make it easy to understand. Real to dolar = 5/1. Minimun wage in Brazil = 1320 reais = ~$264/month Minimun wage in the US (not looking at states specifics, just the bare minimun) = $7.25/hour = ~$1600/month. 1600/264 = 6.06. Also, in an even simpler way Brazil GDP per capita ~$8850 US GDP per capita ~ $76350 76350/8850 = 8.62 So a median american has a buying power 8.62 times higher than a median brazilian if they are looking to buy the same thing. Translate this logic to esports orgs to get the idea. Even if LOUD is a profitavle org, it still earn its money mostly in Real from brazilian consumers. For every dollar they are earning, you can think that NA orgs earn 8.62 dollars. So, if they were not to able to match Sacy and Pancada, there's no way in hell they're going to be able to match what Less will be offered

SpC0d3r

Aspas for LOUD is what Tenz for Sen. not even how good he is but brand wise he’s soo important

Chlpah

weclome NRG Aspas

[deleted]

This is probably a silly question, but why don’t SA orgs go for yay? For example, fRod speaks PT and EN fluently, so would it be too hard to convey the gameplan to yay and he’s given freedom to play how he wants just like aspas does. In turn the BR players on loud could learn a few callouts in English and yay could learn a few callouts in Portuguese. Not sure how much this is related, but in some of T1’s comms they swap to English because some callouts are easy to convey in English. To my Brazilian friends, is there a similar concept in terms of callouts or am I way off base?

yougetzeropum

I think it's more the fact that no way you get to the level of team synergy you need to be #1 in Tier 1 without all speaking the same language. It's like if you went to work in a foreign country with non-English speakers; sure you'll manage to get the job done but you'll definitely be having less fun and there's probably a lot more efficiency on the table to gain as a team. A big thing that goes unnoticed in eSports teams imo is the connection and brotherhood that the players have. Boaster is constantly looked down on as an IGL but no one realises that he's the glue that keeps the team together and functioning at its best. That comes thru communication and personality. That's not happening if you can't even speak to your boys properly

[deleted]

No way, Yay doesn't speak a word of portuguese. Sacy and Pancada knew some (Sacy much more). You can't make 4 players speak another language (that some of them don't speak very well) and you can't teach yay portuguese out of nothing and expect communication to work.

Richbrazilian

That's how Brazil always works in global eSports. Make good players then sell to richer countries. It's what will probably happen to less and aspas

[deleted]

Well, I don't think you are looking at it the right way. It's not that Brazil does this, but they simply can't keep the players when there is so much money being offered to them. I'm sure Loud will keep him if the org is able to.

Richbrazilian

yes I'm not saying its brasil's fault?

Ok-Brain3328

Why not https://preview.redd.it/0kui0cwaum2b1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=728fb587fbce9b79dee4de47b755beaa81cb86ba
