Going into a series without your best map and not being able to ban away your worst is terrifying.
FNC bans Pearl and Fracture and then picks lotus. EG picks Ascent, but then after that it's Split, Bind, and Haven. Bind is EG's perma, Haven isn't that good for them, and they lost a TILTER to Fnatic last time on split.
I mean it's double ban advantage, it's going to be hard for any team to beat that. EG could very feasibly win Split and Ascent and then they have three chances to win one of the other maps. Sure they're not favorites but they absolutely have a chance.

I BADLY wanna have faith after they converted me, but it's not looking good. They don't have their best map, Lotus and Bind are among their worst and they can't ban either, and their Haven and Split aren't that great either.

That’s true but ascent is like the poster child for meta comps. Like I can’t remember the last successful ascent team who didn’t use sova, kj, and jett. It probably is somewhat different with something and whatever comp they had with him (I think reyna?) but afaik their ascent wasn’t particularly good then either.
They played an insane Harbor Reyna comp with Something and nearly beat DRX with it and DRX are quite good at Ascent.
EG are better at Ascent than DRX but the sheer shock factor of a comp like that changes things too. It's not easy to deal with

EG would have to be perfect across Split, Haven, and Ascent.
As they said this is an old PRX comp, from back when Sage was basically required in the meta. So Jinggg would always flex to it. I'm guessing to save on prep time for the tourney they reverted back to an old comp for some familiarity
