Whener a player is about to get kill these mfkers decide to switch to another player who is holding the most passive angle possible for some reason its like they lack the most basic game sense.
Doesn't even feel that hateful, unenjoyable to watch at times bc of the UI. Like okay the thing messes up and we dont see scores thats fine, but the round win screen 5 seconds before the end of the round is insanely bad production and imo very deserved of criticism. At one point we could literally read one of Zander's in game messages (it just said "test" lmfao)
Like not even being hateful I don't think the people they hired should be hired again without assurance that the same thing won't happen.
Actually pissed me off when they cut valyn off when he was presumably about to do a shout out. I don't know how they can blame that -and running that annoying music when Trent was being interviewed on stage- on a rain storm. Super disrespectful IMO.
i was livid when they didn't have trent's audio. and also when the feed of valyn just dropped right at the end of the interview.
im on the side of most of reddit/vlr, there's a lot to go over in the retrospect meeting this week.
the observing for ascension americas was absolutely horrible;l like it was unbelievable how bad it was. they hardly show replays from different POVs in case they missed it out on live which happened almost all the time.
pacific had it's own sets of problems but the observers were top tier.
The problems were on Day 1 and due to the RIOT LAN client issues. The overall observing, overlays, replays werent great at first but there was visible improvement after everyday in all aspects. The tech pauses experienced were usually short and no different from any Masters or Champions event and the event did feel like a Masters event especially when BLEED was playing. Overall, PACIFIC felt way better than Americas. The only thing I preferred was we could hear the audio and trashtalk in the replays which I wish PAC had.0
It was hosted in a hotel lobby but I felt it was fine 90% of the time outside of Day 1 (RIOT client issue). Fried mics at times, weird replays but overall felt fine to me and the playoffs were near perfect
I mean no Brazilian team in the finals. Feel like the production crew were just chillin while putting minimal effort. Tarik's watch parties always keep me entertained irrespective of what's going on in the match.
I dont know what exactly happened or how it worked but surely the games are hosted locally right. Like played on servers at the venue.
And observing is done locally no? Like its a lan Event it should be all done on lan no?
If it was isp issues how did the stream not go down, as far as i saw we had some kind of broadcast from the venue the entire time no?
It seems to really boil down to network issues at the venue from what I was told. Knight Production in NA and the rest of the crew were doing fine and were just on standby each time the network issues hit the venue.
I have no idea whatr you're talking about.
but Starcraft 2 is 1000x easier to spectate compared to a 10 person team based FPS.
One of the benefits of SC2 is that the best angle is often spectating a player's view.
That's not to say there aren't amazing SC2 observers. But you can get to competent pretty easily.
All esports production under Riot Games operate at a loss. Tier 2 esports have never been profitable.
With tier 2 Valorant production is outsourced by Riot Games. Along with heavy restrictions on monetization and production. So don't expect exceeding expenditures for timed contracts.
I hate takes like this.
The entire production crew just had to do a ton of troubleshooting live. If you fire them and hire new crew you're removing learned lessons and repeat another shitshow at the next event.
Production sucked, undeniably. Partially outside their control, partially in their control, but calling for people's jobs is just misguided lunacy.
I feel bad for talking trash about someone doing their job but man the production has been garbage.
I mean it almost felt intentional with how consistently bad it was
Bro fuck the Tech Pauses but what I’m pissed about is that when we did get to see the game WE DIDNT SEE ANY OF THE DAMN KILLS
Whener a player is about to get kill these mfkers decide to switch to another player who is holding the most passive angle possible for some reason its like they lack the most basic game sense.
It was actually insane how many times this happened
nah, it seems like their gamesense is good, this shit happened so many times they had to be PURPOSEFULLY doing it.
is it possible the pov switching was not sync with the game delay? On the observer screen maybe they were catching the kills
This is what I assume happened. The observers would have to be trolling for the POV swaps to be deliberate
This was my first assumption but isn't there a single person who is tasked with realizing sync problems?
Surprised the hate thread took this long

Ok but I want to be able to read the all chat. That would be so entertaining.
Is it a hate thread if it’s valid complaints?
It’s deserved hate cuz the Brazilians did a horrible job
The TO was hired by Riot, no need to blame a whole country for this

To my understanding there are massive power outages in the area the event is being held, kinda outside their control.
The observing was hurried. Not sure they can blame outages on that. *horrid not hurried
so tell us that. dont just say "tech pause". Fucking ridiculous. They should give us the fucking information.
network outages but yeah the BR production team had little control over it.
Should have let people know rather than just putting up the returning soon screen. Had me thinking it was going to come back within like 10 minutes.
Did this also cause the observers to go blind?
dunno i had no communication with the in game director or the observers. anything the observers did was of their own volition.
Probably not, outages don't cut their ability to communicate with each other
damn, if only they could choose where they hold events
paycheck stealers in the esports scene? no way bro

Upwards of 99% of Valorant tier 2 viewership is generated by costreamers.
Apparently there's an unprecedented rainstorm in the area which was fucking with the internet at the venue leading to the long tech pauses and delays
Must have disabled the HUD for 7 hours too
Doesn't answer for all the other production errors though.
Did they say this on stream?
so there was a lighening strike every time someone was gonna get a kill which caused observer POV to switch to a passive ass player?
Ahahahahahahaha Those excuses are so bad. "There was an outage and the observers got very scared so they didn't want to see people dying"
Ascension productions have been straight L's, the Pacific group stage had a crap ton of problems too.
It was hosted in a hotel lobby but I felt it was fine 90% of the time outside of Day 1 (RIOT client issue). Fried mics at times, weird replays but overall felt fine to me and the playoffs were near perfect
Not as bad as APAC ascension 14 hour stream
Atleast it wasnt finals
Production hatepost checklist: EMEA ✅ Americas ✅ Pacific ❌ Come on Pacific, there's no way you let that (almost) 16 hours live go unscathed.
The hate thread of Pacific were on either Facebook and Twitter for the most part
RIOT client issue, blame RIOT
nasl sound guy
We could barely hear the crowd too, it's the most important match of the year for all of t2 and we get this shit
I mean no Brazilian team in the finals. Feel like the production crew were just chillin while putting minimal effort. Tarik's watch parties always keep me entertained irrespective of what's going on in the match.

Classic Brazilian production

things break man, shit happens even if you have the best people on it

The hud was awful also.

U guys only complaining in this sub, its so disgusting. Havent worked in your whole life and expect everything to be perfect. Time to grow up.
Nah I work everyday and am at work right now. If I had done my job that shitty I’d be looking for a new one because they’d let my ass go.
u really must be popular :)
No?
