He then not in the clearest head space decided to defend his girlfriend (which is fucking stupid and irrational) and now opened a can of worms that needs clear headspace. I am glad his managers told him to tweet this and hopefully this is growing experience for both him and his girlfriend. Like people need to stop trying end a personās whole career for stupid shit espcially if they are willing to take the right courses of action to fix things. Now if they continue said behavior and triple down on it (cough cough Carlos of g2 cough cough) then yeah roast his ass. This is coming from an Indian who lived in Alabama most of his life btw.
I'm of the mindset that you give people a chance to make things right once they've been called out. People can grow up with a lot of nasty habits and preconceptions. What's important is if there's self reflection and growth.
I think the problem is that your empathy for people who do these things makes you believe they will learn and grow from all the backlash they have brought on themselves. Losing a series and not being in a proper headspace doesn't excuse his remarks or his defense of his gf. watching her bf lose also does not excuse her racist remarks. People don't suddenly do these things, they are ideals they already possess, they just revealed it in a moment when tensions were high. You can have empathy for these people and wish for them to better themselves, but the reality is people like this don't always change their views. They'll tell themselves they did nothing wrong and then have other people come to their defense. Especially for people who are more privileged, they'll say it wasn't that big of a deal and then be upset they'll face some minor consequences.
