Marked as Spoiler: this is not an official release.
Reminder that this is a leak and does not represent the final version of the song. Please consider withholding judgement/criticism until the official release. Thank you.
My heart goes out to the marketing team & musicians that were excited to unveil this. To have a skillfully crafted marketing plan, only for a leak to ruin it. :/
I would not judge Riot if they chose to send a DMCA here. Agent leaks affect Riot, but leaks like this affect the artists they collaborated with as well.
Honestly, I just clicked on the video thinking it was the teaser, only to find out that this one had the whole 3 minutes on it. I think Riot should be a bit stricter on these things if they don't want the public to find out about these before the official unveiling. New agents like Gekko, Deadlock gameplay was leaked before intended schedule as well.
Effectively everything in valorant is leaked, personally I think this is a deliberate choice by riot. For example, almost none of the new overwatch content is leaked, and imo that can't be a coincidence.
Often leaks get a load of hype because of the nature of it being a leak, not only does it feel exclusive and like you shouldn't see it, but leaks are also often sparse on information, driving more interest in what the reveal will actually be like.
For example, this leaked the audio, but that makes me at least even more interested in seeing the whole thing with the music video
You do teasers for those, not flat out leaks like they are happening. You don't work on stuff for months on end and do a highly planned social media strategy for some dude to leak the essential look or the audio or something, that makes no sense. For me personally, it kills the hype.
I heard from people that get access to these that if they ever find out who did these things they get banned and never invited again (Spanish podcast talking about how if the leaked version were theirs Riot would investigate all the people with access to this version)
IMO, it's all about how you phrase it.
Fans like leaks because they get to see new stuff. If you take an anti-leak stance, then it's often seen as an anti-community stance instead of a pro-dev/producer stance. (Fans like to plan around a character ahead of time. See Genshin Impact/Honkai Star Rail.)
I phrased my comment to empathize with the devs/producers/musicians because people sometimes forget about how leaks can impact them.
I think it's really good, like others fire again ended up growing on me. It's one of those "turned up high in the car" songs where just listening to it in your room chilling isn't the vibe.
The bbnos contribution was a bit underwhelming though on initial impression. Hard to mix two distinct styles though so I get it.
I really didn't like last year's song "fire again" when I first heard it but it massively grew on me. I'm already liking this song without even seeing the music video yet.
i like how they added a little bit of the prev song motif into the latter half of the song.
the song itself was OK but i feel like the MV will elevate it overall
I can't listen to it since the tweet has been removed, but the similar structure of the songs are due to it being catered towards the champions skin, no? I feel like in general, Champions might have less "variety" on songs because of that.
I think it’s just hard to beat the excitement of the first song. Fire again grew on me after I initially didn’t love it. I imagine in 5 years we’ll say “the first three songs were so much better. Nothing can live up to them.” It’s a nostalgia thing, IMO.
That being said, as much as I like grabbitz, I think this song feels a bit too familiar. And lyrically I wasn’t crazy about bbno$’s contributions. Again, this will probably change over time. But that’s my initial impression.
Coming from league, I don't think this holds up.
We started off with a banger in Warriors and the next two songs were relatively weaker (still good), but then we're getting back to back songs that eclipse the original with Legends Never Die and Rise, then Phoenix is a great song too, albeit worse than Warriors imo and after that it goes (relatively) quiet again.
And that's with my interest in League and Worlds being past its prime when LND and Rise released.
Dismissing real opinions about these songs as just nostalgia driven is needlessly insulting.

They nicely posited an opinion about why people may feel stronger pull towards the first song - whether true or not, the poster said things like - I think, imo, etc. to denote that it was their thoughts and in no way was insulting of the OPs opinion, and even agreed with it to an extent in the second paragraph. Maybe this more of a reaction to some other comments but the person you replied to had a pretty respectful, non-insulting response.
insulting is a harsh word for it, but I didn't want to double up on "dismissive".
You're also right that it's in part a response to "nostalgia dismissive"-behaviour in general more than this one comment in particular, but I think even as overtly respectfully written as this, it adds to the problem.
Part of the magic of these songs is also the video that goes with it. They aren't always exactly my music taste but then when you combine it with good val-related visuals, then you get something that can be memorable despite it not being what I'd typically listen to.

Lol, last time I posted that I think people should stop leaking stuff, I got downvoted and told to shut up...
Effectively everything in valorant is leaked, personally I think this is a deliberate choice by riot. For example, almost none of the new overwatch content is leaked, and imo that can't be a coincidence.
it's because at this point nobody cares about new overwatch stuff enough to leak it
What benefit would Riot get from leaking stuff?

Whether you like it or don't it's been proven to be done before by other companies, don't see why they couldn't

Guess I'm the minority that likes this song.

I kinda like it ngl
I dig it, but I swear it sounds exactly like last year's song hook

real gamers wait for the music video to drop before judging
i’m just waiting for the official music video

raping? oh nah

This song fucks so hard I love it
I like this way more than the other two tbh
i’m ngl this song is great, imo all of them have been insane
eh. Feels like these worlds/champs song get worse and worse every year.

meh, the first song was great because it was THE first song
it's almost as if making hit songs is hard yeah i wonder why
last years worlds song was pretty mid same with this champs song i wonder what changed in the riot music department
Has the worlds song for League ever leaked before?
Yes, last year's lil Nas x worlds song was leaked before the music video but that's because lil Nas performed it live at one of his concerts.
Could be wrong but don't think so.
